Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tell dances a cup for us, a gold medal for us.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Laying out, does it looks like I need more goals
from Olympic Morning Dancing Queen.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
There's always room for more sparkles your butterfly.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
But you were freestyling out, you were free styling out there, Susie.
Now you're on and Susie O'Neil joints us good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hellod morning, guys morning.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Wonderful to have you on the show with us. Now
you're on this Sunday night on Dancing with the Stars.
What's it like going from swimming to dancing?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Absolutely terrifying, to be honest, Yeah, it was a really
weird experience. I sort of said yes on a whim,
probably because I quit my job last year and I
was like, yeah, I've got some free time. Yeah, I'll
do that dancing. And as I started training, it became
apparent that I wasn't picking it up like at all.
And then obviously it dawns on me that it was
(00:53):
going to be on TV, and I was like, oh, jeesus,
I'm going to be in a bit of trouble here.
But I am glad I did it. But I wouldn't
say I'm going to do any more dancing after the show.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Are you enjoying it? Though?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Enjoying It's hard to enjoy something for me if I'm
the worst the whole entire group pretty much. But the process,
I think taught me a lot about myself, like I'm
actually I'm really used to external validation and achieving things
to feel good about myself. So you quite often tell
your kids, you know what about whether you want to lose.
(01:27):
It's putting the effort in. But to actually practice that
and go through that, it was very, very difficult, and
I had to kind of think after every dance how
much I improved and just be happy with my result,
because the judges sure as hell weren't going to tell
me they were happy with the result.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Right, well, let me put it this way, on a
ray Gun scale ten oh.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
No, I actually think when people do this show, Yeah,
and I used to dance not like that, but I
was jazz classical tap. It's the one show I would
never do because it terrifies me, as you said, like
actually putting yourself out there learning it. It's quite grueling,
so I don't think it's for the fainthearted and dance
routines and remembering them, and especially being on TV and
(02:12):
all that sort of stuff and you're being judged like
it's yeah, it's a lot of pressure.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So I actually take my hat any to remember dance routines.
It Actually that's what really got me. Yeah, Like I
think the first week it took me to learn about
five steps. I certainly got a bit better, but I realized, yeah,
that I probably should have done some had some dance experience.
Like when I went down and met the other ladies
(02:36):
that are on the show, they've all been at performing
arts schools and they've all ye done at least I'm
sort of dance. But you know, I am glad I
did it. There's one moment that made me it all worth while.
After my first dance. It was on two weeks ago.
And if you saw it, I did the tank go
or you called the tang Go, I don't think it
was actually the tank go.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
That's okay, that's okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Oh God. And order had come down to watch and
at the end of the routine, I went and saw
her and she was just crying. She's twenty one years old,
and she goes, Mom, I'm so proud of you for
doing that. Fantastic and just that alone was enough to
make me think, I'm really happy that I did this.
You know, I feel like I've had a good example.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
This Sunday night. You're dancing to this?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Just yes, yes, okay, we can't wait to see you again.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, well, what type of dance are you doing to that?
If it's not the tang go.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well, it's called the fox Trot. I'm not sure it's
the Fox Trot. Craig the Mean Judge. Craig the Mean
Judge is really mean to me this week, so if
you want to check out what he has to say
to me. And I've got a couple of little barbs
back I think here in headlights all right, So well.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Look, it's been lovely to catch up with you, and yeah,
I think you're amazing for doing it. As I said,
it's really really I think it's one of the toughest
shows to do, so good on.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, yeah, thanks many, I appreciate it. Thanks having me
on Campo.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
