Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Sit here, Mike Harmon and I drink from the diet
Pepsi of victory, celebrating the Knicks end up moving on
to the next round.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
No, it's a huge day for you, a huge celebration, Yeah,
throughout New York.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yeah, we'll tally up all the carnage, the cars overturned.
I haven't really paid attention to what's going on, but
history repeats itself. So people climbing up the polls and
creating chaos, den and cars. A lot of auto yards
are doing that. Montgomery burns excellent because people are gonna

(01:07):
come in and need all those dens hammered out.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
So it's good, good business.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
A lot of mirrors are gonna get knocked off in
the celebration.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Wait, wait a minute, wait a minute. Now, I get
that usually that happens, but I think you're going out,
I think going overboard that you think Knicks fans is
gonna break everything? I mean, okay, but I think you know,
why not say that maybe they could do some nice
things and see it's gonna be a.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Nice They're gonna go rescue puppies.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Maybe I will do that.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
They're gonna go and they're gonna help, uh the elderly
cross the street?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, well in New York, you definitely need help crossing
the street. But I like the puppy thing. Hey how
about we how about you and I go and uh,
what do we do? You want to break some stuff?
You want? You want it? You want to what do
you want to do it? No, how about we go
save some puppies. Hey, that's a good idea. Let's go
save puppies. Ought to be the best thing we can do.
Let's save puppies.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Maybe they join in the crusade led by the new rats.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Are sure? Why not? What do I do?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
What are you guys doing? Hunting rats?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Let's let's go clean the city up.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Be very very quiet. What are you doing? What are
you hunting rats? How soon before a route runs from
mayor there.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Oh, it hasn't already happened stuff. I see, that's the
that's the low hanging that's another type of route. No,
when you actually have a rat, like an actual it's like.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
An actual rat like the penguin. And Batman returns, Yeah, no,
like an.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Actual rat, that would have to well, okay, you would
need that.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
We're not far away.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
No, because but here's what you would need. You would
why why? Why why is that? I said?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I said, Batman returns, he said.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
It's Harmin's.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
It's even worse.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
No, I know it's Harmon's.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's worse.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
It's you listen to nothing.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
For seventy two hours and you're gonna tell me me
mentioning Batman is somehow worse because Michael keat is.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Back just talks about nickelback.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Why I think that was illegal forward progress right there,
fasting to myself.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
You know, you can't just say it it's gotta be organic.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I was.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
You can't just say it just to oh, I want
to play I want to play that song or I
wanta so I'm gonna say no, it's gotta be organic. Man.
You can't just say it because you want to say it. No,
it's got to be organic.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
So Jason, you owe me a dollar.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Oh my god, stop with this. Stop stop you stop
stop stop. Uh. Things are getting very interesting and maybe
my words just inspired the Heat in a large way.
There are forty four seconds left to go Game five.

(03:43):
The Bucks need this to stay alive. Jimmy Buckets, who
had a very pedestrian sixteen points and that's Jimmy, now
has thirty eight and the Heat and the Bucks are
tied at one thirteen a piece with less than thirty
seconds to go in the game. And for reasons passing understanding,

(04:04):
this game, much like the Knicks game, was on NBA TV,
So there is that butt. Let's just understand that sometimes
you gotta put games where you can. What a horrible
call this is gonna This could be it for the
Bucks and Yannis in his thirty three and fifteen game
that he's having, and we could be ready for the
Knicks and the Heat in the second round of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
One of the softest foul calls you'll ever see in
a game at any level was just made against the Heat.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
So you're gonna have the Bucks going to the line
to try to take the lead here with under thirty
seconds left to go. You can see the heater hopping mad.
You guys are a couple of seconds ahead of me.
Kevin Love not happy walking off the court, very mad.
Sits right down. That's it. I'm done, James, that's it.
I'm sitting down. That's it.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
The refs showed no love for Kevin.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I mean that really was that really was a ridiculous foul.
That really was an absolute ridiculous foul call. Love got
in his He did get in his way.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
But come on, that's running a straight line and he
had to take an extra step.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Around man violent tj uh so k Love has fouled
out of the game. Bucks going to the free throw
line to shoot two uh to try to get back
in this series. It is one thirteen to one thirteen. Yeah,
I'm not a fan of that call. If he wound
up getting knocked out of bounds, I get it, I okay,
but at the end, but this is what happens, And

