(00:48):
be well. NBA right now, Clippers lead the Suns sixty
one fifty seven, two and a half to go before halftime,
So okay, still a ways to go as the Clippers
try to stay eve off elimination. Meanwhile, the Nuggets have
taken the lead over the t Wolves eighty four eighty three,
this one with about nine and a half to go

(01:09):
in the fourth quarter. So far, for Denver, it is
Murray with the big night thirty three points and four
Assistan Nicola Jokic eighteen twelve and ten already with a
triple double butt Minnesota not going gentle into that good night,
trying to extend this series one more day.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
They got a lot of fighting them. Then it's just
a question of can you finish a job right?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
When you say fighting them, do you mean Rudy Gobert
and his teammates or do you mean fighting well?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
But then Rudy, you Heardy Gobert tried to go after
the officials and Anderson gotten away. So I mean that
was being a good teammate, whatever it was, whatever that
animosity was.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
They cleared the air. But you have told you say
Timberwolves have a lot of fight in them. You have
to clarify exactly what you're talking about. Choose your own adventure.
Do you want it to be fight as in, Hey,
this is a team rallying to try to live to
see another game and put forth another effort, or are

(02:07):
they fighting because they're going down swinging? Literally? Did Rudy
got for you? Hey, Karl Anthony Towns, you push Jimmy
Bucketts out of here? How can we be if you
were able to push him out. Oh, now we're fighting.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
It's a good point five guys in double figures for
the Timberwolves, including Edwards eleven to twenty three from the field,
he's got twenty four points. Oh for five from three
point range. You mentioned Murray with his thirty three points.
He's looking for another forty forty piece. I mean we're
already seeing the list of all the guys. He's got
more forty point games in the playoffs than in history.

(02:40):

of days, one that you and Frostburg and Ticsher couldn't
be here for last night.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Aaron Rodgers. They didn't give me the memo that it
was gonna happen. I didn't have the script that it
was happening on the Monday of draft week. Did I
think it could happen today? Sure? Did I think it
could happen tomorrow? Fine? Did it happen? Could it happen
on the first day of the draft? Sure?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I had scheduled the day off. And I don't really
care about Aaron Rodgers enough if you give up a
day off.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
If you looked at Arian Foster's script, you would have
seen that it said he didn't give me a copying
You gotta go see you didn't give me a company.
You could go to a public library now and check
it out, really and read it at the library, and
then you turn it back in because.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
There are rumors that there is an accompanying NBA script
that you can find along the way time.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's a tougher one though, and it says the Lakers
are back twenty three as the title she a you
damn right they are like But Aaron Rodgers the day after,
he puts out a big heartfelt left saying goodbye to
Green Bay? Or was it really hard putting out a
message on Instagram saying this is not the end for us.

(04:08):
I will see you again, Green Bay. You'll always have
my heart and blank you to all you guys in
the front office. I'm a Jet now, okay.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Well, then he starts singing I'll see you in my
dreams on a ukulele, like when they did the Harrison tribute.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
When he says I'll see you again, Green Bay, it's
because you're gonna retire my jersey and I'm gonna get
to come back and wave. And everybody who's gonna be
long fired in the front office because you push me
out the door and I go win the Super Bowl
with the Jets, They're gonna have to watch me come
back and wave, just like they did with Farm, Just
like they're gonna do it Jordan Love in fifteen years.
They're gonna have to watch me do it. A big

(04:42):
heartfelt goodbye from Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay. Are you
gonna do a dramatic reading of any of it? No,
a little bit of it. I mean, I'll just read
you the highlights of it, in which in some things
he said, I'm especially grateful for the last thirteen years
with Mike McCarthy, the last four with Matt Lafleur, though
not really. We know exactly what he did and he
was responsible for us losing in the playoffs, all right,

