Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lisa, don't avoid the situation. All right.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
So I'm learning to speak Spanish and I'm trying to
remember to do all my homework. I'm on a sixty
five day streak with you a lingo.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
So you know I'm doing okay. Lisa is learning how
to play. I had to go to Lisa learning to
play golf.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yeah, I had a lesson, yes, so halfway mark fifth lesson,
absolutely dreadful. It was like I hadn't had. It's like
a completely lost all mojo that I picked up.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Was this you? Was this you yesterday?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
If it had gone that far maybe.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
By the way, by the way, you do know you're
supposed to leave your details under the windscreen wiper.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yeah, look, that could have been me if it had
got off the ground and wasn't lawn bowl style, just
when I was playing really well last week, getting them
up in the air, feeling all very golfery, just absolute garbage.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
No wonder you wanted to avoid and talk about ben
o'she and everything.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Instead they do say it's a funny old game, and
it was certainly a funny old game. Yesterday I could
not hit the damn thing. I get. The hinging follows
the sweeping, the all of it just went out the window. However,
I'm not bad at putting. We decided we'd go out
and get some fresh air and do some putting because
it was just all too it was just all too

(01:21):
hard because there.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Were drivers going everywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah yeah, yeah, So I thought, let's go and have
have have a putt.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Let's go and calm down on the putting green.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It turns out I'm not too bad at reading the
you know, the lay of the land. Now you've got
to you've got to sort.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Of the undulating nature of a green.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
You got to aim for something, not the whole, because
it's going to do you know.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
We're going to roll this way or that way.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It's going to roll this way all that way. I
think some golfers refer to it as knife or fork.
Do you go for the knife or the fork, as
in the left or the right?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Getting the lingo and everything.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Now, it was a fair bit of going for the
knife yesterday and it wasn't too bad. So clearly what's
going to happen when I actually have a game is
I'm going to put brilliantly, but it's going to take
me thirty seven shots to get there.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
You know, even Tiger Woods, even Tiger Woods had an
off day. You might be bad at putting next week
and brilliant at the driving again.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Even put that thought out there, do that.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
That's the nature of golf. That's why it's such a cruel,
cruel game.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
You loved it last week, I do like it now
you think it's a stupid game.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, hang in there, Hang in there.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
