Speaker 2 (00:53):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
We had Brandon Ayuk to plan to talk about here
is now the Patriots have dropped out of the quick
learn for him. We have a big day in the Olympics.
Huge women's national team headed to the gold medal game.
US men's Olympic basketball team rolling into the semi final.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
The other day in the office, we have.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
The women's basketball team playing tomorrow. All kinds of stuff,
hanging out with goats. We got pit Bull getting a
stadium game after.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
That, but all of those things pale in comparison to
what we just saw moments ago on all our televisions,
much like.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Either the movie The Watchman or anything back to the
seventies when people would walk by television stores and watch
a game going on in the television and watching standing
outside the TV.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I'm watching.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I'm watching something unbelievable unfold in front of my eyes.
And it did something so unexpected, something so shocking. There
are no words shock the retinas.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
There are words. It's the TV calls well that we're
on radio.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Well, yes, Silence is the only radio format that has
never worked. Everything else it seems to have a ditch somewhere.
Silence is the only radio format.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I mean, we've seen hosts in different formats who've had
long extended pauses rating like Tim Curry in anticip Patient Murder.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
She wrote, h No, but I would be the program
director of that fact.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Hey, what's you? It's a silent sports format? Like, what
is it about? Nothing? It's silence? Really what happens? You
just don't hear anything? Really? Yes? Really? Yes? Wow?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
How is it ratings are incredible. Ill everyone while it's
a little bit of like the White Noise movie with
Michael Keaton. Everybody gets upset about hot takes. Everybody gets
upset about this. They're upset.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
If I have a station that's silence, everybody listens, everybody's happened.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Then every once in a while there's just a random
whale call.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Everybody's happy. No, it's complete silence. It's complete totals. You
can't have an he's not it's complete silent. That's your format.
No sound, no sound whatsoever, not even the disturbed sound.
I listened in the morning. I listened to the commercial
be I listened to the Morning on the way to work. Boy,
the guys on the morning show, they're great. I listen
on the way back when I get in the car
at night.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh I love.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
I introduced themselves and then they just let me and
everything breathe.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Jason Smith is a genius.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
He came up with silence as a radio format, and
I got I hope he's got that patented, because I'll
tell you other stations all up and down the XM
serious dial, they're gonna try to Hey, this is country
music silence, this is hair metal silence.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
See all the different formats.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
I mean, look, if you've listened to enough of the music,
did jukebox in your head goes all day?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I mean convinced mine does? Yeah? Man, I readily admitted
the demons are there. There's no silence. That's why.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Don't tar is going off? Hey, you hear the air
guitar be fantastic. I mean this, think of it as your.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Favorite air guitarist from twenty twenty two Company Alive.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Can imagine any kind the song you want, anything you want.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
That's why it is. It's an open canvas. This may
have something to it.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Now, this is an open canvas silence as a radio format.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Welcome to the void. Don't try that at home. Turn
it up all the way, turn it up all the way.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Why when you can just maybe get a little bit
of the feedback in because you turn it all the
way up, you just hear that that little bit of
a hum that Oh man, that's the best mane. You
don't get it all the time, but sometimes you get
that when it's when it.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Turned up as loud as you can go and it's
got a voiceover.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Guys, we have men and women that are paid to
do that home, so it might be a different pitch
depending on outstanding.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
You have to can I have my food?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (04:46):
So while silence, wait, we have to we have to
put a pin in. Then get back to that idea,
because I don't want to take away from the owners
of the moment right now, standing at the top step
of their dugout kick them in the team in the
ninth inning of a five to one lead. Yeah, the
White Sox were one out away from breaking their twenty
one game losing streak, and this is what happened. Oh no,
(05:14):
Harvor got crickets. You're fired, Harved got k. I don't
know think you have the power to fire anybody. I
don't think you do. I'm gonna call already span your
he can do that. I don't think he's White Sox
just won a game for the first time since John.
