Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome in side hour two of The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios and under two minutes ago in
the fourth quarter, Patriots leading the Jets twenty seven to fourteen.
The Jets face with a fourth and four in the
(00:50):
red zone, justin Fields throwing for Jeremy Ruckert. What could
go wrong? Because you know Fields and Rucer. It's like
Montana and Rice.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Oh, they want to be with you. Oh.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Wo has the ball in his hands, should be a catch.
Instead it is popped out and falls incomplete. So the
Patriots have the football inside their own twenty up twenty
seven to fourteen, just under two minutes left to go.
Now the Jets still have all three of their timeouts
they'll be using their timeouts, but it's just gonna be
a matter of time before the Patriots. But the finishing
(01:20):
touches on this game and move on to having the
best record in the AFC. Great job by Pettis to
wrap up on record and get the ball knocked out right,
not quite the punch out, but just going to wrap
him up and got a hand on the ball to
Jarrett Louse. He would have fallen down right at the sticks.
Would have been first and goal. Alas it goes for
(01:42):
not I was looking for an exciting ending here because
perhaps you find the end zone. Perhaps you then get
an on sidekick. Yes, statistically negligible, but an opportunity nonetheless. Yeah, no, hey,
you can hope, but remember Jets, so fantastic finish Jets,
No hope, Remember Jets.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I'm not saying they were gonna win the game. The
final two minutes we're gonna matter. Jets zero, Remember Jets,
Yeah zero?
Speaker 1 (02:06):
The best Hey, the best part of my sports day
was Oh, Jalen Brunston's only got a Grade one ankle sprint.
But the Jets are playing like, yeah, listen, we're gonna
lose okaws. Yeah the year that's great. I love the
fact that we missed the playoffs despite having the Reliever
of the Year and three guys in the top ten
voting for MVP in the National League, and we still
(02:28):
miss the playoffs. No, I love that today, that's great news.
I love that. Why isn't it the roll age Reliever
of the Year anymore? I don't think they they got
to sponsor it. It's not it doesn't come on, not
just the roll Aids reliever, just somebody's Are they still
in business?
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Like?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Do people still? Can you still get roll ads? I
don't think you can get roads anymore. I don't know.
I don't Yes, are there you can still buy roll Aids.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
I could get a jar for five bucks, but I
don't know when local farmacaid.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
I don't know the last time I've seen a roll
Aids commercial.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
It's fair.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
It's a long time, man.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
But I mean some sponsorship. I mean, a dollar's greater
than zero, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I mean it was it was a great It's a
great premise. Hey Rolaids. How do you spell relief? Hey,
Reliever of the Year.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
It made sense, rola d Let's go and now congratulations
to the stop watching the Jets Reliever of the Year award,
because that's gonna, you know, give you relief not watching
the Jets. Yeah, because we used to have that, and
we'd had the Alcoa and in television.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Come on, rods aren't helping with this, ro o l A.
I no, no, no relief. I got to eat tombs
like out of a candy dish, like instead of like
the mini Hershey bars that you have left over over Halloween. Oh,
I guess leftover. Kenny. Just put him in a dish
and then in front of the couch and I'll just
eat him slowly. What did he have tonight? Thirty seven?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Now, let me say something good about the Patriots because
I've told you, look, they're gonna have the best record
in the NFL. Oh, you know, obviously playing a game
ahead of everybody else, but best record is the best record.
I've told you they are very overrated because it's the
easiest schedule we've seen in the NFL in at least
the last five years. They get the Jets three more
times this year. That's how easy schedule it is. Yes,
(04:04):
it's incredibly easy, but they're winning. But they're winning. Drake
May is playing incredibly well, should he be the MVP. No,
I'm not gonna give Drake Ay the MVP because the
guy gotta even have three hundred yard game, right, I mean, okay,
show he's got to be able to show me I
can pull a game out, I can win a game.
The Patriots are taking advantage of an incredibly easy schedule, right,
But you want something really good, I'll give you this
(04:25):
really good. I'm not lying to you. I'm not gonna
lie to you and pull the rug out front of
you and say they really stink. No, no, no, not
gonna I'm gonna give you something real here on the Patriots.
