Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda jam Nason.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
When I was a kid, I used to love Saturday
morning cartoons. I'd watched the Transformers that was the Autobotes
versus the Decepticons, and that used to start with this,
And when you were of that age, everything was explained

(00:25):
to you by song.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
How did it happened? What happened?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Why did the Optimist Prime become mortal enemies with Megatron
from their planet Cybertron.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Which I've often wondered, and then they.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Came to Earth? Why did that happen?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
And I didn't even realize that they were buds to
start off with?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Did you know that makes you'll tell me that while
the Coyote and the Roadrunner were friends.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Transformers One is a new movie.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
It's the untold origin story of Optimist Brian and Megatron,
and it's got some big names in Scarlet Johansson's in it,
Steve Beshimi's in it, Lawrence Fishburns in it, Chris Hemsworth
and Brian Tyrey Henry are in it as well, And
we caught up with him yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Well, hello, gentlemen, so nice to see you do an
animated film versus what you guys would normally be doing.
What were your stylings in how you did your voices?
Did you put your bodies into it? What will start
with you, Brian? What was your style when you were
when you were doing it?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
So roll out of bed and go into the voice
booth with what I rolled out of bed? How refreshing
because like, you want to be comfortable, you know what
I mean. You don't want to feel like you're too
done up. You want to just be raw. So like
I went in unshowered, uh, you know, with snacks, you know,
because like you just That's the great thing about voice
acting is you don't Nobody cares what you look like,
nobody cares how you read, so it's all about what

(01:42):
you sound like.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
So yeah, it was. It was fun.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
You go in and you scream and you cry, and
you try to bring some life to these characters that
you have no idea what they're going to look like.
At the end of the day, you get little bits
and pieces, but for.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
The most part you don't know what's going on.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
So you just go in and sometimes you have cheeto
dust on you and sometimes coming.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Around with tudo.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Does you guys are similar age?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
This would be right in your wheelhouse.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
If someone said to you, you're going to be playing
Optimus Prime in the future, Chris, you would have gone, whoa,
hang on.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah, I feel like a lot of the films I'm
doing is I'm just gonna live in out my childhood
fantasies and playing all the characters that are either watched
in cartoons or comic books or action figures that I was,
you know, playing with and recreating scenarios. So it is
a it is a very surreal one, and particularly last
night having my kids there, thinking I'm playing a character
that I used to watch and now my kids are

(02:33):
watching the character and it's all it's all very cool
and big family fun event.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yeah, and did the kids love it? Were you finally
finally a cool day? Because it so embarrassing until.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Now to Superhero they were like, they're boring, but the
robot now now.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
You're in just now a poly pocket, a winner. They
are making a pollpocket move. Hang on, Lena Dunham's doing it.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, how I like the origin stories of this because,
like I, you know, watched it when it started out,
but I didn't understand the actual original origin because you
guys are deadly foes.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
In the end of the whole as we know. But
at the start you were buddies. You were like good
buddies kind of mirrors are real friendship. That's right, I
will destroy you by any means.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
That's very It had to I think for both of us,
you know, the idea of being in a part of
the Transformers universe and continuing on this these films and
these stories. It had to be unique and fresh because
I thought, well, where can you go? And these characters
are so defined at this point, but to go back
and as you say, prior to being mortal enemies they
were best friends. Allowed there to be a lot more

(03:38):
humor and fun and playfulness with the characters. And you
form that bond and that friendship and that brotherhood and
then you tear it apart. So it's quite a lot
more emotional and ID anticipated.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
All of that. Yeah, Like they have jobs like their proommates,
you know, And that was the things that were miners.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
But I was a bit well, I knew that the
relation ship was fraught because there's way too much fist
bumping going on.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I think when they.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Usually when your friendship resorts to a bunch of fist
bump and you're like this person doesn't care about it.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Like I've been involved in many fish bumpers and it
never lost.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Lucky we didn't do another way exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I always feel.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Like it's a form of like passive aggression of like
I don't really want to get to know you, but
I'll extend this thing.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
This is my favorite is the fish pump handshake thing,
and then you went off to grabbing.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
The fish overly intimate moment. I was reading today that
you have a fan in very high Well, you've got
all sorts of fans in very high places. Kamala Harris
is a fan of yours.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
I did Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel and her husband, uh,
second gentleman Doug Imhoff was there, and I went back
and met him, you know, and he was like, oh,
we are huge fans of yours in our house. Like
Kamala loves you, like whenever you're on television. She's like,
I really love that guy. And then she was like,
I just want him to have bigger parts. And I
was like, whoa, let's put that on the campaign trail.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
And you can wear a bigger part and then you'll
get you He's like.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Hey, let's go.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
But he also extended, you know, an imitation for me
to come to the White House and have dinner with
them whenever, you know, because she will be getting in there.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
It'll just be a plus one for you and him's
you go into.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Her already with a friend son so much already you know,
white House.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
You haven't been you haven't been a White House man. Okay.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Has it been someone christ that from your childhood or
somebody go wow, they know me, they like me. You
still get a bit of a buzz with that.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
I remember did Kelly Slater who you know, eleven times
world champion professional surfer, my absolute hero growing up, and
he came to the first Thoor premiere in Sydney and like,
you know, fifty of my mates and family there and
one of them had said, oh, Kelly might come and
I was like and all I cared about the whole
years years here and then he's.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Like, hey, Chris, great movie. I'm like, oh, you.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Knows a Do you remember like what you said? Because
when you meet something stupid, Yeah, you can never control
when you meet that person that you're just.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
I actually had he doesn't remember this. I met him
prior to that and was like, oh hey, man, I
know friends of yours. I know Kelly Slater, I mean
I mean, I mean sorry Glendon and James and I
was like, oh my god, it.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Is amazing what the brain does. It's just like, what's
happening to me?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Well, we love Transformers one, we love the origin and
we know it all leads to it leads it to
a animated Shilah boof.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
So we all.

Speaker 7 (06:24):
That was ring me wonder boys, thank you, thank you
so much. Good to catch up with him again. Chris
Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry. He's a nice fellow that he's.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Got that leaps off him there.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, it was like a riz fest for you're in
that room with me and those guys.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, nice comparison.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Stars have Transformed one, Transformers one. He's in cinemas real soon.
And also look out for the merchandise.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
