Every time it happens, I'm stunned by how much you
love Backstreet Boys Choreos.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I just because I know how much you love country
music now and you grew up in the Bush, and
yet there was a time in the Bush that you
were rocking out Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Love it was we had a CD. Well, we had
a few CDs, yeah, and they were probably the main
one that I listened to. That he's just still with
my brother.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
That when you go to We're watching them on Rage
on a Saturday, you did right because in the Bush you've.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Been to see some big shows and because you know
you're Luke Holmbs recently like that. Christ, have you ever
seen them?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:19):
No, no, I honestly I would have always loved to
have seen them, and I honestly thought they might have
been done.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So that's why I thought they're not done. No no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
They have just announced. You don't listen to me, you lot.

Speaker 7 (01:31):
Honestly, we're listening now.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
They have announced that they're doing a residency at the
Sphere in Vegas. Let me just have a July eleventh
through to currently August tenth.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Will they be in their forties now the boys? Are
they still performing or like they always been?

Speaker 6 (01:55):
They no, no, no, They've been gone for a long time,
and they do little bits and they've got often live
their own life. It's done youtubes and all kinds of stuff.
But this is the first time they've been like, I
can we go?

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Well, isn't that what you're doing? These sort of things
like the media industry, Like that.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Time we went to Vegas to watch the Foot.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
That's all got me excited about working to Vegas and stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
That was a special. Normally, I don't think we can
go just to see a show.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Why here, we can surely come on hang on looking
at all and that many times?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Can we.

Speaker 8 (02:32):
Just give me a minute?

Speaker 9 (02:34):
So you're such a huge fan, you're clearly passionate about it,
it's not let me work on it.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
That sounds almost like a chance. You're a chance. We
got to take the show to Las Vegas to watch
Backstreet All I.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
Will say is that there's no such thing as a
free lunch.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
No, wait for the we always say about Ali. She's
not happy unless one of us is sad, and she's
extra happy if all of us don't work that out.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
So let's she didn't say no.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I will let that simmer for a bit and we'll
come back.

Speaker 10 (03:06):
Are you going to.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Work on something, Alie?

Speaker 8 (03:08):
I'm working on it now.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Okay, it'd be awesome, that'd be so good.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
Still, surely, Okay, Well, if you want to go to
see Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
I'm hoping to go to Vegas with you so you
can see Backstreet Boys. That's fine, my mate.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
She will come back degenitively one way or another. Yeah, quickly,
because she knows that if she says.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
No, then we have to let it go.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Watch this space. It's Roberty Keep Now with Correo. It's
on Kiss ninety seven to three.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Now with Choreos. The Podcast.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
It's Robin and Kip Now with Coreo. It's on Kiss
ninety seven to three. Now, over the last sort of
twenty minutes, we played a Backstreet Boys song and and
Corey again reiterated his love of the Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
Shocking and all of us I love them.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
We've discussed the fact that they are actually about to
do a residency in Las Vegas at the Sphere at
this like what an amazing place to see him, and
Corey is wondering whether we can go. Now, Ali, our
boss did not say straight up no.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
So we pulled her in here.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Yeah, got an evil look on face.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, why have you got this clint in your eye?
What have you come up with?

Speaker 9 (04:12):
I'm not saying no, it could happen really absolutely. Now,
you wanted to be a Backstreet boy. What I'm hearing
is that was kind of your life. You were wanting
to dance, you wanted to sing.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Oh I could sing?

Speaker 11 (04:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
So you're rather going to be on the wing for Queensland.

Speaker 8 (04:27):
You're going to be you chose the life of a
brom car, right. So how's this for a challenge.

Speaker 9 (04:35):
If you become a Backstreet boy, learn the moves, do
the music, sing the songs, be the best Backstreet boy
you were meant to be.

Speaker 8 (04:44):
We will go to Vegas.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Come on, come on, you can, you can get us there.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Look, yeah, if that gets me to Vegas, to get
to go watch these blokes, yep, I will try my best.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
So you're thinking about him doing some type of.

Speaker 9 (04:59):
Perform absolutely, we will brainstorm.

Speaker 8 (05:02):
This after the show minutes. Yep, we'll work it out.

Speaker 9 (05:06):
If you become a Backstreet Boy, you get to go
to Vacas.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Do you want it enough?

Speaker 5 (05:11):
The same thing on Confident the singing dancing these hips
is you know you thought.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Your knees were going to have a breakup.

Speaker 11 (05:18):
He left.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
Now you're going to be dropping low buddies.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
I feel like we'll do Okay, we'll don't care.