Mike vrabel is the NFL coach of the Year and
it isn't even close. Despite the fact you have Shane
Stikeen and the Colts with Daniel Jones, you have Sean
(04:47):
Payton and the Broncos. Right, you have lots of guys,
lots of teams that have great records. And I have
a tremendous amount of respect for the way that that
Nick Sirianni is continuing to be the head coach of
the Eagles while they have so much dysfunction. Right, there's
guys having great years Yeah, he's eighty to one. There's
guys having great years the year that Sean McVay is
having with the Rams now, because normally the Rams save
(05:09):
their best football till the end of the year. Yeah,
don't forget about the Doobie brother. No, I had great year. Right,
Everything in Seattle is fantastic. Right, game of the Week
this week, I'm about that. But no one has done
more in a short amount of time with less than
Mike Rabel. He was hired in this calendar year to
(05:30):
come in and clean up a team that didn't have
a lot of talent because Bill Belichick left the cupboard
bear Because look, if you don't want me to be
the coach, I'm gonna make sure I don't leave anybody
good for anybody else coming after me. Right, you had
JIWD Mayo. It was a mess after Mayo was a
guy in over his head. He didn't do himself a
lot of favors media wise. In fact, I'll go this right,
(05:51):
if JWD Mayo was better in the media, he might
still have the job. But here comes Mike Grabel. This
is why I said go all the way back to
last offseason. He's the guy I want. Is my head coach.
He's the guy I want. He shouldn't been tire, right,
He's the guy to go get all the other players,
all the other coaches out there. There's gonna be some
good hire some bad highers. He was my number one
(06:12):
guy right away. You oh, my number one God get
me Lieutenant Eckhart. All right, So he got a Jack
Palance reference folks saying there's a reason why he was
my number one guy. Right You knew this is the
job he wanted. He has come in and done everything
you would hope a new head coach, like an Aaron Glenn,
like a Ben Jonson, like anybody else would be able
(06:34):
to do. He has flipped the culture. He has turned
this team into a big time contender, despite the fact
that offensively they have a bunch of guys. This is
not the Stefan Diggs of five years ago. This is
a guy that's gonna catch three four passes a week
for thirty yards. Mac Collins is just a guy. Pop
Douglas is not the unguardable guy out of the slot
they thought he was gonna be when he was a rookie.
(06:55):
You've had all kinds of running back roulette with Ramondre
Stevenson fumbling the football, Trayvon Henderson not getting on the field.
Now he gets on the field, and when Stevenson comes back,
how is it gonna go? Right? Antonio Gibson had a
couple of big weeks before he went on ir defensively,
we knew the Pagers are gonna be better, didn't know
they were gonna be this good. The work he has done,
he has done more with less than everybody else. Because
(07:18):
now you want to look at some of the other teams. Okay,
Shane Steichen with the Colts, Okay, he's doing a great job. Right,
Daniel Jones comes in, But boy, you got playmakers. You
have the best running back in the NFL, and John
who was always a top three running back in the NFL.
And Jonathan Taylor. You drafted the best, the best tight
end who's come in.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
You have a lot of talent, right, Yes, you brought
it in and there's a lot to be said for that.
But you have a lot of talent on this Colts team.
Here's a lot of talent. You have three really good
wide receivers. Okay, all right, then when you want to
go to the Rams, Okay, the job Sean McVay is doing.
You have a lot of talent on this team. You
are incredibly talented. Nick Sirianni has all kinds of talent
on the Eagles he's winning, and Sean Payton all kinds
(07:56):
of talent across the board with the Broncos. Right, So, yeah,
these guys are doing great jobs. But in one year,
in one year, he has come in and done this
and it is a one year award. Hey, what's the
job you've done this year? Has Sean Payton done that
much better? Has he made them that much better than
where they were last year this year? No, there's been
a jump up, but has it been that big the
(08:17):
strides the Patriots have made under Mike vrabel I mean,
if you're doing Coach of the Year voting right now,
it's he's number one, and then whoever else you want
to put is like five miles behind at number two.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Let's have a little bit of fun looking at the
current odds vveryable plus one twenty stiching right behind him
at plus one forty five. Again, you had a lot
of what Balorda had built, but you needed the trigger man,
and we watched them flail year after year mean I
saw Captain Andrew Luck actually had a back and forth
with Ken Burns on Twitter, the Captain Andrew Luck Twitter account.
(08:52):
But since he retired, what did they do? They wandered
through the desert with a bunch of guys at the
last we should have been their last stop and for
many of them, and Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers, Joe
Flacco before he went on to prominence else who are
we watched wentz there you had Anthony Richards and you
finally found your guy to make it all run. And
Jonathan Taylor has already eclipsed a lot of what Saquon
(09:14):
Barkley did a year ago with seven games remaining. But
all of that say, how about now all the push that, oh,
Jonathan Taylor should win the MVP.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Wait, Barkley ran for two thousands. Finally, come on, stop
with that.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Well, look, man, it's a new year. He opened our eyes.