(05:37):
this is a bit. This is a thing with the
NFL and the NBA in the final two minutes when
whistles are blown when they shouldn't be because all of
the attention that's spent on the two minute report and
how the end of games are officiated. So this is
why at the end of games, calls that that that
were let go the entire game, Like, we're not going
to call this the first fifty eight minutes of the game,

(05:57):
whether it's the Super Bowl, because we've seen the last
couple of years where calls that were allowed in the
first fifty eight minutes wound up affecting the game in
the final two minutes because flags were thrown. Wait, you
didn't call it the whole game. Well, I know I'm
gonna be graded, and I really like to officiate Super
Bowls and NBA playoff games, so I'm gonna make sure
that I blow the whistle or I flip throw the flag.

(06:18):
This is what happens because officials know, Hey, if I
miss something early game where I let guys play, but
the last two minutes, that's gonna get scrutinized, and I
don't want to get marked down. I want to be
able to continue on with my career here, So I'm
gonna blow this whistle, I'm gonna throw the flag. And
that's why we get these calls at the end of
games because officials know they're going to spend more time
scrutinizing the final two.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
This is what happens, Larry Well, but even getting scrutinized,
like it works both ways. Now you're calling out, well,
technically it's a final he didn't bump him. Really, That's
where we're at in these two minute reviews. And then
we go stand at the scorers table for eight minutes
looking at and reviewing stuff. We like the continuity, we

(07:00):
like the flowing games, now until we don't.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Was it won? Was it not? Was it one? Was
it not? Nah? But look, I mean I don't look,
I don't like it. I don't like it because it
didn't really affect the game. And at the end of
the game, yeay, you kind of want to see that,
you kind of want to see it. And now we're not.
And now Milwaukee makes both free throws. So now with
twenty seven seconds left to go, Middleton makes them both.

(07:23):
It's a one fifteen, one thirteen lead. Still time left,
not like there's not not like it was they called
a foul with three tenths of a second left to
go or something like that. Still a lot of time left.
But now the Heat are chasing too instead of it
being a different story because the shot clock was winding
down a little bit and the Bucks were gonna have
to make a decision some point, and now they were
able to get to the free throw line and take

(07:44):
the lead by two. Twitter and how about a fresco Mike,
It's swollen Dome the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Michael Jason.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
You don't like it because the Bucks are gonna win?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, well if the Bucks, Well, like I said, I'm
not thrilled.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
About I don't want to stop.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
I don't want to see us. No, I don't. I
do not thrill about either team. But I really don't
want to see U.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
The biggest heat fan right now.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I really don't. I really don't. You gonna buy a
jersey Jimmy Buckets just missed a three and the Bucks
get the rebound, They'll be going back to the free
throw line up to with sixteen seconds left to go.
Pretty good look by Jimmy Butler got a pretty good
look there. I was surprised they kind of backed off
them a bit, had a good look, but back of

(08:25):
the rim and now the Bucks going to the free
throw line to try to potentially end this game. We'll
keep you updated on this coming up throughout the rest
of the show tonight. Maybe the Bucks are gonna live
to fight another day. Meanwhile, Golden State and Sacramento one
oh one ninety three. The Warriors with the lead right now,
this one again early in the fourth quarter. Clay has

(08:47):
twenty three, Steph has twenty one. Dearon Fox, broken finger
doesn't matter, twenty four seven assists and seven rebounds, But
a lot of basketball left in this one. The Jason

in two thousand and three. The Nicks move on in
the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers meets the media for the first
time as a Jet. He says glowing things about the Jets.
It's so great. I'll tell you what. Couple of my

(09:31):
favorite things from today, were Mike, you ready, okay? Hit me.
I dig the fact that Aaron Rodgers felt so comfortable
being with the Jet. Now he's a jet. He was
walking around the meeting room's barefoot. Now, Robert Salad said, Hey,
guy's comfortable. He's walking around the meeting room's barefoot. Now.
I'm not a barefoot guy. I don't, not that I

