Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tit one of four point sevens. Rod and Gabby, thanks

(00:02):
for joining us this morning. Great to havevy on board.
How to you who? We're looking forward to coming to
town and it's not far away. Hey, this has crept
up on us really fast. It's like only a month
and a halfway, so you better get your tickets Canberra Theater.
Pete Murray's coming and he's going to keep touring before
he does a look to look, this tour is so
big he'll head off for a little bit longer and
come back and play the queue.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, in September. In September we get double Pete.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Pete's on the line, Get I Pete.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
How are you MATEO morning guys, Yeah, how are you good?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Welcome back to Australia. How did New Zealand go?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh's great? Yeah, really good? And I haven't been over there.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Well, I haven't done my own shows for twenty years,
almost twenty years now.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I went back and did a festival there like last year.
I think it was, which is great, but yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
My own show has been like twenty years since I've
been back there, so it was really it was amazing,
you know, this scene Longe was incredible, like Australia and
good vibe, so you know, looking forward to getting back
there again a bit more off now, great beautiful country.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Well travel and a colm is it's a consideration when
you've got sixty stops and you take care of yourself.
I assume you go to the gym, you know, as
part of a regular routine. What is that like? And
how dodgy are some of these gyms that you find?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Yeah, and then there's not much stuff in there, so
you've got to kind of make up different exercises to
keep you know, even if there's no way to eastern
the hotel and doing different things like sit up, push up,
some lunges, whatever you can do.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You know, grab the grab a door and do some
chin ups on a door and just what have you got?
You just got to work with it.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
So as long as you're getting heart rate up for
half an hour or so, and you know that makes
you feel a lot better, I want you to go
into the too.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
If you do nothing, it's pretty difficult.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
You're a sensible focus bloke. But I like the idea
of the prospective headlines Pete Murray Trash's hotel room. When
that door you're doing chin ups on comes crashing down.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah. See, luckily that that hasn't happened yet, but yeah,
put the malls on you. Interesting story, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
You were on the cover of Men's Health two years
ago and you said that was like the best shape
of your life at fifty three years of age. Have
you been able to maintain that or is that something
that's just not maintainable. That was like a a goal
and then you've just kept as much up as you can.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
I kind of kept fairly close to that. I mean,
it's all in your diet really and obviously excise too.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
But to get to that level that's that's really focused.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
On your diet cutting out all carbs and sugars and
gets a bit bland after while. You don't sort of
keeping that for the for the rest of your rest
of your life, you know, if you like to have
I mean, you know, we'll got taste buds. You want
to have something nice, So that kind of pretty bland.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
For like twelve weeks, I did that thing and it
was and it's good.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
At the end, you just shredded, you know, but it's
it's something that you can't wait to you know, the
whole time. It's pretty much craving like and I never
craved this stuff, but I was craving like ice creams
and Mars bars, you know, and you just you it's
hard because you just cut at all your sugars and
suddenly just you're sort of craving it.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That would be the worst on the road too, because
you're just at servos every day.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
That's that's the danger for working out. I mean, that's
exactly right. The diet.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, yeah, exactly know so, and that's the thing I
sort of do look for self eating with what I
that dies of.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
The biggest thing really that he goes stick to it
that you can keep yourself in chat pretty well.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
You take your dog on tour a little bit. Is
he going to be on tour for the entire time
of these fifty stops?

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Ruby, she the girl, Sorry, she's she's she'll be at home.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
You can hear her. She's sitting beside me snoring at
the moment. So she's just going to be, you know,
guard dog around here while you know.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
You see those videos when you know, our servicemen and
women come back from serving overseas and the dog doesn't
recognize them after after sixty stops, Mate, you'll get home
and Ruby you'll be looking twice and is this bloke?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Well, I think she's probably more peeved mate, that you're
not home. You know, she knows who you are, but
she's just brushing it.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's a good point. Where have you been? That's true.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
It's lots lots of pats, lots of pats to get
it back in the good books.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
You're home in bar and Bay after the New Zealand tour.
But you're a country Queensland kid from a little town
called Chinchilla. And we had a quick word before the
interview started off air and gave you said, oh that
the home of the Chinchilla met.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
What it is, it's a Chinchilla watermelon Fest. It's very
specifically watermelons, but I missed that bit when I mentioned
it earlier. There's so much fun. They do watermelon skiing,
so you put your feet in watermelons and then they
pull you along with a rope along like a slippery tarp.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
It's good fun. Is this a new thing?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Painte?

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Was this there when you're in I've sort of moved
out of town, but they've they've brought us back in.
How long they've been going for a long time and
I've never been to one. I've they've talked about getting
out there to play it one, but for some reason
I couldn't do it.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
The other city go before.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I was always kind of wondering, do they have a
Miss Melons, And if they do have a Miss Melons,
is that kind.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Of a bit risky?

Speaker 1 (04:42):
There should always be an ambassador for these sorts of events.
I never asked me, Well, dab, I think that's that's
opportunity missed on their part. Well, we we we have
young nearby, and of course that's we have the Cherry
Queen absolutely always always crowned each year for the Cherry Festival.
We're very pleased Camber Theater Center. Get your tickets now

(05:05):
because they are selling very fast and they certainly won't
be around by Sunday, July twenty, which is when you're here, mate.
I wasn't in front of that crowd for the Anzac
Day Clash a couple of weeks ago. There the dons
and the pies. That would have been something else.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah, it's good, guys, but you're just sort of playing
in that venue. It's such a big venue in so
much space.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
In the center. It's like it's enormous.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
You know, when we have to have innis when you're playing,
because if you don't having you kind of monitors because
you get this bounce off the back off the round.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Think that son, it's like an echo that you hear
for yourself.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
It's kind of very strange but amazing being part of
that game.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
And it's AFL history, isn't it That one? That Anzac
Day game.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Oh you're not wrong, you're not wrong. You're part of
history that day. That was cool, all right, mate, really
appreciate the time. We look forward to seeing you here
and we'll catch up before the que as well, so
that'd be really cool. Travel safe when you're out there.
Give the dog a pat and we'll chat soon.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Cheers. Guys, love you to talk, so yeah,
