Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, hey, guys, I'm all the Cronin here on the
night show with Mitch Churi, the Military Hammond Days.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
All right, my next guest in the studio tonight is
an Aussie superstar. He's got a brand new EP out
as well. I last had him on in May before
his headline shows, which sold out.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Great to have him back.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
He also has under his belt thirty three point six
million combined streams, almost two million followers across all socials,
and his last EP got seven point four million streams.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's the one and only Oliver Cronin. Hello, Hello, how
are you?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I'm so good.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
We're both gentlemen. You were going to ask how I was.
I'm asking how you were, and we're both great. I
see a lot of myself in you, tall, handsome, creative.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
You know that I was thinking the same thing. We're
very similar and we have brown features.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We could be cousins that see each other at Easter
of Christmas on the radio and cousins to see each
other on the radio.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
You know. My poor cousin Ryan shout out if you're listening,
listens to this show every night because he drives trucks
and he always calls and then he never gets through, and.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Then he texts me He's like, hey, cars like listening.
I'm like, I feel like I feel bad.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
No, had you back on here in May? You've had
a lot going on since. Oh yeah, sold out all
your headline shows. It's been a world when howd they go?
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Were they great? The shows?
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah? Yeah, of course yeah, I mean that's the best
thing ever.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, but I know, But don't you feel like that
these were your first headline shows? Yeah, that was in March.
That was in much.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I haven't seen you since. I haven't seen you since
you did it. No, did we after I've been told
we've seen you after. Oh well, I'm being told.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
We had if we didn't talk about it?
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Did it really happened? It happened? What clearly happened?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Oh okay, it happened and it was incredible and I
can't wait to do it again.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
When are you doing it again?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Do you know?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Oh you're so cooy, so cool.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I don't know, it's like early next year, okay, yeah,
every artist always says that earlier quarter one five? Yeah,
like hopefully for business talk okay, crowd, I'd do it
every day if I if I could play.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, I know, I can imagine. I can imagine. You're
very good performing live. I've seen your life.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
You're good.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
You've got a stage presence that feels natural. You know
when you see someone and you're like.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Oh, they feel a bit janky.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, I think I've just done it so many times
in the shower. Yeah, just performing to my self class
wall Yeah, yeah that. Now I get on stage and
it's like, oh.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Natural close with clothes. Do you dance? Are you sing
in the shower? I don't show is not big enough
to dance.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
It's a standing standard seeing standard singing and pretend that
I'm yeah, in a stadium and performing a lot of
just a bit of do you play your like your
music from your phone?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Because I it's the ban of my existence. I listen
to podcasts when I shower, and like you always think
it's a good idea, and then you start it and
then you get like one word and then like you
miss who killed the little kid?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
And you're like, wait, I missed you the murderer was
I've got the I've got the funniest thing. I've been
doing this recently, So I've got I've got this sticky
thing in my case. Oh you've got the yeah, yes, yes, yes,
And recently.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
It's been it's been bad. I've been putting the suction
onto the glass of the watching it like YouTube.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
You're addicted. It's bad. I'm just like, look, like shower
is a very comfort place.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
They are, yeah, the hot water, hot water, and like
I could find yourself like lost in that, especially if
you're yes, I get you.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I need to stop that.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Actually, now now I'm speaking that out loud, I'm like, that's.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
No, it's fine. You know, it's gotta be careful too,
because you know only fans. Creators do that too. They
have that. They do one.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
The difference between Oliver Cron and one Line now, it's
very thin. It's just the different app being open in
the shower. Congratulations on the This is halfway to Paradise,
which is out now.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Oh my god, yeah, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 1 (03:38):
New wepe a bit of a relief. It's so like
dropping music is a sigh for me. It makes so
much and I spent so much promoting it that actually,
like having music out in the world is so exciting
and it's kind of like, oh, so much work has
been put into this and now it's out for people
to hear, and yeah, the response has been overwhelmed. It's
been incredible. I'm so grateful to everyone who's listened and
(03:59):
can acted and showing their support. It's been unreal.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Oh, I'm happy for you, man.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I speak to a lot of artists and it's always
it's either I'm terrified that my music is out or
I'm so relieved that it's out.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
So it's funny that you are on the side of
like release. Yeah, it's an interesting one.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
It's like, I make so much music that I have
and I only meet I only listen to it and
maybe my team, and it's like mine, and then I
release it to the world and it's no longer mine. Yeah,
it's everyone else's song now. So it's I love the
holding onto songs, but I also love releasing. It's a
different it's two different parts of it.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, where was your headspace at in writing this?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
You know, I've been working on my debut album for
quite a while now, actually, and I had the idea
for it to be Paradise yea, and I wanted to
be in a position of where I thought Paradise would be,
and I dropped this album, and everything's amazing, and along
the way, my kind of views of paradise have changed.
