Fox Sports Radio. Blah blah, blah blah, Tirac dot Com Studios,
blah blah black. Can we go live to the end
of the Lakers next? Can we go live to it?
I don't care that ESPN is got Let's go live.
Let's go. It looks like his head's gonna explode. Lime

(00:44):
out behind the next. Stop fraud, just stop, stop, stop
perpetrating a fraud. You have a O L dial up
right now. Four and a half seconds left to go
in the fourth quarter, Lakers and the Knicks now tied
at one fourteen. The Lakers at a one fourteen one

(01:05):
oh eight lead in the final minute and a half,
and then Jalen Brunson happened a couple of buckets. He
just took a charge from Anthony Davis, a Lakers turn over,
and now the Knicks have a chance to send it
to overtime to win the game, or potentially we go
to Lakers and Knicks are one fourteen a piece. I
can't even trust you, Frostburg. I can't trust you. I

(01:26):
can't trust you. Guys can get into his verbal slap fight,
or maybe you can be participants on that TV show
over this game. I really did enjoy the lebron James
ropa dope on the three pointer he made to make
it one fourteen, one oh eight, where he stayed down
at the other end of the court, and all of

(01:48):
a sudden came creeping back and Julius Randol was nowhere
to be found on the defense end. This is the
ultimate hate watch for Harmon, by the way, Oh yeah,
I hate you. Yeah. He just hopes it ended the tie.
Julie is Randall. I don't know why why do we
Why did the Knicks give him the ball at the
end of games? Okay, there's four and a half seconds left.
They inbound the ball to him. He squares right, he

(02:12):
squares up the defender and stands there for two seconds. Dude,
there's four and a half seconds left in the game.
What are you doing? So when the defender flies by
and he does a spin move back, I was like,
what are you doing? But at the baskets, yeah exactly.
He holds onto the ball for two seconds, then tries
to drive, goes baseline, turns around and even if it went,
it wouldn't accounted because it was too late. I don't

(02:35):
know what we You can't the knicks. You just can't
give the ball to Julius Randley the end of games.
How do you I don't understand. I mean, do they
feel bad like Julius Randall, Hey, he'll be really mad
in the locker room after we don't give him the
ball at the end of the game, Like he you can't.
You can't give him the ball. He doesn't have a
big move. He can't get there. He can't get his
own shot against against when you double team him and
he can't pass out of it. I don't know why

(02:55):
they do this. It's like it's like, oh, good, of
course we'll allow you to inbounds the ball to Julius
handle because he's not gonna make a shot, and that
was just embarrassing. What just happened. He was six of
eighteen on the night before that failed effort, he was
only uh, I mean he's got twenty one, eleven and five,
So I mean a good stat stuff for night that
that moved there along the baseline. You're just shrugging your shoulders,

(03:18):
going what are we what are we doing here? Go
to the bast gets strong draw contact and that was
that the last four minutes, like you know, you're in
the bonus. Take the ball to the rack. They had
that four shot possession. Yeah, let's all shoot from thirty
feet out? What are we doing? Come on, man, but listen,
I want to I'm gonna focus on the posit before

(03:38):
you get to Sean Payton. So I'm gonna focus on
the positive. You mean that they are twenty five twenty
nine from the free throw line. That's good. No, No,
I'm I don't care. I'm focusing on the pot and
that is that if you didn't think so before. With
this being the big marquee game of the night, right now,
there's plenty of people who are getting there. I don't
want to say their first taste, but seeing their first

(03:58):
taste of just how what Jalen Brunson is. I mean,
these last nineties seconds he got the game to over Jayleen.
I mean, he's he was worth every single penny the
Nicks paid for him. He's probably kie he should be. Dude.
The dude is special. Man, I don't have to tell you.
Jalen Brunson is incredibly special. And he went from hey,

(04:19):
you just know he's the knicks best player. He's like,
well he's gonna commit to be the third best guy
behind Randall and back. No, Jalen Brunson's the next best player.
He was so good he would have hit the game winner. Huh.
I don't know why that? Why don't why Why did
Tom Thibodeau feel like we have to get the ball
because clearly don't know. But I don't know what look
we took down because they knew it was gonna Brunson.
They said, you can take that shop. How many times

(04:41):
has harmony with the bulls? It never works? I mean
when he used to draw it up for lull dang
all those years, what I did? He did? You did?
You did? Man? But the last nineties seconds with the
with the with the Knicks down one four teen to one,