Mike McDonald's at plus four hundred, and then you got
Ben Johnson and McVeigh at plus twenty five hundred, Peyton
at a plus three thousand. For Peyton, the thing is,
we got a lot of questions about his offense. All
of a sudden, he's a defensive wizard. No, no, no,
but he is so like you. You don't get to
(09:52):
run there. If we're gonna question whether bo Nicks should
be your guy long term. Right as as some of
the speculation out there, and depending on who's saying it,
is it actually coming from Sean Payton himself, Oh oh,
that's to say, you know, for Mike Vrabel, you're looking
at Stefan Diggs. Congratulations kid today whatever. Nine catches standing
in free in the zone like that was just bad.
(10:14):
But look they don't count. Just the same in the
block score as you roll up and Drake may has
been fantastic and they're spreading the ball around. There's no
world beater at all in that receiving corp. Henderson is
the guy. He's the home run hitter. But to your point,
he's got five touchdowns in the last five days. Yeah,
he's got five touchout last fight. You know how long
takes the Jets to get five touchdown whole season? Yeah,
(10:35):
five days, five weeks, yeah, nine weeks. But when you
go back to Stevenson, like the big quick question coming
into the year was how short a leash it was
because of ball security issues. They still love him and
still you'll see a fifty to fifty splitter thereabouts when
he returns. But that's not a bad running back room.
It's just the occasional, oh he's gonna cough it up
(10:58):
kind of scenario. Otherwise, tough runner between the tackles. Defensively,
you knew Vrabel would have him up. And to your point,
the schedule has been their friend. But you can only
beat who's on it, and they've gone and they've done
so most of the time in resounding fashion. So for
verbel again, he should be the guy in Tennessee, let's
(11:20):
not mids words there. That was just a bad business
and you keep seeing more and more articles and thought
pieces coming out of that. But he got everything he
needed because it was stripped down to bare bones, which
is probably the best way to go right. Even if
you could rip Belichick about it, the fact of the
matter was they weren't a middling team. They were a
(11:41):
complete rebuild. And now you look at the guys that
were drafted last year into this year, you got a
lot of starters all the way down to your sixth
round kicker. Who's finishing the job for you this year?
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Exit out about a Frasca exit swallowing down The Jason

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. It is over in New England. The
Patriots beat the Jets on Thursday Night Football twenty seven
to fourteen. The only downside for the Patriots tonight obviously
that I feel like they could have scored more points.
But like, Perrywinkle is a really tough color to pull
(13:31):
off in Yeah, No, it was tough. It's a really
tough I mean, Perry Winkle is very, very difficult to
pull off for a jersey. Like it's not quite purple,
it's not quite blue, depending on what kind of television
you have. It's it almost looks like is this like
an East West shrine type Jewish gray kind thing going on? Yeah,
Perry Winkle is a really tough, tough color to pull off,
(13:53):
and I though I don't Yeah, Perry was a great one.
Perry was awesome rhymes with a lot of different things,
not quite to Bollwinkle stat. I'll give you a nickel
for some Periwinkle, right. But watching the tight that's the
one thing I'm watching the game going. Man, I'm all
four new uniforms and trying to make something work, and
you never know and you hit on something. But man,
(14:14):
that's a tough color. That's a really tough color.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Now, it was very muted. Just I had no juice
to it. Yeah, yeah, you want something to helmet. Wasn't
quite white? Was it like?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
It was just almost like it was not I want
to keep adjusting my TV. Yeah, like the Matte finish,
not the like when you get a picture of the
mat fit it looks a little dull. Yeah, it's it's
it's a little fire here. Yeah, it just looked kind
of it's kind of muted and kind of and kind
of boring.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Pretty boring for a prime time ISO game. Give me
some juice.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Not awful, not clearly. Look, the Jets had better uniform
Look the Jets wearing their eighties uniforms is awesome. The
green shines. At least they look good.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Losing.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I'm gonna go pull out a stack of Wesley water.