You can fire people tonight. Okay, who do you want
to fire first?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Friendly? There's nothing else going on. We couldn't get that
turned around.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Who do you want to fire first? He's only here
once in a while, but he's back. Listen, he's in combat.
Speaker 5 (05:41):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
If you can fire somebody tonight, I mean it's friendly.
Who you want to fire Would it be friendly? I
just think it could be anybody here today. Could it
be friendly? Anybody that's here?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
What you want?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Would you want to fire friendly? Anybody here tonight? You
got me, you got Mary, you got frostbur I'm not
included in this. Of course you are in this. I'm
not even I'm not even in Its.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Just he's a fire friendly. It's fun.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Would Fendley be the guy? Oh it's the Mike Arbon Show.
It's not Fenlo can fire me? Sorry, Jason, this is out.
You had a good run.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Somebody actually switched the bio that's on the website and
everything with.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Special guests Brian Fenley. That's what you would have there.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Oh okay, so this is not an open mic for
um all right, it's at Frostburg.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Oh nothing I need uh.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I need iron Man uh armor to wear to work
now every night, and waiting for the knife that's gonna
get me in the back from Harman back.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
It's coming from the front. No, no, no, no, no no,
you can't get me from the front. My reactions are
too my reactions are too great. They're too fast. Yeah,
oh yeah, yeah, we have video evidence.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah, it's like it's like the begin It's like that
video of the Matrix when uh, mister, when Neo is
fighting what's his name?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Uh than the main bad guy.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Wait mister, yeah, and and uh and he just touched
turned his head and he's just moving his hand and
he's not even paying attention, like starts eating an apple
and he's just knocking about like attack while dancing bye bye.
I'm not attacking you. You're the one that would attack
me to take over the show, my best friend. You'd
be the first guy they arrest. You'd be the funny,
first guy that he came down to, like what what
(07:14):
serves me?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
In the larger thing? There's just meanness. It would be
you know what my body would look like.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
It would be like in the horror movie where Jason
would invariably get two young eager counselors who wanted to
have sex, and the spear would go through both of
them and you see it just come out of the
guy's stomach.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Like that's what Harmon would do. Do it because that's
been showing you in a movie. Sure, I've got to
be more creative than that, more creative than that.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
While you are thinking about being creative, let's hear how
the final out of the White Sox in the A's
went down. Play the Crickets again, the White Sox breaking
their twenty one game losing streak.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I don't think you're gonna get it. Now. Welcome to
my world. When I want to highlight, I hey, play that.
Aaron Rodgers not gonna get it. Here's the butt. Fuck
you're a lot. That's she's you fun, I'll talk, but also.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Being disrespectful by just wearing the Packers jersey in general.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Oh stop the bear zone sloped. Play the final call
from last night's game.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
No, let's get to get the final call ready, Let's
get the final call ready, Let's get it out way.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
We can play it. We can play it. See.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
This is what's like for me when I say, hey,
let's play this Mets highlight and said, no, I get
when Diaz gave up a three run homer in the
ninth and I get that.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Can we get the the Thanksgiving the Black Friday call?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
I get that too all the time. That's a good one.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
I say, hey, let's let's hear the Sophia Smith cab No,
no here comes there.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Comes to fail nor? Oh no? All right? So here
it is, let's see what we get. White sucks. This
could do it out to left.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
Field, coming in, then attending, and.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
The streak is over.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
After twenty one hells in a row, the White Socks
come to the West Coast and get their first win
in a long time.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Say it with me, south Side? Stand up? Wow, week,
stand up? South Side?
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Wow, it's twenty two as far as yeah, that's yeah, we.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Have to give back that victory. I'm sorry, we have
to forfeit that.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
By man, there's a lot of tried to get the guy,
get the guy back all year long.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Well, and the thing is is like there's nobody else
who even sounds excited, No analyst in the background, nobody, Yes,
we want it, says a south Side.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Stand up.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I'm not standing up. I'm not even watching the game.
