Speaker 4 (00:37):
This is the pickup.

Have you one day? How was your weekend, Mardie Jay?
Speaker 4 (00:41):
It was absolutely delicious, Thank you very much, Brittany?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Was it? Do you know what I did? Nothing?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I really doubled down into just like watching a lot
of teav what's that like?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I know you'll never know it again, I be honest.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Was it great? Did you enjoy it? It was bored.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
I don't get bored.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
And if I do get bored, do you know boredom
is actually healthy?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
I wouldn't know. I haven't felt bored in a very
long time.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Because you had one hundred kids. No, do you know
I've had this realization. I don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Maybe you can fix it now that you are going
to be a Hollywood superstar with your one line in
the movie you shot recently. I'm just finding that I'm
getting hooked into all of these series, and it doesn't
matter what the platform is.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I get hooked in.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
At the start, it's really good, the middle is really good,
and then it's like, I don't know if they run
out of steam, run out of time, or run out
of money. But lately, every single ending that I have
seen feels like they've pushed their schedule to the end, like,
oh my god, we've got to finish this series in.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Three hours, and they just throw an ending together brittance.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Well, am I being too picky?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
I would love to watch anything on TV and just
have a break from the kids.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Well, Laura says she's always watching TV series. She's lying
because she said she's been watching a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
As long as I don't have a child screaming in
front of me, that's like throwing veggiemite sandwiches in my face.
I will watch anything and I will enjoy it. So
you're probably asking the wrong person, Matt.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
I have had a career high.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
I think I said that last week with Kim Kardashian,
But this is a new week.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Can I just say, credit? Where credits? Do you? You
have been getting some very big interviews lately.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I really have, and I'm just I'm really chocked with myself.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
I've been doing it for six years.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Kimmy kay, name of what I thought you peaked? I
thought that was it.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Surely no one else but then Teddy Swim, Sarah Paulson,
Eddy Swim.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah, we've had.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Some absolute bangers. Obama keeps trying to interview me up.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Just some fools. Such a pest, isn't it. Obama's like
relaxed to I was.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Like, let's let you know when the schedule freeze up.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
But who we got?
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh, we have a real life and I think anyone
under twenty five that's listening probably won't know who this is.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Everyone over is going to be chuffed. A real life
spicy Which one we have?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
The one that I used to play When you know,
all kids used to dress up as a spice girls.
Every friend group had a spice girl. I was sporty spies,
and we have sporty spies on the line.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
We have mil c Oh my, it's going to be
so jealous. Marley is obsessed my daughter? Is she? Okay?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I love that because there was a part of you
that at one point there were the biggest band, right,
there's part of you that thinks that has faded out
or grown out.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
But I love that, like a six year old knows
to Spice Girls.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I don't know. It kind of feels like when I
was in primary school and I heard the Beatles and
I was like, they're pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Maybe yeah, so maybe the Spice Girls lives on.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
So what is sporty? Spies got to say for herself?
Speaker 3 (03:33):
She is actually just the most down to earth. She's
so nice, she's so humble, she's so normal, just.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Very successful and so fit right now, Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
She's so fit. I guess that's she lives up to
her name.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I know it's like, does she actually is very sporty
being fit or is it just like must keep going
with the.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Name contracted, must be sporting.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
She's actually dating an Australian guy, so she's in Australia
a lot.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
She's got great taste, great taste.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
But have her listen to this million dollar question? Did
you guys get to pick your names?
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Now, we were named by magazine, so you must know
to of the pops, it's iconic. Yes, So they just
like published the magazine when we can give us these
silly names, and they just stuck. And actually in the US,
they don't know our names. They know, they kind of
know them now, But like back in the day, it
was just all nicknames.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
So you when the Spiers Girls took off, you didn't
have the names yet.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Now, it was never meant to be a thing. It
just caught on. Was anyone dirty?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
It was Ginger like, oh why why Ginger.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Like, yeah, no, we loved it, and we we totally
like played up to it and we became caricatures of it.
