I haven't maintained what I said last night. If the
Jets lose tonight, which is looking extremely likely because they've
played dead from the neck up since the beginning of
the game, Uh, it's okay. I'm on vacation starting tomorrow.
I don't have to worry about the Jets I have
to worry about. I'll keep an eye on the Carlos
Corea physical. When the results come in tomorrow, it will

be fine. But everything else I don't need to worry
about it. I don't need to worry about the Jets
after So they're putting you out of your misery officially
tonight as they sink. Yes. It's almost the equivalent of
when the Mets lose big. If they lose it like
on a getaway day, like on a Monday, and it's like, oh,
the Mets lost today. They've lost the Rockies ten three.

But at least they got the losing out of the
way earlier. I could go on with my day. I
have to worry about I have to worry about all
the Mets. Hey, they get a big win tonight. They
can win, they can finish, they can win the series,
and then move on. Hey, if you're gonna lose like that,
lose early in the day. Hey if you're gonna if
you're gonna lose and get eliminated, because suddenly you realize
that you have all kinds of problems that you never
were able to fix. At least you're doing it now,

and I'm okay with it. It's not about be all
right all right now I can move on. I got
my vacation starting tomorrow. It'll be terrific. I don't have
to worry about anything. I just wait, I'll watch the
Syracuse Bowl game next week. That that's all I need,
Steve to say her whatever helps you sleep, I guess
we'll support you in this. But there are times, many
times tonight where I felt like, are the Jets even
there on the field? What what is going on here?

And you've heard the booing, of course from the home fans,
from you know, the faithful, and I think that's the
proper term that have had their hopes up at points
this season, and my goodness, is it crashing the last month.
It is insane. It is absolutely insane. Look, i'll tell
you what's going on right now, that the Jaguars are
beating the Jets thirteen three, they were about to most

likely kick a field goal to go up sixteen three
in this game. The Jets offense has been abysmal. Yes,
it's raining, but the Jaguars are figure to watching this game,
I can tell you I'm shocked, Steve, shocked that the
Jaguars looked like coming in they had a game plan,
they knew what they wanted to do to execute it,
and they're doing it. And the Jets just look like

we're gonna throw the same stuff out there and and
hope maybe because it's a different day that it works.
Because the Jets offense is abysmal, it's too predictable. The
Jaguars defense inks. They stink as bad as the Jet stink. Overall.
The Jaguars defense stinks, and they are stopping and they're
on top of every play the Jets want to run,
and Zack Wilson still is not accurate with the football.

So you have everything is on display right now with
the Jets that Zack Wilson is bad. Now you have
to question, is the system they're running we're worth it
because you have everybody stopping this. Now at some point
you have to understand, well, we do have pretty good
playmakers on the field of different positions. It can't all
be the quarterback. The system and what you're running has
to be to blame as well, because you're not executing

it right. You're not executing anything. So if you can't execute,
and you had still had trouble with Mike White when
he was in there, how good of of of it
can it be? Because you have some good wide receivers,
you have a decent couple of tight ends, your offensive
line is okay, They're a little leaky tonight, couple of injuries,
but buy and largely offensive line has been good, and
you just look like you can't do anything. This is

just absolutely abysmal. And before you can say, well the
weather is, you know what, the Jaguars even moving the football, okay.
They seem to know exactly what they want to do.
Trevor Lawrence is is knows exactly what he wants to
do with the football. He's making all the right decisions.
And while it's been tough because the Jets defense is tough,
the backbreaking plays running the football, he's scrambled, he's got

fifty yards running. They they'll get a big play to
Evan Ingram when they want to. They're staying away from
Sauce Gardner and and DJ Reid and they're doing exactly
what they want to, which is what you expect the team. Hey,
we're gonna game plan and know exactly what we want
to do on Thursday night. And I feel like the
Jets and well, let's just keep doing the same things
and hopefully we're gonna catch lightning in a bottle. This
is just absolutely the Jets saying we're done with this season.

Right Sometimes sometimes the first the first beginning of a
game can can tell you about the entire game is
going to be. And the beginning of the game, quinnin Williams,
who's one of the best defensive linemen and all of
football probably is is an All Pro defensive tackle, makes
the big play, the sack of Lawrence. They get the
fumble and the Jets offense goes nowhere and kicks a

field goal. I feel like all the energy was let
out of the stadium, out of the team at that point,
where it's look at the problems we have. We have
a golden opertunity, have the ball in the fifteen yard
line and we can't get more than two yards, and
now we're kicking a field goal. And from from that play,
it's been a gradual downhill of the Jets offense, the
defense playing as well as they can, but still the

Jaguars moving the football on him enough. And it's just
been from from that beginning of the game. Sometimes that's
sets such a big tone, and that's what happened tonight.
All these things are happening, Steve, my head is going
in a thousand different directions right now. After the early
Jets field goal and a brief three nothing lead. Jacksonville
answered with a field goal, and now Riley Patterson has
kicked his third field goal of the night. He's booted

him from thirty two yards forty five and now from
forty one yards out. So here's where it stands. Mid
third quarter. Jets at home are not only losing to
Jacksonville sixteen to three. Now on the stat sheet it
is sixteen first downs to three. Is that good? I
repeat out loud. The Jets offense has three first downs
were in the third quarter. I'll say officially, no, that

is not good. And you talked about what the Jets
have out there on offense, what they have as far
as defense means you don't need to have a ton
on offense. Am I right? In this? This is not
like last year where Justin Herbert had to score forty
points and multiple games to have a chance to win.
This is quite the opposite. Can you get me twenty something?

It's like the Raiders. Actually, can the offense just get
me something? We're gonna be closed. We're gonna be in
these games. Jets offense doing zip tonight. That's why That's
why I'm telling you it's the quarterback it's the system.
It's just not it's the whole team. Jason stops. The
whole team. Come on, good, come on, the whole team stinks.
We put three Pro bowlers on in the Pro Bowl.