We've lost twenty one games in a row. I'm not
gonna watch another game against the A's. I'm not going
to watch a team that is moving to Sacramento, that
has zero fans beat us again.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I'm not watching the game.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Yeah, John Schriffin on the call, Gordon Beckham's silent former
White Side.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
He was even he's I believe like Mary was doing
you a favor and she didn't even know it.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
No, No, well, no I knew if it was the
White so Call. I was already ready for whatever it was.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Going to be.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
No, I've left the But where's Gordon? Isn't Gordon He's
supposed to be here? No, he left, he left the
he left in the sixth inning. He was done when
asked about joining the White Sox.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Quote the White Sox specifically, it's very exciting for me
just because of where the organization is.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
That was when in January when he was hired. That
call was so bad. We just had an earth I
just about to say that, did we have an earthquake? Yeah,
we just did. No you kidding, we just had one.
I'm high on the White Sox right now.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
They didn't feel an earthquake by my feet, already even
touching the ground.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
I'm watching.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Andrew Benin tend to get interviewed on TV after the
game is over. He was two for four of the
home run. He caught the final out tonight. He's the
greatest play you've ever had twenty two. Your equilibrium was
off from the earthquake. No, I owed the statue. I
didn't know we had the White Sox one, we had
an earthquake. Think about that for a second. Really think
about that. Twenty two l slid straight. He's outside, you know,
(11:00):
let me make sure.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Let's be fair. Let let's be fair.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Let's hear the call again and see if it is
as bad as we thought it was the first time.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Let's be fair. Dude, that was bad. That was Let's
be fair. Let's hear it because now people know what
they're listening for.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Let's listen to it again and see if it is,
in fact as bad as we thought it was.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
The streak this could do it?
Speaker 6 (11:19):
How to left Field coming in, been attending and the
streak is over? After twenty one, Hell's in a row.
The White Socks come to the West Coast and get
their first win in a long time.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Say it with me, Southside stand Bill. He had a
month to get a better call than that.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
I think he's I just think he's leaning into it
being clown.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
You had a month.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
First of all, the all the absolute silence surrounding his
call is going to be tough to overcome. But as
they tell you in radio, hey provide your own energy.
When you're the guy talking to a microphone. He had
a month to come up by the car. How many times?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
But how many times do we have like a Gordon
Beckham in that role where someone just.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Talking yeah, yeah, catch catch catch.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Where you don't actually but that's where you want that
kind of great analysis At that point, it doesn't matter
what it is as long as it's excited. I mean,
I'm ready for the Bear season. Where in the background
you got they are yelling yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Okay, yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Something like that would have been great, but he had
so much time. This is like, hey, I may never
get to call a World Series, I may never get
to call a national lay out for but I gotta
have my call ready. It doesn't need to be something
that is so full of elocution that I'm waxing poetic,
but it's got to be something where I say something
(12:37):
strongly and let the moment take over.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
But that's the question for Beckham.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Did he lay out in reverence of those kind of moments,
knowing that this was going to be played on national radio,
on shows, on television, shows on SportsCenter, on Fox Sports one,
all of this that it was I'm gonna lay out
because it's his moments.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
And then he gave us that the radio call is
in guys, all right, you think it's better or worse? Okay, right,
hang on.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
First of all, I think if you cut to the booth,
you would have seen him laying back in his chair
with one of those sleep masks on and his hands. Yeah, hey,
what do you think? Gordon's not even paying attention? Hey,
south Side, stand up. I mean, come on, you gotta
do better than that. You gotta have all right, So
that was That was NBC Sports Chicago. This is the
(13:27):
radio call. This is White Sox ring, This is White Sox. Okay,
this is White Sox radio. Let's go okay, let's hear
White Sox radio.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
But he's hitting eight tonight and he swings hits a
towering pop fly shallow left, and it'll be benintending to
make the catch, and it's finally over. The White Sox
twenty one game losing streak is history. They beat the
Age tonight five to one.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
That a normal win, now, okay, when cast on the golf,
there's no such thing as a normal win for the
White Sox.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Here's what actually happen. But I'm gonna I'm gonna be
a little nicer now.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Obviously, this losing streak broke all the play by play guys,
they're all broken. They're all absolutely, but they had nothing left. Yeah,
we won great. How much they were broken before? How
much longer till the end of the season. We're gonna
get preempted for any Bears preseason games. I don't have
to work one night. I have one night to look
so forward to. They were broken the White Sox. Absolutely,
they broke everybody even doing the games.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
No, I you know what, I'm listening to you tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
The score is they eviscerate the final call because they've
been battling with Shriffin since his arrival.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
How upset is Ozzie Gian's flask allegedly allegedly he said it.
