Speaker 1 (00:01):
The biggest does he hits at night? Great around Australia.
This is oz Made going right around the country with
the biggest dozz he hits at night. For oz Made,
it's Mattie Garden and fellow Taswegian country pop rock superstar
Casey Barnes. He has got four singles to release from
(00:23):
another number one album, Lighted Up. Kiss Me like him
mean It and we're not going to do any kissing
because it's still COVID times doing it from a distance.
As he joins us on the phone right now, Casey
barn is great to chat to him, mat kick it
off the show for it Tuesday night, Mate.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
What do you have to I look enjoying a bit
of family time with the girls and making the most
of it. But it's nice to have some new music
out at the same time.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
What else is great is the continued release of news stuff,
but also when your stuff gets picked up for AFL
like lighted Up. Pretty stoked to be hearing that one
playing on Channel seven with the Footy.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, that was a bit of a dream come true.
I mean, most people that know me know I love
my AFL and obviously growing up in Kazi played a
lot of footy as a kid, and when we wrote
Light It Up, I remember I was saying to the boys,
I thought this would be perfect for a sync with
the AFL and where you sort of put it out
there and yeah, to land the primate for the whole
(01:14):
season was pretty awesome. So yeah, it was very grateful when.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
You say that you know this song will be great
for that. Have you got anywhere in your writing or
your preps where you think, hey, I need to write
a song that's going to hit this or is it
still really really true to Casey Barnes and what you
want to deliver as an artist.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Some songs just sort of flow out of nowhere and
I've written the track where you'll finish writing the song
and you're just like, wow, I don't even know where
I tapped into that that it sort of just flows
out of your sort of thing. And then other times
you might have a bit of a brief like you know,
we like to write a lot of songs that are
going to translate well into our live show. So we
like to make sure our shows is got to happen,
(01:51):
enjoyable and exciting. And what tracks are kissed me like
you mean it, they're perfect for life. You know, they're
really up and happy, and that's definitely something that I
sort of concentrate on that too.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
It gives you a good bit of contrast because you've
obviously been smashing all over the country. God Took His
Time on You, which was a little bit of a
different feel to something like come turn me on and
get to know you, as well as lighted up.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, definitely. And you know, I remember when we wrote
God Took Your Time on You. I knew it was
different to anything I'd sort of done before, and I
had a feeling it with a really special song, and
I did an envisage that I was going to sort
of connect with as many people as it sort of
has done, and you know they've been as Yeah, there's
been a couple of moments where it's sort of kit highlight.
We did a festival a couple of weeks ago and
(02:31):
I came out at the end of the set and
did a bit of a signing for a little while,
and a couple waited right to the end and they
came up and said, you know, we're we're getting married
to your song, and tomorrow we're going out to get matching.
God Took his time and your tattoos done, and wow,
that's the commitment.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
And you've got a great little commitment and a good
friendship going with obviously Michael at M squared and stuff,
so he's worked on this one as well.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
He has. Yeah, look at that partnership's worked out really
well there. Both the guys are amazing soup souper talented,
and you know they've got the ability to nearly jump
inside your head and take the idea that you've got
and sort of be able to replicate it. So yeah,
they're terrific.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
It's an absolutely awesome ride for us as friends and
as music fans to see you on this trajectory.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
It means a lot. And I think when it hits
home is you know, when you get to do those
shows like Tazzy have been particular. I mean, we've been
lucky to get played all over the country, but I know,
having that originally from Tazzy and having that local support
down there when we came down and played earlier in
the years. Just to have that turnout at all of
the shows was just terrific.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
And where else can we see you next case? You've
got a few shows coming up.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, we've got a bunch of bigger festivals now, so
we've got Gimpy Mustin big festival up in Makay called
Ky's Rock and Country, and then seeing See Rock speaking
of which is happening in September, and that that one's
going to be massive because it's sort of been on
hold for the last couple of years, the COVID, but
it's back and they're bringing out some pretty big acts
from the States as well, and we're looking forward to playing.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
That one awesome matell We're looking forward to spinning kiss
Me Like You Mean at Casey Barnes. We're going to
do it right now. Always great chat to you here
and oz Made.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Thanks for having me mate. Hey guys, this is Kaky
Barnes and this is the brand new single kiss Me
Like You Mean It on oz Made.