And the funny thing is now because you know, obviously
Ginger the color of her hair, right, but you know,
she was firing, and she was outspoken and she was loud,
and Victoria was always a bit posher than the rest
of us. But yeah, Melby scary. I mean, I don't
(04:58):
know if I've met scary.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Oh doesn't she sound lovely? Didn't disappoint she.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Really really didn't. I was really happy.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
You know how, sometimes these people that you've looked up
to for a long time, you hope to God they're
nice people because you don't want to if you don't
want to meet them, and then they're turd burgers.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
I don't meet your heroes kind of totally.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
She was lovely.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
But hey, if you guys want to listen to the
full chat, there is an hour of it. You just
have to search a life Uncut, Melsey, Sporty, spic, spice girl,
whatever it is. But it was only last week, so
go and have a listen to the whole chat on
anywhere you can get your podcasts.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Brit It's been a bit of a whirlwind of a
week in my household. I don't know if you know this,
but my mum had shoulder surgery to reattach ligaments quite
a while ago, right about ten weeks ago. And you
may have heard of this, you might not have, but
it's a virus called seediff.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yes, so see diff is like a they call it
like a hospital virus.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
It's a hospital born virus.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
And up until this point I had never ever heard
of it, never knew it existed.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I don't think people I only know it because I
worked in a hospital. I think generally people don't really
know what it is. It's not something you hear a
lot about.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
So my mum had the surgery, she came out and
as far as she knew, like she was totally fine.
But then she had a really upset tummy that just
wouldn't go away. And she was like, oh, you know,
it's just something that's going to be, you know, here
for I'll get over in a couple of days. A gastro, Yeah,
no big deal. But it got so bad and recently
(06:32):
she was at home. I was out, I was about
to get the kids. Laura was at home with mum
and she's like, oh, my my stomach's a bit, you know,
it's a bit upset, and I got really bad cramps.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
And this has been ten weeks of this, right, cramps.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
And Laura was like, well, I was about to go
for a walk with Poppy, who's our newborn, but she goes,
I'm just going to stay here just in case. And
then Laura messaged me and said, hey, do you think
your mom's doing too well? And it happens so quick,
it can come on so strong, and I don't know
if anyone's not experience see diff but this is how
(07:09):
quickly things can change from being completely fine to being
pretty scary. So Laura told my mum to just go
to lie down in bed. She did that, and within
ten minutes of my mom going into her bedroom, she
makes out this moan. She calls out to Laura. Laura
runs in and she goes, I don't think I'm doing
(07:30):
very well. The color had completely gone from her. She
was gray. Laura instantly called the ambos and they must
have been at least six maybe seven minutes, And in
that time, my mom had gone from being able to
say a few words. Her blood pressure had dropped so
quickly because the virus is so aggressive that all of
(07:52):
a sudden she was laying in bed, unable to respond
to anything that Laura was saying.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Wow, in like six minutes.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
In six minutes, that's how aggressive this thing is. And
we're so thankful that by chance, the ambos were just
around the corner and they came within the blink of
an eye. And you know, I can't help but think
if Laura hadn't have listened and paid attention to my
mum being unwell, I've been a little bit cautious regarding
the situation. She wasn't there, and if she went for
(08:20):
a walk, and if no one was able to call
triple zero. It's so scary to think what might have
been at my mom's seventy three now, so she's no
spring chicken. Yeah, and when you're a little bit older.
You know, things can go from bad to worse, especially quickly.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
It's so scary, but especially because they haven't really been
able to find out what's wrong with her right and
treat it like they almost know what's wrong with her now,
but it's just not getting better. And it's been ten
weeks of like up and down and up and down.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
We've seen a few different specialists, but I do want
to give a shout out to one amazing doctor who
was in the eer. Her name is doctor Walsh. And
you know, sometimes you come across a person who's just
just like she cared. She was just onto it. And
the moment I saw her and she came into the
room and she said to speak to my mom, I
was like, ah, this woman is a boss, and she
(09:13):
was just I'm so thankful that the doctor we had
her at that moment she figured it out, because you
just it's so scary when you're in the hospital when
you just you don't know, this world is so foreign
and you just put your hands completely in someone else's.