(05:03):
not that, not that last part.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
You know, you could have kept the kicker on the
sideline and said we're not giving the ball back, Tom
Brady when you were down eight.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I read parts of Aaron Rodgers Goodbye, and you tell
me which part is made up by me. To the fans,
thank you. You made every run out of the tunnel special,
every home game magical, and it was my honor to
be your QB. And now I'm going to go make
you eat it as quarterback of the Jets. I think
the last couple of words there were implied but not

(05:34):
actually inverse. Okay. To my teammates, I love you all.
I am thankful for the moments on and off the field.
Thanks for believing in me and having my back always.
Except for the ones who stabbed me in it. You
know who you are. I'll see you again.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Well, those are the guys that fell out of the
inner circle, so you know, the guys that would have
stabbed him in the back. So we could look around
the room and find guys that played for the Packers
at any point and are now part of the media,
local or national.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Giving thanks to everybody. Hey, thanks to Bob Harlan, russ Ball,
Mark Murphy, and Brian Guda Kunst parentheses, Haha, not really
fooled you for your stewardship of the organization. He did,
he did, Thank god he did. I did not see
that coming. That parenthetical was pretty good. I really thought
you were gonna go into your for Bonnie Bernstein, the

(06:26):
way the way your taden flow through it. I really
thought you were going n C double a title. Thank
you to all my guys in the equipment room for
Red t Bone Oday, keV, Brian, Andy Grueber, all my
dear friends in the training room over the years, Nate Flee,
Doc Mackenzie, Doctor Gray Tep and Couz, the legendary Adam
Corsen and his incredible staff, Dougie Crabby and Scottie ty Shirt.

(06:49):
My one shining moment any time here, any time I
heard the horns in my head, the head the entire time.
There's Tom, There's Nate, there's Sarah and pr little pee
weee over there. He actually thank the Rock. I don't
know if that's the real rock.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
They have a guy on staff called the Rock. Is
he the strength guy? Is he the guy that runs
the ice tub? I mean, what's the deal. Maybe he's
talking about the jail Mike. Thanks to Wayne Sue, thanks
to That's.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Where he belongs for signing with the Jets, Little Nick Cage,
and thanks to Big Rob for your work with our
guys over the years. I'm Aaron Rodgers. I'm going to
another team in Green, and I'm gonna throw for fifty
touchdowns to me the MVP again. Good luck with Jordan Love.
This is number twelve out see even that, even that,
I nail it, even that, I nail it every damn night.

(07:41):
So look after this happened, two big things I want
to get across here on Aaron Rodgers with the day after. Boy,
he's a Jet. It's happening. It's here. Number One, all
the Jets gave up too much. We got into this
a lot last night, obviously, but seeing the doubling down,
I want to say two things about the draft. Number One,

(08:01):
it doesn't matter what the Jets give up if they win.
With Aaron Rodgers, it's worth it. It doesn't matter anything
a team gives up. If they win, it's worth it.
If they don't, it's not worth it. The Jets could
have given up a fifth round pick. This year. That's it,
and bringing Aaron Rodgers. We're paying them this money. We're
to try it for a couple of years. If it
doesn't work, what are people gonna say. They're gonna say, oh, well, hey,

(08:25):
that just didn't work out. No, it's gonna be Nope,
didn't work. Didn't work. Bad move by the Jets. They
took a Super Bowl ready team. They brought in a
guy who was supposed to be good, and they gave
away two years of Sauce Gardener before its free agency
and Brest Hall and Garrett Wilson and all these guys.
It doesn't matter what the Jets gave up. Now, I'm
glad they didn't give up four or five first round picks,
but still they're swapping a first round pick this year,

(08:46):
a second round pick, and a conditional second that could
be a first round pick. Right now. There's no first
round picks that are involved in this trade. There are
no first round picks, no first round picks. It doesn't
matter what they give up. If the Jets win the
Super Bowl, they could trade away there drafts the next
five years wouldn't have mattered. They could give up a
fifth to fourth round pick. It wouldn't have mattered. If
they win, it's any trade. If you win, it's worth it.

