Speaker 1 (00:00):
Going right around the country with the biggest souzzy hits
at night for us made it's Maddie Gallet and country
music is going from strength to strength. It is all
overund top forty at the moment and we're loving it here,
especially fresh ozzie stuff. And when you think of Kitlyn,
Chadbolt and Melanie Dyer, what an absolute team up this
will be if they got together. Well, they've done it.
They're gonna let us into some of the dumb things
that they've been up to with their new single and

(00:22):
they're zoom it in right now. Girls, what's going on?
How did this happen?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Hello? Thanks for having it. Hey, Maddie, Look, it could
have been a dumb decision, but I mean we've deemed
up anyway, we've teamed up. We've done it. Mel came
up to visit. We were both playing a festival late
last year, so Mel came to my house and we've
got a little studio there and just thought, one not
make a drink and write a song and let's just
see what comes out. And we got reminiscing on all

(00:47):
the tour stories and the things that we've done together,
good and bad.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
We've spent a lot of time together over the last
five or so years, so we have a few stories
to write into a song.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
The song just kind of came about and we finished it.
We were like, oh, nah, we've got to do this
as a do it.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
So what are some of the stories that made it
into the song? And what are some of the stories
that perhaps didn't make it.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Into the song?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Are there a few that didn't funny? I'm sure a
few that are a little embellished.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, some of it's definitely, you know, pretty accurate, and
some of it's exaggerated or also kind of like, I'm
sure someone's done.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
This, so totally. Some of them, you know, code names
for our friends. Who would you do the list of
things that we list off in the verses, but we
haven't named and shamed them accurately.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, so yous obviously, Like you're saying, you've known each
other for a while now, how have you seen each
other's careers, writing styles and approach the music change.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
We're pretty much on par with like our style and
taste I think, and our.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Song running style. We're both really good at trying to
put way too many words into one line and making
them make it like a puzzle make it fit.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
But we're always sort of interested in the same kind
of music, but we have a little bit of our
own flare as well. That's that sets us apart to
But I think we've both just sort of, you know,
gone down this country pop laneway that's really opened up
in the last couple of years, but.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Also probably steering a little more down the sing song
run a path as well, kind of exploring that and loving.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
It, yeah, whereas I'm more like kind of steering towards
the pop like the pop country sort of laneway as well.
So we know each other so well, so I think
it always really works and let's be really, if something sucks,
we can just say no, that's a terrible idea.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
And I think it's great now too that there's so
many more people that are loving the genre and really
listening to it, and we're seeing the festival crowds grow
and grow. Whereas you know, even five ten years ago,
the pop country side of things was still very new
and yeah, now it's yet it's definitely growing.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, and I think it's becoming cooler as well for
other outside producers to take on country collapse and they
want to work with country artists and writers.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, and we're excited about what you guys are doing,
in particular with the new one Dumb Decisions. What else
have we got coming out? You's going to do some
more stuff together.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I think something like this song has been a long
time coming because we have done shows together and toured
and written together. So I mean, for now, look, it's
just a one off because it worked out so well
that we're both recording new music. We're going to plan
some shows towards the end of the year, and we're
both releasing our own songs as well.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
And our show fits together with each other and our audiences,
so that's really cool. But yeah, I'm really excited to
hear Kate's album at the end. Heaps of stuff happening separately,
but could do this together and.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Things happening around Down Decisions as well. I love the.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Artwork that's come out of it.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
What did you think about it when it first came
out with already tweaks that had to be made, like, oh,
it doesn't quite look like me. There, can we adjust.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
This a little bit? Oh yeah, you talked to mel
about that one. Go for it. A friend of mine
did a quick photoshoot of us, and then I was like,
this would be so great as a caricature. So I
got a friend to do it up and you know,
set the draft through and then Mel's like that that's
a lot like for the first draft.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Was draft was like, come on, guys, that's not my jaw.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
I'm not chiseled.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
But then it was also like, there are a couple
of beer bottles near the trolley like in the first draft,
and we actually looked a little homeless, so we changed that.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Really cool. Well, we think that the new one's great
with dumb decisions. It's definitely no dumb decisions. Maybe with
the two of you teaming up Melanie dre and Kitlyn Chadbull.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Absolutely ripper.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Great to see you and great to have you both
working together with dumb decisions. Would you girls like to
introduce it for me?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
We'll spit it right now. And I was, mate, awesome,
sounds great, Charlie.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
This is our brand new single. I'm Melanie Dyer

Speaker 2 (04:30):
I'm Caitlyn Chadwell, and this is dumb Decisions.