(05:01):
oh eight, Jalen Brunson makes a layup. They turned the
ball over. Jalen Brunson sets up Quentin Grinds with an assist.
Jalen Brunson makes a driving like a ten foot floater
to tie the game, and then he takes an Anthony
Davis charge with three and a half seconds left to
go to send the game to overtime. But dude is special, man,
the dude is special. He is special. They would have

(05:24):
gave him the ball if he was special. I don't know.
I gotta talk to Tom Thibodeau after the game, all right,
I will. I will try to talk to him, find out, Hey,
what why this whole Let's give the ball to Julius
random and he's just gonna throw up on himself because
that's exactly what that just was. Are you getting notes
from Rick Brunson of what to say? I don't know. Hey, wait,
wait hang on a second, Rick, Yeah, Rick, can you
go pick up McDonald's. Yeah, listen, they said they said

(05:45):
the order is ready. If you could do that, that that
would be great. Let me check it before you leave.
I'll pull out other people that try to do that
and they fail me. Rick, I'll pause the game. You'll
get to watch the whole thing when you get back. Okay, right,
what do you want me to say here? What I
was saying? Okay, Jalen, Okay, should be a starter? Okay,
got it, should be a starter on the All Star team.
Mike R starter on the All Star Team. Well, I mean,

(06:05):
if nothing else, he can go to the Pro Bowl. Okay, listen, listen, Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen.
What a joke I was gonna start with with Sean Payton,
but this is this is just I mean really, when
I when I saw this today, my first thought was

(06:27):
they're really trying to kill the Pro Bowl. They're absolutely
kind to kill the Pro Bowl and trying to just
get rid of everything. They're trying to get rid of
all of it. Tyler Huntley is in the Pro Bowl. Okay,
this is this happened today. This is not an Onion headline.
It's not Lamar Jackson who gets to go to the
Pro Bowl. It's Tyler Huntley. Tyler Huntley and his two

(06:48):
touchdown passes get to go to the Pro Bowl. Tyler
Huntley and his quarterback rating of seventy five and a half.
Tyler Huntley who was the forty four rated quarterback in
the NFL. Tyler Huntley, who did not have as good
a season as Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissette, Matt Ryan, Davis Mills,

(07:09):
Russell Wilson and all these guys stunk. All those guys
were terrible, and he didn't have the season they did.
And Tyler Huntley gets asked to the Pro Bowl. I mean,
I I don't I don't understand that. I feel like
the NFL is saying, Okay, we really don't want people
to talk about the officiating anymore. We're done with the
whole penalties and the Bengals and Sunday and all this,
and Burrow and and all. They're done with all that. Okay,

(07:32):
let's just kill the Pro Bowl by inviting Tyler hunt Well. No,
I was gonna say, justin that was That was the
other thing, because I was already laughing at that. They're
doing everything they can to throw this guy away. But
now they gotta put out the tweet going congratulations to
the outgoing Derek car I'm reading it exactly. And here's

(07:53):
the other It raises his stuck on the trademarkt Look,
he's a Pro Bowler. No, that's great. It does yeah
out to give mexture my hey, thank you very much, guys.
I appreciate that. Here's here's nobody hears you. Guys are
missing the best part of it. You know, who had
a better year than Tyler Huntry. Jared Stidham, who took
over for Derek Carr down the stretch, had a better

(08:14):
year than than Tyler Hartley didn't. He doesn't get to
go to this is I really I feel like the
NFL we just want to kill the Pro Bowl. We
We're done with it. I don't like like Roger Goodell
woke up today and said, you know, I'm just not
feeling this week long skill competition. Guys are backing out.
You know what, Let's just invite somebody who we really
shouldn't invite and and people will say, ah, you know,

(08:34):
the Pro Pro Bowls done. The Pro Bowl. Josh Allen
chose to go to the Pebble Beach ProAm rather than
participate in the Reindeer. Of course, by the way, they
drew almost seven million viewers for that first last year.
Maybe Tyler Huntley has a really big family and they
all promised to watch. I mean, I I don't know,

(08:54):
Maybe maybe He's got a lot on different uncles. I
don't know. He wanted to make him feel better after
the team threw him under the bus. Yeah he was.
They really put that guy in over Austin Neckler. Think
about that for a second. What a joke it is. Well,
they didn't have another throw the ball, they didn't have
another quarterback. But they don't want the Pro Bowl to
be the forty Nighters the guy unless you asked all

(09:19):
these guys and they said no. And I can't believe
like Davis jumped at it. You know, Jacoby Brissette, you
know what it would have jumped at it. You know
Mac Jones, I mean any of these he would have
been there just to curse people out. Imagine as bad
back Jones and how much he didn't deserve it last year,
he gets it again this year. Look at Mac Jones,
two time Pro Bowl quarterback, and they want me replaced.

