Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jonesy and Amanda jam Nation.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
The Jonesy demand of arms for the pub test.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Voters have complained about a flurry of messages from political
parties and groups in the lead up to the federal
election this weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I haven't got one.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Be careful what you wish for, though, have you got one?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
No?

Speaker 4 (00:16):
But Clive Palmer's party seems to be flooding people's texts.
He sent out something like seventeen million texts. He's confirmed that.
He said they've been about eight thousand complaints. People are
annoyed because they can't unsubscribe, and they can't block it,
and they can't respond. But apparently political parties are exempt
from the Spam Act and they do not call register,
so these texts are legal. Clive Palmer himself has said

(00:39):
this is the same as handing out how to vote well.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Because he had the markup with his how to vote cards,
had all his preferences going to the teals.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Was that what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Well, the Teals aren't big on cold.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Now, that's what I mean. So what's that about it?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
He said he got hacked. I don't understand that cynics
would say that's how he's going to get a seat.
Is he gives everything to the teals?

Speaker 4 (00:59):
That's not a miss date.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Well, how do you feel though, was about these unsolicited
texts during an election? They passed the pub test?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (01:07):
Absolutely not. It makes my blood boil. I've blocked the number.
It still bloody, will won't stop. It's so annoying.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Clive Palmer's pants are on fire as usual because he's
telling nice. I can say no if I don't want
to take a hat to vote cart I can't say
no to these stupid texts. And when I prepolled yesterday
I even poked my tongue out at the Parma peoples
in protest.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
I don't think it's right that political parties are untouchable
and can get away with it. So what I think
is ironic is the bloke sending out the text messages.
His surname is Fong. Given that Clive Palmer wants to
stop immigration, I hate it.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
It makes me anxious because I can't tell him the
stop like.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
I don't opt out.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Honestly, I just block and move on with my life.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Block and move on with your life.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
There's a problem.

Speaker 6 (01:54):
You can't block
