Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda gem Nation with the news would fit to print.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
The editor in chief of the Daily OS, that's entertainment,
Emma Gillespie.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Hello, Hello, Well, Glastonbury happened over the weekend if you
weren't aware, because all the celebrities were at Jeffrey Bezos
this wedding. Some celebs were indeed in the UK at
the incredible festival. Over five days, two hundred and ten
thousand fans gathered. There was no rain, no mud. Doesn't
feel like a real glaston brief.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Everyone's not a lot of boots.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
I saw some footage people saying it's different, some older
people saying different to my day because they've got these
sort of bougie luxury places you can sit and rest
and get drinks and there's you know, for all the mud,
there's also a lot of glam.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
It looks very comfortable, very glam. We had some big
stars in attendance. Margo Robbie was there, Lily Allen, nol Gallagher,
even Neil Young. He performed. Yeah, he's been celebrated as
one of the best of the whole week.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah. Seventy married to Neil Young's marriage Darryl Hannah.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh the actress.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
She was involved with Jackson Brown. He's married to Daryl Hannah.
This is my fear.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
All the celebrities into a snow dome, but they met
through environmental channels.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Are both protesting. There you go go.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
There you go. The other big headline of the weekend
was Lewis Capaldi performed a surprise set. You may remember
two years ago, almost to the day, he headlined Glastonbury
and he's got Tourette's and he was facing a difficulty
performing because he was having these ticks and he didn't
have control over his body or his voice. And there
was this gorgeous viral sing along moment. Basically when Lewis
(01:39):
couldn't complete the song, the crowd took over for him.
This is what it sounded like.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Still give me chills.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's really flowed for him.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah, And if you remember the video, he's just kind
of holding onto the mic stand. He looks like he's
having such a hard time, but everyone in that crowd
is just holding him up. So since then we haven't
really heard a lot from him. He announced that he
was going to take some time off. He's been very
candid about some mental health issues as well as the
Turette's so he obviously was so burned out. His body
was telling him, you know, take a break, you need
(02:32):
the time. He is back, he's looking and sounding incredible.
He was on the same stage. He performed that song again.
It was a crowd sing along every single word. He
was fighting back tears. Everyone in the crowd was firing back,
but it was so beautiful. He's even got some new music,
so we're so happy he's back after that hiatus.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
So as you get sort of cruiser, but you can
just stand up there and the crowd was just singing
the song. You just don't just stand up and go okay,
I'm not feeling the best today.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Perhaps you guys could help me.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
And he just seemed so grateful. And I love Lewis Capaldi,
so very happy, loves back on the scene. We did
have a bit of controversy. We've always got a bit
of political statements at Glastonbury. You know, music and activism,
the two worlds collide. There's this Irish hip hop group
called Kneecap Now they were provocative before they landed on
the Glastonbury stage. One of the band members he was
(03:22):
charged with terrorism not too long ago and he's under
investigation because he took a Hezbola flag to a protest
in the UK and they were on the lineup Glastonbury
had kind of been getting a bit of pushback, but
they defended having them there and they threw out their performance,
expressed support for Palestine. There were slogans like free Palestine,
but there was also an f Kirstarma thing. There was
(03:44):
some commentary about the IDF. They've been you know, very
clear about their dance on you know, solidarity with Palestine.
Of whether or not maybe they should perform in Palestine, well,
I'm sure they'd love to one day were safe enough
to do so. But yeah, there's now the police are
investigating whether or not they might have incited hate speech.
(04:04):
There was some chance from in the crowd that were definitely,
you know, probably crossing a line there. So that's a
bit of a political one that's under investigation. The police
looking into that guy already and now further investigations, So
that'll be interesting to see what happens. Lord popped up
for a surprise set. The surprise set's really the thing
(04:25):
of music festivals now, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah you want a surprise set?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yeah, but I mean they sell tickets on the lineup
and it's almost like, well, is that really the lineup?
So if you bought tickets you got a bonus. Luis
Capaldi and Lord she the Keywi Stars back. She just
released an album. She played an intimate performance in a
really tiny stage with one of the little tents that
to close access to it due to overcrowding, but then
they ended up opening it up and it expanded and
(04:48):
blew out into a bunch of fields. It's all these
fields and all these crowds. But yeah, massive, massive weekend.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
What are the toilet situation at Gaston Brier? I get anxious.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
I think the toilet situation hasn't had a lot of
attention this year because of the weather. But when it's muddy,
the toilets do make headlines because everyone trudges all the
muddy in Usually there're those pit toilets. Won't go into detail,
but it's what you're imagining.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Marginally better than poop cruise, though it's not.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Good whichever way you cut it, which is why we
wear wellies no matter what exactly.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
There's no beer.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yes, we don't want to go home with some poisoning,
Thank you, m
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Ed or and cheap at the daily eyes.