(09:39):
Zack Wilson would have made it. You know what this is? Look,
this is they're not far off. No, no, no, no.
This is the most embarrassing part of this is that
I can't even make an argument for Zack Wilson over
Tyler Huntley. That's how bad it is, Oh, you can't
make an argument for Zach or can he Pickett? Okay,

(10:00):
now let's beak the other. I can't make an argument
for Stack Wilson, any Pickett. This comes from our guy
U C. L A Dodger Frank, who has the head
to head comparison of Tyler Huntley and Bailey Zappy. Zappy
only had six fewer completions on twenty fewer pass attempts.

(10:25):
He had a better completion percentage, He had more passing yards,
more total touchdown, same number of interceptions. And he was
too and I as a starter, I mean, how does
it get down to let's call Tyler Huntley unless you know,
somebody had to make a decision and they looked at
the stat lines and they can and and like they
got his line confused with somebody else's line and thought, oh,

(10:47):
that Davis Mills line and that Jacobe Brissette line. Oh
that's oh you know you know what I'm so I
had on my Excel sheet, had it on the wrong line.
Oh wow, we invited the guy with two touchdowns. I've
been to invite the guy that least through seventeen touchdowns.
You know what the playoff quarterback yeah, yeah, I missed that. Yeah,
well we invited the guy that tried to put the
ball over the line of scrimmage and got it knocked
away and lost the game. That, Oh we invited him. Yeah, okay,

(11:12):
that's gonna be yeah. Oh boy, yeah, hey, that's my fault.
That's I'm sorry about that. We we we should have
done that. Low win Hill punched out. But nobody wins
the game. Nobody wins here because Tyler Huply shouldn't have gone.
So it's embarrassing. Derek Carrs is flaunting, Hey, I'm going
the same time. You know, they're take off taken. They

(11:34):
taken Tyler Untley too, so so it's embarrassing for him,
and it's embarrassing for the guys who just mentioned that.
I couldn't even make the argument could go over him.
I couldn't make one for Deshaun Watson over Tyler Huntley
and some of the guys that didn't even finish the season,
hadn't started in weeks, were better and should Mike White.
But let me, I can't even make it for Mike White.

(11:55):
I can't can't play though, right because if he players
didn't get hurt and that forty three million dollars, gets
active playing what he's gonna sign autographs and tricks and
as part of the festivities, what do you mean he
can't he steps in and dive it. All they do
is they go to whole deep hurtes, rotator cuff by

(12:16):
to overthrowing a ball. They just they just do appearances.
That's all they're gonna. But what if he takes a
ball and he says, hey, kid, go along. My dream
has always been to to catch a pass from Derek Carr.
And he goes and he winds up and he says,
I can throw it over that mountain, and all of
a sudden his arm goes flying into the third deck.
He's got an activated contract for next year. They can

(12:37):
come on that. Who who is who has said my
dream is to catch a pass from Derek Carr? Come on, man,
you were so faulty at the very beginning of that statement.
It was like, my dream is to catch who whose
dream has got? Say? It's my dreams? I didn't catch enough.
Every day you send us a note of what you're planning.
You know, kind of where your head is into given
snapshot moment, And there's always something about your damn fevered

(13:00):
dreams in there, So don't go telling me something some
kids somewhere didn't have the Derek carrs my favorite guy,
whether it's because of his impersonation of Elvis Presley or
the fact that he seems to be a nice chat well,
listen to Fews a defensive back, then I could understand it.
Oh too soon? Do you know what's worse than them

(13:21):
getting into the problem? Boy? What's that? How long these
bleeping reps are taking on this BS call and the
reviews of the lengthy here down the stretch? And I
think those people in the front row, they don't look
like they're actually watching the game. They look like they
might be binge watching some television show. You say that
the Ben Stiller's face. Did? Now those two guys that

(13:43):
are right behind behind the those scores there, Yeah, they're
they're not paying. You tell that the Spike LEAs face
when he finds the right Nobody told me you tell
that the Spikes face. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike him in weekdays
at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports

(14:04):
Radio and the I Heart Radio app. I'll tell you
First things first, the Saints did a baller job getting
a first and second round pick for a guy who
was never going to coach for them again. Right like
he he was walking away. And as much as it
was okay, hey, we thanks Sean Payton for all his years,
he was ready to move to walk away and go

(14:24):
someplace else. So you know there's a little bit of bitterness,
and you know that as negotiations go on, Oh you
want to come back, You don't want to come back
with us, you want to go someplace else. It's gonna
get acrimonious. And it was going to be difficult and
for the Saints to be able to get a first
and second round pick, to hold out for that when
I thought for sure, hey you gotta drop it. You
get a first round pick is kind of what you

(14:46):
what you get for a coach, right, A mid to
late first round pick is sort of what you get
when you trade for a head coach. That's what we've
seen in the past. And to be able to get
a first and they came back a third, but you
getting first and a second, that's pretty good. He was
never gonna play. He was never go to coach for
you again. That's a pretty good move by the Saints.
And did you did you not see the invisible link
though that kept saying see you in hell underneath I

(15:10):
put that you put the flame under it like Jamie
Lee Curtis knives out. Oh, I see the secret message here.
It says a blank you. I'll see you an l
all right, thank you. We got Taysom Hill top five
tight end. Wait, we moving back to quarterback, but he's
ready to be that emergency quarterbacks. Ain't got one of those.
But I'll tell you, man, if this was absolutely what

(15:33):
the Broncos needed to do. This is one of the
best offensive minds in the game of the last one.
But this is why I believe in Sean Payton. I
think you have to recuse yourself over their charges. He's
he's upset because, well, we lose Derek Carr. We now
we get Sean Payton come into the having the flow

(15:54):
of it all every single person. And this is why
you say, well, Sean Payton system in Russell will Wilson. Okay,
Sean Payton. Every single quarterback he has had in New Orleans,
and yes, a lot of it was Drew Brees. But
when Drew Brees would get hurt. Teddy Bridgewater came in,
Taysom Hill came in. Every guy Jamis Winston when he

(16:15):
had to start for a while. Every player who came
in to play for Sean Payton at quarterback was good.
Was Hey, this guy might be really good. And then
it turns out in the end, Okay, maybe they weren't.
Sean Payton has gone. They moved on to a different team.
But Teddy Bridgewater was never better than he was with
Sean Payton in the Saints right. Jamis Winston jump started

(16:38):
his career for about seven weeks until he got hurt
a couple of years ago. Hey, he's not that thirty
thirty a guy anymore. Uh, this is a guy. Look,
he's winning games. He's putting numbers up. It was he
was fourteen touchdowns and three picks till he got her
two years ago, and that really put an end to
his starting days in the NFL. He Taysom Hill, We
thought this guy is gonna be the next great quarter
This guy's a great dual threat quarterback. He's running for

(16:59):
two touchdowns a week. Yes, it was against lower level competition,
but here's a guy that doesn't take a lot of snaps.
Everybody that's played quarterback for Sean Paytinson has done well,
So excuse me. That's what I'm gonna default to, is
that he's gonna be able to take Russell Wilson and
do things that are just fine with him because these
are all guys with different skills, and it's not like

(17:20):
Drew Brees and every other guy was a clone of
Drew Brees. Drew Brees was Drew Brees. Teddy Bridgewater a
little bit more conservative, didn't have a strong arm, still
able to get it done. Tayson Mill different guy, dual
threat quarterbacks to lable to put points on the board.
Jamie's Winston dual threat quarterback slable to put points on
the board. So I'm pretty confident that things are gonna
go really well with Denver next year and he's able

(17:41):
to remake Russell Wilson to a point where he gets
the Broncos back in the playoffs. So I feel great
about Sean Payton because every quarterback, he's got to fix
the offense and it starts the quarterback, and every quarterback's
ever played for him has been really good. Yeah, I
would say one of the things that that flows in
the positivity. UH of the Bronch knows was the fact

(18:01):
that once Jerry Rossberg got there, and this is even
when Hackett was running stuff, he started to see at
least a little bit of a shift in terms of
the wrinkling. The wrinkles that were there, we're getting ironed
out a little in terms of their efficiency problems there,
timing on things, stuff that you look even in Miami

(18:22):
never really got fixed at the end with their backups
right where McDaniel was running, the play clocked down and
they're getting delay of game penalties and stuff. A lot
of the pre snaps stuff For the Broncos towards the
end of the season, particularly once Rossburn took over, UH
really started to fall away. And while Russell Wilson wasn't
the guy we once knew, you at least saw some