Speaker 12 (05:27):
Vega will be the best thing ever.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, okay, you're very quiet.

Speaker 8 (05:31):
Still, make it happens, it Happen'll make it happen.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
If we build it, we can go do what they can't.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Do they're not meant to be able to do.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Okay, Okay, this is excited. I'm gonna have to Textnomi.
I might be going to Vegas.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Running now with the.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Earlier in the show, we played a bit of Backstreet Boys,
and directly after I think snowball for about half hour, they.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
Have announced that they're doing a residency at the Sphere
in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
I mean, can we go.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
That many times?

Speaker 8 (06:11):
We just give me a minute.

Speaker 9 (06:15):
So you're such a huge fan, you're clearly passionate about it.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
It's not a no, let me work on it.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
That sounds almost like and Haley's on the phone. Haley's
actually been to see the Backstreet Boys quite recently last
year in Paris.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Our idea of going you reckon, it's a good thing.

Speaker 11 (06:32):
If you can get this query, if you can swindle this,
oh my goal it will be I'm sorry, it'd be
better than your wedding day.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Ali Boss did not say straight up no.

Speaker 8 (06:45):
So how's this for a challenge?

Speaker 9 (06:47):
If you become a Backstreet boy, learn the moves, do
the music, sing the.

Speaker 8 (06:53):
Songs, be the best Backstreet boy you were meant to be.
We will go to Vegan.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Come on, howme on you can get you can get
us that? Do you want it enough?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
The same thing.

Speaker 7 (07:05):
I'm confident.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
The singing, dancing we'll do okay, So it just requires
you to become a Backstreet ball that that's all Backstreet boy.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Do you want to check we were saying about your.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Singing because you're not confident about the dancing, but you
are confident about the singing.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
I can work, can come out of my mouth easily.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
It's just it's dancing well. Ali, our bosses put together
a montage to suggest that maybe you should be concerned
about both, to believe.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
Free, Just to be clear, that's you're confident.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
That's the thing.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
A lot of people are coming through on the text
line trying to get us involved. So Haley has said
love the Backstreet Boys, but we're missing a massive opportunity here.
How about a double wedding in Vegas, Kip and Naomi
and Robin and Ollie. I do anything to.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Be there for that. That's a great idea.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
What do we need to do to turn this guy,
Corey Oats into a Backstreet boy?

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Yeah? I mean obviously he's got the singing down pat,
We've heard that. So what about the dancing? How are
we going to get your dancing properly? Because you do that.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
I wouldn't say properly, I'd just say dance.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
What about the look? What about the clothes?

Speaker 6 (08:48):
What do we need to do to get Corey Oates
to become a Backstreet boy?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
We need your suggestions? Thirteen one oh six five.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Now with the podcast, let's talk about Corey maybe becoming
a Backstreet boy and therefore getting us all to Vegas
to see the show.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
Yes, so Claudine a red Land Bay, we were asking
what do we need.

Speaker 11 (09:10):
To do Colly, it needs to be a Backstreet boy.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
But he really needs a singing coach.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
A singing coach.

Speaker 11 (09:19):
Yes, he really needs to sing in cakes.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
Yeah, even though that's the Bitty's confident with, it's the microphones.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
You wouldn't believe it blaming the mics.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I'm Achelle of Redcliff. What do you think we need
to do?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Look, I've just heard a lot of that singing all
in one go, and I think there's a bit of pitch.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
There was beautiful.

Speaker 11 (09:39):
Yeah, there's a lot of work that needs to be done.

Speaker 8 (09:41):
Corey.

Speaker 11 (09:42):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 12 (09:43):
Have you tried to be Lady Gaga before?

Speaker 7 (09:44):
Okay?

Speaker 11 (09:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yes? For those for those that missed it, this is
a little bit of Corey performing the shallows.

Speaker 7 (10:00):
Just is it the microphones?

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Microphone?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah? J Low Pittball on the floor, it's Robing and
Kip Now with Coo. It's on Kids ninety seven three n.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Now with Chios the podcast.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Halfway through the podcast, so we have this podcast and
then every Thursday, Corey and I put out another podcast
called on the Punt where we go through every every
game in the round and have suggested bets and tryscorers
and things. And you'll remember last week Thursday was a
good win for us where it was kicked off the
round well very well, a great start, and then that

(10:39):
was well, that was our only collect for the weekend.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
I made.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I made, I made a kip stuff.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Remember there was teething issues the week before. Now I
didn't I didn't put the bet on that Corey had
suggested all this time. I put it in Corey's hands,
so you do it.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
And I forgot to put the bet on that I suggested.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
So if you put the bet on, you would have
done Okay, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
We still have our money, would at least be even.
So you zip again, we have to reload again.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
How much reloading is going on?

