Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ah, I did it. Oh what a journey.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
That was an experience going right around the country with
the biggest Sozzie hits at night for Oz Made. It's
Maddie Garwood and one of Australia's favorite artists, Samantha j
She's got some brand new stuff out.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Make sure that you get ready to fill your heart and.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Dance cards because Dance Again is hitting the airwaves and
she's zooming in right now. Samantha Jade Aria award win
winner of the X Back To twenty twelve and so
much more than that.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Now. It's so good to see your beautiful face and
a chat to you here again.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
So nice to see you. How are you going?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I'm going so well, Sammy.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
What about you?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
What have you been up to you since we last chatted?
You just got a puppy and you were just in the.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Initial stages of rescheduling one of the biggest days of
your life, not chatting to me.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Getting married.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Yes, that's right, Well, still planning that because orders took
forever to open. Another person, the same person, still the
same groom, that God, still the same groom, different venue,
an idea on the whole day. It's kind of a
weird thing, you know, because you don't speak to as
many people as you thought. Some people kind of do
their own thing and you do your own thing, and
(01:08):
then your friendships became much smaller I thought.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I think who hasn't made the cut Now I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Not going to say who they are, but there are some.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
People, Adam Sady, we're obsessed with your brand new stuff
that's coming out now.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Was this something that was always going to happen throughout
twenty twenty two?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
What did you have this in the planning stages before
the world decided that it was going to have a quick,
cheeky kip for a couple of years?
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah? I know, right, well I did.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
I have had this song for a while, because you
know when you've heard it for ages and then you're
kind of like.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Is it even good anymore? Like people like it?
Speaker 4 (01:41):
You know, now it's kind of old news within the circle,
so it's nice, but it's like a resurgence in my
own to the world for this to be out finally.
But I wrote it through Lockdown last year to the
beginning of the year one, and it just feels really
nice to have it out there.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
So in saying that as well, did Dadskin didn't have
an evolution. Did any of it get changed?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Do you know what?
Speaker 4 (01:59):
It was pretty sad In terms of the writing. I
went back in and kind of redid some of my
vocals because after listening for a while, I was like, oh,
there should be a error, Oh there should be another
harmony there. I think it just got bigger, that kind
of epic like oh when that comes in, I was like,
I think it could be bigger, and the producer was like, yeah,
I agree.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So that built and building to an EP and some
more new music for Samantha Jay to.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Come out as well.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yes, I'm very excited to do an EP. I think
I'll do a two part EP because I've got.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Some of the songs that I wrote through kind of
the COVID era and the Lockdown era. But they feel
different because some well when I was really sad and
they're quite gloomy and dark, and then some were kind
of like when things were kind of going back to normal,
and so some of it more dance fun. So I
think I'm going to separate them onto two different EPs.
Back in the day, it would be that you'd have
all of this music right and then you'd have to
(02:47):
like chop it down into like twelve songs from fifty
or whatever. It's one of the last things we kind
of have to kind of bring us back together and
I don't know, like connect us on a very deep level.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Do you think that's part of something that's evolved for
your personal journey as people like to say it through
your creatives and how you write music and stuff, now
that you've had that bit of time to listen differently.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Absolutely, because usually I would have songs with meaning and
truth and feel and then I would put out the
dance bop because it's just like I was like, well,
that's what I do, and this time I'm not going
to do that. Not that I don't love the dance bop.
I love those songs and they will come. But I
thought it was really important for me with this project
to lead with a song that really really has heart
(03:28):
and meaning to me.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
And with the meshing of dance again, what would your
go to dance move be if you were out on
the tis A, what would it be?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
What's you go to Sammy jay My.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Go to dance move? Okay, so I've always got drinking.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Hair, as I've got to get a little bit closer.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, drinking. I'm a slow drinker, so that takes a
while for me.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
It's this.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
And the hand.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
This hand is always up.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Okay, just ready, just ready for the high fives too.
I like it. And is there any opportunity? Is what's
coming up? We've got the new music, Obviosite dance again.
What about shows? And we're looking into some stuff that
we can come out and put our best.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Hey, ho on, I want to do a tour.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
I mean, just to sing the songs that you've written
and been in the studio with live to the people
who want to hear them. I mean, it's the best
feeling ever. And also another project that I'm really excited about,
this kind of like not within music but in another realm.
But I can't talk about too much. But I'm really
excited about too.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
You're just going to leave us there with that, so
that's so meant.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
I'm so I got excited hearing about the tour and
then you throw this little cheeky Oh.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Here's something else. But I can't talk about what you
tell me about.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Of doing that to me, But you asked, you asked.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I can't say anything yet because then it will take
away from the launch.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
We don't need just no spoilers here. We're just excited.
We're going to start with the new music, just hanging,
just dangling.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
There's a little yeah, bit of a fishing one.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yeah, we like it and we absolutely like what you're doing.
Smouth Jay, love talking to you. The new one to
dance again, Sammie, I'm going to play it right now.
