Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, we've been watching Lego Masters. It's back on TV
Channel nine Sundays seven o'clock and seven thirty on Mondays
and Tuesdays. Remember the old days where the TV's the
shows would always be on at the same time. Now,
for some strange reason, they're on on Sundays at seven,

(00:22):
but through the week at seven thirty. Yeah. I don't know.
I don't like it. I have the right things.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, yeah, you know when you're going to miss.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
That, Hamish, can you sort that out? I like dipose
it's like the same time every snock. That's right, Jackie, Yep, yep.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
No way, yeah, the email man.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Another thing I want to ask as well, what we
got you is you know you're aware in the media
that this Kyle and Jackie O show is going to
get pumped out on a bigger scale into Melbourne live
on a pipe. Yeah that's right. Yeah, opening up another
another line of fun. A lot of people in Melbourne,
the other radio stations, they're all like, yeah, no one's

(01:04):
going to listen to it because they're not living in Melbourne. Now,
when you and Andy were on the National Show, were
people in Brisbane not liking you because you weren't living
in Brisbane or is this a bit of an archaic
it's not a real thing anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Right, very good question. Now, I think if you go
back and check Andy and I, you took it very seriously.
And we would spend one night in we'd live for
a day in Melbourne and on Tuesday we'd live for
that Brisbane. Thursday would go to Perth and every Friday
we were in Adelaide. On the weekends we'd go to
Tasmania just to understand the culture. And we'd do that

(01:41):
every single week.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
So Miss Darwin just missed out.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And then for public holidays yet we go to Dawa,
so that's a big committee. We do that because we're professional.
If you just want to stand to me because you're
treating it like a that's up to you. But that's
what we did and that's how we took our national show.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Was that was the secret to the success. I just
thought it was brilliant. Chat.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
It won't work unless you spend a night there. So
I'd like to see you guys on Yeah, just on
the nine oh five flights every morning down to the
other city or back up to the other city.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Fish. We didn't finish talking here until at least midday
in the midday flight.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So these Lego Masters. Is Australia against the world, right
it is?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
And we got four as well. Well, we've staffed the
deck a little bit because we've got four Australian teams
and then we have like you know, one team from
various other countries. So odds Australia will win about half
of the eighteen. I mean, if it was the Olympics
and this happened, people would smell a rat okay up
the Australian of two thousand people here and we're early

(02:52):
allowed to bring fourteen, Yeah, that would.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Be an issue.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And Sophy Monk is joining you. What will she be
doing on the show?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Said she's got a special skill, and I thought, well
what special? Is it a lego related skill or something else?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
We love first being on the show for a couple
like popped in various count for a few seasons. She
came into the Christmas special with us, So it's actually
just sort of evolved. I mean I take great excite,
I take great posture in watching the faces of the
contestants of the season goes on. But anytime we need
someone like impartial to sort of Judge or that hasn't
been you know there for the whole build. We'd love

(03:28):
to get Sophie just because she's great fun to have
on the show and she's sort of like the best
friends to show. But I keep telling the contestants, I'm like,
they's a surprise guest coming up. It's always so and
you'll sort of see like halfway through the season they're like,
and it's my favorite bit is like for the people
from other countries, like the Gentleman, it's like they don't
know idea, who's Sophie much so like I'll be like,

(03:49):
and guys, there's a very special surprise guest coming at
the end of the episode and near the Germans be like,
I think it's that month girl again.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Good. So are you have you stood on the lego
whilst filming because that will bring a grown man straight
down the old lego on the Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
No, we've had there was two other people were actually
slated the host show performing and they both went down.
They came in.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Therefore Andrew Keith went down lego.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
We did you know because Darren McMullen getting wheeled out
of screaming and pain holding his seat and I sped
in a third choice.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Oh god, that for you only slides. Yeah, so you
have you had no more robberies or any of these,
because you know you're always getting yourself into a spot
of bother you did.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I mean it's only happened once that.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I feel like it's happened three times, is what I
feel like.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
They kept They kept regurgitating the story, annoying.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Dragging it back up.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
That's three weeks, lucky.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Can this guy?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I would lock your door, bro, you'd learn after.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
That, be like, why does this guy keep getting robed elymail?
Keeps printing his address that's the house that happened, and
how they got and how they got in and what
the probable key code is that like where the security
cameras are blind and keeps getting wrong. We don't understand.

(05:22):
How how did you go? How are you feeling your house?
Are you secure? Everything? Go? Bro?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I'm like a prison mind you.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
How's the family going?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
It would be yeah, hectic?

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yeah, it is. Family's great. We're we're on school holidays
at the moment, so like many other families on school holidays,
Like we're right in that slot here of just before
an un'clock going what are we going to do today?
What is today? We got?

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Who plans that?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
What happening?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Do you plan the day?

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Or is it like the most creative dad when it
comes to making fun things for the family to.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Work at home with exactly the opposite.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I don't think so. He's like very very creative, glasses.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
On cardigan reading the paper. One of the kids to
get out, shut up, he's broken my pipe. No, I
mean we've got today, I've got some We've got some
time stuff happening today, We've got I'm gonna take my
little boy out. I'm well, I'm calling it an adventure.
But the sister market will be involved. And we're seeing
my dad's lunch. But what an adventure. And we've got

(06:25):
an art club going on. But this is the thing,
like we school holidays. I feel like it. It actually
reminds me a little bit of radio, like as you
guys have known, Like you get in before the show
and everyone's like, right, what are we going to do
on the show today? I feel like though, and I
have like a show brainstorm every morning we're like, okay,
like what can we do today? What anyone got any ideas?