He said it explicitly. I always want to protect all
of us.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Just a week.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
We can play back to tape if we had to
a AZZI from the week.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
This is why after everyone of Brian Finley's updates, we
always play that allegedly drop that he doesn't hear, just
so in case when he gets stuff wrong. It's allegedly, well,
he had the White Sox losing fifty one in a row.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Room and era.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
I think there is a two thousand and five world
series something your padres have never experienced.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Right now, I don't know what's happening. Okay, but I
gotta say this, I don't know what's happening. But right now,
the postgame show is on for the White Sox and
the host is on his telephone with somebody.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
It's gotta be Auzzy because he's not there.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
It's just him. It's Chuck Darfine and Frank Thomas. Okay,
so I gotta think it's Ozzy Gee and again on
the phone. They just can't talk to each other.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
He's the postgame show has just started and he's on
the phone with someone.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
He's sitting there holding up his cell phone while Frank
Thomas is on the couch.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
This is this is the equival of a twenty one
game losing just fantastic. You don't worry about getting him
in a guest. I'll just call him on the phone.
It'll be fine. You'll be able to I'll turn the
volume up, you be able to hear him.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
It'll be great. Like this is.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
This is a White Sox post game. Now exit out
about a Fresco exit swollen dome. Congratulations to the White
Sox white sock sweater stand up out time. Coming up

Angeles moments later.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Who That's how much I was jumping around. I was
like the damn Hulk causing quakes.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I didn't even feel it. He didn't even feel what
we were going on. Well, I was too busy.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
He's still just shaking my head and slapping my forehead
after the final call that we played a few minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
White Sox win earthquake in Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Crazy Bakersfield, but yeah, baker outside of La Bakersfield, which
is a couple hours outside. I always get nervous when
the when the when the earthquakes are too far in
because I'm going, wow that if part of the United
States drops off, like I'm on the part that drops off,
like oh we had a good run, well we'll have it. Well,
we'll have Island property. At least, Hey, you come by
my house. I'm floating in the Pacific. Yeah, well, it's funny.
(18:13):
It's my older daughter thinking Bakersfield one of the schools.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
She's kind of looking at, Okay, getting ready for nursing
school down the line. I don't know that the five
seven is gonna make her feel.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
We gotta do is go back? And what was it
the ten ten to five?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Was that the made for TV movie about the earthquake
ten to five when it hits like everything from Vegas
fell into the oat.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Balls off, I got some motion prov upparty.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Meanwhile, TJ shaking Paris is the United States Olympic men's
basketball team. Uh, nobody better to break that down with
than California resident, longtime NBA inside in front of the show,
Mark Medina. He's on Twitter at Mark g underscore Medina, Mark,
I don't.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Know where you are. You are you in California? Did
you feel the earthquake?
Speaker 5 (18:58):
I am, I'm near Actually the Fox Works Radio studio.
I felt the earthquaking. Guy we'll call the spate of Spaate.
It happened because Jalen Brunson is Ficial in New York.