We have four Pro bowlers this year. What does not
have to do with stinking defense? Because the defense is good,
the offense stinks. The defense is good. Yeah, well when
when when nothing good about this Jets team? What do

you change all the Jets, if the defense was so good,

you would think so if you were that great, we'll
need three. They've held him to three field goals and

yard touchdown drive and over eight minute drive, sixteen to three,
about seven minutes left in the third and you know,

we can't call this election, but some of the precincts
are reporting. The best part about all this, Steve, is
the Jets could have had Trevor Lawrence, had they not
won that extra game, had Frank Gore not won that game,
for you, we're gonna win a couple of Jason could
have been watching Trevor Lawrence take his Jets to the playoffs.
Instead he gets Zack Wilson, Jets, Zack Wilson and instead.

Now the Jets are gonna wind up being the Pete
Davidson of the NFL and the office, because they're gonna
be linked with every quarterback every single day, every day.
I want a new rumor. Hey, guess with the Jets
are talking to now. They're talking to the Packers about
Aaron Rodgers. They're talking to Tom Brady's people. They're talking
to Bills about John A, talking to Kim Kardashian there,

they're talking to Chiefs about Patrick Mahomes there. I want
that they're gonna be the Pete Davidson of the NFL.
They're talking to Ariana Grande. What is she can't she's
too short, She can't possibly play for this team. No, no, no,
she could throw some jump passes. I've seen it happen.
She's better than Zach Wilson. Throw a jump pass and
hit the center right in the small in the bag.

Better than Zach Wilson. Hey, do you think Zach Wilson
couldn't do that? Absolutely, Zach Wilson at eighty four yards
passing tonight, it's Trevor Lawrence close to two yards passing tonight.
It's one of those games where you get on your

And for all the calls of the Jets have to
make a quarterback change at halftime, Joe Flacco stinks too. Okay,
who are they going? Wh what do you really want? Who?

You know, if this was two thousand eight, I'd agree
with you, boy, we'd be great. But the Jets have
completely They've whipped on the quarterback position. Their bet, their
their whole hope of the season is is that an
undrafted guy that they got off the Cowboys roster and
Mike White can be really good. Think about that for
a second, that's where you're at the Jet. There's nobody
you're bringing Joe Flacking. They wrote him in for one

play last week. He fumble and it contributed to the Laws.
Now again avnaw Zack Wilson's got to play. They've completely
mismanaged the quarterback position and that's why they are going
to be and I'm telling you they're gonna be in
every single quarterback who's out there, who may or may
not be upset with uh their team not Hey, someone
liked a post that ripped the head coach. Let's call

them to see if they're availing a bowl. Let's call
they have to be linked with every single quarterback next year,
and you know what, probably a new offensive system because
this is not working either. Right, it's it's not even
even when Mike White the last couple of weeks they
couldn't score touchdots. I don't know what you want. The
third round saw Davis Mills selected in that draft that
you referenced. It went Trevor Lawrence number one overall to

the Jags, and then the Jets Zach Wilson, and then
the forty Niners got Trey Lance also in the top
half of that first round, which Justin Fields taken and
Mac Jones your favorite and correct me if I'm wrong.
You've talked about him a lot for a third rounder.
Davis Mills has actually had somewhat of an NFL career
so far. He's had a way better and he's you know,

he's going in and out. He's playing every other play
like like Steve Spurrier is running the team. And he's
still better than Zach Wilson. He's part of a two
quarterback system in Houston, and he's still better than Jason.
Your daughter, Zoey's better than Zach Wilson because though he's
got an arm, I'll tell you, Zoe he could throw.
You don't even need an arm. You can have no arms.
You're better than Zack Wilson. Just zip that ball over

the Your quarterback has no arms, no trust me, watch
what he does. Watching that's when they started. He'll just
kick the football out, big spiral. It's gonna be literally,
somebody with arms is better than Wilson. Now we are
not calling this game yet because they why not? Why

in the first quarter. Uh honestly, no, I'm being serious.
That first drive they get the sack, the fumble, if
you can call it. It's an awful start the offensive
it wasn't quite I mean, I guess they went for
where and it was in the games. You couldn't get

a better start offensively for a struggling team to be
handed the ball at the fifteen yard right from a
guy who is your best player on Dave, one of
the best players in the NFL. You didn't know if
he was gonna play, he's playing tonight, and he makes
a huge play and it ratchets up everybody. The stadium
is electric, and you go and that's it. And I

really I feel that took all everything and the energy,
all all the air out of the balloon for the
Jets and that and that's part of what's got And
plus Zach Wilson is terrible and the Jets, I mean,
I don't know what, I don't know what. What What do
you want me to say? And then they punted on
the next three drives, and then the interception and then
another punt and now they have to get everything surrounding
the Jets offense is bad. Everything surrounding it, but they're

difference is good. Yeah, the defense is really good, but
this defense is really good. A normal, regular, not above
average NFL offense could do something with that defense. Jets
are not doing well. It just points out what I know,
what you're saying. But the Jets there you go. So
they got people's hopes up at seven and four and

that was that. That was the highlight of the season.

I think you were still around at that point, right,

is not what the Jets need to do. I told you.

They should never draft a quarterback again in one of
the first two rounds. They should use those picks on
often skilled players defense. Whenever the case, maybe and then
you go out and you get a guy like Jimmy Garoppolo,
and then maybe you win the championship. But once again

Football League in the history league of drafting quarterbacks. They

a starting job somewhere in the National Football League and

now our offense thinks that we can't win a game.
And now it's got me back to the Mets and

back to the Mets. So it's actually okay for me
right now. I was waiting for Jack Wilson to pull
like in Jack McDowell. Remember when he pitched for the

Yankees and the Yankee fans are pulling the hell out
of him and he just burned them all. Remember that.
I was waiting for Zack Wilson to do that. He
didn't do that. Um, And apparently there was a story
that he had given what all of his offensive lion
scooters or something. Uh, he better trade those in and
maybe get him all Ferrari's because he's done. It's over.