(06:45):
And you always are sitting there going. I don't have
that many ideas, but I don't want to say that.
I'm going to pretend I do have some ideas. So
that's you know, we improvise all.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I regret leaving radio, which required you to come to
work every single day and leave most of the head
be lifting to your missus to look after the children.
Do you now feel that you're at home partaking in
the activities with the children, that you made a huge
hair and you should never have left radio.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Well, I've got to say no, I don't feel like
we'll be huge er leave radio. I've been podcasting does
give you a far better work life balance.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
But do you think the balance is off now? It's
all kids, no fun?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Well, I mean I do love time with the kids.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
That's what you and I is these kids right midday?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Oh yeah, yeah, there's no other reason. Carl's just avoiding
going home.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Well, what you suggest because I feel like a game
as you do this kind of like you come up
with creative things to do with the kids that don't
require money. So for parents listening and they're like, what
are we going to do today? What would be a
good suggestion of things you've done in the past?

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Putting them on the spot.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I feel like.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
I'm always a fan. Look, you know, I'm always a
fan of like anything that gets anything that gets kids outside,
I'm always a big fan of I have done. I mean,
this reguires a slight bit of effort, but like I
remember when the kids are a little bit little, like
a year or two ago, we hadn't a slow day,
and you write a bunch of like clues just on
scraps of paper, but you then put in your pocket

(08:20):
but pretend that there's like you know, there's been clues
left around the neighborhood, and you just get to various
plays of the neighborhood and then just quietly that just
like chuck the letter out of your pocket and be like,
oh my god, we fold another clue. Man, you can
kill two hours going on a walk like that. That's
an easy one.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Rather myself, what do you find at the end of it?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
What's your little present that you're planting?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, you do. It'd have to like it do always
have to end with something like a doughnut or whatever.
But if you can milk it for two hours, you've
done all right.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
They love treasure hunt so much, don't they. Yeah, yeah,
that was Kitty's favorite thing to do as well.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
The new generation of real young ones, like I've got
they grow out of that rubbish.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
No running into it? What do you? What do you?
What's your what's your your? What's your go to game with?

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Well, a lot of a lot of Miss Rachel watching.
Have you watched her on the on YouTube? This Miss Rachel.
She's like some sort of like YouTube kid expert. She
teaches them things. You know, have you seen that?

Speaker 3 (09:25):
That's good? I mean the world of view, Like the
things on YouTube flow my mind, Like where the kids
You're like, what is this junk? And then you say
it's got like one hundred and fifty million views or whatever.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
There's kids all over the world being forced to watch this.
But at our joint, it's it's weird because when you're
watching YouTube on TV in the middle of the show
and ad.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Will just come on and she now pay for a subscription?
Why don't you?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
You still get the app?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Now you don't? You don't you know you're obviously not
paying for it.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Well, I don't know how that bullshit works. It's not
much as it comes to get me in from my room.
When the ads on like to come and fix it?
Wants no commercials whatsoever? At eighteen months?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
What do you do? Hang on? So you're in your room?
What are you doing in your room while you do
you know, cutting up? Not paying for subscription?

Speaker 1 (10:24):
So what I have to pay? And then that all
those ads gow and he doesn't have to come in
and bother me? Is what that?

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah, you won't have any ads, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Problem sorted. Thank you for the update.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Lego Masters on Channel nine Sunday seven o'clock and seven
thirty Mondays and Tuesdays.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
What's a like over at Channel nine? Are they snooty
over there? Or are they all? Now?

Speaker 3 (10:46):
We're pretty good? I think pretty good at the moment.
I mean, they don't go into their headquarters a lot.
Why not, nobely, I just go into a large shed
and we make Lego Masters at Fox Studios, so we
spend our time and Fox Studios.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
So I think you'll find it's nearly been renamed, you.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Know, very empty Disney.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
But really it will always be Fox to us, even
though they've got the beginning.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
It's Disney Studios. I'm pretty sure. I Mean, I like
to think that we're on the same like in the
same studios where four was made. I'm pretty sure I'm
in Chris Ham's worksold Green Room, which is far less
rock and woll than it sounds. It just looks like
a doctor's waiting office. But that's what I like to
tell myself what I'm about making Lego.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Well, I like the show and I've never really used Lego,
but there's quite skilled here. Oh we wanted to ask
that one question. Where do you find all these nerds
or do they find you?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
How to catch a nerd? Yes? There is, Well, we
do put a custing out through the Lego community and we.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Exist parallel to the black community.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Where do you find the Lego community?

Speaker 3 (11:58):
And the Lego community is out there, I mean the
there's fan sites, there's building cunit, you know. But the
thing is, because Lego is it's kind of a it's
an art form, and you know, I love what people
can do it. I'm always surprised every season. It's sort
of just like anyone else that has any other art form,
like this is just a medium they choose to build him.
So sometimes people are like you know, on like online
forums and they're going to shows and stuff. But a

(12:20):
lot of the times we'll get people who aren't doing that.
But at this love of Lego. So you know our
designers or like tattoo artists or whatever, and and this
is just the thing they like to do to relax.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
So you know What's husband used to be a Lego man.
He made that big spaceship, didn't he No, he made
a big Star Wars thing.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
He bought that that was just and it wasn't made
out of Lego. It was just a Star Wars spaceship.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Okay, probably wouldn't get him on it turned out. What's
your building experience? He went, yeah, Well once I bought
a Star Wars model, and I'd go, all right, well
we've got your dtail and if we we'll give you a.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Lego Masters Channel nine Sunday nights seven o'clock then seven
point thirty Mondays and Tuesdays. Nice to Chad Eames. Okay, yeah,
I will.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Let you know if I I'll let you know if
I can get those timeslots shifted around, But.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
At the moment, I'll go with those. Thank you, brother.