Speaker 1 (11:06):
We're put in fifty eight and.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Now it's another fifty to another fifty. I mean, you
do realize the whole concept of podcasts is that you're
supposed to do well.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
It is it's sambling.

Speaker 7 (11:17):
If we if we unlocked a system, we would be millions.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
If we singlearly back to everyone we picked.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, would be fine.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
I mean maybe this podcast could be called on the punt,
but not like yeah, if.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
You want to know the want No, I mean it's
on the punt, not on the money.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
You know, we don't we.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Don't necessarily get it right, which is we're just having
a crack.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Let's be honest.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Everyone loves that intro now, who can Oh?

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Yes, and we had we had Harry Grant, If Harry
Grant had scored on Thursday, we would have got eight
hundred dollars from from a ten dollar bet one person.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
That's my favorite. It's his every punter away.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Yeah, exactly what's on the house?

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Taking in Naomi about it?

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Are we don't have to worry about this headache? So
I love.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
I love that you are actually something that you were
so excited about is now becoming a warning to everyone else.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
You are you watched you watch this? Yeah, we're going
to rebuild from here. Is lots of you know, this
is the story is it was easy. Right now we've
been knocked out. We're on the ropes, but we're coming
to and we're going to swing swing now the podcast,

(12:53):
So Friday Night, the Broncos defeated the Cowboys at sun
Corpse Stadium, packed house and Corey before the game was
taken out onto the field and Sammy Thayder had a
chat with him and was able to actually farewell the
Brisbane crowd.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yeah, which is great.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yeah, that was.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
Nice to get interviewed by Sammy. Played the fair few
games with him obviously, and yeah, always sort of listen
to a lot of things that he tried to help
me with an advice he gave. So it was nice
getting interviewed by him.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
And at halftime, you also chatted televised chat with Darren Lockyer,
which we'll get to a little bit later on in
the show.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
Because something was happening that no one watching would know.
But if you were watching and you went, that's weird,
Corey will explain why.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yes, But so I said, you know, I wanted to
be there, and I said, I'm going to I'm going
to make sure I'm going to get there and take
some video for you and the kids because the New
Tigus and Hucks and Monty were going to be on
the field with you. And so I got to the game,
but I only had a regular sort of media pass,
which gets you up into the media box but doesn't
get you onto the field. But anyway, I managed to

(13:58):
get myself into the tunnel stage once I got in. Yeah,
and because I did the on ground stuff for five
years and so I was always you know, and my
old station we were partners, so most you know, all
security guys knew me and stuff. They said, oh, yeah,
come on through. And then next thing you know, somebody said, oh,
you haven't got a wrist band to get out here,
and I said, yeah, can you get me one of those?

(14:18):
And they went, yeah, sure mate. You know, so then
all of a sudden I had the on ground wristband
and I thought, here we go. It's it's good. And
I was trying to call Corey, but I knew he
was busy to say hey, can you try and get
me out? So then next thing you know, I'm walking out.
I'm onto the ground and I can see Corey over
there with his family and about to walk on to
walk onto the mic with Sammy. So I go over
and I start filming and I'm getting photos Hucks playing

(14:41):
up Hucks going nuts. Poor Tiguan's trying to wrangle him,
and then all of a sudden, one of the one
of the main staff from the Broncos has spotted me
filming and like she's just come running over and gone,
you're not supposed to be here because the other radio
station Nova are you to it. They pay a lot
of money to be partners. So even though we are

(15:04):
sort of, you know, very in trench with the Broncos,
we're not officially entrenched. And so they were like, you're
not allowed to be here, and she just goes, you
need to go, you need to go now, and they
escorted me from the field really off.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
I'm sorry, you could have stationed into beach mid speech.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
Wait mid ball, I was getting asked.

Speaker 11 (15:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
So then when you were doing your little lap of
honor thing, I was getting I was bagging this in
but I was going down the tunnel.

Speaker 13 (15:34):
Butth but you were sweet.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Even miss didn't even care you there. He was like,
I was hugging Mitch there. You got to go, Mitch Lewis. Yeah,
so that's why. So we're not allowed to use any
of the footage I took, but I've been able to
share it with you at least.