(09:09):
If not, it doesn't matter. We talked about Mitchell Trubisky,
we talked about Trey Lancera. If you guys win, it's
worth it. If it's not, it's not. The the pieces
in the price you give up is irrelevant.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Well, that's the argument made all along, And going back
to twenty seventeen, the infamous Trubisky draft, the Saints made
out they ended up with Alvin Kamara, the way things
got conferred and traded around and what have you. The
forty nine ers best pick coming out of that was
there was Warner later on. But as a GM, as
a staff you and as a fan, right, you want

(09:44):
your team going all in, committing saying that's my guy,
and if they get it wrong, then they'll pay the
price them with their jobs. You with soar vocal cords
from booing vociferously and lustily.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
No voice because I couldn't believe what they did.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
All right, So you go back to twenty seventeen, obviously, yeah,
everybody would love to go back and do a do
over about Patrick Mahomes. That's not where everybody was on
Draft night and leading up to draft that it was
never about Patrick Mahomes suddenly leaping up to the top
of the draft. Was he talked about, Sure, but it
wasn't a oh, that's the guy you gotta go get.

(10:20):
And then when the Bears didn't nuhu, No, it was
John Lynch in the war room laughing at the Bears. Ah,
we pleased him. Oh did you really not really?

Speaker 1 (10:29):
But in the moment, yeah, take your victory lap, go ahead,
But you mentioned Trey Lance. You go and you trade up,
and he gets injured a couple of times, and your
team is good, which means you had other guys that
were able to step into the role. Brock Purty. Now
we're talking about this S two test and what it
means and what it doesn't and this year, all of
a sudden it's taking on great weight. Well, if it

(10:50):
had great weight, then perty shouldn't have been mister irrelevant
last year?

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Now should he have? But that's a story for another time.
In this case, it's we watched the Rams, right, we
were sitting talking about it earlier on. It's like, you
take your shot and if it works, everybody's happy, because
even if you suck for the next decade. You're a
Jets fan, I'm a Bears fan. You'll take that one
shining moment in a decade, in two decades, Sure, in

(11:17):
four decades, Sure, five decades, whatever the gas may be.
Go back to the Marlins. You think people are mad
because of the two titles they have over in Major
League Baseball. No, it just shows you make a run
for it, and then you realize financially this is not sustainable.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Tear it back down and then try to build to that.
And when you have the opportunity and it goes to
Osian's eleven, right, when you got that chance for that
perfect hand, you make your hit, you play it big
and take the casinos. So for Aaron Rodgers for the Jets,
and if it works out and it becomes a first
round pick, who cares. If he did his job, that's

(11:54):
going to be a pick in the low twenties, right,
it's going to be gone. So it really it's just
us the thirty second pick. It'll be the third because
the Super Bowl champions pick thirty second, you get it
will get my thirty second.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I was just talking about actually just getting to the
playoffs thirty two because we also have to keep him
healthy for seventeen weeks too.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
For sixty five percent of the snaps is what the
packers are hoping for. It's getting here sixty three week thirteen. Baby,
let's go. It does, but that's just it.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
If it plays out properly here, confer as many picks
as you want, you got your victories.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Rams. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
A lot of handwringing here locally because the show is
today and it doesn't look great and Matthew Stafford backy
otomies or whatever else. They're not taking that super Bowl
one then one, then one doesn't matter. You dine out
on that for twenty years.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
We won the Super Bowl. If they win, No price
isn't worth it, right. No one's saying shouldn't have done it,
shouldn't have done. Now, Look what do you do? Yeah,
you're in trouble now, but you won't to believe in
Super Bowl. Man, That's kind of how it works. It's
kind of how goes you.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Gretzky Man, Man, you miss one hundred percent of the shots.
You don't take right, you got a shot on goal
and soccer we're watching some hockey here. There were five
goals in the first period. You don't see that chaos ensus.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
I feel like Billy being in Moneyball. His defense does
not matter. What the Jets gave up does not matter.
How could you be not be romantic about baseball? Well,
they're moving to Vegas. He's a Mets fan, kind of
a tough one, you know. Just because we lost the night,
it doesn't matter. Because the Jets got Aaron Rodgers. That's
all that matters tonight. Mets don't matter tonight. Not even
the Knicks matter tonight. The Jets got Aaron Rodgers. I

