Speaker 1 (00:02):
I just wanted stop saying I've got the six and
shark seats time.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
All right, My next guests iconic drama levels on the
night show about the sky Rocket. We've got Heather Gay
and Whitney Rose, the stars of the Real Housewives of
Salt Lake City, the new season streaming on Hey you,
welcome to the show girls.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Welcome to Australia, I should say.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
If you're not part of the Real Housewives storyline and
you want to go, where do I start?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
How do I watch?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
You can download Hey you new episodes every Thursday. But
Heather and Whitney are here from the season five is
the latest season of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Now for the Aussies listening, going, I've heard of Salt
Lake City. That's it's kind of like Vegas's cousin.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Right, you're up from Vegas.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
More like Vegas's step child.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
That was strange, Okay, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
We're six hours south north.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yes, Las Vegas is six hours south of us by car.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Salt Lake's superior. Las Vegas is more like the the
cousin that you kind of want to go visit. It's fun,
but then you want to.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Come back to her cousins. Who I take issue with
that comparison.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Yeah, but Salt Lake City is landlocked. It's in the
Mountain West. We have four beautiful mountains, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
All four seasons and a lot of Mormons.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Oh I love that.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah. So you both ex moments your cousins, but you
were both you both.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Were in the Mormon Church very early on. I mean,
I know, I know there's been books written about it,
and you know, I think that's very admirable. But have
they excommunicated you or do you do you? Are you
still welcome back in the Mormon Church?
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Well, I I chose to leave. I had my name
removed from the church, so I went through a process
to no longer be a member. But as far as
we know how, there's not been ex communicator, not yet.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
So Whitney, you're paying income, Oh, I get you. Were
you giving ten percent because you felt like you had to?
Or is that what people give? Ten percent of the income.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
It's just the normal the tithing that and it was
part of like the doctrine. And I just fully believed
in the faith and fully believed in the program, and
ten percent of your income was just a way to
show gratitude to God for the ninety percent that he
bussed you with. So it made sense to me, like
on all these different levels. But you know what, it
makes a lot more sense to me when it spends.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Now in my pocket. So it just, you know, my
beliefs shifted, and so I got a ten percent.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Most religions, you know, tithing is you give what you want.
But in the Mormon Church, ten percent is required to
be able to participate at the highest level.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah yeah, oh my god. That's if you have to.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Pay ten percent if you want to see your kids
get married in the temple.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Wow, that is insite to me. That's such a foreign concept.
But let's put opinion in that. Let's talk about the
shore because no, because although that sounds very dramatic, Season
four of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, I think
with some of the best reality TV we have ever
sane and as someone who fell in love with the
series because of that season, I saw it all on
TikTok and I saw the drama unfolloled and I saw,
you know, I.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Saw one TikTok that made me so invasted.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Obviously, when you found out about Monica, who was the
new cost might who was revealed if you don't across it,
she was actually running a secret social page. She was
on the coup a Bloggah Blogga. I mean, hey, how
do you trust anyone? How do you now go forward
and trust anyone in your life?
Speaker 5 (03:16):
Well, in like ironically that moment when I was able
to confront her and have all of my friends dacked
me up, and I learned how to trust more in
that night than I learned how to be you know,
how to be betrayed, because you know, those girls stuck
behind me and they put aside all of our petty
(03:37):
differences and chose to be unified as a group. And
I learned to trust them in a way that I
had never trusted them before. So that night in Bermuda
actually like taught me to trust because they had my
back and I'm like eternally grateful.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
And then the moment to confront he how long was
it from realization to confrontation.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
About four hours?
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
And then that your brain in that moment do you
talk to producers in that moment do you go can
I do this?
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Or do you do you go? You know what?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, it has to be Yeah, how does that how
does that ply out from like a television point of view.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Well, I wrote all about it, step by step with
all the receipts, pre timeline and screenshots in my new book,
Good Time Girl. It's the final chapter, chapter twenty two,
and it is like a page turning true crime novella.
