Speaker 1 (00:00):
Show business.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
So that is the latest one from the Hilltops, who
are going around this beautiful country at the moment selling
out heaps of shows as well.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's Matty Garwood.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
As we go around the country with the biggest Ozzy
hits at night and keeping to that theme symphony, they
are going around it.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
They're going to be in Adelaide tomorrow night. So this
is pretty awesome.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
It doesn't just celebrate global dance hits, but it actually
incorporates a full orchestra.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
They got guest vocalists and DJs.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
And when it comes to some of those guests vocalists
and DJs, we are catching up with Alan right now
from the supergroup here in Australia, the pot Bellies Elant,
thanks for going on mate, what are up to?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well, you know the pot Belly that's been put to
the side just for a little while because I've had
a new baby. I wrote a song today. You want
to know what it's called?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Just first off, before we get the exclusive of this,
do we need to pattern it or do any copywriting first?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
In case Ed Sharon steals another song.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Look, I don't think it's the type of song she's
going to steal though.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
You never know.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
The songwriter's dream is for people to steal. It's very
different than the way it used to be. If someone
steals my song, I'll just get paid for it eventually.
I'm sure it's called is it a wei or is
it a poo?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Have you got the melody and everything?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Sort of?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Is it we or is it a poo? Who's gonna know?
Who's gonna know?
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Some sick vocals on that one too, mate. We obviously
know that you've got the pipes when it comes to
the popbellies, but to just set you up like a jukebox,
then I was into it. If you're looking for producers
and a bit of.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Maddie, we've all got to pecure your set of skills.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Anyway, we do digress, but we are very excited about symphony.
So how did this come about for you personally? Like,
obviously coming from the pop bellies, what's the work on
into it?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
In your end?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I was approached by symphony amazing crew. There was always
a dream of mine to play with an orchestra. Such
an immense feeling being up there in front of a
massive audience, playing with a massive ensemble with a huge
light show and really sleek production, but really creative production too,
and really heartfelt and emotional. It's been a great ride
(01:57):
and I'm looking forward to taking it to Adelaide this weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
You' showcasing a whole heap of music here. Did you
get to do anything when it comes to playlisting, who's
going to be on the bill and that sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I'm very generous with their time with me actually on
how to arrange it. I kept asking for dirtier and darker,
and they kept saying, no, no, no, it's the classical orchestra,
keep it cuddly. But it's anything but Cudley. The whole
show is just super energetic and there's a great flow
to us.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
And what can we expect when we are there? Obviously
we have something in mind when it comes to what
we automatically think about that kind of music, But how
does it encumbers using the orchestra as well, big sixty piece?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
It's a mystery how they do it. I mean, when
you think about it, to get that mixed right is
such a cool skill, and they do it so well.
There's a DJ there playing parts of the tune and
the orchestra is just booming. I don't know how can
I put it. You're on this big ocean liner in
the sea. He swept around by the ways of this music,
and it's music most people know. Yes Pankovich, Yeah, fat Boy,
(02:53):
Slim Pop Bellies. The singers that they've got involved in
it are just super classy and incredible voices.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Do you think there's any room in there for a
is it aware.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Or is it a pooh, don't know, imple into something.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Get the crowd singing along with that.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
That's the other thing about it is that the essence
and the feeling that you're getting bouncing off the orchestra
into the crowd. The conductors an absolute bee. She's unbelievable,
Sarah Grace. Don't expect a posh, sit down orchestral experience.
It's everyone out of their seats.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
So we've got the fifth of August, we've got the
twenty ninth of October, the nineteenth of November.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Not just like the big arenas, like we've obviously seen
it when it was at the Cydney.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
My Music Bowl, but you're getting to see some cool
places around the country too.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah. We did Sydney, mind, we did Kudos in the
last time I was there was with Usher or something,
isn't it Adelaide's coming up? And then I love Tasmania
and I think they go for like two thousand venues
to eight thousand, that sort of thing pretty good.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Quickly into a little bit of pop bellies and stuff
with the car yards.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
What a ribbon campaign.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
No we didn't get a jeep and now it doesn't
last forever. And yes, you have to keep working and
you have to enjoy work.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
These are tunes that people grew up with and they're
still what you'll see a lot of up and coming
DJs doing well established DJs.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
The pop Bellies are still a huge part of their
track listing as well.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Man, it's just wonderful to have been part of Australian
music history or whatever, like part of the whole community
and doing.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Like what you're doing, keeping opportunities and the experiences evolving,
which we are very much looking forward to, particularly for
the next synthony which is going to be in Adelaide
tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Mate. It's been a pleasure, it.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Has been awesome and I look forward to hearing the
next sample track with Peas and Woos. Is it a
Peace at a Woo coming in? The exclusive is right
here how cool mate, absolute ripper of a chat and
also looking forward to to seeing it rock around the
country with the shows that have got left throughout twenty two.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Thanks so much, Maddie, Thanks Mane.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Now I do you have a track that you want
me to put in with it? Oh man, you're.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Welcome to put any of the popellies ones you put
that hold back Why are you with Me? Yes? Just
seems to make everyone happy.