Yeah uh but yeah, I said that's the one thing
for the path that the uniforms were tough. They were
not crisp. No time out ahead of the hotline and
Welcome inside NFL on Fox Insider Extraordinary Jay Glazer. He
is on Twitter at Jay Glazer, Jay happy Thursday. Man,
how's it going? What's talk about it? Well? As a
(15:13):
Jet fan, I could be doing better, But however, it's
not like this was unexpected tonight for me. So it's okay.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
As a Jets fan, you're doing how you normally are.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Although you gotta you should have seen him during that
possession in the in the red zone with about two
minutes left. I thought he broke his hand pounding the desk,
Like how does he know.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
That's where you're holding off to? That really epitomizes a
Jet fan.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Yeah, No, that's that's my that's my life, Jay. That's
why that's going on forty now.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
And I know there you know Jets just they always
move for his first round draft picks and trying to
change the culture it cannot change, and left the awner
changes it cannot change and lets the owner changes.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Now he's filed a grievance against the players Association for
bad grades.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Man, he got so upset. I was out there few
years ago whatever it was, in camps and he did
some stuff that I'm not going to repeat, but it
was only it was like to get back at the players, like, dude,
are like fifth fifth, great year at the like in
the playground, like trying to get back to your bully, like, dude,
(16:21):
you're the owner. And he was so upset by some
of the grades he got that he yeah, he's it's lit.
The cultures everything right, And you know, you look at
some of these other teams, hey Washington and the Dan
Snyder there, he's one. They never won the Browns under
this owner. Thinking about the first time they ever won
(16:41):
with with this owner in was in covid when nobody
was able to be in the building except for football people.
They couldn't have the culture in there, right, And then
obviously would he They don't want them to the him.
And you know, I thought first hand that they have
told this year. But like Sean Payton when he went
down to the Saints, they had the work culture. You know,
fans are wearing bags on their heads in it. No
(17:03):
it showing all to really teach the owner how to
be an owner. And then mister Benson became a phenomenal owner.
I yelled, a great owner. But it's like you have
to teach them how to be great owners and help
build football culture and get out of the way of
you know, not jump in. I told you that told
owners as all, but several owners like, you know, would
you hire the best football coaches in the NFL to
(17:26):
run your business? No, Jay, it's totally different. Okay, then
why do you think you can make a second round pick?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Now, look now, the flip side of it, obviously, this
game is we talked about this a few minutes ago. Uh,
Mike Rabel as a coach of the Year in the NFL.
What he's done in this short amount of time, Jay
has absolutely been stunning.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, they've done a great job. But you know, even look,
you know and Drake May. When Drake May was coming out,
there are a lot of teams they were nowhere near
sold on him. And you know, I think you're talking
about like Rabel being coach of the year. Josh McDaniel's
probably assistant coach of the year because what he's been
able to do with Drake mayis but he is certainly
(18:08):
in the running for m VP candidate and and it's
you could just see the trajectory now. And look, some
guys are not head coaches, but they are amazing coordinators
and always should be in a position. Matangil right for
the Eagles. Josh McDaniels for the Patriots. He is a
phenomenal coordinator and clearly also a quarterback developer. A great job.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
It's pretty funny. I would sit next to Smith. We
got into his jets them uh for his life. He's
got Marino into Brady into now Drake May. So he's
he's really happy as he watches this. But let's stay
with the coaching. Josh Allen, Josh, Josh Allen's there too,
but you know you didn't get his upset about him
Drake May and having that Patriot perrywinkle On seemed to flip, you,
(18:56):
you know, to a whole other level. Brian Dable out
with the New York Football Giants. Kapka is going to
get the opportunity interim wise. A lot of stories and
fallout coming out of this one.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Jay, Yeah, you know, listen, this was the reason why
they did this. Escaped from ownership, not from Joe Shane.
It is john Nyramus, Tish and Steve Tish. It was
really all the the comebacks that other team had in
the fourth quarter, and they're just like, man, we just
can't keep doing the same thing. And I think they
a Bill knew I was texting of them on a
(19:29):
plane run after and you can tell that you know,
he wasn't gonna be surprised if it happened. But man,
it's you know, and the Giants. I talked talking about
culture too. Giants have this culture. Remember when he and
Joe Shane got hired, he said, listen, you guys have
to be careful with the owners meeting. The giants have
this culture. Were like, they're waiting for the Scott off
all all the time, and they have this great history.
(19:51):
But now it's just just how it's been there. The
last you know, decade plus was just waiting for the
Scott of fall. And you're gonna have to deal with this. Plus,
you can have a lot of people who say, you know,
who've done it one way a certain a certain amount
of number of years. You guys don't want to come
in and change things. And they're gonna go, hey, listen, guys,
you just got it. We've been doing this way for
thirty five years whatever it is. And that was a
(20:12):
big thing too. But yeah, the job. But I'll say
this though, the Giants job says a terrific job. Because
you got a quarterback, you got to running back, you
had a wide receiver, and you got culture because of
those guys. Now you suddenly got an attitude right and defense, man,
you've got some horses on defense. So I think that's
a fantastic job to get. And you know, I don't
(20:34):
think they're gonna. I don't think they would go and
try and experiment with somebody and see if somebody can
pan out. I think they're gonna, you know, look for
more of a sure thing. Is the is the worst.