Speaker 11 (15:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
Thinks it's nice to see Hucks kicking over the forty
twenty marker that Teagan told me about. The nurl guy
kept picking up and he just walked over and kick
it over again.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
This little thing it's four times, it's in the ground,
it's about foot tall and he was just giving it
the hardest.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Tellson wearing his footy boots.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
If he did that, it would have been it would
have been ten times worse. Oh really, he just he
would have been like, I need to be on the field.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
But these If you weren't listening last week, he's just
started to do like a little kickers pro.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yeah, he loves it.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
He's going to take after his father in law. He's
elbam blokes in the face already.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
And have you heard what James Bracey on Channel Line
said about you after your interview?

Speaker 5 (16:32):
He told me nice things. So this is bad and
I'll tell you what brace I'm coming.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
I'm not going to play it now. But why do
you want to hear it now? I want to hear it? Okay?
So this is after you've done your interview with Locke
and you answered a question that Lockie didn't ask and have.

Speaker 10 (16:47):
All the accolades and the support from those the supporters
here to on you enjoy some time with your family.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
Now, thanks mate.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
I can't wait.

Speaker 12 (16:55):
And four months I think so he told me to
get out of the So it's been nice and I
can't wait for his head.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I don't blame him.

Speaker 7 (17:06):
Thank you, Thank you lockey Corey.

Speaker 13 (17:08):
It's always keating for a yacht.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
And he certainly was right here.

Speaker 7 (17:13):
Thank grace at those nice things you said to me.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
It's going you two minutes over time you did you?
Could you not hear the beam?

Speaker 11 (17:25):
Now?

Speaker 4 (17:26):
With the post.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Friday night sun corpse Stadium, Broncos took on the Cowboys,
had a good win for the Bronx and before the game,
Cory was on the field with Tigus and Hunks Monty
waving farewell, a proper farewell to the fans. And people
have been turning out to see you over the last
decade and more going into it.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
No, I was, yeah, I was pretty sort of relaxed
and sort of ready to sort of do it and all.
I was just very so not surprised, but just sort
of I was a bit taken back on the crowd.
I know the raw, that's the part always I was
going to miss the most. So I got a little

(18:11):
bit emotional when they did that.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
So that was the moment.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Yeah, it was just because I knew I was going
to miss when I ran out, I used to circle
and feel the crowd and when you run out the raw,
when you run out, there's always really good and I
used to get goosebumps when I was playing, and then
I knew I was going to miss that. So as
soon as I did that when Semi started it, yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Because I was so annoyed it was not shown on
the Telly and I was flicking everywhere like I was
going Ko and Fox and nine and I'm like, I
just wanted to And I feel like that kind of
ripped off everyone that was watching the game. You were
such a huge part of the Broncos and potentially that's
the last time that will ever happen for you.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Yeah, and yeah, it was. It was nice and the
walkaround just made a lot more special.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
There was a few of the members, actually I saw
complaints because on a lot of different Instagrams and facebooks
and things like that. There was a few members that
complained that you didn't get around to the members before
you had to go.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Yeah, well, because I was going around, but I knew
that being so close to kick off everything's going to
run on time, Yeah, and it never does. And as
I was coming around, like they both teams started running out.
So the lady that was in control, she's like, you
can't go up there now they are about run out.
I said, but like that's probably the main part.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, the ones that paying a.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Lot of money to be there.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
And the other thing I loved you with all the
photos that I saw afterwards, is like Hucks and Monty,
I mean, it's been a part of their lives, their whole.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Lives, Monty Monty especially, she makes me sad.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
But why oh, just because I.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Think I was doing the week, She's like, you know,
are you coming to the footy dad? I'm like yeah,
She goes, you know, I know you're not going to
be playing anymore, but you know, are you going to
come sit with us? And like she she's realized that
it made me sad, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
You could tell us a five or six year old
that she took in what was happening. Yeah, Hucks, however
to whatever offer me. One bit that was televised is
you chatting with Darren Lockier at halftime? We got some
of that.

Speaker 12 (20:15):
I didn't think I was going to get a marshal,
but tears came out, and.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
That was nice. It was really nice.

and Kip now with Coreo. It's on Kiss ninety seven.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
Three Rowing now Vicorios the podcast.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Well, finally, I think the meetings are done and we're
going to have an announcement coming up for the next
twenty four hours about where we're going to have the
Olympic venues. And this man Tim Avia from Channel nine
has managed to find out the release early and can
tell us where things are going to be.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Morning, Tim, Morning, guys, tell are you yeah?

