Speaker 1 (00:02):
Please Hi.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's MEA Ray and I'm on the night show with
mixed jury.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
All right, my next guest an Aussie I Connie. You
know I love supporting up and coming ossie artist and
she's not really up and coming anymore these days. She's
from NUSA in Queensland, rose to fame. When you know
Telstra's Road to Discovery program, they get big ousy artists
put them on the public scene. She was part of it.
She's really on the up and up. It's her fourth
time I think on the show. Me Rays back here
in the studio everyone for the first time officially in

(00:33):
the flesh. Last time couldn't be asked to get out
of a car. We did a zoom interview and she
was in the boot of her car. I'm like, all right,
I pack yere. She is in the bar and Bay
Killers van in the back of the van. It's me Array. Hello,
it's true. You facetimeed me out. You're like, hey, how
long will this take? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Well you weren't going to pay for me to come
up to Sydney, now, were you.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Well I didn't this time either, So why are you here?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
She don't know.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Why are your hair?

Speaker 1 (00:58):
May Ray?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
That's because you've got an album. Oh hello, Wow, the
lights just turned on. Sorry the moment we said album
the sky. You've got an album coming Hi. Nice to
meet me.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Hey, it's nice to meet me too.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
That's the name of the album. Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Is this being filmed?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, the whole thing's been Hey, Hey, one of these
cameras in every corner and actually on the floor as well.
It's a really shoe album. High Nice to meet me.
So did you meet yourself? You refound yourself? Mere?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I did I met myself?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
How did you meet yourself?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Met myself? That is actually a really good question.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah, deep question.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I think I met myself in London.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
A couple of years ago, and I met I met
a girl and then I was like, ooh, I like
her because you had a Why do I like her
so much? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
But you had a long time relationship, right, yeah the man?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah totally.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
And so then after having that realization, I went to
London and I wrote a whole album about this subject.
And I guess maybe like found myself in London. But
the thing about writing about it with a bunch of
strangers and different writing sessions is that none of it

(02:17):
felt real. But then on the plane on the way home,
I realized it's real.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
It's very real, right, and you've told me the story
and you had to go home and you had to
tell your partner. I think I love you, but you
know I need to do this for myself.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, totally. And so it's more the album is more.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Of a self discovery album than I mean, obviously like
a massive part in this is my figuring out of my.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Sexuality and stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But a lot was unlocked just from that subject and
I just yeah, wrote an album about it. And I
didn't know that I was writing the album till I
had all of these songs, and I think my A
and R at the time was like, I think this
is an album and I was like, whoa.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
I'm confused and I needed to get my thoughts. Yeah,
so wait, is this coming out?

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Well? I think I came out already. But then also
do people already? Do people come out?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I don't know. Have you come out? Have you had
a big party in celebration?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
No?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Do you want one?

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Not?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Really?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Because I can do it, we can make it happen.
I've got things ready. You know. Is that it's a
prime gay It's all right, guys? Or is that too much. No,
I'm like, no, I'm kind of lesbian. I get it.
I get it, I get it. I know where you're
going with this. You're like, no, no, I'm subtle. Is

(03:43):
that right?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Ship?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
I love it?

Speaker 3 (03:47):
What do you need do? I don't know what is
what is the coming out song?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
What is it the coming out song?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Don't tell me you're like her?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
You want and no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I actually have no idea.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
What song do you want to know right now to
celebrate because you haven't had it coming out and your
best friends need to fix that shit. Because when I
came out.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
What did you have?

Speaker 3 (04:07):
What was your trauma? That's what I had.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm really grateful for this album because I backed myself
into a corner.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, do you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Of made yourself do it?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
I like had to do it.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
And because talking about my life and because I write
songs about my life is my job, I like had
to Whereas if I was just a regular Joe and
you know, this wasn't my job obviously, like my friends
would know about it, but it wouldn't be like get
on camera and tell the world that I'm one.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, if you worked at Gloria jeans right, and you
went on a flight to London.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I wouldn't be like I wouldn't be telling like, you know,
order number thirty six.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I've got something massive to tell you.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
One hundred.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I'm actually I'm actually queer, and they'd be like, Okay,
can I let's have my flat life.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Give me my gabagina? Yeah? I agree, but I love shirt.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, and I love you know.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Who we love? This is your go on me Array?
Shall we play the song huge? Shall we do it?
Nice to meet me? Let's do it? This is nice
to meet me? More with me Array? After this on
kiss me Rays in the studio. I love just been
on the show. It's third time on the show, first
time in the studio, last time she was here, and
I want her to live it down. Was in the
backseat of a car, had zero respect. I think I
don't know who else was in the back of the car.