(09:52):
don't go barefoot for a reason, but I'm like, you know,
if I'm walking around, some other people are wearing stuff
and wearing shoes, I want to wear shoes, you know,
I don't think. And I also don't like if I'm
walking around on the ground and my bottom my feet
are gonna get dirty. I'm just not a big fan
of that. So I'm more of a slippers guy. But
the fact that he's comfortable enough to walk around barefoot
with the Jets, this is it. This is the honeymoon

(10:14):
that I that I always have wanted with a guy
the Jets getting a quarterback. Is that everything is great,
everything is wonderful, and he's walking barefoot like he's trapesing
around a big field full of green and white flowers
where people just play the Jets chant.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
All the time.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Buddy.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
It just goes back to the idea of he's gone
into a different world, right, he marches to his own drum,
and by showing up without shoes, it adds to the eccentricity.
It adds to the airin being aarin mythology that has

(10:49):
been built these last couple of years, and certainly in
this move to New York, you've had the darkness retreat,
you had going out and hanging out with Miles Teller
and all of those you know. Here he is on
the road from a jungle and any country of the world,
that kind of thing ahead of top Gun coming out
and eventually Rogers returning to the Packers. So it plays

(11:12):
to that narrative like Aaron's just his own guy, and
this is how much this is hallowed soil for him.
See what I did there, I just made it a
special thing that he wanted to be one with the
ground that he's walking.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
I sound like Vic the Brick now, Mike.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Harmon, No, this is great, this is this is a day.
I am filled with love and happiness. I want to
dress like a sixties flower child. I want to wear
bell bottomed jeans with like flower patches on them.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Ab just so and so nobody, nobody is stopping you
from doing any of those things.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Well, you know, hardest to find bell bottom jeans. It's
very difficult a male bell bell bottom jeans, and with
the embroiderers on them. Who embroiders with jeans, it's.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
They got the cover of the rolling Stone in nicely
it done.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
It's tough to find those.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
We can get those custom made, custom paid, custom fitted.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I feel like I have stardust on my fingertips. Tonight,
Aaron Rodgers, the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Start us starter, start up well to the corner.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
But know that that was last night, not tonight. That
was last night.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Put him in a bag and you threw him in
like garbage, right to the gunner.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
You did like trash.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
You know, both of you guys, take the l ever.
Rodgers is a coming. Aaron Rodgers is here.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Take the I never said he wasn't. We just said
he hadn't gotten there yet. He's not here in the
studio a packer.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
But I told you he was.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
But then you're missing the point.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
No, I told you he wasn't gonna be, and he wasn't.
That's what happened. You got lucky, No, you got got
That's what happened. You guys got got take the L.
Take the L. Aaron Rodgers, New York Jet.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
My goodness, I need a thirty for thirty on the
last six seconds of the Bucks in the Heat. Woo,
let me just tell you what happened before we get
to our guests, because this is absolute insanity and Jimmy
Butler has turned into Michael Jordan. We are headed to overtime.
With six seconds left, the Heat were down by a point.

(13:22):
The Bucks were trying to get the ball up court
and a really ridiculously bad foul was called on Kyle Lowry.
The ball went bouncing out of bounds. Lowry tried to
get it. There was no foul. Kyle Lowry is going
after the ball and with the whistle blowing, the ball
goes out of bounds. The officials went back and reviewed it.
No foul on Lowry. But because nobody had the basketball,

(13:45):
they run a jump ball from center court. I mean,
and Lowry clearly would have gotten the ball had they
not blown the whistle. But he stopped the play because
the whistle blew, and then they went back said no foul,
and so how to jump ball from half court? So
the heat gets screwed. Jannis nearly throws the ball out
of bounds off of the jump because the Bucks win it,

(14:05):
Middleton saves it by knocking out a camera guy a
running to keep the ball in bounds. The Bucks make
one of their free throws after the Heat foul with
two seconds left to go. So now the heater down two.
With just over two seconds left to go, they run
an alley you play for Jimmy Butler, and Jimmy Butler

(14:27):
gets away with a pushoff, catches the ball while falling
down one hand. He chucks it up from right around
the a little bit inside of the elbow. Swish. Overtime
one eighteen one eighteen Oh my joining us now on

(14:48):
the hotline, Jimmy longtime NBA insider. Check him out on
Twitter at Mark g Underscore Medina. It's Mark Medina. Mark.
I don't know, man, I'm so excited about the Knicks tonight,
But those last six seconds of this Bucks heat game,
who is that something?

