Yeah, welcome friends to the Christian O'Connell show podcast. I
gotta be honest.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I am upset today supposed to going to I suppose
we've gone to corplay last night my wife and single
life loads sounds like brilliant life, just joyous.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
They put some great shows and but why it's not.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Being very well? So we couldn't go last night. I
was doing the right thing. I was looking after my wife.
And then I come this morning and one of the
movies I love aravit is The Karate Kid, and it
comes this morning. It's actually like the world has gone.
You really made a mistake yesterday, even when I said
I couldn't go, or I said you can go, and
you know you have a half a beat, don't you,
And I just went, I can't do that.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
You're not well.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
And I knew that she wanted me to make that decision,
but the real meat inside there was like that is
selfish Sarah. Anyway, last night last night, I can't play.
Chris Martin just dies some a film and music video
with Ralph Matcio The Karate Kid. I cannot believe this
happened last night. I just did you predict Ralph is here.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Daniel LaRusso is in Melbourne.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I get a message here from one of you five
minutes ago, Christian, are you comfortless? Thing? Tonight, I'm taking
my fourteen year old and my twelve year olds to
a fourtieth anniversary screening of The Karate Kid. It includes
a meet and greet with Ralph himself, match the other
Karati Kid, and Cobra Kai Sensi, who was terrifying in
the movie. John Crease the cast to here we please,

whoever this say is you put your name on that,
please let me know. I'd love to try and come
along to that tonight. So anyway, last night, Sue, our boss,
was there. She recorded this audio because she couldn't believe
what was happening. Ralph Matchio was in the crowd. They
we're making a video for a new Cal't Play song
called The Karate Kid.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
So suddenly early.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
On the show, there's a big picture of a scene
from The Karate Kid, and Chris Martin starts explaining what
is going to happen.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's Karate Kid to the movie from nineteen eighty four
before a lot of you were born.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
When I watched that.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
As a kid, it made me feel like, Oh, there's
an inner Daniel in all of us. I like that
part of you that you need to find overcome adversity.
A song came through a few months ago and it's
called Karate Kid, and the chorus was wanting to make
me sing about Daniel.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I mean, it's lovely that young Chris Martin thought, oh,
you know, he got the big idea, But I just
want to learn how to roundhouse or front kick Nemesis
it at school.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
But Chris goes on.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
So what we did this week called Ralph Machiol, who
is Karate Kid. He's now sixty three years old. He
lives in New York City, except he's not in New
York City today. He's and the permission of the Australian government,
he might just be here in Melbourne. We'll see song.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
And in the crowd, the spotlight falls on Ralph Daniel LaRusso.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
The plot of this video is that on the streets
of Melbourne, Ralph is trying to become a singer and
everybody rejects him. But he comes to our show and
I lost my voice and I'm going to see him
in the crowd, and then he's going to come up
on stage he's going to sing this song called karate
Is that something an innd would be interesting to.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
See letten him work and it's crowd like a pro.
He knows what he's doing.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
I can't wait to hear this song, Karate Kid?

So last night, second night here at Marvel Stadium in
Melbourne for Coldplay Extraordinary Scenes. Midway through the concert, Chris
Martin starts to making music video for a forthcoming song
by Can't Play called the Karate Kid in the crowd
as the main style of the song is the karate
Kid himself. Ralph Matsio, we're just asking if any of
you were actually there last night, Sam, you were.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
I was there. It was awesome and he asked everyone
not to put it on YouTube or radio stations.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Or radio for that matter. He wanted to keep the secret.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
But it was a brilliant tough to keep fifty thousand
people into a secret, isn't it really really hard?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
It was an amazing show, Sam.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
It was worth going to great.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Okay, Sam, have a lovely long weekend. That's got a Brad.
I was also there as well. Brad, good morning, Good
day Christian. How are you so make me jealous? I
was supposed to be there last night, and then the
Karate Kids there, not just Coldplate must have been awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
We all thought it was just some kind of kooky
interval thing where the video came up, and then all
of a sudden he said he wanted to make a
clip and would be okay if we all just played along,
And next minute Ralph's on the stage. You could hear
the pin drop. It was fantastic and I go to
far as to say Ralph can sing.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
And so a great concert last night, Cold Play with
the Karate.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Kid, Yeah, terrific.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
We were.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
We were in the mosh pit, fifty year olds in
the mosh pit. It was sensational, great, great.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
But I didn't think of cole players moshing the sky
for the stars.
