people that believe different things to me. I think it

down again because you know, next week I'm doing keys,
like I'm getting this guy that I love. His name
is Ali Roots. He's played on tons of R and
B records, and he's a freak keys player. So I
got him to put some Hammon organ and stuff, and
he played piano actually on this. And then the only
thing that's left of me is my voice and my drums.

So I put some drums down at the very start
of the process, just so I had something there for
everyone to track their stuff too, and then it ended
up staying on the record. And then I've just drummed
on another record because I started playing drums and I'm
not like a bet when when did you start? When
I was young? I was in a band when I
was when i was younger, and I've got my It

sort of inspired me to set my drums up at home,
like as in in my studio because I don't know,
I've been programming so much, programming drums, but nothing beats
a good sounding live kid.

of jokes that they draw on their memory is incredible.
They're articulate, witty, and then you you think you judge yourself, yes,
and you're like, I don't think I'll ever get to
that level.

get into your insecurity.

Well, it's aiming to inspire you, but we get in
the way, right, Okay, Well, I mean, how else can
you be inspired but seeing things that inspire you, you know.

for example, I've played piano for a long time, but
I've never had a lesson, right, So I've never like
sat down and practiced scales and things. I just played
by ear and now I've just started this course. But
as an adult, we're so used to being great at something,

or we're so used to seeing greatness and hearing greatness
that our expectations are way up here. When you're a
kid and you're learning chopsticks for the first time, you're like,
oh my god, I'm playing that. That's me. I'm playing that.
You're like, you get like excited about the bar bar's low,
and so I think, what I've learned is if you're

online and you see these people who are like beasts
at something, trying not to be overwhelmed by it, try
and be inspired by I keep telling myself that, like
and so, yeah, I don't know, I'm trying to I'm
trying to trust myself. And a good example of that
for like Ringo Star Beatles Beatles, anyone who's a technical

drummer would go technically. Ringo was not he you know what,
He sometimes went off the metronome and sometimes his his
feels were kind of pretty predictable. And well, when you
replace Ringo Star with a technical drummer that plays a
different feel every time, now that feels not a hook.

Like if you think about the drum feel in Phil Collins,
you know, the one that the Gorilla famously on that commercial,
Like that's a literally anyone who hasn't even played the
drums could jump on and play that. Yes, if that

I've learned a lot about just like, hey, how I'm
playing it, It's going to be how I play it.

I agree, I agree, And I also think there's magic
in not striving for perfection, you know, and I in
radio also, and radio is different. Not to make it
about radio, but you know, when you're on the air,
people want to listen and they want to feel that
they can connect to that person, and they want to
feel that they're a friend and they're normal and they
have things in common. If you're out there and you're
performing this piece of perfection and you're trying to think
of every word, it's never going to resonate because that's

not how you talk. When I heard you and your
mate on the phone earlier and it gets brought up again,
what was your mate's name on the phone again? The
way you and Timbo talk, you know, you want to
hear radio and podcasting and the same for all entertainment
that is in the same way that you and Timbo
would talk.

It's just naturally easy, real conversation.

perfection as well, is only you doing it. Yeah, it's funny,

then if you release something, you've got to work. If

allocated time, and everything's so scheduled. I have no time.

And my priority, to be honest, is my art and
my family.

was speaking somewhere, and I had the boys, and I'm like,

the morning for kids. I need to make a track.
And I could have just gone into the studio and
let the boys, Like what am I going to let

them watch stuff and be on their iPad or something. Yeah,
it's dad night. Yeah, like it's not every day, Like
we're just left alone, me and the boys. So I
did that, and then at ten o'clock when they finally
went to bed, like I went in the studio, I
didn't come out till four in the morning. But but
I know that I need to put in those hours.
But that's what I end up doing. And then I

woke up and I like felt like absolutely rattus. And
so I think for so long, I've just been trying
to pretend like I've got time to do all of
this stuff and my touring and my album takes a
back seat to the point where I've taken over four
years to make this album. Wow, so I shouldn't because
I write quickly like it's just haven't had time. And

so that's literally I was just saying to them. I
was like, they're like, what is Is there anything we
can I was like, no, that they would assume there's
something wrong with the gig. It's so positive, Like it's
such a great gig for me.

I said to them, I find this gig really easy.

Like I love talking and I love like mentoring, and
I love music.

I just know that in my guart, my gut's been
telling me nothing's going to change next year. All of
those comments you read about hey, when are you coming
back to the Netherlands when you're coming back to Philippines,
like like, I've got music that is getting slammed in
places around the world and I don't even go there.
And the fans of writing when they see a live

performance on something, going, oh, are you going to come
back to Sweden? And there might be thirty people at
this gig? Like who knows, there might be fifty, There'll
be more maybe but maybe not right, there might be
Like my last gig I sold out in Amsterdam that
was in twenty eighteen, just before COVID twenty nineteen, Sorry,
twenty nineteen, that's five years ago.

And I think I just got to this point.

Where I need to prioritize, like being uncomfortable again, sitting

Well, remember where we met you. How uncomfortable were you
when you were doing an idol when you were a kid? Right,
and look where it's skyrocketed you. I feel the same,
like I think the best comes from when we are
pushed outside of our comfort zone because we run on autopilot,

show I've done, I mean in radio nine years next year,
you can you get to a point where it kind
of just falls out of here, right.

Yeah, And you're comfortable. And what comfort does when you're
when your schedule's four, It doesn't leave room for you
to have surprises, no life, And I think I just
need a few surprises to go. Oh. I didn't think
i'd spend two months in Nashville writing with so and

Yes, I've got sort of a bit of a surprise
announcement with that. I was going to release something this year,
but I've held it off only for a few months.

But the payoff will be a lot more songs.
