Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jean Marcos Sareisi is coming to town. He's going to
be at the Regal Theater on Thursday, January twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Tickets are through Ticketech. He's with us now, good morning.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Good morning, all good after you.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Soon where you are the show? Yes, the show is
called The Drama King.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I know my way.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I'm for Drama King tour. It's just it's a theatrical events.
You know, some stand ups they stay still. My spotlight
operator is getting a workout.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Oh okay, all right, fair enough.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Yeah, we've heard that your Your comedy style on stage
is pretty energetic. It's you know, it's a lot of
crowd participation. It's not just a bloke standing in front
of a microphone telling a few gigs.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah, you're gonna get the jokes too, just for those nervous.
I know some people they go, I don't want to
hear the audience talk the whole time. But I like
to float around. I like to keep it varied. And
I'm going to be coming there for my first tour
in Asia, and so you know that's when the physicality
really helps, when not everyone's on the same page language wise. Yeah, So,
so you know, when I get to Australia. I'm going
(01:09):
to be I'm going to be moving, You're.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Going to be very animated.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So how do you handle when an audience doesn't respond.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
To your movie?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Amongst them?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
You know, you you just have to be ready to
pivot at any moment, you know. I like to tour.
I probably got two two and a half hours of
material in my brain at any given moment, and I
just I just float depending on where I am or
in the case of when I go to Singapore, depending
on the things the government tells me. I'm not allowed
to talk about at all exactly, And that's just how
(01:43):
you do.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
So now this is not the first time that you've
been to Perth. You're here last year. But you were
here in winter, right.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I I yes, but but even your winter is our sun.
So it was lovely. I'm very excited to be there.
But it is my it's my second tour. I think
it's been maybe maybe a year and a half or so,
which is what they tell American comics to wait. And
the first one was really great. I had a lot
of friends from Australia from a very bad acting company
(02:16):
I was in many many many years ago. Okay, and
so I had a great time there. I love it there.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So was it what you expected?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
You know, we Americans are often concerned about the stories
they hear about our dangerous number of animals.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, I was. I was spared. Honestly, I was too spared.
I was hoping for something more. I really want to
I want to go on some kind of animal adventure. Okay,
I would like to see I'd like to see a kangaroo.
I didn't see a kangaroo. And I know that's the cliche,
you know, if you've come to America you want to
see a moose. Yeah, it's okay, there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, we don't tend to have as legend might have it.
We don't have them bouncing down the main street of Earth.
It's a little busy for them. But given that you're
going to be here in January, which is Midsummer for us,
you've got to go to Rotten Styland, just off the
coast of Perth and see.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
I did the couakers, and yeah, you call them giant
rats and New York those are small rats. But they
were very cute. I I think I tried to feed
one and an Australian was like, don't feed them? Are
you crazy?
Speaker 4 (03:30):
You just take a phan?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
It was so cute. I did. We got a lot
of photos at a very good time.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Well, one thing you must do in Perth as someone
who lives in New York and is of has Italian
and Jewish roots, I'm assuming that you'd like a deli sandwich.
And we have something here called a continental roll, a
County roll. It's essentially, you know, small meats and copper
and anti pasto vegetables in a really crusty role.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
It was.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
It was specific designed here by some Italian immigrants way back.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
We're famous for it. You'll have to try one of those.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
I absolutely will. I told you it doesn't take much.
I'm down.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
You have because you have an Italian Jewish home. You
know your your mother and father.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
So what is it?
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Is it a battle between the ruben and the RIGATONI
when you when you get home for dinner.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
It's kind of like it's more a battle of who
gets me for the holidays. I wish it was just food.
That would be nice. What a nice view of divorced
divorce is so tough? Spaghetti or the matsibol soup. I
need to talk to my therapist. No, it's more guilting
and shame based.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
There's gonna be a lot of guilting there. Now.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
You recently appeared in the Netflix series Verified stand Up.
How has streaming and you know, Netflix in particular's global
reach affected.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Stand up basically building a you know, a global audience.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
It must have helped.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, honestly, honestly, it's like there's that and there's YouTube
has just changed. I think there was a time where like,
in order to tour internationally, yeah, I would have to
be at just a megastar level. Now I'm not doing
I'm not doing too bad. But the fact is with YouTube,
I really reach corners of the world that every international
(05:29):
tour I've done has been a surprise of how well
it's done. You know, we sold out you know, Hong
Kong faster than we thought, the first time, Australia was
faster than we thought. And I just think we live
in a world where where none of the platforms really
dictate your success. It's more about like hitting them all. Yeah,
and I think I've I've created a team. I mean,
(05:50):
I have a full team of people who help put
clips on every social media platform on a daily basis,
and it's it's paid off, and so I'm able to
go to some countries for the first time in my
entire life. And you know, it's surreal to land somewhere
for the first time and there's five hundred people who
(06:10):
have paid money to hear you talk amazing, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Well, that's why I would suggest people get into ticketech
right now to get tickets for the show January twenty
nine at the Regal Theater at the Drama King.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
We will see you in town in January.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Thank you, and I will get the count was the
role the ConTroll? County? Yes, the county, roll? Yes, roll
will do.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Thanks, good luck with the show in Denver tonight. That's
where he's talking to us from
