Speaker 1 (00:01):
Rob and Kidd Now with Corey the podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
So Friday night, the Broncos defeated the Cowboys at sun
Corpse Stadium, packed house and Corey before the game was
taken out onto the field and Sammy Thayder had a
chat with him and was able to actually farewell to
Brisbane crowd.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, which is great.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Yeah, that was nice to get interviewed by Sammy. Played
the fair few games with him obviously, and yeah, always
sort of listen to a lot of things that he
tried to help me with an advice he gave. So
it was nice getting interviewed by him and.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
At halftime, and you also chatted televised chat with Darren Lockyer,
which we'll get to a little bit later on in
the show.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Because something was happening that no one watching would know.
But if you were watching and you went that's weird,
Corey will explain why.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yes, But so I said, you know, I wanted to
be there, and I said I'm going to I'm going
to make sure I'm going to get there and take
some video for you and the kids, cause the New
Tigus and Hucks and Monty were going to be on
the field with you, and so I got to the game,
but I only had a regular sort of media pass
which gets you up into the media box but doesn't
get you onto the field. But anyway, I managed to
(01:11):
get myself into the tunnel once I got in. Yeah,
and because I did the on ground stuff for five
years and so I was always you know, and my
old station, we were partners, so most you know, all
security guys knew me and stuff. They said, oh, yeah,
come on through. And then next thing you know, someone said, oh,
you haven't got a wrist band to get out here,
and I said, yeah, can you get me one of those?
(01:31):
And they went, yeah, sure mate. You know, so then
all of a sudden I had the on ground wristband
and I thought, here we go. It's good. And I
was trying to call Corey, but I knew he was
busy to say hey, can you try and get me out?
So then next thing you know, I'm walking out. I'm
onto the ground and I can see Corey over there
with his family and about to walk on to walk
onto the mic with Sammy. So I go over and
(01:51):
I start filming and I'm getting photos hucks playing up hucks,
going nuts, poortigue and trying.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
To wrangle him.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Yeah, could go wrong.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
And then all of a sudden one of the one
of the main staff from the Broncos has spotted me
filming and is and like she's just gone running over
and gone. You're not supposed to be here because the
other radio station Nova, where I used to work, they
pay a lot of money to be partners. So even
though we are sort of, you know, very in trench
with the Broncos, we're not officially entrenched. And so they
(02:20):
were like, you're not allowed to be here, and she
just goes, you need to go, you need to go now,
and they escorted me from the field.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
You could have station into beach mid speech, Wait.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
MIDI I was getting.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So then when you were doing your little lap of
honor thing, I was getting. I was bagging this in
but I was going down the tunnel.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
You were sweet, even miss didn't even get you there.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I was hugging Mitch.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Mitch Lewis.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So that's why. So we're not allowed to use any
of the footage I took, but I've been able to
share it with you at least.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Thanks, It's nice to see Hucks kicking over the forty
twenty marker that Teagan told me about the nurl guy
kept picking up and he just walked kick it over again.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
This little thing it's four times, it's in the ground,
it's about foot tall and he was just giving it
the hardest time, wearing his footy boots.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
If he did that, it would have been it would
have been ten times worse. Oh really no, he just he
would have been like, I need to be on the field.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
But these if you weren't listening last week, he's just
started to do like a little kickers pro.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Yeah, he loves it. He's going to take after his
father in law, his elbam blokes in the face already.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
And have you heard what James Bracy on Channel Line
said about you after your interview.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
He told me nice things.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So this is bad.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
I'll tell you what brace I'm coming.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
I'm not going to play it now. But why do
you want to hear it now?
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I want to hear it?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Okay, So this is after you've done your interview with
Lockey and you answered a question that Lockie didn't ask and.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Deserve all the accolades and the support from the supporters
here tonight you're enjoy some time with your family.
Speaker 6 (04:06):
Now, thanks mate, I can't wait and think of it.