Speaker 7 (25:36):
Good?

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Okay? Where is the big stadium? What's going to happen?

Speaker 3 (25:40):
The big stadium is at Victoria Park, sixty thousand seats.
A lot of people sort of hinting saying, oh, we're
expecting it. I can tell you it is happening sixty
thousand seats at Victoria Park. People were wondering why it
might not be bigger. A lot of that comes down
to cost, building costs, also the cost of run a
bigger stadium. So some people were a bit disappointed at
it's not eighty thousand, but it.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Is a bit I will say, I mean, I think
Victoria Park's the right spot. I am a bit disappointed
that it's only like five thousand more seats than Sun Call.
If we want to have a decent sized stadium, it
seems like it's a very incremental step.

Speaker 10 (26:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Well, the problem with having an eighty thousand seat stadium
not only is cost a massive issue. As the government
tries to squeeze all these stadiums into the original seven
point one billion dollars that was promised to Queensland as taxpayers,
that's what we'd be spending. So they've got to try
and keep the cost down. Plus, once you go above
sixty thousand, there's not too many times that Brisbane will

(26:35):
sell out a sixty thousand feet stadium. And once you
go up to eighty thousand, not only is the building costs,
you've also got it costs more to open it, it
costs more to run it.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Have they not met Taylor Swift?

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Taylor Swift come here though? If you Talas Swift is
doing weekly concert and selling it out, then sure it
would be worth eighty thousand. Is an arena Victoria Stadium? Yes,
Victoria Park Stadium will be around round one for the
athletics and then that will host cricket and.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
Cricket Okay, yeah, so then what happens to the Gabba,
and I.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Think the Gabba will be used for cricket while Victoria
Park is being built. There's a pretty good chance Queensland
Cricket have wanted to hold the gold medal match as
the Gabba's final match at the twenty thirty two Olympics
and then it'll probably be demolished after that, and I'm
sure we'll see some parkland to replace the green space there.

(27:35):
Affordable housing. I'm sure it will be constructed around there
as well.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
It'll be a school. Happy to hear that.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, now, what about what about an indoor stadium? We're
not surely we're not sticking with Boondle. What are we
doing for entertainment center and for like you know, games,
lay basketball and things like that.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
So, as we reported on on Friday night on nine News,
the Brisbone Arena is getting scrapped. So that's gone. So
that'll disappoint people who like concert venues a better concert venue,
because it looks like Boundles still going to be our
option for some time to come.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Why did we build that?

Speaker 7 (28:11):
Wasn't that?

Speaker 1 (28:14):
That's disappointing, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (28:16):
When you go out there, there's a lot of concrete,
It is yes, So we'll have to wait and see
what the government says about that. I'm sure they'll be
looking to try to get a private company down the
line to try and build an arena in the inner city,
maybe one of those private public partnership deals where the
state government will give someone some land and they can
build it and then run it.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
But until that happens, surely the footprint of the gas
Surely the footprint of the Gabba. When they get rid
of the Gabba, put an arena there, it doesn't take
up extra space, we get more seats.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
It's funny you say that, because that is what the
Independent Olympic Review that was doing the one hundred day
review of all the venues recommended. They said, right next
to the Gabba, on the old go print site above
the Cross River rail build the indoor arena there Brisbane
Live Arena, and after that then it can be turned
into a concert venue. And it was the recommendation was
to host the swimming. The government is going to go

(29:06):
away from that. They're going to build a National Aquatic
Center instead. They're not going to go ahead with the
Brisbane Live Arena, and they want to use that two
point five billion dollars which was getting given to us
from the federal government for other venues, including that new stadium.
So that's going to cause a hell of a fuss politically,
and we'll wait and see with some of these venues

(29:26):
whether that actually happens. Is going to tell you that,
I'm told the federal government wants to move the tennis
to Melbourne and they will use that two point five
billion dollars as a bargaining chip as well, So that's
not stupid.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Now you've obviously got your hands on this report early, Tim,
but when's it actually coming out officially?

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Tomorrow, so that's when it'll all be released and the
government response will be released as well. So I still
think there might be some venues up in the air
that they have to go and negotiate with the federal
government or negotiate with councils. But we might not get
everything locked down, but those big things we'll be there.
We'll see the National Aquatic Center, we'll see Victoria Park,
and we'll see that Brisbane Live Arena.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Scrapped excellent, and we'll see more of you with the
Rundown tonight on Channel nine. Thanks for joining us, Tim,
Thanks thanks guys.