As you reach one goal, another comes up. And I
haven't felt quite ready to drop this album. So I
(04:58):
wanted to show people what I was working on in
the process of the album. Some of the songs that
may not have made the album, some songs were on
the original album that I just made new ones. And
so you know, we're going, we're getting there, and that's tense.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Halfway to Paradise, Oh I get oh, half way to Paradise,
it's literal. It's literal. Oh, he's a.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Genius because we're halfway to the album paradise. Very smart
you just the penny just dropped, and I'm very impressed.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I was like, Oh, he's handsome, get him on the show.
And then now like, oh he's handsome and he's good,
he knows what he's doing. Anything in the shower, he's
any time. Can I this is ridiculous? Can I just
like sing some of your praises for a second? Thirty
three point six million combined great streams probably people walking
in the shower you're singing.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Can my streams? That's pretty nuts? Do you get a
breakdown of where they all are in the world.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
I can kind of not really, yeah, but it's it's
all over the place, as anywhere shocked you, like like
streams in Madagascar. You're like, we've got the two biggest
places that have shocked me are in you in Nigeria Nigeria, Yeah,
massive Princess.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Yeah, there's like a lot of a lot of fan
love over in Africa, all over Africa, actually in Nigeria, yeah,
India as well. We're going over there in December for
a festival. So yeah, just places like that which I
never thought my music would reach at such a you
know scale.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
What are you attested to? Is it the like social media?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Internet, that's called social media?
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah wow, which is It's a beautiful thing.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeah it is. See, maybe that only fans isn't a
bad idea. You know, you can reach a wider.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Audience, you know if music, if music declines, you know,
that's what paradise is.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I get it is only fair full circle.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
It was announce today, which is exciting during the day
and we can finally talk about it. You're opening for Daniel.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Cev Yes, I am Oh my god, Y're so excited.
I am, I was, I was.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I met him at the Wicked premiere. Yes, we walked
the carpet together. And then when I saw a show
opening up for Dean Lewis, and he is such an
incredible per former and incredible, the nicest guy. And yeah,
when I got asked to do.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
This, that's so cool.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
We've got Daniel on the show this week too, Grace, don't.
We do have Daniel, so we have to next week.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
So we have to ask. We'll have to ask if
he feels the same about you.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Hopefully we'll play him this, Yeah, but I'll ask him first,
makes him feel guilty. He's like, yeah, it's all right, guy, Like,
well this is what yeah, yeah, it's reverse psychology trap.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I'm happy for you.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Thank you know, I'm super excited. It's going to be
It's gonna be great, man.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I'm happy. What was the Wicked premiere like? Because it
was meant to be crazy? Yeah, I heard it was insane.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
It was. I mean, look when when that the cast
like that comes to Sydney, that's a whole in itself. Yeah,
and yeah it was. It was pretty cool to you know,
be on a couple with people like that and yeah,
it was just a lot of a lot of a
lot of people. Yeah, so many people.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I saw you on the project the other night. Yeah,
and you were talking about the Ashes, which shocked me.
Yeah you want to play now? You have to please
dumb it down. I studied theater, okay, in New York City.
So is the Ashes is the little cup and it's cricket.
You want to play cricket?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
I mean, I played cricket for a long time. That
was my I grew up playing cricket. I played, you know,
I was in the pathway, played for New South Wales
in the under seventeens and nineteens and it was kind
of my destiny and then music came along and occupied
my life since then since I was like seventeen. But yeah,
so it's still you know, that's that was my dream
(08:29):
since I was like like five years old, to play
cricket for Australia. So wow, I don't know, I haven't
played in a while, but I'm it could be like
a celeb all Stars. I've awaits. There's slab stars games
for every other sport. Yeah, waiting for a cricket one.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
I agree, I can play too, Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
What's like a position that just like sits really far
out most of them? All right, well, we love you.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Are we going to play balance? Shall we play balance? Oliver?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
I think let's playa let's play ballance. That's a great
This is halfway to paradise. Can't wait for paradise.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Whatever it is, the mystery that surrounds it's like Oliver
cron and great to have it back, Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
All Right, let's do balance. New from Oliver Cron in