It is over for Zack Wilson. Next year, it is um,
he'll have a lot more time to chase hot mom,
because I don't know that he's gonna be working in
the National Football League. No, this is the end of
Zack Wilson's Jets career. It is that. And then we

are deep in Jaguar's territory, and you know what I
love and Steve, I know you're thinking the same thing.
I am. Is it seeing this guy and now he's
got like thirty five yards rushing already. It's like it's
like I'm watching Tebow do it because he's wearing number
fifteen and all these plays are like Tebow plays where
he's faking the hand off and he's going up the middle.
It's like watching team. But it's like, Hey, if we
had Tebow and he was good, this is what it

would look like. This is fantastic. Shown some speed here,
It's been great. Yeah, look at that. It's outstanding. That's
outstanding Jets football. Yeah, they can't. They can't keep giving
it to him on every play, though eventually they're gonna
you know, I think they have three first downs on
this drive and had three all night until this drive. Yeah.

and three on Zack Wilson. Yeah, they're couldn't Zack Wilson

I was watching Bakes Petty play for the Jets, you know,
play quarterback, and oh, my goodness, worst the worst contract
in New York whatever the Jets gave Jack Wilson or
whatever the Giants gave Kenny Galladay because they're both pretty bad. Well, well,

then both teams will be out of that contract. I
thought he was going to nominate Carlos Korea's contract. No, no,
he's upset. He wanted Carlos Korea. But the Yankees don't
spend anymore because the Mets have turned into the Yankees.
Wait wait wait wait wait wait no no no, no,
no wait wait wait spent a lot of key, judge,
we spent to get road on. Yes, we don't spend
as much as uh Steve Cohen in the Mets, but

I mean he's gone next level with that spending, Like
I mean, the metso buying everybody, and I hey, I'm
a Yankees fan. We've won championships in the past. I
can't say anything negative. Cohen's going all and I wish
he was the owner of the Yankees, to be quite honestly,

now you gotta go out there and win it, buddy.
And last year you had a pretty good team and
guess what you came up short. Yeah, well that's all right. Hey,

I know you're just hoping that we buy Josh Donaldson
from you for some reason. Dude, I will, I will,
I will pay you to take him. I can't stand him,
him and Hex both of them. Get rid of both
of them. I'm done. One of the worst trades the
Yankees ever made was getting Josh Donaldson. That was that
was just awful. He was never even a Yankee like
that guy's a hot dog, He's not. He's not a

Yankee like I mean, the guy does bat flips for
like deep drives that get you know, caught on the
warning truck. He's just awful. But he's not as bad
as Jack Wilson. Steve. Every conversation I've had a Bobby
Funnel the last month, every single conversation, within thirty seconds
of him answering the phone, how you doing how's things,
how's work? No, no, no, it's we gotta get rid

of Josh Donaldson. It's like it's the number one thing.
How's your family doing? Family's fine. We gotta get rid
of Josh Donalds. Oh, I can't stand them. I can't
believe that jets here. What do you guys like on

I was actually it wasn't like bizarro world for me
for a few weeks because I was actually saying a
lot of good things about the Jet. I like Mike White.
Garrett Wilson and White were hooking up, making sweet fantasy
music together. A night came out of nowhere. He was
putting up big numbers. And now I get to laugh

at him again because unfortunately White got hurt and Jack
Wilson spinks, Yeah, that's how it goes. That's how it goes.
I'm telling you. They just they just just I do
hope Straggler leads them into the end zone here and uh,
let's like that's not gonna happen, Okay. But regardless, anything

for Zack Wilson will look worse than he already does.
I don't know why it takes such such great pride
in this kid being bad. Maybe because he's way more
handsome than me. He gets a lot of good look
at women, he's got a lot of money. Maybe I'm
a little bit jealous, but also Jet Jet. And part
of the reason why Smith that I feel this way
about the Jet is you, because every time you guys

drafted the new corn that's like going to the super Bowl,
and that's so much another fourth down, here we go. Well,
I'm glad I could give you your best fifteen minutes
of the week, Fabs. I'm glad that this is this
is clearly the best time you've had in the last

blewed out lead to this Jaguars team last Sunday, so

is really quite amazing. Well, at least all the Jet

stuff will be cheaper. If I want to buy Christmas
presents now? And are you buying Straveler jerseys today? Yeah? Well,
now let's just have my jersey. No, no, no, I
just get this. I just get a Straveler nameplate and
put it over my tebow jersey because they're both wearing fifteen.
They'll be okay. I get the feeling that this was
the setup, and I said that's on Twitter sort of

that Straveler and Zach Wilson their futures really are in Hollywood. Um,
that they're going to do like a biker movie where
where basically Zach Wilson is the zach Afon character in
the biker bard s traveler and straddler has to somehow
save him from getting completely destroyed by the other bikers

like that. Just this makes sense to me, doesn't it.
The pretty boy, yeah that gets destroyed basically, yeah, yeah,
if you're picking me right up there, Jacole, thank you
very much, just making me feel great right there, the
number two pick. And his career is over in less
than two years. He's an I'm saying he's he's josh

His career is gonna be like Joshua Marcus. JaMarcus Russell
might have lasted longer than this. Okay, without looking, If
you pick Zach Wilson's best game as a jet, is
that better or worse than JaMarcus Russell's best game as
a raider. JaMarcus Russell had a legitimate reason for family.
It's not a good reason, but it's a legitimate reason.

