Speaker 1 (00:00):
Going right around the country with the biggest Ozzie hits
at night for Oz mate, it's Maddie Gowood and going
around our country. If you've been thirsty for some brand
new Ozzie stuff, Thirsty Mark. They are celebrating the new
album as well as a national tour. It is kicking
off really soon with heaps of regi spots as well.
We're catching up with Ray from a Thirsty Immerk right now. Ray.
Great to have you back on here and great to
(00:20):
have some fresh Azzie stuff out mate.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Thanks mate. Yeah, good to be shouting to here too.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Things are going to kick off a lot of regional
stops going through Western Australia. We're looking at Queensland, through
New South Wales, Victoria in South Australia too, mate. It
must be great to be back out on the road.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, it's awesome. I was just looking at the run
of dates just yesterday because we're making some t shirts
and we're going to list a lot of dates there.
You know, we called the whole tour and album celebration
because you know, it's a celebration of Audie music, but
more than that, it's a celebration of fans being able
to come back to audience and gigsban back on stages.
It's a positive outbook in the music industry compared to
(00:56):
the last few years. So that's really really something to celebrate.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
So Thirsty Mirk, you've been patiently waiting the last couple
of years to drop celebration. Is it something that you
actually had pre pandemic or it was work of progress
throughout it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
It's a good question. We were sort of sitting around
for a few months thinking that the pandemic was obviously
going to be a six week or an eight week
sort of seeing maybe Max And obviously after many months
of the country being generally in lockdown, we saw a
little break in the clouds between the New South Wales
and Victoria border. I thought to myself, this is the
time where we need to get together. Yeah, you know,
(01:28):
raise the morale as a group, plug some instruments in
and just sort of do what we do. I thought,
let's just go down to a studio in Melbourne and
work with our old music producer that we know so well,
and I've got in the studio and then let's actually
uncover and cover some boggy stuff. And you know, that's
sort of where the conversation started and then it was
just basically, let's not do the usual suspect, let's do
(01:50):
a couple of things at the World Owned, but a
couple of deep cuts as well. It was funny because
after a week of tracking there was news that the
border was going to shut again, so we basically had
to jump on planes and get to get out of
there really quickly.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Talking creatively, like you said about covering the covers that
are in there too. When we've got rayth Thistlewait and
Darryl Braithwaite, that is something that we're very much looking
forward to because we're loving the new one with As
the Days Go By, which is very cool, which is
kind of what you've kicked off the launch of the
album with as the lead single.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, that's right. It's funny because we have shared the
stage with Darryl a little bit. Yeah, we have jokes.
I was throw Natalie Bassingwaight to the as well Wait
for something.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Spelled quite differently as well. I think because you you've
got a Y and he's got an AI, so I
don't know how she spents. Oh fantastic.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Basically we're mate with Darryl and I sort of had
the idea of let's do a i've called a turbo
charged version, yes, but really that was something my dad
described it as. It's kind of got a fat, heavy
lock sort of feel to it, but the song shines through,
and I think if you listen to the whole album,
there's a little bit of reinterpreting and some of the
songs have sort of put our own twist on definitely,
(02:56):
you know, added the mer quirk.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So I was going to ask about the mert kirk.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah, merk kirk was a term that the producer actually
came up with, even over a decade ago, and he
said that that, you know, some of the songs have
a bit of a sense of humor and a bit
of a comedic charisma to it. So there's a little
bit of that, but there's a lot of heartfelt stuff
on there as well. And one of the wild cards
on the album is a very different, almost hip hop
groove version of Rip Rip Woodship, which is one of
(03:20):
my favorites too. Got a chainsaw solo in it as well.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Very cool. You need leather face in there to performed
out in stage with it?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, absolutely, we are going to see.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
You on stage. So the tour kicks off the Celebration
Tour with thirst America on July the twenty second, which
is actually just this week coming up soon, heaps of stops.
How did you choose?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Basically, the first block of shows came through at the
end of July. We thought, oh wow, there's a whole
week and a bit in Perth. Let's start there and
then we'll circle over to Queensland. And then the rationale
was sort of if we can actually make the rout
it just all the way down the East coast. I
mean a lot of touring, you're doing this crazy criss
(04:02):
crossing sort of thing. This one's a little bit more
linear with the direction. You know, it's almost just the
north to south sort of thing. Some of them are
venues that we've worked with before, and the way it happens,
you do build up a really nice relationship with the
venue managers and the promoters behind it, and you know
there's various people working behind the scenes really hard on
all these shows.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Fantastic mate. Well, we are absolutely loving seeing some fresh
stuff from Thirsty Mark particularly we're going to actually spin
it right now, the brand new one. Daryl breathwaits. As
the days go by, but the Thirsty Turbo Charged rendition
celebrating the brand new album and the Tool which is
actually out tomorrow. Ray, it is absolutely can right amongst
it now, mate, I really appreciate Ray from Thirsty Mark
(04:42):
spending at a time with us here and I was mate.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Thanks mate, see you soon. Gooday. This is Ray from
Thirsty Murk. I'm stoked to be talking to Maddie here
and this is our new single as the Days Go By,
obviously a huge hit from Darryl Braithwait. This is our
Turbo Charge rendition from Thirsty Murk. How you enjoy it?
