Speaker 1 (00:00):
Maney it is the most dangerous sport on the planet.
And Glenn Young, the CEO, the managing director of Pro
Ball Writing PBR, joins the school morning. Glenn, how are you, Manella?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Very good? Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Oh our pleasure, big weekend at the Brisbane Entertainment Center
and the people in this area. We just love pro
ball riding. There's so many events out this way and
this is the biggest event on the calendar. Money. It
is the state of origin pro ball riding, Queensland versus
New South Wales. But what makes it the most dangerous
sport on the planet?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Glenn, Oh, look, I think it's a combination of a
number of things. I think, you know, one thing is
we're bringing in the best athletes the writers that we
can sort of muster in the country, and then you
go and match them up against some of the best
bulls in the country, which have also been genetically bred
from you know, a lot of us A strains and
you know, so, I mean the bulls over here not
only being come from Australian genetics, but I've also had

(00:52):
the crossover with the American genetics and it makes them
you know, I mean, they come from the best bulls
of the world, you know, the bloodline, so it's a
test in itself just to trying to get these bull
th row. But I mean at the same token, you know,
it's the teams event absolutely all right. So you just
said it's like the State of Origin campaign Queenstone and
New South Wales.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Watch what's the prize?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
What do they get at the end in bull riding,
So it's individual price, so they're writing for individual price money.
But at the same token, it's over the three series.
I mean there's also there's another thirty thousand dollar bonus
for the best cowboy over the three series, so there's
a decent money up for them. It's one hundred and
fifty thousand up for grabs over the between Newcastle, Brisbane
and Sydney, and you know, prize money is great, but

(01:34):
I guess the accolade have been the Origin Champions. There's
always something that you know, each state strives for and
that's what these guys strive for. Soon they put their
jersey on, they're no longer an individual writer. They're a
team player and you know it's a different, different format
and a different dynamics altogether.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, I don't think the clowns get enough for accolades.
That's the most dangerous part of the show. Yeah, balls
are still kicking and yeah, just ridiculous, but.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Well, yeah they are. They're the umpire. I guess they're
the referee that but you know, I guess at the
end of the day, they're going to wait for the
bulls stop before they get in there. And you know,
it's just one of those things. You know, you've got
to have those guys there there the life savor of
these cowboys and you know they put their bodies on
the line every time.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, and you know what, I love money the names
of the bulls. Any any exciting names this year?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
You know, Oh, there's quite quite a few. There's Roid Rage,
and you've got the you know, the alpha blokes, Warden
and you know, there's quite a few there. There's Bugger's
Beach and I have no idea when they come up
with them, but you know, at the end of the day,
they come up with these names that seats the you
know what suits the characteristics. And it's the same thing.

(02:48):
You know, you watch them in the backyard. They're just
nice and calm. They get off the truck, they're nice
and calm. When they load, they go on the same
way they get off, you know, the number one I
guess bulls gets to walk on first and all the
other bulls sort to follow, and you know he gets
his position and stuff. But I mean it's okay. You know,
it's just like horse racing. Every animal's got their own
traits and you know they're very interested to watch.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
It's not like horse racing, and it is an absolute skill,
that's for sure, and something to see. All right, where
is it again?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And where can everyone go this yament tomorrow night? You know,
there's still some tickets available, not many, but you know,
at the end of the day, it's it's one of
the events that our fans and Queensland are starting to
become very accustomed to. And I mean this is the
only queens Flan Tour stop because we go back to
Sydney to the third and final round of it all.
You know, at the moment Queensland's won up. But then again,

(03:41):
you know, we've lost a couple of riders to the
team's events over in the USA, so we've had some
of those guys move on and like on paper, it's
New South Wales's weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Well, thank you. Yeah, got Queensland, Queenslander and the PBR.
Glen Young, thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
You're welcome. Thank you,