Right Like he was um, he was not ready for
the big time, and he was abusing drugs basically, and
he did all these things that made him get out
of league. Zack Wilson has no sensible reason for why
he is this bad. Other end, he simply doesn't care
(28:04):
that much about his profession. That's that's how I've used it.
And that to me is um is more damning than
anything m to me about Exaclos And like this is
such an epic failure of somebody to take their job seriously.
(28:26):
Is it is this something you're is this something you're hearing,
or is this something that you've seen in him in
the last He just watched him play. He doesn't know
what he's supposed to do. He doesn't know how the
players are supposed to be running. Like I've watched brock
Purty played three times now, right once. I'm telligent to
too in person, right, And I'm not saying brock Purty
(28:47):
is a great player by any stretch of the imagination.
Like he doesn't have this super powerful arm throws it
all over or you know, does super great things with
his legs or anything like that. Right, none of that
is the case. Okay, But he knows what he's supposed
to be doing. And he's a rookie. He took it seriously,
(29:08):
learned the playbook. He's very experienced. He processes really fast,
and he gets into the right play. He processes faster
than Jimmy Garoppolo. That's why I think the forty still
have as good a chance now to get to the
super Bowl as they did um with Garoppolo. I don't
(29:29):
think that has appreciably changed because they're going to get
their base on their defense and Perdy is gonna get
him into the right place. Now. People are gonna learn
how to attack perty and all those other things. But
he you, when you watch him, you go that guy
knows what he's doing. He's not hesitating, he gets him
into the right spots. He operates the play. Zack Wilson
is in year two and you can tell that he
(29:53):
does not process that fast. You can tell that he
doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing. You can
tell that you know this is he's overwhelmed of the situation.
And that only happened if you haven't done your proper
amount of work. That only happens if you haven't practiced this.
(30:16):
And I know there's serious footballs up, but this is
it right, You're just not prepared. And that, to me
is an incredibly damning statement about where Zach Wilson is
given the amount of money who has given and the investment,
you know, both in resource and resources and money and
everything else that they put into this guy. He simply
(30:38):
is not worked at his craft. And that I mean,
that's so it's almost disgusting. Well, i'll tell you what
what I see. What I see too in that, I
mean it's is that, yes, some of it is. He's
not good and he's not been able to get it right.
He's had the light the lightbulb get talented. No, no,
he's talented, right, but the light bulb hasn't gone on
(30:59):
for me, has been able to get it right. But
what the The one thing I really and I've been
saying this all season long, is that this is a
kid who came into the NFL with a very specific
skill set, a big arm, making plays improvisationally. You get
him running one way, I can turn and throw it
all the way back to the other side of the field.
Those a couple of big plays he made last week
against the Lions. This is his skill set. And what
(31:19):
do the Jets try to do. We're gonna put you
into a short passing, get rid of the football and
eight tens of a second or less offense. And that's
something he does. That's not what he does. Don't do that, no, no, no, no, no, no,
it's he did that kind of offense you know in college.
Number one, okay, number two. That doesn't account for when
(31:40):
you're supposed to throw the ball, you know, deep against
the single single high coverage and that's the play design
and you and you know the last game, the previous
one where he refused to take blame for producing only
three points when he did that, Okay, you know he
missed five rows that we're supposed to go against single highs, right,
(32:03):
and just didn't know what he was supposed to do. Okay,
that's just problem. That is knowing the offense. That is
having worked at the offense to know what you're supposed
to do and the plays you're supposed to make, right,
and that he doesn't know. Okay. Now, if he doesn't
fit in the offense, that's a different thing. But he's
not extually keen the plays that way they're supposed to
(32:24):
be drawn up. And that, to me is that's been excusable.
A P has just compared Zack Wilson and Jamacus Russell
their stats after twenty two career starts, which for Russell
was near the end of his NFL career. Well, the
same thing for Zach Wilson. We're Russell at this point
(32:44):
of his career had seventeen touchdown passes, eighteen interceptions, Wilson
fifteen touchdown passes, eighteen interceptions. The win loss record jamacus
Russell seven and fifteen, Wilson eight and fourteen. We mentioned
earlier how, for example, we had the top two guys
in draft going up against each other, and there couldn't
(33:06):
be a more stark difference. How is it generally not
even a Jets question that NFL scouting departments put in
so much time looking at the quarterback position to draft
in the first round and fail at it because so
much of it is not about pure talent. So much
(33:28):
of so much of playing quarterback is what's inside of
your head and can you be worked at it? Do
you know what you're doing? Do you know how you know?
It's a bunch of things like talent is important, don't
get me wrong, and measurable. If you gotta be able
to throw the ball, you have to be able to
throw a deep out the way that Trevor Lawrence threw
(33:50):
that deep out in I think it was in the
fourth quarter of that game. Um, today, Jones, there you go.
That's what it has to look like. Right, that's why
you picked guys up high in the draft. Right, They've
got that kind of skill set in order to be great.
And you know, we just see this time and time again.
You know, whether it's Johnny Unitus or whether it's Joe Montana,
(34:13):
where this Tom Brady. So much of it about is
do you know what you're supposed to be doing and
the process fast enough? Because this game happens so fast.
So yeah, but you want to take guys want number
one and number two because there are very few people
who have that kind of skill set, whether it's John
(34:34):
Elway or whether it's a Jeff George. But you're likely
to get very disparate results, just like John Elway and
Jeff George. Um, if you don't pick guys who a
no the amount of work that they have to do, indeed,
you don't support them. Um. And that's not you know,
that's not Zack Wilson's fault. They went out and got
(34:55):
Garrett Wilson, They got Brett Tall you know, unfortunately got
hurt right, but he doesn't know what he's supposed to
be doing. But this is this is again, this is
incredibly damning, and he may be able to fix this.
Like the unfortunate part is he was forced to go
back out in the field this year because he hasn't
had time to go and say, Okay, I gotta fix
(35:16):
this and this is what I have to do. You
don't learn that in a couple of weeks um sitting
on the bench. You have to go and spend an
off season. So if I was the Jets, I wouldn't
necessarily give up on him, but I would be monitoring
him very closely to see is this is this guy
working at it the way we need to have him
(35:37):
working at it to um, you know, to resuscitate his
career next year. And we think it's over right now,
I think going and you know, busses asked, and go
work at it a lot, you know, the you know,
this offseason and really get it together. I don't think
that's happening, But I wouldn't want to give up on
him just yet, and I'm certainly looking at but I'm
(36:00):
also looking at other options a long way. And the
coaches comment after the game tonight from Robert Salo, we
haven't seen the last of Zach. He claims that they
starts drings somewhere next year. We haven't seen still be
in the end. He's claiming tonight after the loss that
they did not intend to bench him in this game tonight,
that they just wanted to get the running game going
(36:21):
by bringing in straveling. Life comes up with all sorts
of things, you know, like the other one, you know
what was the one. We're not gonna worry about the
bad stuff, Like, come on, stop it, Robert, just stop babbling.
Just stand there and say, the kids not ready to play.
He has not done what he's supposed to do, and
he needs to. He needs to get his act together,
(36:44):
be honest, and everybody and the kid will know it.
That everybody knows it, anybody who understands the basics of football.
He's got a lot of work to do. It doesn't
mean he can't do the work, but he's got a
lot of work to do. Right So we'll see. But
as of right now, and this is an in one
of the things where you just go, dude, we've been
(37:04):
doing It's as simple as that, what have you been
doing that got you to this point? Because whatever you
have been doing and there's a there's probably a really
good mom joke in here. Um, but you know, like,
whatever you've been doing, you have not been focused on
(37:25):
the things you need to be focused on. And to
to become an NFL quarterback, it is that simple. And
so are you willing to do whatever it takes to
turn it around? That is, um, you know that's the
question going forward, And then you have to actually watch
the results. See hard work, smart work. I'd rather go
(37:47):
back and thank Frank Gore for helping us win that
game that allowed us to draft Zack Wilson instead of
Trevor Lawrence a couple of years ago. Let's make sure
we win that game, so we make sure we draft second. Overall,
we could add the guy who look good night and
the guy who's got his career on track after year.
No could I add him? No, no, no, thank you