Speaker 4 (15:03):
Yeah, Jimmy buckets Jimmy Butler reminded me of the bubble,
and you know what, in pertaining to the playoffs, these
first round heroics kind of remind me, you know, with
how he ignites the fan base and you know, really
rips the heart out of a visiting team. Kind of
reminds me of ninety five when Reggie Miller had eight
points in eight seconds or something. I don't know which

(15:26):
one was worse.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
It was eight points and six seconds. Okay, do we
need to do we need you know what on a
night where this is my night where the Knicks proved
one the top size part in the NBA. You know what, No,
you don't get to get away with that. I need
two great things about the Knicks from you right now
before you wanted this interview. Two great things about the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Go well, I mean, look, they beat the Calves four
to one in the first round. So that's compliment number one.
Number two, Jalen Brunson, he deserves the MAX and maybe
another contract here, so that's compliment number two. Anything else, No,
that's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
I'm okay with that. Okay with that, I'm alright with that.
I'm all right with that. Mark Medina with us here
Fox Sports Radio all right, So while we watch overtime
unfold with with with Miami Milwaukee, just really quick on
Jimmy buckets because every year in the playoffs he's able
to ascend and become a guy that looks like like
dominating games like Kobe Bryant would dominate games. And yet

(16:22):
during the regular season we plays he's a nice twenty
point a game guy, you know, I mean, I don't
know if I don't know if if we should treat
him as hey, look at how he elevates in the playoffs.
Are hey, dude, you could do a little bit more
in the regular season.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Well, hey, you know, I'm with you on Jimmy as
far as his playoffs are concerned. I think with the
regular season, it's not so much that he's fanbagging it
or anything like that. He was out for a lot
of the season, and it wasn't because of load management.
It was the opposite that he had actual substantial injuries,
and so I think it comes to show that, you know,
once he's healthy, you know, there's really no stopping Jimmy Butler.

(16:59):
I mean, he had a really good postseason last year,
and there is kind of that what if, you know,
he's playing through a grinded out series against Boston seven games.
He misses that three, but it's one of those things
that the heat rode with them and they know, you
know what, we're going to take the good and the bad,
because his competitive spirit usually yields wins. And what he's

(17:21):
shown in the first round against Milwaukee again brings a
lot of parallels to that finals run in the Bubble
where the Lakers, they clearly had a lot more depth.
You know, Lebron James, Anthony Davis are were dominanting that series.
But there are times, especially in that Game three, where
he just poured everything out there on the court to

(17:43):
carry his team to a win. And you know, I
think fans appreciate that when you know, not only are
they doing something spectacular, but they're really exhausting everything they
have to try to make that happen.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Speak of exhausting, and you bring up the Lakers, Lebron
James had no legs to the jump shots were today
as they dropped his game to the grizz, Jason had
theorized that it might have been best to claim they'd
you know, gotten I don't know, sick for some bad
poy or something or claimed injury and missed this one,

(18:16):
readying for a Game six. They fought back in the third,
but ultimately not enough. But thirty seven minutes, it really
kind of stands out when you look at the box score.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Yeah, without a doubt. I mean, look, the Grizzlies are
a good team. They have the best home record in
the NBA, So I think that there was throwing expectation
that the Grizzlies would be a much better team. But yeah,
it didn't help that Lebron James was a show of himself.
Fifteen points, five to seven team from the field, one
to nine from deep, and the thirty seven minutes. What's
interesting is that might seem high for a regular season game,

(18:48):
you know, in his twentieth season, thirty eight years old,
but that's you know, kind of par for the course
for a playoff game. But I know that, you know,
coming off that overtime win against Memphis in Game four,
he had forty five minutes, He had a career high
in rebounds twenty Afterwards, he was admitting that he felt
exhausted there. And even if he is doing quote unquote

(19:09):
all the right things of taking care of his body,
you can connect the dots a very short turnaround two
days in between games, you know, across country flight, very
little recovery time. I think you are seeing those early
signs of the fatigue wearing on him. And I think
the challenge moving forward is that they have a quick
turnaround time for Friday's game six, as well as because

(19:32):
of the fact that they had a missed opportunity here
without closing out if they are to advance to the
next round, you know, they could play the Warriors, or
the play the Warriors or the Kings as early as Sunday,
So there's going to be very little recovery time there,
and you just wonder to what extent can those small
things eventually add up to something big. And the playoffs

(19:53):
a lot of times attrition winds up becoming accumulative effect,
as well as health and us knowing that of all
the things that can determine whether the Lakers won a
title or not, the biggest thing is how healthy can
Lebron James be. You can't help but wonder if this
is a red flag?