(13:28):
shouldn't say that. Oh yeah, the whole world heard it.
Mike Man, Okay, there's no walk in that one. Rocks. Well, listen, listen.
This is Aaron Rodgers. His trade shook the football world
finally up and it's the Jets. Yeah, school, we got
room for you know.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I was on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride yesterday
and it shook a lot, scariest ride ever where I felt,
you know, like maybe something else was going on with
that Aaron Rodgers. I felt perfectly safe. I wouldn't have
felt so safe if I was near that dragging the
night before. Okay, that ended up badly, hmm charge dragging, yes,
but we had a great time. Yeah, but but everything

(14:09):
was shaking, so maybe it was, you know, the aftershocks
of the Aaron Rodgers deal that I was dealing with.

(14:38):
my goodness, these traffics, these traffics, one thing you absolutely
have to remember before you start getting too out of control. Plus,
how about this, it's been a lot about the Jets
the last couple of days. How about I tell you
what I love about what the packers have done in
the last couple of days. How about packers, the packers?
What I love you? Try and zag when everybody's zigging.

mid A drama in the National Basketball Association. Early in

(15:47):
the third Clippers lead Phoenix seventy one sixty one. So yeah,
a lot of offense in this one. Meanwhile, about three
and a half to go in the fourth quarter, nobody
told the t Wolves that they were supposed to go home.
Denver trying to cling to a four point lead over
Minnesota one hundred to ninety six. Again, about three and
a half minutes left to go in this one, the

(16:09):
Nuggets looking for the closer, the timber Wolves down three zip,
three to one. I give them a lot of They
could have just shown up here and said, okay, we're
punching the time clock. We're going to kan Kun. That's it. One, two, three,
kan Koon. And here they are given Denver all they
can handle here in a game where they didn't know
they were supposed to go home.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Like we said, a lot of big fight in this squad,
and we actually almost had a couple of dust ups
here in the last two minutes. So but not with
Rudy Gobert and the teammates lot sure, Karl, Anthony Towns
and everybody else. How about that a lot of run ins.
He's got twenty four and ten on the night. You
look at Edwards as it is still at twenty four,
hasn't scored in a minute, Murray at thirty five, Jokich

(16:46):
up to twenty thirteen and eleven, and Michael Porter.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
And Junior just hit a huge shot to make it
a four point game. So I'll have more on the
NBA as it continues on again. Still three and a
half to go there in Denver and almost the entire
second half to go in Phoenix. Nobody's playing defense. One
more bit about the Aaron Rodgers trade and the Jets. Oh,
they give you up too much before you get to
something that I love. What the Packers have done, right, Well,

(17:10):
what do you hear from everybody? Oh, the Packers fleece
the Jets. Okay, who did they get? Tell me who
did the Packers get that so good? Well? What do
you mean, Well, tell me they fleece the Jets. Who
do the Packers get that so good? Everybody couldn't wait
to get on social Oh they fleeced. Who did they get? All?
They got draft picks? Oh?

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Right?

Speaker 1 (17:30):
And the thing about the draft is you have to
get it right. So it's not so much yeah, you
gotta play. It's oh, you got a draft pick that
you have to get right. And the guy could be
a star. The guy could be a bust and be
out of the league in a year and a half
and you don't know, or it could be somewhere in
the middle of where someone plays for a couple of
years and they wind up going somewhere else in free agency.