Next Captain.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
He gets to wear that little snever Yeah, hell yeah,
I am.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
I am being one hundred percent since Seial on this,
and honest, I know we're going to talk Olympics to
while we're on the top of Jalen Brunson. I actually
have just penned a two thousand wards story that's going
to be in Lindy's magazine to open the season on
Jalen Brunson, who got a lot of good things about
how he is the next next star and uh, some
(19:35):
bannerds might be raising where.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Was my phone call for an interview? You did not
call me? You not? You not call me? I thought
I did phone call.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
I already knew what you were going to say. I
didn't need to uh make the extra call there.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Oh when does that come out?
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Uh sometiving the phone. I'm being one hundred percent in
zeal on this. Jalen Brunson will be in Lindy's magazine
two thousand word feature story by myself.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Well it's good.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
We're going to the finals this year, so that's okay. Look,
I'll let you on the bandwagon. It's okay, you can
get on the bandwagon.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
You can sell I mean, look, there's a reason why
they asked me to do that before, don't.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I've been dealing with this lunatic at Fox Sports Radio
and it's finally seeped into my brain.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Jalen Bruns and Knicks captain in oral history. All right, First,
I got off the phone with Jason Smith. I wanted
to punch him. All right, Captain?
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Does he convince Julius Randall to take as little money
as he did?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
I mean that very well could have a trickle down effect.
The fact that he took that hometown discount. Now you know,
I am curious to the next try to shop them
for some deals. I think they're better off Kpean Randall,
but no doubt him just shoring up some money can
concertainly set an example for the next guy to take
a pick up.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
All right, now, let's head to Paris where we watch
the United States again when in dominant fashion, they seem
to be getting better and better as this competition goes along.
Jewell and Beat has a big first half. You know,
I look at this team, Mark, and I say, not
only is Steve Kerr the right guy for this team,
because he's managing the egos, He's keeping all the controversy away.
(21:13):
All the controversy is what has been made up about
guys not playing in the lineup, and clearly they don't
seem to care. I hate to be the guy to
say it, but I don't think the United States has
any problems right now coming into the semi finals.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
No, they certainly don't. I mean, they respect their opponent.
They're playing really well defensively and offensively, they're sharing the ball.
I think it's fitting that Devin Booker, you know, was
the league scorer against Brazil with eighteen points, because before
training camp, I was there in Vegas and Steve Kerr
was saying that he's the perfect FIVA player, and there
(21:47):
might be some casual NBA fans that would, you know,
shake their head a little bit and they think, oh,
the devil Booker. I know with the Phoenix Suns, he's
just a gunner. All he does is score and not
really I mean, he is a willing pass, he plays defense,
and it's all about who's with him on the floor.
And I think that while he had shown that, you know,
during some of the Sun's playoff runs when he was
(22:09):
with Chris Paul and DeAndre Aiden, and then lately with
you know, with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beale. It obviously
stands out a lot more because team USA he has
a lot more stars. They've been, you know, a lot
healthier and better than that hot mess that was the
Phoenix Suns. So I think it is very fitting that
(22:29):
of all night Stevin Booker rd the way because he's
been that guy of being the jack of all trades
role and adjusting to being in an avalana playing time.
He has started a lot, but it's not like his
number is always called. So yeah, barring any serious injury,
I think USA is going to get their fifth consecutive
(22:49):
gold medal.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Is it just simply the time of hey, guys, it's
actually time to win. Stop playing All Star like basketball
and just go play.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
I think it's a little bit of that. And frankly,
I think it's a matter of, hey, they finally got
some more chemistry here. I mean, we did not see
the US play well and exhibition games because they hadn't
really played up until that point. And you might think, well,
they should be able to play. It's twelve you know,
Hall of Fame players, you just roll the ball out.
(23:20):
But I think it's about finding the right combinations and rotations.