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Could they have done that mark, Could they have said
come up because I said after Monday, okay, they're up
three to one. It's an incredibly quick turnaround, Right, you
talk about a late game on Monday night and early
game on Wednesday. The Lakers could say, hey, A D
and Lebron are dealing with injuries. They're they're questionable for Wednesday.
They don't even make the trip and they get three

(20:30):
and a half days off and then they're ready for
game game six on Friday. And then if they have
a quick turnaround to play Sunday, Okay, at least they've
had the three and a half days off before. Could
they do that? Because you the way teams get hurt
nowadays and stars get hurt, I can't believe we're far
away from anybody, any team pulling that in the series
they're up three to nothing, or they want to get
guys extra restaurant.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Well, look, the Lakers aren't the Clippers, so they're not
going to do that. Number one, and fairness, you know,
I'll get the Clippers. But to answer your question with
the Lakers, they're not going to do that because he's
not having an injury. He's just you know, it's fatigue
and you just want to maintain things. And I think

(21:10):
that when you try to play the long game in
a playoff series, it could wind up blowing up in
your face. Because so many things can change from game
to game, you have to try to do whatever you
can in front of you. So I think if there
was something that he was dealing with where you know
it's it's clearly an injury as opposed to something that

(21:32):
he's just hurting or he's tired, they would have set
him out. But here, even less than one hundred percent
of Lebron James is going to help them win games.
And I think in fairness to the Lakers and to him,
you know, it wasn't just him. I mean Austin Reeves
and D'Angel Russell didn't make shots and so that didn't
help the cause. In fairness, the Clippers Kawhi Leonard was

(21:53):
actually hurt during the playoffs. I understand the frustration of
him being out of the lineup during the regular season,
but look has an extense of injury history, and whether
you agree with it or not, the Clippers felt, hey,
you got to be cautious with that, But I couldn't
help but throw that out there, because you're just dangling
that low hanging frough in front of it.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Well, sometimes you just have to grab it, would Goawhi Leonard.
There certainly a lot of hot take nonsense about his
status and anything else. Always questions about his injuries, and
some will dismiss them as illegitimate, given pass fights with
training staffs and what have you. But the Clippers are done.
They're going to get some free up, some cap. You

(22:33):
saw that Russell Westbrook at is three for eighteen, so
that went back to from whence it came. So they're
just stuck. It would seem at least short term, with
a new stadium on the horizon and a lot of
dollars committed to Kawhi and Paul George, even though a
hard reset button like the dump button in our studio

(22:54):
might be more in order.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Well, look, the Clippers haven't hesitated from using that dump button.
You know, they blew up Blob City once it was
clear that that was in the wrong direction, and so
that could very well happen here. But in this present
point in time, you know, I reported earlier today that
the Clippers remained committed to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
They have two years left on their contract last year

(23:18):
on those deals or player options, but I think they're
looking at through this lens. Guys, these guys are still
in their prime early thirties. It's not like you're talking
about mid to late thirties. And I think that even
though the extensive injury at history is what it is,
it's documented, you can't refute it. They very much think
it's mostly circumstantial. Why I say this is Paul George's

(23:42):
latest injury with his right knee, lu Dort crashes into him.
This wasn't a thing of Oh, they tried to be
very cautious and it wasn't worth it. He had a
freak injury on the court with Kawhi Leonard a little
bit different. But they're also mindful that they've been trying
to be very proactive managing that quad injury that dates
back to his final year in San Antonio, as well

(24:05):
as the ACL injury. And while they are adamant that
this maniscus tear wasn't directly correlated to the ACL tear
that he had that required surgery made a miss all
the twenty twenty one season, they were mindful that this
year was the first full season after missing all of

(24:25):
last season from that injury, and usually it takes time
to build a rhythm in the second season. Most players
are a lot better, so they're envisioning a full recovery
with that. But the reality is this, these last four years,
they've never been able to get all four all two
of those guys healthy at the same time. Clearly that
championship aspirations they haven't fulfilled that. But I think that

(24:48):
they feel that there still is a championship window that
they can climb it through, not even just next season,
but the next few years. But the reality is this guy,
Steve Baumer's to vote a lot of money. It hasn't
necessarily been championship or bust right now in this current
point in time, but it might get to that point
next season. And so back to the whole Lob City thing.