But if anyone is wondering, my mum has now returned
from hospital. She is getting better, okay, good.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
And hopefully you figured it out now.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Well, she's being treated for seediff and I'm now the
messenger of seediff. Yeah, and it's funny. I spoke about
it on socials and so many people have messaged and
reached out and said, oh, a family member also got
seed iff off the back of surgery, and no one
knows about it. And it's so common and it's so
aggressive and it's so debilitating what it can do to
you if it's not treated properly.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well, it needs a very specific treatment, which is why
people can get sick for so long because people don't
figure out what it is and treat it properly.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
I'm so I mean, great message to put out to people,
man if people are getting sick after it been in hospital.
But also I'm so glad to hear that Ellie's doing
and let's hope that she's on the app now.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I want to get her in for fun Fact Friday.
When she is better and she's she's back to full health,
we would get her on the show. Don't worry about that, Matt.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Have you ever had like a zoom call where something's
going to miss?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
You know, how you hear all these horror stories.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I'm not really important enough to have zoom calls.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I don't think it makes you important. I think it's
just a part of work.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
I've got no one who wants to zoom call with me,
but Laura has many a zoom call.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Were a zoom call twice a week with you?
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:38):
We all zoom calls meetings twice week? What do we
a ham soundwich?
Speaker 4 (10:40):
That's not a zoom call, isn't. That's just like a
FaceTime Sorry I'm getting technical here, so.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Technical, No, any kind of a face call.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Look, there has been a time when I didn't know
Laura was on a call and I had to run
to use the bathroom and I was saying, like, hey,
watch out because it was in the on suite. I
was like, this one's going to really smell. And Laura
had to say very quickly, I'm so sorry. That's my husband. Yeah,
that's so funny.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
There's this woman I had to have chuckle.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
There's this woman online that was like told a story
about what happened to her on her zoom call.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
So she was taking this.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Really important work call and she was in a cafe
and she's supposed to be working remotely, but it's it
was quite early I think it was like before midday. Anyway,
they're very very serious, going back and forth. And as
they're in like this crucial part of the meeting, a
waiter comes in from the side and hands a cocktail in.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
She's sitting there trying to be very professional and like,
you know, I can work remotely. You can trust me
to do this. I can do it anywhere in the world.
And then this like cocktail comes enter side of screen.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Here's your pinatolada. I could never. I like, how do
people do that? How do they live with themselves? The
stress and anxiety when you've ordered a cocktail and then
you have your zoom call. Guys just know that on
our zoom calls, I would never.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Always walking around with bottle of the line.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
I'm always like doing like the dishwasher whenever you guys
call her, like putting the washing out rogue.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
As I get she had this, my boy, She's like,
oh my god, that's me done.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
I'm fired. I'm out.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
And then one of the other ladies that was on
the call, she had a camera off.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
She turns a camera on and she's at the hairdresser.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
She's got like things like none of them are working
they're just all around the world to live in their
best life.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Good luck to that company.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Hey, you know, it made me think when Laura and
I first signed this contract.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Where we are now.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
We were on this big meeting online and it was
Laura and I was sitting next to each other, and
there were like all the big executives on this call,
and so they were probably like six or seven people
on the call, and we were being very professional.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
It was our first huge like contract.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
We've been in the industry a while, but this was
this was taking it to another level, right, and we
hadn't met them in real life, and we had this
really serious chat.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
We were determined as women to be taken seriously. It's
hard enough anyway, of course, you.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Know, it's really hard as a woman to get a
job in this industry for sure, and there's not many
of us.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
So we were taking it very seriously. And then I
thought we'd all hung up. We're like, thank you so
much for your time.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
I think I had fake glasses on blue light glasses,
was like how to clipboard and I they hung up
and I looked at Laura and I did the hand
action where it looks like you're throwing.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Money into the air.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
And I said, show me the money to Laura.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
And then I heard this, we're still on the call.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
And they were still on the call. They hadn't hung up,
and I was mortified.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
I would die. Were you wearing any pants?
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I was like, slapped in, already signed it. That's from Ice.
We're out here.
