Speaker 1 (00:12):

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Robini and Kiff Now with Coryo.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
It's the podcast Great Good.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Day Queensland Captain Cameron Monster joining us.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Cameron made how?

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I made how?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Not bad yourself? I know that voice from while away.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
We should start by saying congratulations.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I really appreciate that, guys, obviously not from the fellow
man I used to know when I was eleven years old.
You've heard Queen's going to stick together, but m fortunately
we don't.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I'm assuming you're talking about this moment. When we
asked Corey before you were named, who should be the captain?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
You wouldn't give it to Monster? I would, as much
as I love him. But was he get in trouble
just for talking too much to the rest?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
You know, maybe the Roague guys are the ones we.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Need right now.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I'm pretty sure rest can band, the captains will talk,
they can warn them, so I reckon he'll be the
first one to get it's fair though they come on, look.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's it's it's obviously valid in the times of obviously
having to go there. I'm trying to get a little
bit better than talking to the referees. Now where my
heart I must sleeve. But I don't know how you
guys in the studio deal with him because he's a
lot harder than me to work.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Do you reckon?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
So?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Do you reckon? Because I know Corey has talked about
that he was a bit of a difficult student, but
he also suggests that you were a nightmare. Do you
think who was worse your reckon?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
He was worse than me only because he was taller
than me, like you could actually out from the crowd.
I was still sure at that stage in my life.
And yeah, he's thought out like he's still the same
size he was when he was eleven years old when
he came over to my house. That's that toll he was.
He had to duck down underneath the doors.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
A whole lot with it.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Did you to get up to mischief as young fellas?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah? We actually we're in the same cricket team together
actually going through the grades. And I don't know what
it was, but he locked me in in the toilet
room door and I don't know what it was, but
as a kid, I'll got a bit of phobia and
I ended up breaking the door and oh yeah yeah,
and unfortunately we got in troubles pay for it, but
we did.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
And you've about being confined spaces ever since.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
All right, now a little bit more relaxed in that space.
But for some reason at that time when I was
a young kid, I just seemed like being locked up
and locked me up.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
And you still like this, man, I have to go.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I got no choices from Queens than you know when
I was a young kid. Here's my back row. I
made all these tacklers as.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Well, and all in all honesty, Corey was worried about
you maybe changing your game, having the extra pressure on
you as captain, and I guess that was you know,
from a from a place of love. Do you feel
Are you feeling extra pressure?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Not at all? I think for anything, I'm just enjoying
and and obviously leading this team around. I've never had
the opportunity to captain a team other than being into
him with the Noburn Stilm when harries me out. So look,
it's been a really enjoyable week. I haven't really changed
the whole heap. I feel like i'd like Cory spoke about,
I probably talk the whole heap, but Unfortunately, sometimes it's
rubbish that comes down in the bout. But before you
just going to get the boys a little bit more relaxed.

(03:34):
I know it's a big occasion for us going over
to Perth, but yeah, I think less is more and
there's more we can be relaxed and not worried about
footy before the game plays. It's going to go a
long way for us winning. We've had a great week
and hopefully we can build on that go over the
Perth today.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Did you did you well, not expect it, but when
obviously you heard you know there could be a captain change.
Did you like were your emotion when when Billy range
and told you.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah, well, funny enough. I actually went and got to
Oscar with the lads or a couple of boys, and
he messaged me can you come and see me in
my room? And I went, oh wow, what could this
be about? Because a little couple of moments before, obviously
Billy told Patty that he was going off the bench. Yeah,
I think I'm thinking of myself going on, no people
call me. I'm I'm thinking of myself going oh please,

(04:22):
don't be the case. And then he just said to me,
I want you to be the Captain of Queenslane and
I want you to lead the words out how he
feel about that, and probably there's a little bit of
emotional breakdown, probably just the way that's my journey's been,
like I've been obviously, my name's been thrown around a
lot of the articles at times in my career. And
then to be able to have that special moment with
the bloke I used to play with was pretty special.
So there were some tears in my eyes just the

(04:43):
reflect on the journey. You know, I've had time up
and the oubs of my career and I've had some highs,
but theyre also some loaves. So to be able to
go back on that and then where I've come from
now there's a pretty special moment to be able to
the name Captain Cam. It's in Perth.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
We've never won in Perth. It's such a big deal
going into this game. What do you think, how are
we going to go?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I think we're very confident, Like we can't have too
many high expectations. I think we had high expectations and
a Sun Corp and unfortunately just didn't go our way.
You know, like just a couple of display reasons like
grab on the head, just a couple of little incidentals
that we can't afford to be given them in game two,
you know. But like everyone spoke about with the Blues,
you know, they they haven't won back to that game
with Uncle, and they've done and they broke history. Like,

(05:28):
we've got to believe that we can do that. And
there's always, always always history, and there's always records to
be broken. You know, there's always something that's going to
be how the ordinary and things always happening, you know,
So for us, nothing's impossible. For us. We've got such
a great group and I believe that we can get
it done.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Yeah, I got believe in it too. But I want
to ask one more just quick run, what's with this
dirt in the boot? Like what's going on there? Like
I used to I used to rub your face in
that when we used to play against Is it true you.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Never made my tackle? You've never got your dirty jersey?

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Is it true though, that you've got a little bit
of a bit of rocky soil in your boots? So
when you run out in Perth?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah, well there was a little bit of a lot,
like a little bit of a promo explors and they
do this good concept was the put obviously home spirit
and home dirt into your boots, and they chose me.
I just wanted to let them know that we don't
need to make sure that I'm actually playing this game.
I did that, Homo about five or six months ago

(06:25):
before started. They went to Rocky, they went to Jimmy Ground,
got the dirt out of the out of the ground,
and they put it in my boots. So hopefully when
I go out now on Wednesday night and berths a
little bit of a Queensland spirit, honess.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Good well, my Honestly, I wanted to be honest, well,
I want to be a bit serious and say congratulations. Honestly,
I'm proud of you. I know your family would be.
But it's a huge honor.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Mate.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
I never expected, you know, something that's happened to one
of us. But I'm so happy that it's you. So
good luck on on Wednesday night, mate, And yeah, yeah give.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
It to him. Yeah, thanks, guys, really appreciate it. Unfortunately
for you guys, obviously anyone you can get a job
on radio.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Now, I might have a bit of a job good anytime,
so good might have have a have a cracking game.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
We love that you're in charge and play your natural game.
We can't wait to see you rip out for Queensland.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
No I, thank you so much, Love you best, Thanks
my bye,