(25:10):
You know, they were committed to it until they weren't.
Remember they re signed Blake Griffin to an extension and
proclaimed him a Clipper for life, and then months later
they traded him. So while the Laker or the Clippers
are devoted to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George right now,
it remains to be seen does that mean they're committed
enough to agree to extensions if they get some trade

(25:33):
offer that's too good to pass up at some point
next season, would they say no, But I would be
very surprised at at least in this offseason they start
doing the whole reset button deal.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
All right, Mark, let me let me leave you with
this here now, seeing how we've seen the playoffs go
so far, right, Miami and Milwaukee at it right now,
Miami could send Milwaukee home, depending how the rest of
overtime goes. If I said to you right now, what
you've seen so far the playoffs, the two teams to beat,
one in the East, one in the West. Who are
your teams to beat? Right, the team you'd beat in

(26:07):
the East and the team to beat that If you
want to say the Knicks, that's fine, But just the
team in the East, the team in the West. Who
are the teams to beat?

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Yeah, you're really giving me that low hanging fruit because
you're so of fen about that Reggie Miller analogy. Right,
I'll give it to you. The Knicks have been playing
the best in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
No, yeah, buddy, No, yes, Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Hell but look, they already wrapped up the series they
wanted in five games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, team that
had a player that they wanted to get in Donovan
Mitchell and didn't and they are a complete team. Yeah,
the Knicks are playing better than the Heat. I'm sorry,
but the Heat could be a distant second. But look,
I know I'm being a little bit facetious here, but

(26:50):
East West, it's all wide open here. There's no dominant
team here, and it's been all a jumbled mess because
of injuries with different teams and because there isn't a
feeling that you know, X team is just this team
that has so much talent that's separated from everyone else.
And so, yeah, the Knicks right now are playing the

(27:11):
best in the East. That can very well change if
Boston Milwaukee get their act together, if Jimmy Buckets continues
on this miraculous tear, But as of now, the Knicks
are the best news their conference. In the West, I
think it's all kind of up in the air, you know.
You know, the Suns on paper, I think have the
most talent, but I think it's also a red flag
that you know, they had a really scratching call just

(27:33):
to beat an under man Clippers team, you know, Lakers Warriors,
you have to have a chance, but there's questions about
their health. I like how Denver and Sacramento are playing,
but you wonder, you know, to what to what? At
what point will Sacramento's experience catch up to them or
the Nuggets the real deal in the playoffs. So it's
it's just going to be this wild, jumbled mess and

(27:54):
we should just embrace it, even if the results in
the Knicks hoisting that rare Shaeampionship trophy at the end.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Oh looking, Mark Medina right there, he's on Twitter at

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. I'll tell you, as much as I
love the Knicks and what they did tonight and the
drama the Grizzlies and the Lakers are going to bring
us in Game six, you could write not a just
a book, you can have a seven book. Harry Potters
series on tonight's Heat Bucks game that's won by the

(29:09):
Heat in overtime, Buy a bucket and unbelievable final sequence
After Jimmy Butler's heroics at the end of regulation tie it,
they miss a three and the Bucks get the rebound
with about seven seconds or eight seconds left to go.
And here's how the final play shook out for the Bucks.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Janis has it eight seconds to go, beat up two,
runs right to to Jimmy. Flocks get to the Middleton
back out to Allen two, but he didn't get that
shot up.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
But bymy Heat advanced to the second round. They are
just the sixth hate seat to defeat a number one
seat in the secondy sixties of the National Basketball Associates
in New York. Wheez start spreading the news. We'll be

