Speaker 1 (00:12):
I Heard podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists and listen
live on the Free iHeart appe Robin and Kidd. Now
with Corys the podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
corey's Little Cory's Little League is coming together. This is
an idea that Corey brought to the show yesterday now
before you, an idea of just bringing the fun back
to rugby league. And we're getting as much help as possible,
and this morning we have help by way of Matt Gillette.
(00:47):
I always want to say Gillette. It's Gillett Gillett. I
used to you know, I used to do the on
ground stuff at the Broncos. Well, Matt often won Man
of the Match and I would have to speak to
him after the game. And I'll be standing there with
a mic in front of forty thousand going it's Gill's
Gill and I Matt Gillet. Well maybe, but here's some
of his highlights.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Well they got the numbers, Stan, Well, you can't defend.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Against that sort of brilliance.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
He played in the second row, an unbelievable player for
Brisbane and for and for Queensland.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
And he joined us.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Hey, Matte, good morning, how are we all made? Very good? Mate?
It was it nice here in the old days? Mate?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Mate?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I'm actually sitting out in the front of the Broncos
training facility now mate, so yeah, it kingles in the
body mate.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Which yeah, well, I mean I referred to you as
a former Origin Great Now that's that's correct in one sense,
and that you are a former Origin Great, but you're
also working for the former Origin Greats.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yes, right, that's correct.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I started my journey there in January last year, so
I'm very excited and enjoying my role there.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You know something, what is your role? What do you
guys actually do mat?
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I imagine you sit around at the pub with there will.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Be some long days and small mornings if I was
doing that. So yeah, Fogs are we sort of work
on for four pillars. Here at FOGS, we're a non
non for profit organization. One of our big arms of
the organization is the d Academy, which was which is
Arthur Beatson and it's it seems the legacy that he
(02:37):
before he left us. He's our FOG number one. So
he's vision and legacy he wanted to leave behind was
getting the Indigenous kids to school, attending school and coming
out and giving themselves the best opportunity. So the Ardi
Academy is an incent attendance base program where the kids
(02:59):
they reached ninety percent in their in their program through
the primary. In high schools they get a little reward
every term to get them through school. So we're believe
that that could be the break for kids rocking up
for school and then in the high school they also
have a driving licensing program attached to it as well,
(03:20):
so a lot of incentives there for the kids to
rock up, be above that nine percent and get rewarded
for that. And the three other pillars that we sort
of work on as well. We support the Origin series
which is coming up shortly. It's going to be a cracker.
We raised money for various charities through our events. One
of our events being the four Rex Fogs Charry Lunch,
(03:41):
which is always the day before the Brisbane State of
Origin game. We're almost sold out there with six hundred
and fifty people. We've also added a golf day and
a race day this year as well, so we'll raised
money for various charities that always sort of connect back
to the Fogs as well.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Do you know what I take out of this conversation,
Matt is if you know what you're doing and you
can organize events.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yes, I can organize. I've got a lot of help.
And one of them the great taking taking. But the last,
the last pillar that we work on is we support
grassroots rugby league. So I suppose you know, with Corey's idea,
(04:25):
which is its great that he's come up with this
Cory's Little league concept. It's going to be awesome. So yeah,
one of our pillars and the way we can sort
of help as well as supporting through a glassrooms rugby league.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Great, So you can help us out with some of
the stuff because there's a lot, you know, just to
put on a game, there's uniforms.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
So what do you want Matt to do?
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Has Corey kicked off anything yet? One of the main
the main one I thought of the idea with that.
Without my brain doing all that work, I'll tell you what,
it wouldn't be happening.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Call to the show. We even named it, Matt before
we let you go, and thank you so much for
for the help that you're going to do give us
for this. But Queensland state of origin. Who who would
you put at fullback right now? If you had to
name the fullback. Who do your name?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Do I name kal Okay from the nine? Yes, it's flaying.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Well, you're all agreeing with.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Your name and look great. We're here to support Cory's
in the league. So will definitely help spread the word through,
you know, the junior clubs. I'm sure we're out connections.
We'll be able to connect Chrys with.