taking justin fields. I'd love to have justin fields. At
least I know we'd run the ball. Well. At least
you have a guy who who who's really entertaining and
for a period of time is going to be really
really fun. Um, however long he laughs, um, playing that

style of football and hopefully he can last a long time.
But Justin Fields, no question, very interesting guy at this
point in the time in his career and a guy
who has really worked at his craft. You can see
that when you watch Justin Fields play. But God, watching
Zach Wilson is so delicious to know how much you

suffer is it's quite hysterical and maybe thank you. I
appreciate that and appreciate you and everybody else talking to
me like it was my decision to draft Zach Wilson.
Like the Jets called me and said what do we do? Said, Rain,
you climbed aboard this Jets train, um, and and you
gotta run with it. You have to take responsibility. You

know it is um. You know it's not the peace train. Um,
not at all. Um. It's a love train. People all
over the world, you join in, join the love train.
Love train, Zack Wilson. Yeah, Zack Wilson, the love train.
I don't I dare I say what that would look like.

But um, Jets train, we got it. We have to
do something. Yeah, we've got to figure this out. Yeah,
there's gotta be a song in here. Jets train. Um

I haven't maintained what I said last night. If the
Jets lose tonight, which is looking extremely likely because they've
played dead from the neck up since the beginning of
the game, Uh, it's okay. I'm on vacation starting tomorrow.
I don't have to worry about the Jets I have
to worry about. I'll keep an eye on the Carlos
Corea physical. When the results come in tomorrow, it will
(01:04):
be fine. But everything else I don't need to worry
about it. I don't need to worry about the Jets
after So they're putting you out of your misery officially
tonight as they sink. Yes. It's almost the equivalent of
when the Mets lose big. If they lose it like
on a getaway day, like on a Monday, and it's like, oh,
the Mets lost today. They've lost the Rockies ten three.
(01:24):
But at least they got the losing out of the
way earlier. I could go on with my day. I
have to worry about I have to worry about all
the Mets. Hey, they get a big win tonight. They
can win, they can finish, they can win the series,
and then move on. Hey, if you're gonna lose like that,
lose early in the day. Hey if you're gonna if
you're gonna lose and get eliminated, because suddenly you realize
that you have all kinds of problems that you never
were able to fix. At least you're doing it now,

and I'm okay with it. It's not about be all
right all right now I can move on. I got
my vacation starting tomorrow. It'll be terrific. I don't have
to worry about anything. I just wait, I'll watch the
Syracuse Bowl game next week. That that's all I need,
Steve to say her whatever helps you sleep, I guess
we'll support you in this. But there are times, many
times tonight where I felt like, are the Jets even
there on the field? What what is going on here?