(17:51):
The draft is a crap shoot. Yes, the Jets swap
picks at thirteen and fifteen, big deal. They give him
a second round pick, Yes, we thought so, a second
round pick. Conditionally, they could be a first round pick conditionally.
First of all, that's not fleecing, that's just that's just
being ridiculous. Secondly, who knows right If it works, As
you said a few minutes ago, the pick is gonna
be in the high twenties. Drafts is a crapshoot. At

(18:13):
that point, you can sit back and say, oh, we
had a great evaluation of talent and in the end
you're guessing right to go moneyball again. Billy Bean says,
you come into somebody's house and you tell them you
know about them and who they are, and you don't
you don't. You make the best guess you can, the
best way to evaluate talent, and hopefully it works, but
sometimes it doesn't. The Packers haven't gotten anybody that makes

(18:35):
me think, oh wow, the Jets gave up where it's
draft picks and not only do you have to get them,
but then you gotta nail them. So yeah, there's another
big step for Green Bay if you're gonna say they
fleece the Jets. And honestly, the Jets kind of suck
picking quarterbacks anyway, So yeah, I'm okay with trading picks
getting a quarterback then be a pick a quarterback in
fifty years, So okay, I'm okay with that.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Well, they had Pennington before his shoulder and but the point,
your point to take it further is it's not that
you got a bevy picks, so you can't even go
shotgun approach of one of these four guys that we
got because we got a bevy of second, third, fourth
round picks or whatever is going to work out and

(19:19):
become a lynchpin to say the heart of our defense,
or we're going to find an offensive lineman that we're
set it and forget it Ronco style for a decade.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
You don't have that, Like it's a minimal number of
picks being exchanged. So your precision Guda Kunston company, you've
got to be dead on to make this really work
because otherwise your only big, big win out of this
is being able to clap your hands Vegas blackjack dealers
style and saying we got rid of Aaron Rodgers, to

(19:51):
which boy, you still have salary cab in deligations to
all of it. So you only win so so hard
in this trade. Centiari.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
But I guess because it wasn't just a one for one,
everybody thinks they got more than they did well.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
And because it's the Jets. If this was the I
mean it, if this was the Patriots, if this was
the Steelers, if this was the forty nine Ers, you
would see the reaction from experts and pundits and fans
be what an unbelievable move. Oh my god, they were
able to snag Aaron Rodgers out from under the Green
Bay Packers. What a perfect pick for Belichick. That's exactly

(20:31):
what the reaction would be. There's nothing you give up. Look,
they needed a quarterback. Look what they got. But because
the Jets, and it's easy to make fun of them
and say, ah, the Jets, they steak. They've been staking
for forty years, fifty years now, they're easy to laugh at.
People wanted, hey, I can make fun of the Jets.
But if it was the other way around, it could
be the exact same trait that Belichick would make. It
would be Oh, the genius Belichick, he's back at it again.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Well, I think you've got the unique set of circumstances.
Not only is it the Jets, but it's also a
guy that a many people in and out of the
league have a liking problem with. They don't oh yeah,
So the fact that it's Aaron Rodgers, no matter what
they gave up, was probably gonna come under great scrutiny. Right,
You literally could have sent a bag of balls and

(21:15):
they might have said, you know what that was. Those
were the top flight, best reviewed balls that we've ever
purchased for use for our kicking game, and you sent
them away for this guy. The fact that he's near forty,
the last couple of years threatening of retirement, even this
the I was ninety percent retired, and then I heard

(21:35):
talk that they were talking that I was done and
blah blah blah they didn't love me, even though they
said to the world they did. And then all of
a sudden, he's coming back with a vengeance.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
All of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
I think if you got honest evaluations, you know, the
old lie detector or truth serum or whatever you want
to do, go Marvel Universe. Let's go truth serum, because
that makes it more fun. Is that they're gonna tell
you I don't like that guy, I didn't like playing
against him. Yeah, obviously that's that's fine and good. But
the how things have handled because they become data points