And while I don't think Steve Kirk can necessarily make
am a mistake because you're choosing from again future Hall
of famers, it has been about finding the right floor spacers,
you know, defenders that can compliment the scorers. And that's
been a little bit of work in progress. I think,
(23:42):
you know, Steve's been ironing that out, as well as
Shoe EmpId and Jason Tatum showing some improvement when they
have gotten playing time.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Okay, so for the United States to lose to Serbia
a game that was closer than expected, you know when
they played in the first time around, what is Nikola
Jokic your statline need to look? It's like forty five,
thirty five and twenty five, Like, what what if they
lose this game, Yokich just steps would be one and
he gets to wearing oxygen mask.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Yeah, I think that. I think that Nikola Jokic is
going to have to have a forty game in two
fronts at least forty points and he plays at least
forty minutes. And you know what the THEBA game is,
It's forty minutes long. When you look at you know,
how the US played against Serbia, the last go round
when nikoley jokuch is on the floor, even though he
(24:28):
didn't shoot the ball particularly well, they're in the game.
When he was off the floor, the US just wiped
them off the map. And so for them to have
a fighting chance, Nikola jokicch can't afford to take a
single minute off. I don't think that's realistic by thinking fairness.
Even if he does play off forty minutes and he
does score forty points, the US can counter with so
(24:49):
many other options with Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry,
you go down the line, So it's going to be
pretty tough.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Kevin Durant now the all time leading score He got
to keep the game ball and he might be the
happiest I've seen him in his professional career.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
That didn't include trolling people on Twitter.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
Oh well, when you're on tm USA, you don't have
to worry about hopping from team to team. And when
you're on tm USA, everyone's a star, so it's not like, oh,
well he played with a bunch of all stars. This
doesn't count. This is what Tmusa is in all seriousness.
I think even before he got the scoring record, I
think that he was the best USA Basketball player of
(25:29):
all time. I mean, carmelal Anthony is up there, but
keep in mind that carmelal Anthony was part of the
team in two thousand and four, that blond Bronze, and
I think when you're looking at Kevin Durant, you know,
he was a very significant focal point regardless of time
he played. In twenty twelve, it was mostly about Kobe Bryant,
(25:51):
but Kevin Durant still had a high scoring workload. Same
thing when twenty sixteen he was mostly the guy, and
then in twenty two, twenty twenty one, he was very
much the rare one a star that was willing to
play in the Olympics even with the compressed season with
the pandemic. So yeah, he has just been so instrumental
(26:13):
with team USA basketball. And I don't think that I'm
exaggerating this. Tyler told me this during you know, training
camp in Vegas. He said, I it wasn't for Kevin Durant,
they wouldn't have won gold in Tokyo. That game against
France was that close that they need every single point
for Kevin Durant to score.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
All Right, Mark, I'm going to tell you something, agree
or disagree. Okay, the only way the United because this
is what I see. The only way the United States loses.
They play France in the final, and the officiating is
like nineteen seventy two United States Russia, which could actually happen.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
But I mean that's the only way I see them losing.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
I mean, that's one way they can lose. You know,
Lebron James and Kevin Durant could come up with something,
but you know they've been fully healthy. Bottom line is this.
It has to require a bunch of shady officiating, like
you said, and it also has to involve a major injury,
and I don't think either of those things are happening.
(27:12):
I think in the history of USA basketball, you know,
there's always the danger of USA looking down on their
opponent and not taking their opponents serious enough. But these
guys know the drill. The game has grown a lot.