But I tell about how I discussed it with producers,
how I found out and how I They said, how
do you want to deal with this? And I said,
(04:32):
I want to tell you know, Whitney's American, Lisa, They're
the only the producers didn't understand. So I said, I
want to tell them they're the only women that will
get it when I'm why, it's a big deal. And
so I wrote about it in the book and it's
you know, it was a really incredible night for us,
and only a tiny portion of it was on the show.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, well that's incredible. I mean then hither of course receipts, proof,
timeline screenshots. That is so iconic now it's part of
the culture. The White House even recently used it in
a social media post. How does that there's social media
fans in the White House in the current administration. But
that must make you think, like the reach of this
show and the impact that that moment had.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yeah, it makes me consider they make a great president
and one day I should probably run.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, you know what, you'd have my vote. You'd have
my vote one hundred percent far right, you guys, and
Whitney for you. I mean, obviously, this season obviously already
started with some drama. We have the Jen Shore, everything
happening with Jen. She's currently in jail. I mean that,
Are you guys still in contact with Jen?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Or no?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
No?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
No, really?
Speaker 4 (05:33):
And Jen has nothing to do with me this season? Yeah,
I don't talk to Jen.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, no plan of it.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
She gets enough hot water on her own. This one.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Don't need I agree, you don't need Jen. But I mean, god,
what a dramatic season. Did any of you anticipate when
you started season one that this would be season four
or five?
Speaker 5 (05:51):
I mean, you think I anticipated having a swat team,
the FBI Homeland Security swarm on my beauty lab and
Laser's parking lot while I was in a sprinter van
with road trip bags and mad libs, like we had
snacks for a road trip and we were approached with
men with heavy artillery and bulletproof best.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
We had every Federal Agency on the bus that it
felt like a joke. I thought there were strippers, so
I was moving all the bags. She literally was like, oh.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Wow, believe it.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Or not after everything that we've been through. A selly
in Cullate Season five I think is our best season
yet because it's not just about one story, one person,
one you know, one m one villain. It's it's a
really good balance of a housewife group. I love it.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I think this season is our best. Yeah, it's a
great season.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
Our relationships are so layered and so dynamic, and there's
so much trust there and.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
There's also so much unresolved conflict.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Where you haven't seen the best and even see nothing
new this week like Us Round. You think you like
us now?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You guys are the best. I can see why I
put you on the press to it.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Talk to me about Andy Cohen as an Andy Cohen
fan that I love Andy personally. How much impact or
not really impact does he have on the show. I
more mean, how much communication do you share with Andy?
Because executive producer, it's his franchise, is there is there
a lot of communication with him throughout filming and even
when filming is not happening.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Most communication happens when we have when we cross paths,
you know, for press or watch what happens live. But
he's always like ridiculously supportive and in this world, you know,
there are few people who understand both sides of it
and all sides of it. And so when times are
really tough, he's always been great to like reach out
and kind of encourage you to just you know.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Hold steady.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
And I think that he was so supportive with everything
that went down in Bermuda, yeah that you know well.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
And even personal things that we're going through in our life.
If even if it's not on the show, he'll reach
out and offer support and champion us is amazing.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
He's a true Zaddi.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yes, I met him at Marti Grara, and I can
confirm true Saddi in every sense of confirm, can confirm.
Do you guys ever regret things that you say on
the show?
Speaker 3 (08:13):
How open you? I mean hither?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I know you've opened up about the use of his MPIK,
which I think is great. I think more people need
to talk about the use of the weight loss drugs.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
There's no shame in it now. It's like taking a
you know, a headache.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah, everybody show the drugs you're on.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah, yeah, some drugs, some drugs, who knows.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
But I mean, do you watch back on either of
you and you go, shit, I shouldn't have said that,
or I was like I forgot the cameras.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, every word out of my mouth.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Proud of everything that I've said, done and vomited on
real house slaves and sulting.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, but then you can imagine why people go then
why do you do it? Like what's going on? Like
what is it?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Is it just because it just that's what happens in
the environment. You so relaxed, you say what you want.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Well, we're messed up people, That's why we're on GI.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
No. I think it's beautiful because I mean do you
ever go a day where you're like, wow, I nailed everything,
nailed that one about reading things, living your life, and
to Heather's point, maybe a little wildly out there to
put ourselves on display, but it's beautiful to watch yourself
like it. Sometimes it's cringey and sometimes like oh hell
(09:18):
yeah I did that.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
I can watch it one time and then I just
usually in the fetal position in the dark corner, and yeah,
the season's over.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
And we have this code word, I say, are you
in the command center.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Which means I'm pulled up with the watching streaming content.