And you've heard the booing, of course from the home fans,
from you know, the faithful, and I think that's the
proper term that have had their hopes up at points
this season, and my goodness, is it crashing the last month.
It is insane. It is absolutely insane. Look, i'll tell
you what's going on right now, that the Jaguars are
beating the Jets thirteen three, they were about to most
(02:29):
likely kick a field goal to go up sixteen three
in this game. The Jets offense has been abysmal. Yes,
it's raining, but the Jaguars are figure to watching this game,
I can tell you I'm shocked, Steve, shocked that the
Jaguars looked like coming in they had a game plan,
they knew what they wanted to do to execute it,
and they're doing it. And the Jets just look like
(02:50):
we're gonna throw the same stuff out there and and
hope maybe because it's a different day that it works.
Because the Jets offense is abysmal, it's too predictable. The
Jaguars defense inks. They stink as bad as the Jet stink. Overall.
The Jaguars defense stinks, and they are stopping and they're
on top of every play the Jets want to run,
and Zack Wilson still is not accurate with the football.
(03:11):
So you have everything is on display right now with
the Jets that Zack Wilson is bad. Now you have
to question, is the system they're running we're worth it
because you have everybody stopping this. Now at some point
you have to understand, well, we do have pretty good
playmakers on the field of different positions. It can't all
be the quarterback. The system and what you're running has
to be to blame as well, because you're not executing
(03:32):
it right. You're not executing anything. So if you can't execute,
and you had still had trouble with Mike White when
he was in there, how good of of of it
can it be? Because you have some good wide receivers,
you have a decent couple of tight ends, your offensive
line is okay, They're a little leaky tonight, couple of injuries,
but buy and largely offensive line has been good, and
you just look like you can't do anything. This is
(03:53):
just absolutely abysmal. And before you can say, well the
weather is, you know what, the Jaguars even moving the football, okay.
They seem to know exactly what they want to do.
Trevor Lawrence is is knows exactly what he wants to
do with the football. He's making all the right decisions.
And while it's been tough because the Jets defense is tough,
the backbreaking plays running the football, he's scrambled, he's got
(04:14):
fifty yards running. They they'll get a big play to
Evan Ingram when they want to. They're staying away from
Sauce Gardner and and DJ Reid and they're doing exactly
what they want to, which is what you expect the team. Hey,
we're gonna game plan and know exactly what we want
to do on Thursday night. And I feel like the
Jets and well, let's just keep doing the same things
and hopefully we're gonna catch lightning in a bottle. This
is just absolutely the Jets saying we're done with this season.
(04:36):
Right Sometimes sometimes the first the first beginning of a
game can can tell you about the entire game is
going to be. And the beginning of the game, quinnin Williams,
who's one of the best defensive linemen and all of
football probably is is an All Pro defensive tackle, makes
the big play, the sack of Lawrence. They get the
fumble and the Jets offense goes nowhere and kicks a
(04:57):
field goal. I feel like all the energy was let
out of the stadium, out of the team at that point,
where it's look at the problems we have. We have
a golden opertunity, have the ball in the fifteen yard
line and we can't get more than two yards, and
now we're kicking a field goal. And from from that play,
it's been a gradual downhill of the Jets offense, the
defense playing as well as they can, but still the
(05:18):
Jaguars moving the football on him enough. And it's just
been from from that beginning of the game. Sometimes that's
sets such a big tone, and that's what happened tonight.
All these things are happening, Steve, my head is going
in a thousand different directions right now. After the early
Jets field goal and a brief three nothing lead. Jacksonville
answered with a field goal, and now Riley Patterson has
kicked his third field goal of the night. He's booted
(05:39):
him from thirty two yards forty five and now from
forty one yards out. So here's where it stands. Mid
third quarter. Jets at home are not only losing to
Jacksonville sixteen to three. Now on the stat sheet it
is sixteen first downs to three. Is that good? I
repeat out loud. The Jets offense has three first downs
were in the third quarter. I'll say officially, no, that
(06:05):
is not good. And you talked about what the Jets
have out there on offense, what they have as far
as defense means you don't need to have a ton
on offense. Am I right? In this? This is not
like last year where Justin Herbert had to score forty
points and multiple games to have a chance to win.
This is quite the opposite. Can you get me twenty something?
(06:27):
It's like the Raiders. Actually, can the offense just get
me something? We're gonna be closed. We're gonna be in
these games. Jets offense doing zip tonight. That's why That's
why I'm telling you it's the quarterback it's the system.
It's just not it's the whole team. Jason stops. The
whole team. Come on, good, come on, the whole team stinks.
We put three Pro bowlers on in the Pro Bowl.
(06:49):
We have four Pro bowlers this year. What does not
have to do with stinking defense? Because the defense is good,
the offense stinks. The defense is good. Yeah, well when
when when nothing good about this Jets team? What do
you expect? I just stop. You can pile on the offense,
but stop, pilot. You have three points. Yeah, okay, if
you change all the Jets, if the defense was so good,
(07:10):
where's their touchdown? Where's the defensive touchdown? Oh? Sure, that's
we need. We need to defense. We need three defensive touches,
you would think so if you were that great, we'll
need three. They've held him to three field goals and
the one t Jags got was on a ninety six
yard touchdown drive and over eight minute drive, sixteen to three,
about seven minutes left in the third and you know,
(07:31):
we can't call this election, but some of the precincts
are reporting. The best part about all this, Steve, is
the Jets could have had Trevor Lawrence, had they not
won that extra game, had Frank Gore not won that game,
for you, we're gonna win a couple of Jason could
have been watching Trevor Lawrence take his Jets to the playoffs.
Instead he gets Zack Wilson, Jets, Zack Wilson and instead.