Every you know, major team internationally has some NBA talent,
so they're not going to let their guard down. So again,
barring an earthquake like just happened here or any other
(27:35):
Mother Nature event, USA is going to wear a gold
medal for the fifth consecutive time.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
He's on Twitter at Mark g underscore Medina. That said,
Mark G Underscore Medina, the earthquake hit and Jalen Brunso's
name Nicks captain guards.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
How about are Jalen Brunson will be on the Olympic
team in twenty twenty eight. Win La is hosting them,
so you'll be able to see everytail Brunson game in
your backyard.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
He should be on the team now, but that's okay,
a part of his entourage by then. No, I am
actually okay that he's getting this rest. I am okay
that no Knicks are playing. I am Okayyer bars Chambers,
because we're gonna win the gold medal and we don't
need the Okay, I'm okay with the Knicks not having anybody.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
I'm fine with that.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Mark, Thanks a bunch as always, buddy, We'll talk to
you as the Olympics proceeds.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Thank you very much, looking forward to my friends.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Thanks Mark, appreciate you. Josh.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon Live from the
tirerac dot Com Studios.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Look he wrote about your guy. Look he's Knicks captain.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Jalen brun said, Look, he's got to Brunson's He's gonna
be the MVP next year. The Knicks are going to
the finals. It is that, I mean, really gonna be
the cover story. Because if he's the cover has to
be Lindy's.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Then you have to get Mark to sign it because
it's your Get Brunton to sign it. Yeah, oh yeah,
he signs it, brunts and signs it, and I frame
it and I put it up in my house.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Yeah. There we go, Don, Don and Don and Don.
The only thing is in twenty twenty eight, he's gonna
be Laker future Lakers. Stop.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Look what he did there. Come on, man, we're not trading.
He's got a great contract. We're not trading.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
He's taking your guy now, he's taking the.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Heart exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Coming up next. We were gonna talk about it earlier.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
About the White Sox one, and that of course pushed
everything off the front page. But coming up next, Yes,
what team has dropped out of potentially training for a
superstar wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
In the NFL.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
That's next. It's not the Jets, Jason and Mike. This

the next fifteen minutes. But congratulations to the White Sox.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I ruled the world. Come on, but earlier.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Tonight we got the NFL story. We talked about this
last night that Mary Kay Cabot of Brett Browns Insider
first broke the story, many other outlets picked it up.
The forty nine ers had a trade worked out with
both the Browns and the Patriots. Four star wide receiver
Brandon ayukho has wanted out for a while. He wants
a new contract. You know the story. Uh, it was
(31:00):
going to be up to Ayuk to decide where he
wants to go. Would he be okay with a trade
to either of these teams? And let's batten this down
and make this trade happen.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
That was last night. However, a couple hours ago.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
As we've talked about on the show, ESPN's Adam Schefter said,
the Patriots are no longer involved in the bidding for
Brandon Ayuk.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Do you think it was because they listened to the show?
Maybe we really didn't.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Lay out a very long expository piece of why we
get a bad idea for all involved?
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Wait a minute, listen to these guys make a whole
lot of sense.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
And the last part of Adam Schefter's tweet, the Patriots
like their young wide receivers. Yeah, I always I always
know the part when he's doing pr for a team. Now,
it's pretty easy, Hey, Adam, we're gonna give you this scoop.
We're not in it, but you say we like our
young wide receivers. That's the trade off. Okay, fine, Instead
of esquima eesq, it says comma chill.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Okay, fine, fine, I'll do it.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Look, no matter whether this was Brandon Ayuk saying I
don't want to go there, or the Patriots saying, you know,
it's a little too much, little too risky for us,
we don't want the deal, this was the right outcome
for the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Yeah, you're not a Brandon Ayuk away from really doing anything.
Auk's gonna be twenty six. You're gonna have to give
him a new contract. You can't let him go. It's
gonna be thirty million dollars a year. By the time
you are ready to win, Brandona a Yuka is gonna
be twenty nine looking for a new deal somewhere else.
You are completely starting over, new head coach, new quarterback.
You have no idea when Drake May, if Drake May
(32:35):
a sense of the starting job because he's not been great.
Maybe Joe Milton is ahead of him. Jacoby Brissett's ahead
of both of them. You are completely starting over. In
what world would this make sense? I get the Patriots
want to put out there, Hey, we're at the bottom
of the barrel. We want to make sure that that
players know, hey, you can come here. We go sign
(32:56):
a high profile guy like Ayuk in the offseason. He's
gonna tell people when they come up a free agency, Hey,
how is it in New England?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Oh, it's great. You love coach Mayo. It's awesome.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
We do this.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
This this really on the way up. Drake is a
really good quarterback. Okay, I'll visit New England. That's the
only reason you would really want to do that. But
that's not worth thirty million dollars a year for the
next three years. Where you're at. If you were even closer,
if you were a little bit closer, I would say,
if you were the Giants, I would say, Okay, you
got a little bit something.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Maybe you could do it.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Teaming with neighbors. Yeah, but this is not the solution
for him. So it's actually great that they wound up
backing out of this because this was not This would
not have been a great signing. This is not something
that paid should look at because it doesn't fit in
with everything else they have going on with the team.