It's never a short thing. But I think, but you know,
somebody with a little more skin to the wolves.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Jake Lazer, our guest Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right, you just get
some quarterbacks who are coming back, potentially coming back. You
had the big scoop Thanksgiving ish for Joe Burrow. I
think that surprised a lot of people. But hey, that's
great news if it's Thanksgiving is for Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
By the way, you have that whole conversation between me
and I Simbolt. Then he posted to Instagram, I'm in
the aim in a clown outfit. He was a joker.
Oh no, dude, you're telling me with it. You guys
know how far or fin I have a clown. Yes, right,
I'm like, bro, that is awful. Then we just start
talking and you know, I'll try to tell him about
(21:28):
Bernie Elis and he's like, hey, man, I'm I think
I'm coming back here a lot sooner. I'm like what
he's like Thanksgiving this, So I'm like, come on, He's like, yeah, well,
just I don't say anything yet. I didn't say anything
last Sunday. And it is amazing because when he first
went out, well you have a grade three care he
tour ligament tendon the sheet that covers it all. And
(21:52):
I know a lot of doctors involved and had had
information and a lot of people out this. They were like,
there's no way before the playoffs because of you know,
everything starts on the ground up. But also like that injury,
it causes so much pain. Look at pretty much ended
(22:12):
Eddie George's career. Charles Woodson, who had it like ninety
seven or something, he told me, man, I'm still not
over it, like it still gets them. And you know,
I think you know, doctors are like, look, he may feel,
but because everything starts on the ground up, you're always
gonna have that pain. But Joe's different. He's like, I
understand it. I'm able to deal with the pain and
(22:34):
come back that fast. And it's interesting because he has
the Grade three and here brock Perty has a Grade one,
and it's almost like harder for party because grade three
at least you know, Okay, we're gonna cut it, we're
gonna do this, assume we're gonna we know how to
handle this. And this is you know, they gave him
a conservative timeline. We're grade one. You don't do anything
to it. He's got to wait for it to feel better.
(22:54):
But as I said, it doesn't feel better until the offseason.
Like you just you can't get it better because you're
never every step of your life, you're putting pressure on
that big t.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
Yeah that's the great right sorry Jay, Yeah, the Brock
the brock Purty injury right when you say tow injury.
And now he comes back. Mac Jones played some pretty
good football. But they're gonna get Purdy and Ricky Pierson back.
It looks like trying to make some noise there in
the crowded NFC West.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Yeah, but it's the again, it's a big toe and
you always talking of Lynch Kyle about it also and
I'm like, guy, he's gonna feel this way the whole year,
Like it's never gonna it's not gonna a better until
the offseason. So it's like, you know, I think both
those guys that that injury a lot of us. Hey
deal with that pain and how much time you deal
(23:45):
with it's it's that's a hard one. That's a really
like the injury doesn't do a justice. Turf toe does
not do a justice. She should be called most painple
injury in football. But Joe burrow Man, what Jangster come
back all these and he said it times depends who
we are. You know, they're in their playoffs for sure,
(24:08):
but man, he is a he's an impressive cat to
come back from that several several months and we're talking
months early. This isn't like he's coming back previous early.
This is several months early.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Now, Jay, before you let you go, obviously this week
Veterans Day, commemorating it. On Tuesday, you had an incredible
post on social media Monday, mental health motivation Monday, courtesy
of you and Ronde Barber. Can you tell a little
bit of that story?
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (24:39):
So today you post that, Okay, I thought it was yes,
I'm looking because you know, Twitter, I'm trying to do
the show and talk to you the same time. You
had an incredible post here that I saw about you
and Ronde Barber and tell us a little about that story.