(05:32):
I was trying to go down a sexual round. And
then you may.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Actually in the front seat. But it's creative and bellish, okay, Greek.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
I said fifteen minutes ago that it was IVN my
Lat's car and the Killer's van. Are you on? Byron
Bay serial killer. TikTok.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yes, I am, but I haven't. Don't don't spoil anything
because I want to.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It's real life. I don't know if as much boil.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
But I don't know the info yet, so let me
find I want to. I want to go down that
rabbit hole.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I don't even think they know if they're real or
if they found them. I don't know. Oh someone many
people have died?

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Really?

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, okay, maybe I'm not enough.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
I've got the first video. Oh yeah, there's a lady
that sits on a knife on the front seat of
a car. When you get to that, you come back here,
Oh my god, scary. Okay, And if you're listening to
what is going on? But apparently there's a serial killer
in Barren Bay. The jury is still out. Now me
album out? When is it that next year?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Do you have the d March fourteen?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
That is so exciting? I just love you know, gone
to the days of the the Ossie artists we have
on this show being the same. And I'm not shaming them,
but we get a lot of the same OSSI artists.
What is she? Well, you know, I'll turn the MIC's
off as I say their names, But you know that,
and then the oh yeah, we get a lot of
the same ossie artists, right.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
The corporate dulls, the Big six.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
You know, and like and you know what, Sammy Jade
can do no wrong. In my eyes, every time she
releases a song, she's welcome on this show. I love that.
I love the woman to bits, but I love that
there's just there's new genres right, and there's there's new
audiences for artists like you, and yeah, really cool at
the moment. Do do you feel like there's support in
his country for you?

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I feel like, yes, I struggle with Australia because it's
my favorite place to be and I'm so lucky to
be in this country.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I think it's the most beautiful place ever.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
But as far as the music industry coming from places
like America and the UK, where like, for example, like
the UK, you've got like Europe right there, and like
as far as like the reach that you can have,
it's obviously like immense, and then you come back to
Australia and it's like it's so great, but it's so small.
So it's like, you know, we don't have like the

(07:42):
funding that you know, the UK music scene would have
because obviously their market is so much bigger, and so
sometimes I struggle with that because I'm like, there are
so many.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Great artists here, and I feel like I'm like, how,
like how can we make them bigger?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
And how can we have like heaps of Aussie artists
on commercial commercial radio like all the time. And that's
why I'm so grateful for like these interviews, and like
doing interviews on commercial radio is like a massive deal
for like up and coming like local Aussie artists, and
so I feel really supported in that sense. But then

(08:23):
I'm like, but how do we like sell out you know,
two thousand cap And it's just like I'm like, I
don't know how to bridge the gap, but I certainly
feel very supported from radio stations, even though maybe like
this interview isn't going to like move the needle massively.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
You don't know how much it means to me to.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Know that like other people believe in it enough to
be like I want to get you on the show,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
So every little bit helps.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yeah, I care a lot about you? Is a Is
that right? It's Mia, Mia Ray Mickey. I'm this is
like the third fourth time I've had you one. I
loved you and I see on the Radio Awards and
I was like, what a superstar you have. The little
bow's in your hair. I will never forget. And truly,
when the album comes, we're going to be very, very excited.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
I'm so excited and I'm so grateful for the support.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Oh anytime you can pre order. New album is scheduled
fourteenth of March twenty twenty five. I'm so proud of you.
I'm so excited me Ray, Nice to Meet Me is
out now. The album is It's nice. Hi, it's nice
to meet me. We'll see you soon, Okay, thank you,