(18:44):
glimpses of them. I don't know that he gets restored
all the way there. But there's nobody better on the
marketplace that you would have gotten to come in and
be your coach to find out. Right, we we stipulate
that there is plenty of talent. Tim Patrick will come
back off injury. You've got Judy, You've got Sutton Javonte
Williams from all reports should be based on timing, ready

(19:09):
to at least serve some capacity for you as the
regular season goes on. I've seen the comparisons to J. K.
Dobbins usage by the Ravens this year is maybe a
bit of an example of what you're expecting where if
you can whether it's someone on the roster like Boone,
because it won't be Um. You know Melvin Gordon is gone, Uh,

(19:32):
whether it's Boon or they bring in another running back
via the draft or free agency. Uh, that you you
work to have most of the load handled by somebody
else and that eventually Williams is ready to take on
the full workload. And you saw how the Ravens did
that with Dobbins. And when healthy, you're highly effective in
that run game. So get a little of that, you

(19:53):
get the balance offensively defensively, you know you've got a
roster that that's ready to work and and can be
a top ten defense once again. So yeah, the all
signs point to up right, we look at the Chargers
until we we get more updates on the changes in
the training staff. I'm always gonna have issues, sorry, frostburg

(20:15):
I gotta call it what it is. I have less
reservations about the coaching and the roster has assembled than
their ability to stay on the field. Am I wrong?
Tell me I'm wrong. I'm not wrong. You've got the
Raiders are the Raiders. Uh So unless you know they
find some some magic in the desert there, Uh, it's
it's well, same old Raiders. Uh And because they've got

(20:38):
decisions to make with all their skill position guys from
Jacobs to Waller too two Renfro the only guy there
to definitely put up numbers, Davante Adams. And while we
saw even with him that you could have some lean
games along the way. And then Kansas City is is there?
Even with Tyreek Hill gone? Oh way? There they are

(21:00):
in the super Bowl again, and they don't look like
they're going anywhere anytime soon. So stepping up in class, yeah,
you can't go any worse. It's getting better all the time.
It can't get much worse. As the Beatles saying, look,
I'm gonna wind up being right about my analysis in
two year prediction for the Broncos, right, because what did

(21:22):
I tell you before the season. It's not gonna go great.
It's you're you're you're partying Russell Wilson in with the
first time head coach who's got his own system coming in.
It's not going to go well. I didn't think it
would be the disaster that it was. It was an
absolute disaster that part. I got it right coming off
the first you know, the first game of the year
was a disaster. We're gonna kick a sixty three yard

(21:43):
field well to try to win. Wait well, I was
one of my favorite and you know, we're in our
tenth year here together on on Fox Sports Radio. That
might be a top ten moment for me all times.
Being able to broadcast as that game was winding down,
it was. I mean, it was just a disaster. But
I knew it was gonna be tough that first year
because they would need to figure out what kind of

(22:05):
quarterback is Russell Wilson away from the Seahawks. We have
to tailor the offense around him, and it doesn't work
when you have a guy who's brand new to the gig.
Now you bring in Sean Payton, who's gonna look at
the mistakes the Broncos made last year. There were so
many of them, and he's gonna fix it. I'm telling
you the Broncos are loaded. And I'll give you this big,
bold prediction for next year. And I say this firmly

(22:27):
knowing that the Chiefs are gonna play in the Super
Bowl in a little bit less than two weeks. The
Broncos are going with a f C West next year.
The Broncos are gonna win the They already have a
great defense. Sean Payton. There's a reason why they gave
up a first round pick in a second round pick
to get him. He will fix the offense. Watch Denver
wins the AD and I really I'm saying it watching

(22:49):
the Chiefs are gonna go to the super Bowl. They're
gonna go play in ten days, and it's awesome. The
Chiefs are really good. Denver wins the division next year.
All right, let's look at the odds. Let's see installed
at forty to one odds to win Super Bowl fifty
eight following the patent trade, now at twenty eight to
one to win it all. I don't have division UH

(23:11):
stats and and odds just yet, but we'll work to
get those. Might have to play some future bets here
in UH in short order Smiths, so we can have
those tickets at the ready, uh to cash in on
some of the hot prognosticating uh that you've done along
the way. See if that continues once there's you know,
much more than your name and reputation attached, something more valuable,

(23:34):
like currency, what kind of and t J like R. E.
M Saying there were strange currencies in what we're having.
What's your normal? What's your normal? Web bet unit? Well,
four big macks, whatever that cost is, that's we just
call unit all. That's four big macduchess unit, four big macs.