And I mean, it's just it's just amazing you went
into detail on this.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
You know, the marshawn neland thing. My message and you
know you were talking to team is like man, lean
in your tea makes lean into your teammates, and your
teammates don't know to be there for you unless we
open up to them, and they want to be there
for you. So well, before I ever wrote a book
about my depression and anxiety, my mental health issues, way
(25:13):
before I talked about it publicly five years ago, I
was in a dark, bad place and like I would
I would never commit suicide guys, because I'm not going
to do that to my son and my wife and
you guys. It's the decision I've made, right, It's just
I'm not going to do it. I don't want to
(25:33):
leave you guys with that pain. But I was so
dark where I was just hoping tomorrow wouldn't come. And
I never talked to anybody in so much detail. I
was going down to Tampa Super Bowl and Rende Barber,
who has been I've been so close with the and
TCU spot. Sometimes I feel like I'm the third barber
(25:56):
way that close. And I have a group down there too.
He's friends have been helped fun and Brian Reddigan. I said, guys,
I'm coming down tomorrow, man, I need to look over
you guys and talk to you guys. And they have
dinner and they were all busy and they said that
we can't. I said, no, I need to meet with
you guys. I am struggling, and all three you're like
seven o'clock. We got you, and that we got you
(26:19):
changed my life. Like they were like, I got you, dude,
I got you. So I was always a trade ever
tell anybody that's the first time I did it. And
they literally they dropped everything and I got you. The
power of I got you huge and clearly it's changed
my life because those guys were will to help me.
I then got the help I needed. I opened up
to other people about it and end up writing a book.
(26:39):
And you know, it's just that power of vulnerability. I
never realized how strong it was until then. But those
guys didn't blink. So for everybody out there, I want
you to understand. People want to be there for you.
They want to be a service. But it's on us
to tell you when we're struggling. But it's not you
also to hear us when we say that and lift
us up because trust me, at some point that favor
(27:01):
is gonna be returned. But that's what you gotta do, man,
you gotta it's the power. I call our teammates, and
these teammates these bonds. Now, they were there for me, right,
but that's the type of bond. Now. I'll be there
from them now, five years, ten years, twenty five years,
forty years, I'll be there from forever. And that's what
we need to do for each other, especially as this
(27:21):
world gets scary and scarier. Lean into your teammates.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
He's NFL on Fox Insider. Extraordinary Jay Glazer, I implore you
on his Twitter page at Jay Glazer mental health motivation today.
Read it watching the video of him Rende Barber. It's
amazing stuff.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Jay.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
We got to here.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Always to my friend.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
We'll talk to you. Anybody enjoy the games. We'll talk
to you, Bud, begre everybody. Thank you all right there
goes Jay Glazer. I mean the best great stuff. I mean,
I mean seeing this, I was like wow, and I
thought he put it up on Monday, because you you know,
mental health motivation Monday. I just saw the Monday in there.
Didn't see it, but you know, incredible stuff mode, especially
this week with Jay. Veterans. You know, Veterans Day on Tuesday,
(28:05):
a day to celebrate, a day to commemorate, a day
to think about what's going on and how to help
certain people, and how to help the veteran in your life,
for people you know that may need some help.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Well, you mentioned the Marshawn Nelan and it's a story
that's resonated certainly around here. A lot of talking about it.
And you see the clips of the Cowboys players and
Micah Parson's addressing it the other the other night as
a form teammate, just gut wrenching stuff. Today MATC. Collin's
(28:34):
wearing the shirt with the crisis hotline and the notice
on there, you know, trying to bring that awareness and
something Jay has always done with us, that transparency, that
honesty and openness. I treasure the relationship we built with him.
Have known Jay almost twenty years at this point that
we get those stories and those reminders of being of
(28:57):
service to your friends, your family, your community and teammates
at your office and whatever. But also you know, making
sure that you know you know people are looking out
for you too. So our best at Jay Glazer on Twitter.
Check that out.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports a monthsy belangos, Monsie, what do you
got for us tonight?
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Yeah, all right, guys, the NFL game has wrapped up.
The Patriots defeated the Jets twenty four to set twenty
seven to fourteen, excuse me in New England, extending their
winning streak to eight. Drake May as they chanted MVP
at the end of that game was twenty five of
thirty four for two hundred and eighty one yards and
one touchdown. That went to Traveon Henderson, who also had
(29:40):
nineteen carries for sixty two yards and two touchdowns on
the ground. Patriots improved to nine and two. New York
falls to two and eight. The last two years, New
England won eight games combined, and here they are winning
eight in a row. And I don't know what to
make of the Patriots they have an easy schedule.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Thank you all they do sicceeded and proceed. It doesn't
have to be pretty, and you don't have to like
their strength to schedule. They're winning games.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
It's gonna be me and you and Monsey and Frostburg
and Tyshirt playing the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
And maybe that's true.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
That's gonna be tough.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Man. I gotta make sure my per diem shows up
in time. All right, extra sandwich.