There's other players you can get, and sometimes takes a
little bit longer to crawl out of a hole. It's
(33:47):
okay you won eleven super Bowls in the last fifteen years.
It's fine if you have a few years where you
stink for a while, It's okay.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
You look at your depth chart as it stands right now.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Kendrick Bourne would have been going back uh to in
that deal if consummated to Mario Douglas, Jalen Rieger, Jellen Poke, Javon.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Did they say jelical?
Speaker 1 (34:10):
You didn't say all right, Jellin Okay, I just want
to make sure he didn't try to speak that wording again.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper are your tight ends. And
then uh kJ Osborne comes over from Minnesota, Wings of
Love up in the clowns above to give the fly.
All right, we'll do that one for karaoke night. That's great.
But in the you're over under for wins is four
and a half. Does he give you a half a win?
(34:40):
Does that move you to five? It's it's not doing anything.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
It's not going to surprise me.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
This is how bad the Patriots are and how much
you're starting over if they picked third this year, if
they're picking first next year in the draft. In fact,
they should be the favorites to pick first overall in
the draft. They do not have a lot of talent.
You have no idea what's going on with their quarterback,
you know, idea what's going to be like for their
head coach. I want to think, okay, they can kind
(35:05):
of pick things up a little bit faster, but they
should be the favorites to pick number one overall next year.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
You're not going on spending money on Brandon Ayuquinn.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
You'll probably be taking a quarterback again next year because
if Drake May isn't great, if Drake May doesn't really
get guess what you're taking Shador Sanders or somebody else
number one, and you're spinning Drake May off to somebody,
I'd say, I.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Mean Patriots four and a half, as you said, Broncos
are at five and a half, as are the Panthers,
and then you get to the Titans Commanders both at
six and a half. Commanders are an interesting one if
you're looking at betting outs, but we're not doing that
here for the purposes of this exercise. You're nowhere near
being a contender, right, You're a distant fourth in the division.
Maybe you steal the game against the Dolphins or the Bills,
(35:49):
or maybe against your beloved Jets, but overall you're not
doing much offensively.
Speaker 5 (35:54):
Right.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
You might might win a few games because your defense
is good enough. Again, assuming you come to piece and
break bread with judea On and keep him around that
maybe you're you're good enough to keep in games, but
you're not scoring with any any great proficiency.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Here.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
You're gonna try to grind out a couple of w's,
so push that away.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
So there's no impetus and no real rationale other than, yeah,
we just got a big name guy.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
It's Brandon Ayuk. Yeah it's nice. He's one of five guys.
And it's nice to get a headline, right, it's nice
to get a headline.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Hey, we went out and got a guy, and I
get wanting to build a and show you, Hey, it's
safe here. This is not Belichick's gonna yell at you
the entire time.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Here he does even with this money, does he get
disgruntled because the ball's not finding him? Because the quarterbacks
are any right, even if you try to force feed
him with ten targets a game, does it mean the
balls and it's gonna be catchable.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
I don't know. If you want to get paid, which
is what he wants.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
He wants the money, You're gonna go someplace where you
have to be understanding that maybe you don't get the
foot out to be flexible, that now you don't look
good and you look at your check every two weeks ago,
this is what I wanted. I gotta be I understand,
this is what I want.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
This is the price of freedom.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
We'll have more on this story and more on the
big breaking story of the night. An earthquake in Los
Angeles right after the White Sox break their twenty one
game losing streak.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Reality for Mike Harmon