(23:56):
For most folks, a unit is ten bucks, twenty bucks,
a hundred bucks, whatever, enough you it's big max, yeah,
four big Max. No, but that's the impact that he's
gonna have because the team is all you. People don't
understand how talented this It just went no listen, Rick
Brunson left. I'm done with Killen bruns now moving on here.
The Knicks are dead to him now, so he tonight

(24:18):
I need a break for the No. Julius Randall and
Tom Tibodeau lost to the Lakers, and Nicks didn't lose.
The Knicks were great, but Julius Randall and Tom Tibodeaux lost.
Those are the guys that lost? They like you, guys
lost when it went bad. You cut these guys they lost?
Can I ask you one last question about the Broncos
before them? What did you make of the fun and excitement?

(24:42):
And hey, Damiko, Ryan's that last minute report that the
Broncos quickly had to point out. No, no, that never happened. Chef, Yeah,
get him in the cage. Did you happen? I promise
you this was our guy. We were done with Damiko
Ryan ce match. Let's get it on Twitter and how

(25:02):

you to download music, like an unbelievable, unheard of right, don't.

(25:28):
I was gonna say, we'll go with music. I got
fire racks. I'm downloading songs like that. Man, it's awesome.
He went with the music angle brought to Okay, Yes, yes,

One story that we talked about Tom Brady and and
the situation with the forty Niners last night, and that
I don't know how great a fit he is in
that Niners offense because against the elite defenses, he's a
statue in the pocket and they have a lot of weapons,

(26:11):
but he's got to be able to have time to
throw the ball down the field. I don't know how
well he's gonna fit there. I think there are other
fits for him with what he likes to do offensively.
But that being said, it kind of feels like Brady
to the Niners is just gonna happen, right like, you know,
like there there's certain stories that we do where you go,

(26:31):
you know what, it just seems like there's so much
positive momentum in that direction right where you know, we're
not gonna you're not gonna stop it. There's nothing else
that's gonna but the last couple of days where whether
it's in in the media or you're hearing uh teammates
or former teammates talk about it, they're connecting the dots.
It just seems like it makes sense, and that story

(26:52):
has its own momentum. That Brady to the Niners, which
is something I'm sure they talked about a couple of
years ago. It didn't happen, And now the Miners are
in a bit of a spot because Brock Purdy is
not going to be healthy until likely August, which means
Trey Lance is gonna get all the reps all the
way through the preseason and can you trust the tray
Lance is gonna be good. They want to see him
on the field, But him getting hurt last year was

(27:15):
you go from, hey, he's our future too. He's a
guy that's in the mix, right because that's where officially
you are. On Trey Lance, I thought, hey, listen, why
are you why are you stopping progress by putting by
bringing in Tom Brady when you have Purdy and Trey
Lance and you want to see both of these guys play.
But it doesn't matter because that it's like, you know,
trying to trying to stop water from breaking on on
on the on the on the on the shore. It

(27:36):
just feels like there's enough desire for this. You know,
that's where Brady really wants to go. You know that
that would be a big thing that would help the
forty Niners being able to say, hey, we have Brady
and then we can figure things out with Purdy and
or Trey Lance. I just feel like that's just gonna
happen now. While while Vegas is probably the best landing

(27:57):
point for him from from a football person, active uh,
I feel like there's just too much happening right now
and everything is going in that direction, and they're gonna
wind up signing Tom Brady. You'll take a lower level deal,
They'll give them money they would they would normally have
given a Garoppolo this year because they're not really paying
they're not paying pretty, they're not paying Lance anymore than
his rookie deal. And it's just like kind of a fad.

(28:19):
A complex is a phrase we used on the show
a lot, that that that's where it's gonna be. Like,
I don't know if it's gonna be by March. I
don't know if it's gonna be before free agency. I
assume it would be before free agency. But Braid to
the Niners sort of feels like it's it's a done
deal without it being done right like that that it's done.
We're just waiting for the official word. Current betting odds
the Niners a slight favorite over the Raiders. We heard

(28:43):
Leonard four Nette put out and posture uh positive the
theory that you know, the Raiders were the likely landing spot.
And I would say from a personnel and team perspective,
you know, one thing to kind of add to the
wrinkle of the forty Niners is Trent Williams was talking
about out how much big a pain in the acid
is getting ready and getting through a season and that