Speaker 6 (30:19):
Well, Week eleven of the NFL will continue this weekend,
and you're gonna see brock Party starting our quarterback for
the forty nine ers. He hasn't played since Week four
because of his dow injury, but he's playing in week eleven.
No CJ strod for the Texans in week eleven because
of his concussion. So Davis Mills is gonna start for
the Texans against the Titans. Lamar Jackson back on the
(30:39):
practice field, he's gonna start Sunday in Cleveland. When it
comes to the NBA, three games they've all wrapped up
on this Thursday. Raptors over the Cavaliers one twenty six
to one thirteen. The Suns don't look now, they've won
five in a row. They beat the Pacers won thirty
three to ninety eight deven Book for thirty three points.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
I just did not.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
Expect the Suns to be seven and five right now, listen,
I can't all right. Jalen Johnson had a triple double
for the Hawks as they defeated the Jobs one thirty
two to one twenty two Lori Marketing and had forty
points in the lost. Other NBA news, Jalen Brunson is
not playing on Friday against the Heat as the Knicks
take on Miami because of that Grade one ankle sprain
(31:17):
that he suffered last night against the Magic. Also, Warriors
guard Steph Curry and under Armour are parting ways after
a thirteen year partnership.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
The Curry brand, formed by.
Speaker 6 (31:26):
The parties is going to move on as its own
brand when it comes to the NHL.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Couple games still going on.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
The Avalanche leading the Sabers for to three late in
the third quarter, there's less than four minutes to go.
Islanders over the Golden Knights two to one. Late in
the second period. Just like the Jets and the Kraken,
they are tied at two a piece. Back to you guys,
thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Monsei so New York Jets fourteen Winnipeg Jets two. Okay,
so you won that bad advantage Football Jets one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Still still want to go back to that possession when
that fourth down pass got knocked out by Ah, we
would have had a fantastic finish.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I don't think we need to go back to any
possessions of that Jetscape.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Don't come on.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
He threw a perfect dime to a wide Oh wait,

but coming up next. So, the Patriots won best record
in the AFC. Now here they are nine and two.
I got at least two teams ahead of them as
best team in the NFL. And here's a hint they
both play in the same division.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Bears next.

stuff up there in the last couple of last day
or two, so check it out now. So with the
Patriots winning tonight, now they improved the nine and two
best record in the AFC overrated. But if you're looking
at the real power rankings of the NFL, right, who
(33:52):
are the best teams in the NFL? Right now? I
can't subscribe to the fact that people think the Chiefs, oh,
the Chase and the Chiefs are five and four man.
Just because they're healthy doesn't mean they're great, but it's
so skewed. But if you ask me right now who
the best teams in the NFL, are that I would say, Okay,
the two teams at the top that I think are
(34:13):
playing the best that could beat anybody else. Right now,
Neutral Field, two best teams in the NFL, and they're
both in the same division. And good news they face
off this Sunday. Two best teams, Rams and the Seas.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I thought it was the Bears and the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
There's the Vikings due the Vikings. Just hoping please JJ
McCarthy play well.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
I just thought you were going hot take.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
We don't want people to think that we really made
the wrong call on like three different quarterbacks and picked you.
But this is look New England. I told you just overrated.
The AFC North is terrible. The NFC South. I like Indianapolis,
but they're not as full service a team as the
Rams and the Seahawks are right that the Philadelphia Eagles
(34:58):
have all kinds of problems. The NFC South is not
as great as we thought it was. Detroit has issues.
They put up stinkers now and again. But the Rams
and the Seahawks, especially the Rams, because i'd have the
Rams at number one and the Seahawks at number two.
The Rams have done exactly what they needed to do,
and that is get out to a big start, so
(35:18):
you're not playing big games in the postseason on the
road in the cold and the snow and the rain
in a hostile environment. And they've done what they needed
to do to win. And now they're a team that
has no weaknesses. Matthew Stafford is on a heater and
they're scoring points with or without Puka Nakua. Their defense
is at worst a top three d in the NFL,
(35:40):
probably the best defense in the NFC, maybe the best overall.
I'm sure the Broncos that have something to say about that,
but they just dismantled San Francisco, where everybody thought was
allegedly good. They have no weaknesses right now. Seattle is
just so solid everywhere you look, right, I mean, I
don't know what else you can ask for them where.