Now the Jets are gonna wind up being the Pete
Davidson of the NFL and the office, because they're gonna
be linked with every quarterback every single day, every day.
I want a new rumor. Hey, guess with the Jets
are talking to now. They're talking to the Packers about
Aaron Rodgers. They're talking to Tom Brady's people. They're talking
to Bills about John A, talking to Kim Kardashian there,
(08:15):
they're talking to Chiefs about Patrick Mahomes there. I want
that they're gonna be the Pete Davidson of the NFL.
They're talking to Ariana Grande. What is she can't she's
too short, She can't possibly play for this team. No, no, no,
she could throw some jump passes. I've seen it happen.
She's better than Zach Wilson. Throw a jump pass and
hit the center right in the small in the bag.
(08:36):
Better than Zach Wilson. Hey, do you think Zach Wilson
couldn't do that? Absolutely, Zach Wilson at eighty four yards
passing tonight, it's Trevor Lawrence close to two yards passing tonight.
It's one of those games where you get on your
computer and you keep hitting refresh, going, oh boy, I
have refreshed while he's got eighty four yards passing. Oh no, no, no,
that's eighty four yards. Still says three first down. That's
(08:56):
what it was at halftime. By the way, it's still
three first downs for the j Yeah, that's eighty four yards.
And for all the calls of the Jets have to
make a quarterback change at halftime, Joe Flacco stinks too. Okay,
who are they going? Wh what do you really want? Who?
What do you really want? The Jets have completely position.
(09:17):
You know, if this was two thousand eight, I'd agree
with you, boy, we'd be great. But the Jets have
completely They've whipped on the quarterback position. Their bet, their
their whole hope of the season is is that an
undrafted guy that they got off the Cowboys roster and
Mike White can be really good. Think about that for
a second, that's where you're at the Jet. There's nobody
you're bringing Joe Flacking. They wrote him in for one
(09:38):
play last week. He fumble and it contributed to the Laws.
Now again avnaw Zack Wilson's got to play. They've completely
mismanaged the quarterback position and that's why they are going
to be and I'm telling you they're gonna be in
every single quarterback who's out there, who may or may
not be upset with uh their team not Hey, someone
liked a post that ripped the head coach. Let's call
(09:58):
them to see if they're availing a bowl. Let's call
they have to be linked with every single quarterback next year,
and you know what, probably a new offensive system because
this is not working either. Right, it's it's not even
even when Mike White the last couple of weeks they
couldn't score touchdots. I don't know what you want. The
third round saw Davis Mills selected in that draft that
you referenced. It went Trevor Lawrence number one overall to
(10:19):
the Jags, and then the Jets Zach Wilson, and then
the forty Niners got Trey Lance also in the top
half of that first round, which Justin Fields taken and
Mac Jones your favorite and correct me if I'm wrong.
You've talked about him a lot for a third rounder.
Davis Mills has actually had somewhat of an NFL career
so far. He's had a way better and he's you know,
(10:41):
he's going in and out. He's playing every other play
like like Steve Spurrier is running the team. And he's
still better than Zach Wilson. He's part of a two
quarterback system in Houston, and he's still better than Jason.
Your daughter, Zoey's better than Zach Wilson because though he's
got an arm, I'll tell you, Zoe he could throw.
You don't even need an arm. You can have no arms.
You're better than Zack Wilson. Just zip that ball over
(11:01):
the Your quarterback has no arms, no trust me, watch
what he does. Watching that's when they started. He'll just
kick the football out, big spiral. It's gonna be literally,
somebody with arms is better than Wilson. Now we are
not calling this game yet because they why not? Why
not be as you referenced a defensive touchdown, you're not
calling and two or three defensive touchdown you know, just
(11:23):
too and the Jets are right back. This game over
in the first quarter. Uh honestly, no, I'm being serious.
That first drive they get the sack, the fumble, if
you can call it. It's an awful start the offensive
it wasn't quite I mean, I guess they went for
where and it was in the games. You couldn't get
(11:43):
a better start offensively for a struggling team to be
handed the ball at the fifteen yard right from a
guy who is your best player on Dave, one of
the best players in the NFL. You didn't know if
he was gonna play, he's playing tonight, and he makes
a huge play and it ratchets up everybody. The stadium
is electric, and you go and that's it. And I
(12:06):
really I feel that took all everything and the energy,
all all the air out of the balloon for the
Jets and that and that's part of what's got And
plus Zach Wilson is terrible and the Jets, I mean,
I don't know what, I don't know what. What What do
you want me to say? And then they punted on
the next three drives, and then the interception and then
another punt and now they have to get everything surrounding
the Jets offense is bad. Everything surrounding it, but they're
(12:28):
difference is good. Yeah, the defense is really good, but
this defense is really good. A normal, regular, not above
average NFL offense could do something with that defense. Jets
are not doing well. It just points out what I know,
what you're saying. But the Jets there you go. So
they got people's hopes up at seven and four and
(12:50):
that was that. That was the highlight of the season.

thought he was going to nominate Carlos Korea's contract. No, no,

I don't know why it takes such such great pride

His career is gonna be like Joshua Marcus. JaMarcus Russell
might have lasted longer than this. Okay, without looking, If
you pick Zach Wilson's best game as a jet, is
that better or worse than JaMarcus Russell's best game as
a raider. JaMarcus Russell had a legitimate reason for family.
It's not a good reason, but it's a legitimate reason.

Right Like he was um, he was not ready for
the big time, and he was abusing drugs basically, and
he did all these things that made him get out
of league. Zack Wilson has no sensible reason for why
he is this bad. Other end, he simply doesn't care

that much about his profession. That's that's how I've used it.
And that to me is um is more damning than
anything m to me about Exaclos And like this is
such an epic failure of somebody to take their job seriously.

Is it is this something you're is this something you're hearing,
or is this something that you've seen in him in
the last He just watched him play. He doesn't know
what he's supposed to do. He doesn't know how the
players are supposed to be running. Like I've watched brock
Purty played three times now, right once. I'm telligent to
too in person, right, And I'm not saying brock Purty

is a great player by any stretch of the imagination.
Like he doesn't have this super powerful arm throws it
all over or you know, does super great things with
his legs or anything like that. Right, none of that
is the case. Okay, But he knows what he's supposed
to be doing. And he's a rookie. He took it seriously,