(22:08):
for how people reaching some modicum of success can start
to handle their careers.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Right.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
You saw it with Ben Roethlisberger and waffling about retirement
and how how old did that act grow? Except for
everybody but Ed Bouchett. Everybody else was done with Ben
Roethlisberger's like, all right, either player, don't and if you're
going to play, then take the off season. Yes you're
with your family, but come in in shape and ready
to play as best you can. Right. The body's deteriorating,

(22:37):
but give yourself the best chance. With Aaron Rodgers, the
ayahuasca stuff, the Miles Teller retreat, the dark room.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
That wasn't a retreat. That was just weird. We're we're
in Hawaii, having there was no retreat for that. Well,
I mean they were together, Miles and the yeah, the
term retreat on a as vacation kind of interchangeable with that,
As you say, retreating, it's it's a dark room and
we're sitting there. But well we can do that too, Miles. Miles.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
You there, Miles, you still have the mustache, Miles, your
top gun. Maverick co star is now embroiled in a
big scandal in his love life.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
How does that make you feel, Miles, Miles, Miles, you
in this room, answer me. Don't maybe turn the.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Light on now, you just start throwing footballs as hard
as you can't to wait for the groan.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
I got you. I found you got to get hide.
Not even the Knicks mattered. Oh boy, uh Twitter out
Mount of Fresco, Mike, It's swollen Dome. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Michael. That's don't matter. Not
even the Knicks mattered. All that matters is Aaron Rodgers.
I just remember you said they don't matter. Okay, yeah,
but this is tonight. Now that drop loses, it's it's

(23:48):
he's really you're gonna want the Knicks back, dude, you're
gonna want them back. Just stop. We delete things out
of our computer, like the night they happened that I
was I was looking for. I dropped this designs. You
can't even find the Lebron James game winning basket for
the last I guarantee you that was deleted. I got
a DVR at my house. What does it matter. I

(24:10):
can find it on Twitter any time I want you.
I'll tell you what I like it.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
I like it. Hey, guys, yeah what you got Frostburg.
The Lakers are bad? Now, speaking of what I like,
we mentioned this and I want to tell you one
thing because I said say, hey, what do I like
about what the Packers have done? Yes, getting out from
under Aaron Rodgers, did they get a little bit more
than probably they could have? Yeah, but still, you know,

(24:36):
getting Aaron Rodgers and trading Aaron rodd you're going to
get a little bit back for him. But that's not
really I like the fact they moved on. They were
able to get on. They made the decision to move on,
and they were able to do it and it's not
going to hang over them. But the one thing I
like now because they really have to be right about
Jordan Love. Because if Guda, Kunsten and Murphy's retiring soon,
but if they're not right about Jordan Love, everybody's getting fired.

(25:00):
It's new coaches, it's new everything coming in. Because you
gotta be right about Jay, about Jalen Hurts. You got
to be right about Jordan Love. So that's a big thing.
But what I like what they've done is they have
set him up for success because the last couple of years,
you can tell the Packers have been building their team
for the inevitability of Jordan Love taking over. Right with

(25:22):
Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, what are you normally building?
We need guys that you can throw to to throw
the ball downfield. Running backs that are kind of necessary evils.
A big offensive line. We got to be able to
score a lot of points. We got to keep this quarterback,
you know, keep this machine humming. But what have they
been doing the last couple of years? Did they sign
any wide receivers that were really good? No, they let

(25:44):
their best wide receiver go. What do they make sure
to do? We're bringing back our two horses at running
back in when you're talking about Jones and aj Dillon.
We got to make sure we run the football well.
We got to make sure that that our quarterback is
protected well, and we play really good defense, because that's
how we're going. That's the next iteration of the Packers.
And we're gonna keep the pressure off of Jordan Love

(26:04):
a little bit. Jordan Love's not a guy that's gonna
go in passing championships. He's not gonna throw for thirty
five touchdowns a year. He's someone that if he throws
for twenty five touchdowns, runs for ten. Hey, that's you
want from the guy, right, That's gonna be what he does.
He has a much different skill set than Aaron Rodgers. Does,
and they've been building that team according to it. Instead
of let's help Aaron Rodgers with weapons on the outside,