(36:02):
What do you want? Well, you want them to win
at home. They're winning at home. You want Sam Donald
to be dynamic. Sam Donald's dynamic, Jackson Smith and Jigba
is the best wide receiver in the NFL. This year.
They just added a guy who is allegedly hopefully going
to help them take a little bit of pressure off
because the season gets on eventually you're gonna have to
throw to somebody else besides JSN. But he is and
he has been that good this year. Donald's making it
(36:22):
look easy. They play complimentary football. Their defense isn't great,
but it's one of the top third defenses in the league.
They do enough, they have, you know, to talk about
the rears that no weaknesses. The Seahawks are just that
solid team that beating them becomes a chore because there's
no way to really attack them. With Stafford, you can say,
(36:43):
all right, maybe we get a couple of interceptions, maybe
they can't run the football as well today, maybe something happens, right,
But with the Seahawks, it's, Hey, if one of their
running backs isn't isn't going well, the other one will
right where. Whether it's Sharpenagl's what, it doesn't matter. There's
just no way to really penetrate their their defenses. And
it's just it's one of those teams that, hey, every week,
(37:04):
we win. Every week, they seem to be winning bigger
and bigger, and with a surgeon's precision, halftime a last week,
it's like, okay, wow, it's thirty five to nothing. It
looks like Alabama playing against Syracuse. Right well, it's thirty
five nothing at halftime, what are we gonna do. We're
emptying the bench and the backups are going to play like.
That's how good Seattle went from being hey, they're pretty
solid football team too well. They have absolutely have a
(37:26):
fortress around them and it's really tough to penetrate. But
the overall ability of the Rams, their defense being better,
I'll have the Rams just a hair above the Seahawks
right now.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Meanwhile, the Eagles are the number one seed. About that
as crazy as it all comes together, and the aj
Brown story taking up the oxygen it does for Seattle.
The run game is middling, but again you're running clock
as well. Walker the third has been solid in spots.
Charbonnay has been good in and around the goal line,
(37:58):
and I think for a lot of folks, they're reticent
to to place them any anywhere near the top just
because of the Sam Darnold effect. There's still the Jets
stink on him after all these years, and you're not
gonna avoid that. Unfortunately, one of these squads has to
go down to the wild card side of things. Yeah,
it's gonna be Unfortunately, Rams made some effort to push
(38:21):
into the secondary and four to five things there. It's
gonna be fun to see if Matthew Stafford can still
have a massive second half at this point. Remember before
the season, a lot of questions about his health and
back and everything else. No, look at that touchdown interception ratio.
It's been fantastic with Adams and Nikoua, no question about it.
But a lot of football left to play. I look
(38:43):
at the Chiefs, you know, just to address that elephant
in the room. It's just because you've got so many
teams that people are like, I haven't seen them finish
the job. So it avails commentary and questions of all right,
I'll trust them if they get it, Mike, because it's
the caveat out of if they get in, well, they
(39:04):
still got to win their way in. Yeah, that's the thing,
right until they're on Sunday. Right, they're gonna come back
like all those villains and all of those fun horror
movies that we celebrate during the Halloween season. Uh, but
right now, still the puncher's chance, as it were, you
look at them. They're the eighth seed behind Jacksonville, which
(39:26):
nobody's buying. Buffalo. We love Josh Allen and the team's
that great. Pittsburgh will fall off Denver. Nobody likes the offense. No, no, right,
the Colts, nobody trusts Daniel Jones when it comes down
to it. And the Patriots. You got a soft schedule,
but you like the coach, You like the moxie of
(39:47):
the coach and your quarterback. But the AFC is just
one giant question mark right now. For the NFC, you
got a bunch of great teams. Unfortunately, somebody gets left
at the altar the way this shakes out.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Yeah, I mean, look, this will be another year where hey,
you know, I think if we're doing the seeds the
right way, you don't give the really bad division winner
the rec you're gonna get one of those.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Look as long as we still have division play and
you're gonna build schedules based on it.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Shut up.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
You want to put a petition out there and stalk
me when I'm trying to go into a grocery store,
Maybe I'll take a second to read it until then,
shut up. These are the rules of engagement.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
There you go, top of the power rankings, Ram Seahawks,
and luckily we get them on Sunday Game of the
Week in the Nfaay. We'll pick that game tomorrow as
we pick all our games on a big football Friday.
But coming up next, it's Thursday Night Football that goes
to the Patriots over the Jets. We break down and
answer one of the biggest quarterback questions we can straight
(40:48):
ahead Jason and Mike TNF Next, this is Fox Sports Radio.