learned the playbook. He's very experienced. He processes really fast,
and he gets into the right play. He processes faster
than Jimmy Garoppolo. That's why I think the forty still
have as good a chance now to get to the
super Bowl as they did um with Garoppolo. I don't
(29:29):
think that has appreciably changed because they're going to get
their base on their defense and Perdy is gonna get
him into the right place. Now. People are gonna learn
how to attack perty and all those other things. But
he you, when you watch him, you go that guy
knows what he's doing. He's not hesitating, he gets him
into the right spots. He operates the play. Zack Wilson
is in year two and you can tell that he
(29:53):
does not process that fast. You can tell that he
doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing. You can
tell that you know this is he's overwhelmed of the situation.
And that only happened if you haven't done your proper
amount of work. That only happens if you haven't practiced this.
(30:16):
And I know there's serious footballs up, but this is
it right, You're just not prepared. And that, to me
is an incredibly damning statement about where Zach Wilson is
given the amount of money who has given and the investment,
you know, both in resource and resources and money and
everything else that they put into this guy. He simply
(30:38):
is not worked at his craft. And that I mean,
that's so it's almost disgusting. Well, i'll tell you what
what I see. What I see too in that, I
mean it's is that, yes, some of it is. He's
not good and he's not been able to get it right.
He's had the light the lightbulb get talented. No, no,
he's talented, right, but the light bulb hasn't gone on
(30:59):
for me, has been able to get it right. But
what the The one thing I really and I've been
saying this all season long, is that this is a
kid who came into the NFL with a very specific
skill set, a big arm, making plays improvisationally. You get
him running one way, I can turn and throw it
all the way back to the other side of the field.
Those a couple of big plays he made last week
against the Lions. This is his skill set. And what
(31:19):
do the Jets try to do. We're gonna put you
into a short passing, get rid of the football and
eight tens of a second or less offense. And that's
something he does. That's not what he does. Don't do that, no, no, no, no, no, no,
it's he did that kind of offense you know in college.
Number one, okay, number two. That doesn't account for when
(31:40):
you're supposed to throw the ball, you know, deep against
the single single high coverage and that's the play design
and you and you know the last game, the previous
one where he refused to take blame for producing only
three points when he did that, Okay, you know he
missed five rows that we're supposed to go against single highs, right,
(32:03):
and just didn't know what he was supposed to do. Okay,
that's just problem. That is knowing the offense. That is
having worked at the offense to know what you're supposed
to do and the plays you're supposed to make, right,
and that he doesn't know. Okay. Now, if he doesn't
fit in the offense, that's a different thing. But he's
not extually keen the plays that way they're supposed to
(32:24):
be drawn up. And that, to me is that's been excusable.
A P has just compared Zack Wilson and Jamacus Russell
their stats after twenty two career starts, which for Russell
was near the end of his NFL career. Well, the
same thing for Zach Wilson. We're Russell at this point
(32:44):
of his career had seventeen touchdown passes, eighteen interceptions, Wilson
fifteen touchdown passes, eighteen interceptions. The win loss record jamacus
Russell seven and fifteen, Wilson eight and fourteen. We mentioned
earlier how, for example, we had the top two guys
in draft going up against each other, and there couldn't
(33:06):
be a more stark difference. How is it generally not
even a Jets question that NFL scouting departments put in
so much time looking at the quarterback position to draft
in the first round and fail at it because so
much of it is not about pure talent. So much
(33:28):
of so much of playing quarterback is what's inside of
your head and can you be worked at it? Do
you know what you're doing? Do you know how you know?
It's a bunch of things like talent is important, don't
get me wrong, and measurable. If you gotta be able
to throw the ball, you have to be able to
throw a deep out the way that Trevor Lawrence threw
(33:50):
that deep out in I think it was in the
fourth quarter of that game. Um, today, Jones, there you go.
That's what it has to look like. Right, that's why
you picked guys up high in the draft. Right, They've
got that kind of skill set in order to be great.
And you know, we just see this time and time again.
You know, whether it's Johnny Unitus or whether it's Joe Montana,
(34:13):
where this Tom Brady. So much of it about is
do you know what you're supposed to be doing and
the process fast enough? Because this game happens so fast.
So yeah, but you want to take guys want number
one and number two because there are very few people
who have that kind of skill set, whether it's John
(34:34):
Elway or whether it's a Jeff George. But you're likely
to get very disparate results, just like John Elway and
Jeff George. Um, if you don't pick guys who a
no the amount of work that they have to do, indeed,
you don't support them. Um. And that's not you know,
that's not Zack Wilson's fault. They went out and got
(34:55):
Garrett Wilson, They got Brett Tall you know, unfortunately got
hurt right, but he doesn't know what he's supposed to
be doing. But this is this is again, this is
incredibly damning, and he may be able to fix this.
Like the unfortunate part is he was forced to go
back out in the field this year because he hasn't
had time to go and say, Okay, I gotta fix
(35:16):
this and this is what I have to do. You
don't learn that in a couple of weeks um sitting
on the bench. You have to go and spend an
off season. So if I was the Jets, I wouldn't
necessarily give up on him, but I would be monitoring
him very closely to see is this is this guy
working at it the way we need to have him
(35:37):
working at it to um, you know, to resuscitate his
career next year. And we think it's over right now,
I think going and you know, busses asked, and go
work at it a lot, you know, the you know,
this offseason and really get it together. I don't think
that's happening, But I wouldn't want to give up on
him just yet, and I'm certainly looking at but I'm
(36:00):
also looking at other options a long way. And the
coaches comment after the game tonight from Robert Salo, we
haven't seen the last of Zach. He claims that they
starts drings somewhere next year. We haven't seen still be
in the end. He's claiming tonight after the loss that
they did not intend to bench him in this game tonight,
that they just wanted to get the running game going
(36:21):
by bringing in straveling. Life comes up with all sorts
of things, you know, like the other one, you know
what was the one. We're not gonna worry about the
bad stuff, Like, come on, stop it, Robert, just stop babbling.
Just stand there and say, the kids not ready to play.
He has not done what he's supposed to do, and
he needs to. He needs to get his act together,
(36:44):
be honest, and everybody and the kid will know it.
That everybody knows it, anybody who understands the basics of football.
He's got a lot of work to do. It doesn't
mean he can't do the work, but he's got a
lot of work to do. Right So we'll see. But
as of right now, and this is an in one
of the things where you just go, dude, we've been
(37:04):
doing It's as simple as that, what have you been
doing that got you to this point? Because whatever you
have been doing and there's a there's probably a really
good mom joke in here. Um, but you know, like,
whatever you've been doing, you have not been focused on
(37:25):
the things you need to be focused on. And to
to become an NFL quarterback, it is that simple. And
so are you willing to do whatever it takes to
turn it around? That is, um, you know that's the
question going forward, And then you have to actually watch
the results. See hard work, smart work. I'd rather go
(37:47):
back and thank Frank Gore for helping us win that
game that allowed us to draft Zack Wilson instead of
Trevor Lawrence a couple of years ago. Let's make sure
we win that game, so we make sure we draft second. Overall,
we could add the guy who look good night and
the guy who's got his career on track after year.
No could I add him? No, no, no, thank you

taking justin fields. I'd love to have justin fields. At
least I know we'd run the ball. Well. At least
you have a guy who who who's really entertaining and
for a period of time is going to be really

style of football and hopefully he can last a long time.
But Justin Fields, no question, very interesting guy at this
point in the time in his career and a guy
who has really worked at his craft. You can see
that when you watch Justin Fields play. But God, watching
Zach Wilson is so delicious to know how much you

suffer is it's quite hysterical and maybe thank you. I
appreciate that and appreciate you and everybody else talking to
me like it was my decision to draft Zach Wilson.
Like the Jets called me and said what do we do? Said, Rain,
you climbed aboard this Jets train, um, and and you
gotta run with it. You have to take responsibility. You

know it is um. You know it's not the peace train. Um,
not at all. Um. It's a love train. People all
over the world, you join in, join the love train.
Love train, Zack Wilson. Yeah, Zack Wilson, the love train.
I don't I dare I say what that would look like.

But um, Jets train, we got it. We have to
do something. Yeah, we've got to figure this out. Yeah,