(29:04):
retirement might be on the table for him. That's a
that's a little thing that that it becomes a very
large thing once we get a little further away and
get into the offseason. If he's thinking legitimately of waving goodbye, uh,
because settling your offensive line for the notoriously immobile Tom
Brady becomes a much bigger issue since that's why he's

(29:27):
would be leaving Tampa Bay, primarily because of the personnel
problems and the inability to protect and run the football there.
But for the forty nine is and we we talked
about it a lot yesterday folks can find the podcast
for the full analysis and back and forth. I'll do
the cliff notes version here. Uh, that I bought in

(29:49):
a bit more with what you have there. Of course,
the caveat and the thing being there is Trent Williams
would be part of that offensive line because that is
not something easy to replace. But you look at the
us to the personnel, and if you're gonna do a
lot of screens, get the receivers involved his runners, and
assuming McCaffrey's upright and ready to go alongside Eli Mitchell,

(30:12):
then you've got enough in your offensive weaponry to make
life a little easier to where Brady doesn't have to
be on the run a bunch. Something we talked about
last week was after Ran Carthon got hired by the Titans,
that Trey Lance put up the fingers crossed emojis to
that may not mean a hell of a lot in
the grand scheme, but the potential is there in terms

(30:35):
of trades depending on what you'd be able to call
back for him, because you know, if you were to
rank him as with the incoming quarterback class based on
potential and what you remember from that single season so
long ago, Uh, he ranks pretty highly. So maybe a
project that Carthon knowing him in San Francisco, would say,

(30:59):
all right, if we can get this guy, we we
can make him a star in Tennessee. So maybe that
alleviates some of that log jam at the quarterback position.
And then you have smiling Jimmy Garoppolo who doesn't have
a new home yet just yet. Still it's because that's
the domino that has to fall on all of this. Yeah,

(31:19):
but he but that you talk about a fatal complete Jimmy,
Jimmy g has gone at this point, he's gone. You're
gonna bring it back up. You're gonna bring it back.
You're gonna bring back a quarterback. Maybe this Jimmy garopp Below.
You know what he does well, he can't stay healthy, right,
he can't stay on the field, So why would you
you know the definition of insanity. I really like him,

(31:42):
and he wins with me. When he's available, Jimmy, when
he's available, we're gonna talk about it. Jimmy Garoppolo, right now,
get a stand of the guy. Can we get some
accordion music? And and oh he really Italian? Come on,
we got to talk about missing in the world. Up
and then we're gonna talk about Jimmy Garoppolo. Okay, but

(32:04):
I got that. That's just the way. That's the way.
It's part of the accent, you know you because this
is it should be a Philadelphia accent more because they're
in the super Bowl again. But trying to tell you, hey,
Jimmy Garoppolo is a Socks fan, you leave him alone. Uh,
i'se for you when it comes to quarterbacks, right because
every yeah, the White Sox are gonna trade for train lands. Uh.

(32:28):
The this is how not only if Brady feeling like
he's going to San Francisco's a fat accompany, but look
at the situation where they are. They're not paying for
a quarterback, right because you know, Brady's not gonna walk
in saying I need thirty I need fifty million dollar.
He's gonna take one of those twenty million dollar deals

(32:48):
and that's gonna be it. That was the money you
would have had earmarked for Jimmy Garoppolo if you were
bringing him back. Now, yeah, you'd love to be able
to save some money and grab some draft picks, but
you don't know how good it Brady is gonna be it.
Maybe one and done for Brady. He wins again, he
might walk away. Now. Maybe Brady is really really good.
I'm willing to believe he has a bounce back kind

(33:08):
of year again, I don't know that he fits and
it may wind up being kind of ugly in San
Francisco when they play a lade defenses because he's kind
of stuck in the pocket now and he can't keep
plays alive like he used to. Ye, and he's in
the NFC. There are many of them, but that's yeah, yeah,
that's true. But I bet you the Niners keep everybody
not Garoppolo that they go into next year and it's Brady.