Four months in I think Taken told me to get
out of the house. So yeah, it's it's it's been
nice and I can't wait for his head. I don't
blame her, thank you, Locky Corey. It's always keating for
a yak.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
And he certainly was right here.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Than little.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Those nice things you said to me, going you two
minutes over time? You did you? Could you not hear
the being.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Nervous going into uh No, I was.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, I was pretty sort of relaxed and sort of
ready to, yeah, sort of do it. And I don't know,
I was just very surprised, not surprised, but just sort
of I was a bit taken back from the crowd
to the I know the rules, that's the part always
and I was going to miss the most. So I
got a little bit emotional when they did that.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
So that was the moment.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Yeah, it was just because I knew I was going
to miss. When I ran out, I used to circle
and feel the crowd and when you run out the rule,
when you run out there's always really good and I
used to get goosebumps when I was playing, and then I
knew I was going to miss that. So as soon
as I did that, when Sammy started it, yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Because I was so annoyed it was not shown on
the Telly and I was flicking everywhere like I was
going Ko and Fox and nine, and I'm like, I
just wanted to And I feel like that kind of
ripped off everyone that was watching the game. You were
such a huge part of the Broncos and potentially that's
the last time that will ever happen for you.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, and yeah it was. It was nice and the
walkaround just made a lot more special.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
There was a few of the members, actually, I saw
complaints because on a lot of different instagrams and facebooks
and things like that. There was a few members that
complained that you didn't get around to the members before
you had to go.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Because I was going around, but I knew that being
so close to kick off, everything's going to run on time. Yeah,
and it never does. And as I was coming around,
like they both teams started running out. So the lady
that was in control, she's like, you can't go up
there now. They're aoutter run out. But like that's probably
the main part.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
The ones that paying a lot of money to be
there and The other thing I loved you with all
the photos that I saw afterwards is like Hucks and Monty,
I mean, it's been a part of their lives, their
whole lives. Monty.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Monty especially she makes me sad. But why just because
I think I was doing the week She's like, you know,
are you coming to the footy dad? I'm like yeah,
She goes, you know, I know you're not going to
be playing anymore, but you know, are you going to
come sit with us? And and like she she's realized
that it made me sad, but.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, you could tell us a five or six year
old that she took in what was happening. Yeah, Hucks, however.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
To whatever for me.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
But one bit that was televised is you chatting with
Darren Lockier at half time. We've got some of that.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
I didn't think I was going.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
To get a marshall, but a few tears came out
and that was nice.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
It was really nice.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
I guess when you first retire, and I remember the
same thing when you when you physically feel like you
can still do it, I feel like you want to
bring the books back.
Speaker 6 (07:17):
I wanted to make sure I made the O decision
and and you know, while it was hard hard to
come here, and like you said, watch and not me. No,
you're not going to be a part of that ever again.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
And it's hard, but I'm.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Never gonna be disappointed or regret anything I've ever done
in my career. And it's really nice to come here
and I'm going to watch and I get to experience
what I got to start being in.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
For a while. And you were saying, Cory that it
was really hard to hear Lockie because the living in
we're playing in, the living.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
In playing white noise, and that they've got to ear
pieces in each other. Yeah, and made all the way
I'm not going to be able to hear. And he goes, yeah,
it's all right, like you'll understand. Then at the end
of it, I said, I got no idea what you said.
I just live it and stuff. He goes, no, you
(08:13):
were good, Yeah, because.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
You did finish with an answer to a question that
nobody asked.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
All the accolades and that it supports here tonight you
enjoy some time with your family.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
Now, thanks mate, I can't wait. And four months in
I think Taken told me to get out of the house.
So yeah, it's it's been nice and I can't wait
for head.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
I don't blame back.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
To your brice, thank you, Luckey, it's always keeping fore.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
It's just.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
I said like I was, my hair was out.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
He goes, No, you were really good. Thanks.
Speaker 3 (08:50):

Nation will miss you so much. So yeah, you've got
a lot of love there.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
It was when we're walking around, like you know, the
old Mexican wave, and I guess see everyone stands up. Yeah,
as I was sort of getting to each section, they
all started stand up, clapp and so yeah, that made
me a little bit emotional again, but it was just
the crowd that got me emotional this time.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
So yeah, well, congratulations made it was great to be
there and see it.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Thank you.