(26:28):
it's let's help Jordan Love with a sledgehammer running game
and a really good defense and not spend a lot
of money at wide receiver. So no one wants to
succeed a legend, and he didn't want to do that,
but it worked with Aaron Rodgers going in for Brett
Favre and now they have putt Jordan Love in a
position where this can work for him. This is not
We're gonna put you into an offense where we expect

(26:49):
you a lot at the scoreboard. No, you're in an
offense now that has been slowly designed towards you for
the last couple of years, and you're staying in the system.
No new coaches, no new terminology, you know anything else.
You are in the assistant Now. They have set up
Jordan Love to succeed and I love that. Now.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
One of the big things we talked about last offseason
as Rogers was away from the squad was the fact
that for Jordan Love, he got to run the first team. Right,
you got all those reps with the new guys, So
Watson Dobbs and the other receivers they did bring in,
even though Lazard is gone and DeVante Adams before him,

(27:23):
that you've had a lot of reps, You've had a
lot of practice time for the building of at least
the bedrock of some level of continuity and consistency in
a relationship. Joe Barry and his defense, they need to
be better. They were underwhelming last year. There was a
lot expected to them, and the way they were built
was that Aaron Rodgers would be good enough to get

(27:44):
them over and you saw it down the stretch. Better
relationship with Watson and they started to make plays and
they were They had a puncher's chance in the final weeks,
only to fall short. But the defense early on did
not do the job that they were brought in to do.
So he gets another opportunity here, So expect them to
make a little bit of a jump. And I'll be curious.

(28:06):
They need some help on the offensive line. They're aging
Bachtiari's there, but how much is he there at this point?
Right once he got left in the tank as well
as the rest of that O line. Trying to make
sure that you keep continuity there on your front. Five
add another weapony be at a tight end. Maybe you're
looking at Mayor as a guy that you try to

(28:27):
bring in or or someone like that to help bolster
that receiving corps. But I'm curious to see how it
flows in the NFC North. Not exactly any Juggernauts running
away and hiding, right. The Vikings had a great year.
Everything that went wrong in twenty one went right in
twenty two. So I got to figure somewhere in the
middle is where we're at in twenty three. Right, So

(28:49):
they're above five hundred. They exercised their fifty year option
on justin Jefferson's shock, But how good are they going
to be? All the rumors that they wanted Captain Kirk
out of town. So and then the Bears are the Bears,
and the Lions had to fire a bunch of people
for gambling, So what.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Are you gonna do? Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app. Mets don't matter, Not even the
Knicks mattered. All that matters As Aaron Rodgers is a jet,
what are you gonna do after he leaves you in
the year stop stop stop trying to move the gold

(29:26):
post or it gets hurt. Week one, all of you guys,
just take the L. Well, but we had to ask
these questions. Take we are the show that gets ahead
of the curve. Take the right. Everybody else jumps in
our wake. L L take the L. Jason what L
take the loss? For Eron Rodgers still the packer. Every
night in the rundown the last three weeks, it would

(29:46):
say Eron Rodgers wasn't liked you. It was happening, and
it happened, and now it's But now I want to
say he's not gonna show up or noway he's gonna
leave it a year. No, just take the L. Just
take the L. Just take just Mike, the last time
I'd check had a W not L. We weren't here
last night. You know that suro sandwich? That wass uh? Now?

(30:10):
So we'll have more NFL coming up, But a series
is now over. The Tea Wolves have been eliminated. Anthony
Edwards misses a three at the buzzer. The Nuggets move on,
taking the series over Minnesota four games to one. Anthony
Edwards gets it, takes the three misses at the buzzer
and simply keeps going and runs off the court. Yeah,

(30:34):
I mean it was he takes the he takes the three,
and he starts backing up like I'm either going to
celebrate or it's over, and the ball bounces off the
rim and he just keeps running. So I ask you this,
quicker exit for Anthony Edwards this game right now or
halfway through Top Gun? Quicker exit? What? What exit was? Quicker?
Did you not see coming? Well?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
I think Goose going down as he did in Top
Gun and how quickly he was left in the dust.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Hey, you got to move on. It's a new day.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
I mean, there wasn't a who what thirty seconds of
film to show the angst and the problem that Cruz
was having before he had to get back on into
work and try to solve his issues. He can't cry
over that, get on it this one. I kind of
like that strategy. You run off now?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Will he talk afterwards?