(33:32):
Brady is the starter, and they have Purdy, who is
gonna need time to get healthy because because the u
c L injury, and Trey Lance, and they're gonna they're
gonna hedge their bets because you can have all three guys,
because you brock Purdy, You're not gonna make no money us. Yeah,
these guys you're and the cap goes up seventeen million bucks. Yeah,

(33:52):
you you would love to be able to say, all right,
if we can move a guy and and and and
and replace him, But Trey Lance is still on a
rookie deal. Even though it's a it's a high first
round rookie deal. Um, you still eventually, at some point
hopefully want to see what he can do. And you
never know if he has to get pressed into service
to play next year. So if you go in with
Brady and Purdy and Lance and everybody knowing full well

(34:15):
that okay, next year, Next year for Purdy is probably
gonna be very difficult because you know, you don't know
when he's gonna really be healthy because it's a six
month three have for him, regardless whether or not he
has surgery or not. So you're talking about taking him
into the beginning of the regular season. So that's gonna
be done for Purdy and Lance coming back from injury. Okay,
but can you trust and it's hi Brady comes in,

(34:35):
is are you gonna trade Lance? You're gonna get anything
for him? You really not need You get a second
round pick, maybe maybe maybe maybe a third round pick.
But there's a lot of quarterbacks out there. You've got
five or six guys that people wanting the draft, and
you've got five or six guys out there in free agency.
There's not that many quarterback seats there's not that curious
where where he would rank against the guys that are

(34:56):
coming in the year. Last year would have been the
year going out, Hey, let's go, this is where because
only it's Russell Wilson is changing teams and that's it.
That was the year to goo to move Trey Lands,
You're gonna but ros they just walk away. I mean,
you know he's doing that thing again. It's tough. I mean,
I I bet you the Niners keep all three quarterbacks
because they want to be set for four and beyond.

(35:18):
And I would say Brady doesn't work. That's what we
want beyond the quarterback. Though, They've got one personnel move
that has to happen. They need to sell Gronkowski to
come back. Think about him and Kittle is the greatest
tag team ever assembled on a PHO. Are you kidding
these guys? They would just come on and if you will,
like they'd be laughing on the field. Do you guys
want to come to the huddle now? We don't need

(35:40):
the huddle? Man, We're all what what did Gronk say?
What do you do an interview with like Jimmy Fallon
saying partying made it easier for me to be a
star in the NFL. Duncan eyes, I would say partying
made it easier for me to be a star in
the NFL. That's every coach in every sport going, Oh,
don't listen to Gronkowski. Don't listen to Gronkowski. You need

(36:02):
to not party and just be all about sports to
be able to succeed, you can't party, man. But look,
if that happens, great, Um, But for Brady to come in,
I mean I really see that. I really see that.
As we're gonna go all three guys and you could
always make a move you have to. But if you
go with Brady and Purty, let's just let's say you

(36:22):
trade trade Lance. You can't trade Party because he's got
no no value with the injury, and you definitely want
to hold on him and see how special he is.
So Lance is the guy you trade. Um, you need
to replace your third trade because if something happens with Brady,
you're gonna have to go to that guy. Would you
rather go to trade Lance orud you rather go to
somebody knew you're bringing in? Would you rather bring in C. J.
Beethorn again? You know and have to Iowa proud Iowa

(36:46):
product alone. They're gonna wind up keeping all three of
those guys, and that's people are gonna say, this could
be the strongest quarterback room in the history of the game.
Tom Brady and Brock Purty and Trade Lance. You've never
had a quarterback room that strong. And I don't know
why I'm sounding like Dan Dierdorf when I say it. Jim,
you didn't say his name correctly. It's Brock pretty Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim.

(37:10):
This is so exciting, Jim. I know, Jim, there's a
lot of quote. You think there's room for me there, Jim,
there's room for me, Jim, Jim, this is so exciting. Jim.
Remember you can get out there a couple of years
ago where there was the hope that Romo would show
back up on a sideline in Dallas or somewhere else.
Right now, CBS is hoping. Hey, Tony, I just want

(37:31):
to ask, hey, listen, a great season as always, just um,
any chance you go back to the NFL, because we
look we'd hate to lose you, but if it happened,
we would understand. Oh no, no one's calling. But do
you think what will your age is he gonna be
calling people that song. I know there's a lot of
quarterbacks about no you know, Okay, all right, okay, alright.
Just just wanted to ask, hey, guys, that's a bust.

(37:51):
ROBO's not going back to the NFL. We gotta keep
paying the gun. What do you got for us? Remember
that one time that weren't allowed to go to Vegas
with Romo? Yeah? Yeah, I think about how long and
short the time has passed between that and now where

(38:13):
we are with gambling in the NFL. Tony Romo joined
Twitter just to promote fantasy football, and then he could
he couldn't do it, And now it's like, yeah, here's
the line, here's the in game wage right now we're
having for Jim Jim, Jim, did you bet the over