If that doesn't appease me, I watch violent videos on
YouTube with body cam like oh yeah, like anything that's okay. Sorry,
I do that too, Yeah, Bible stories, I do not children.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Sure, I love dash cam like CA crash video.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yes, Like I think it's.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
That it's that adrenaline and that like, you know, people
like trying to get out of a predicament.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
You know, I just I'm drawn to So I'm grateful
to have friends that can dish it out and take.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
It so good.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Now, you guys are fun, and you know what, You're
so right saying that, Like, of course, I've got I
do a radio show every night, and there's like one
show a month, and I'm like, yeah, I nailed that,
you know, every other show, I'm like, what the hell
am I saying? I'm an idiot?
Speaker 3 (10:16):
So I feel the time you.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Just like black out right, and you're true.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
You're so true. It's so well said. It's like a
job as well at the end of the day, right, Yeah,
but it's.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
In them, it's in the mistakes.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
And it's in the in the mess ups where it's
funny and where it's relatable and what we want to happen.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Like, you know, I look back.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
On scenes where I like, you know, just kicked trash
under the beds to no one would see it, Like
you want to see the moments of just like human
frailty and failing because that's where you know, you see
your human side.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, I agree with you. I love it now.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Final question, is it so weird to hear other celebs
that you would have, you know, grown up loving and
adoring being fans of the show. I think it was
Sarah Poulsen recently hither said she was in love with
you on Jimmy foul And you go, like, come on,
they be Hollywood actors and they love you.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
You know, it's so surreal.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
But every part of this experience, in like the second
chapter of my life, is so surreal.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
It's all happened in five years.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
In five years, I've gone from like depths of dead
inside depression to like having Sarah Paulson quote me, you know,
and the White House tweet me. So it's just like,
you know, I feel like every day is I'm living
on borrow time, and it's just such a gift and
like such an opportunity that I.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Am I smiling right now. I don't even know I'm smiling.
I can't even help it. No, it's so.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Cold as I like see some of your icons recognize you.
That's been very, very intensely like surreal, out of body experience, and.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
It feels great.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
But you know, I always knew I was going to
be famous. I always knew I was going to be rich.
I always knew Sarah Paulson liked me.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I mean like Jenner, Yeah, Jenfreella. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
And now talk to me about the aussy man of that.
Are they your vibe? Are they like because you know,
kind of told, dark, handsome, you know, rare, rugged. We
love a trade. Do you know what a trade is?
Speaker 5 (12:07):
I'm sorry, did you just say trading? Because I've been
up and down the press circuit telling everyone.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
I'm looking for a trading Oh. And I don't like tall,
dark and handsome.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
I like BBS's big buff shorties with the thick calves
and the hairy legs.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
And the work boots and the socks.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Oh if they have it for us and best?
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Oh yeah, that's high V's. We call that High V's
in Australia. So you want to trade in High Ve's.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah, yeah, we're gonna go to a trading bar. They
did also mention that I should go to Bunnies. So
I don't know if they're serving drinks at Bunnies, but that's.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
That's on the but yeah, but Bunnings is a high camera.
Well you want a very different kind of hammering. No,
you don't want to go to Bunnings. You want to
go to the pub for a hammer nail. Yeah, yeah, Okay,
you guys are the best. I love you, I really do,
and I'm so glad you came on the show. And uh,
I think all that's left to say now you said
this Thursday's episode is amazing. He's going download hey you
(12:57):
and stream the new season of the Real Housewives of
Salt Lake City.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
It was a pleasure. I adore you. Thank you for
coming on the show.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Yes, thank you for having us.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Now, don't forget this incorrect Bunnings for a sausage sizzle,
which is not sexual, and then a public it.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Sounds sexual to me.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
What is the sausage?
Speaker 1 (13:14):
It's like when they roast the hot cops outside.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
We call it a sausage sizzle. It's sausages. We don't do.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Come out for a sausage all the trades, you.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Know what, you're so right.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah, you just get sausage on a piece of white
bread and some ketchup and then you call it's a dollar.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
It's a dollar. It's amazing. You'll love it.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
A dollar and a boyfriend. I'm going to bunny.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, it's it's enjoy think of us when you eat it.
A pleasure, ladies, love to meet you and enjoy the
rest of Priss.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Okay, thank you so much. Thanks ladies, See you