(30:09):
there on.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
Saturday night to play pop on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
Hey, God, bless America. I am trying to be Stephen A. Smith,
and I am going to say something completely inane and
insane and laugh at you all when they give me
another big check.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
That's what he was doing there, Jason.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Jackson on the call, and I'll just gonna say this.
I'm waiting for you, Jay, I'll I'll be there. We'll
be ready for you on Saturday, my friend, We're ready
for you and all your heroic.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Guess who will be on with us early next week.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Oh, you know he's gonna come on. You know we'll
be on with us absolutely. But now, let me just
say a couple of things about this final play because
this is you know, Mike, Buttenholzer needs to stay off
of social media for like three months because the the
refs did everything they could to help the Bucks get
back in this game and win this and the Bucks
just said, nope, we want to give this game to

(31:03):
the Miami Heat. Let me just take the final possession
into account right. First of all, the Heat launch up
a three with about five seconds to go. On the
shot clocks, you could have cut this shot clock down
from eight seconds down to about four. But nope, let's
take it. Let's take a three way too early. Jannis
gets the rebound and he brings it up court and
he runs smack into Jimmy Butler right around the foul line,

(31:26):
Like you can tell, maybe he's Gianni's going to try
to get to the rack for a hoop, and Jimmy
Butler just kind of steps in his way, and Jannis
doesn't want to get called for a foul kind of
you can tell he's that's probably what he's thinking a
little bit, and he stops and he dishes the ball
back to Chris Middleton, and Yannis hits the deck, and
he hits the deck right at the right at the

(31:47):
out of bounds mark. I would say, probably about twenty
five feet from the maybe thirty feet from the hoop.
The ball gets into Middleton. Middleton looks like he's gonna
drive in for a shot, instead turns and passes it
back to Grayson Allen, who gets the ball at the arc.
Now I know Middleton's gonna get killed for this, because

(32:09):
it's what are you doing passing to Grayson Allen? But
he passed to Allan and then backed up looking for Hey,
give it back to me because I have an open jumper, like,
rather than try to go in and take at a
contested jumper, which I don't think he would have had.
I think he would have had enough room to take
kind of a fade away from from the free throw line.
But he decides to get it back to Grayson Allen,

(32:31):
and Alan waits a second, drives to the hoop and
then starts like a euro step with like less than
a second to go on the clock and doesn't get
the shot off. Doesn't get the shot off, and the
Bucks lose and the heat go on. So Middleton, I
don't get why. You know he didn't want to go

(32:52):
up he had the jumper at the free throw line,
Grayson Allen makes a big mistake, and let's go back
to Giannis. Wait where was Giannis on this play? Watch
the replay. I don't know if he was shook up
or what. But when he runs into Butler, he falls
down and it takes him a long time to get
back up, and he never gets back in the play

(33:13):
like he getting Like I said, I don't know if
he was shaken up, because but he got up really
slowly and then he kind of lopes in to maybe
get a rebound of a shot he never gets in
the play. He runs in Jimmy Butler and we're playing,
and he goes down and he never gets back in
the play. I mean that, you know, of all the
different things on that play, That's what my eye keeps

(33:33):
going to. Why is Chris Middleton passing out? Why is
Grace snallin? Think I got twenty seconds left to make
this drive? But boy, I keep looking at Giannis. How
does he not get what happened? Why was he not
up and back in there? Did he hit the ground
really really hard? Was he shook up? Was he trying
to draw foul? Realized he wasn't gonna get the foul
call and had to get back in. But man, it
took him a long time to get up from that.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Always a reminder that in any sport you're playing, you
give up your body in space and go to the
ground looking for a call. Sometimes that call never comes.
Now I'm gonna start singing Garth Brooks unanswered prayers. No,
So he goes down a hard after the collision with Butler.
Takes him about three and a half seconds to get
back in there's an alternate call from what we heard, saying,

(34:16):
get it to Middleton. Get it to Middleton as he's
getting across half court rights as a guy running in
parallel with him, get it in his hands there and
away from Butler. Instead, that extra second happens, and then
Butler saying it's so quiet.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
In here, very quiet quiet because the heater moving on
and either the Nicks or the Heat will be in
the Eastern Conference Finals. Think about that.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
By the way.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
That's old trauma coming up next on Fox six, Sock