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Unlike Brooks and Brant when they lost to the Lakers
last night, because Edwards was chirping a little bit about
how they were going to come back and really make
this a series and then he's got an opportunity, a
couple of the opportunities down in the final minutes to
make big shots, and he he didn't make any.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
I mean he was oh for six from three point range. Now,
I will tell you this. Now, the Nuggets moving on,
and I've said many times, look at the Nuggets. Don't
get to the finals this year. They're never getting there.
This is their year and they have the biggest X
factor of the playoffs. Because why is this such a
good year for Themnugget. You could talk about jokicchen being
so good and he's the MVP the last couple of

(32:03):
years and he's been terrific.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
But but he's steady as they go, right, And it's
like the Yannest argument of why don't we talk about
him more?

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Because he's good, he doesn't use it, he doesn't say anything,
he doesn't do anything. But the difference in the team
is they now have an incredibly healthy and effective Jamal Murray,
who has been the X factor of the playoffs so far.
He has been terrific. He's got a forty point game,
He's got a thirty five point game tonight in the

(32:31):
first round. He has been fantastic. This is the guy
that we don't talk about enough because who can wreck
the NBA playoffs? It's Jamal Murray because we forget about
him because he was gone for the last couple of
years right in the bubble. Jamal Murray, he was becoming
a star. Then he got hurt and he missed the
season he miss he's not playing. Jokich is still great.
But Denver Nuggets go home because they don't have enough.

(32:54):
But now they're healthy this year and Murray, after being
away for so long, is completely healthy, and you forget
about that. Why are they number one too, Joki Jokich. No,
they're the number one team in the West because Murray
came back and was the clear one, a close one
a to Nikola Jokic's won. This guy is the biggest
X factor. We accounted for everybody else. And here's Kevin

(33:17):
Durant and what he means for the Phoenix Suns. But
Murray and the Nuggets. Why the Nuggets so good? Why
the Nuggets going home for to one waiting for the
next opponent, Because Jamal Murray is that good. Thirty five
tonight in the win for Denver, four rebounds, for assists.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
He is it.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
He is the X factor, and we don't talk about
him enough.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
When you look at the number of players they have
that average double figures, you're looking at six guys in
the lineup. Michael Porter Junior also back in healthy, averaging
over seventeen a game, but Jamal Murray twenty a game
score coming off the injury. Just a lot of questions
coming into the year, and certainly down the stretch, given
what we've seen with so many star players coming back

(33:56):
from major injuries and then having relax is there or stress,
you know, trying to favor their leg, their shoulder, whatever
the case may be, that suddenly something else goes away.
I mean, how many other stars we've been talking about.
So for Murray and Porter Junior, it's been a all right,
we got to see you get to the playoffs. That

(34:17):
was the big thing with Denver. We know what yoga
is gonna do. Will the other guy's rise to the
occasion through one series?

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Asked? Answered, Jamal Murray biggest X fact for the playoffs. Meanwhile,
speaking of the playoffs, ninety five eighty six Phoenix with
a big lead now over the Clippers. They have flipped
the script in that game, but there's still three minutes
to go in the third quarter. So yeah, a lot
of offense in this game. We'll have more on Phoenix

(34:44):
and the Clippers, plus a big time NBA hot take
that everybody is going to love. Aaron Rodgers going to retire?
How about that? He said? And then I'm gonna key
tight shirts. Car that's next on the tirerec dot Com
studios to Disneyland, go find it.
