Speaker 1 (00:00):
New Jersey and Amanda jam.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Nation pub test today. Albo's new social media rules. Do
they pass the pub test?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
This is being mooted the Prime Minister or CID. He
wants to lead the charge to ban access for anyone
under the age of sixteen for social media. The plan
is a bit vague at the moment. How they police it,
what form of social media they mean, do they mean
all of it? Lots of parents are saying, thank you,
somebody help us. Lots of parents are und aware of
what their kids are up to, but we all seeing
the results of bullying of all kinds of distress that

(00:30):
young children are in competition to how they should look
and how they should be. On the other hand, I
saw a whole lot of comments from people saying people
like kids are in the LGBTQI community, people who have disabilities,
people who are into who are computer nerds and want
to find their tribe. That's how they're finding their tribe
and that's what's keeping them alive. So what do you
do by banning it? Albo's new social media rules, do

(00:52):
they pass the pub test?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
I believe that it should be. I say make it
fourteen not sixteen. There are a lot of predators out
there who target out young children, and I want us
to allow our children and grandchildren to mature gradually.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
I think it does.

Speaker 6 (01:11):
Pass the pub test.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Social media can just be so dangerous for children or
the bad comments and everything out there. As Amanda was saying,
you know with people finding people with special needs finding
their groups. If you're under sixteen, your parents should be
doing that for you anyway, because you don't really know
who you're talking to over social media social safety, maybe

(01:33):
the parents should be doing it.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
And some of who works in childcare and see the
difference that social media makes on some of these younger kids,
particularly just like primary school age. I think the argument
for online communities, I've seen kids with those of online
communities who struggle with actual social skill stay today. So
definitely all force policies or for the restriction for social media.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
At ground rules right now. Because father looks the social
media for young people, it's like our all there must
be so got the need to be rule, and that
is good to serve them right now so we don't
have trouble in the future.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
I'm all for Albo's proposition. Being a mum, I've had
two little ones growing up, and all they did would
sit on their phones on social media where they could
have been outside in the pool, running the bikes in
summertime instead of just being inside. And it drove me
up the wall. Fully support ALBO.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
People in the morning, you come back at night people
saying that parents should be doing well. We can't expect
parents to We can't rely on parents otherwise kids will
fall through the crack. Imagine if we didn't have drink
laws so you could have a kid could have a
drink whenever they wanted.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
It was up to the parents.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
It's pretty much the same thing.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, we need help from the higher up. Thank you
for all your calls.
