(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radiote. Greetings and welcome inside
our two of The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Well, so far it has been all Clippers.
They now open up a twelve point lead over the Jazz.
Still a lot of time left here to nine and

(00:45):
a half to go in the first half. But the Clippers,
thanks to their bench, is up by twelve. I mean
it's not it's not Kauai Leonard He's only got two,
Paul George has five. It's the bench coming through so
far for the Clippers in a big way. Meanwhile, for
the Jazz, Rudy Gobert has as many points as he
has MVP votes zero. I'll tell you what the the

(01:07):
play that just happened though, it was just funny as
can be, right when they when they tell all the
big men, you know, if you're the tallest kid on
the team all the way through the ranks, don't bring
the ball down to your hips, right, keep it up,
keep it elevated. Well, Rudy Gobert went into the lane,
had it down low to Marcus Cousins, said thank you
very much, and then ran the length of the court

(01:28):
and Kawhi Leonard with the assist. But it was you
know that that took it to do a nine, nine
point lead. But it's just kind of funny the way
that kind of flows. And we've seen some great defense,
the Jazz shooting. Just Smith's going to improve. Yes, it
is like the Knicks. Uh yeah, Donna Mitchell's got six.

(01:50):
He's just two of eight from the floor. But again,
long time ago in this game, but it is a
twelve point lead for the Clippers. Will keep you updated
here as things go. But uh, look in today's look
another day, another big Aaron Rodgers story. So now I'm
gonna actually change the conversation here to have it differently
than we've had an Aaron Rodgers conversation. Right because last

(02:13):
night we told you the Packers got to suck it
up and trade him because they wanted this to happen,
and and and now it's happening a little bit earlier
they wanted it to and now oh we don't know. No,
you wanted this, You drafted Jordan's love, you did this.
So the whole time we've talked about this, there's something
that you've said, Mike that's stuck in my head. And
now that's what I'm gonna turn it around on you
in a second. But Rogers officially he's officially a holdout

(02:34):
today as officially he is a holdout, he did not
show up for day one of the team activities. Now
they could find him. They don't have to, they might.
And on day one, two of his wide receivers, uh
two or two of his best friends on the team,
both all pros, have said yeah, we got his back,
Davonte Adams saying I will go to the top of
the high as a mountain and scream off of it

(02:56):
that Aaron Rodgers is my guy and I have his back.
And this is when everybody in the Packers run off
has just started eating thumbs like they were candy, like
they were smarties. I'm just gonna start eating these. Oh
my god, Davante Adams is saying that he's this guy.
Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness. So this is a
very big deal. You know. Batari as Well said, hey,
Aaron's my guy, but he's not gonna wait into it
as deep as Davante Adams did by saying, hey, he's

(03:19):
my guy. He's my guy. Look, Aaron Rodgers a guy
getting Davonte Adams paid, So of course he's gonna have that.
So with that being the story, I'm going to ask
this to you because I've told you for the longest time,
this is not going to be solved. Aaron Rodgers. How
how is something after everything that's transpired, How are we
going to go back and solve this to where Aaron

(03:40):
Rodgers playing for the Packers again? Okay, So I'm gonna
ask you this right now. He is officially a holdout.
He's holding out. When you hold out, you want something, right,
usually it's money. Usually people hold out they want money. Clearly,
Aaron Rodgers, you know, does he want money? Sure, but
he has made it clear that he is not happy
with the team and he wants change. He doesn't like

(04:00):
the front office, he doesn't like the decision makers. He
wants to change there, so he is holding out. And
the only way this is gonna work is if there
is change at the top, and that's gonna be a
Murphy or gooda Conster. Maybe you're getting down to the
coaching staff somewhere, but we know it's the front office
and how they deal with things. And the packers have
already said, nobody's getting fired. We're not firing Brian Goodaunster,

(04:21):
We're not firing Mark Murphy. None of that is happening.
So if you are holding out and you are not
getting what you want, you want something, you're not getting it,
and the team has said we're not going to give
it to you, I ask you tell me how this
can be solved. If what Aaron Rodgers wants he's not
going to get the package have said, we're ain't getting it, right,

(04:41):
how is that going to happen? You are holding out,
prepared to never walk into that door again, because this
is not one of those fly by night holdouts for
attention or cash where and I want my deal redone.
So I'm holding out, all right, here's five grand? No, No,
this is one of those well thought out this is
what I want and I don't like, what's happening? So
I want to go someplace else? So you tell me

(05:02):
how this gets solved. When what Aaron Rodgers wants, he's
not going to get. Well, Sometimes in life you're told no,
and you have to accept that you've been told no.
You're still under contract and if you want to play football,
the Packers can say you play football with us. Now.
If he wants to go and retire for the year

(05:23):
and host Jeopardy and hang out, that's fine. In the interim,
you know what, this is giving you an opportunity to
see whether Jordan's love could pick up the offense and
go to work. So thank you Aaron Rodgers for allowing
Jordan's loves some first team reps. Okay, you've said something
that clearly Aaron Rodgers has the trump card for because

(05:43):
he is clearly okay, then then then and and how
is that going to end? How is that? Does that
end with him coming back to the Packers? Right? All
you did? His postponement's a bit like you've bought yourself
some time. Hey, you know you could do sit up.
Does this end with him going back of the Packers
or does it end with him being traded at some
point whether it goes into the preseason into the regular season,

(06:06):
where how does this end with how does it end
with him coming back to the Packers. Well, sometimes you
gotta realize what the best piece of the landscape is.
And right now he's still in his petulant child mode
and that's great. Leak it to everybody who wants to.
I love the anonymous comment from other Packers players saying,

(06:28):
I don't care how it ends, blah blah blah. We
got six weeks we gotta figure this out, which is
I think a nice way to to just cut through
the cut to the chase of all right, where it's
rapidly come what do we at ninety eight days or
something like that until we kick things off. So yeah,
like for Aaron Rodgers, he wants to play hardball, that's fine,

(06:49):
that's fine, what commanding people's jobs. Get over yourself. But
this is period. But here's the thing. But no, no, no,
this is what he wants and you get what you
I'm not saying I'm not saying what he wants. He's
going to get. This is what he wants. And I'm
telling not that I'm telling you that money solves a

(07:12):
lot of things. They've never said anything more about extending
his contact, given him more money. They've never that's never
been a thing. Why are they going to play that
out in the press. They don't need to do that
in the press last because if they did that and
he wanted that, they would have agreed to it. Hey,
coming off your m v P here, let's give you
a new deal. It's all this money, you know what,
I believe about half of what I read, uh and

(07:33):
and maybe even less of the the bloviating when when
it comes to this thing, is that again, he's not
said anything publicly. It's all through his minions in the
in the press, and that's all finding good and the
stuff he did with Kenny may Culture feel that was
all that. I mean, like he was hanging out and
they were having a commune moment where they're talking about

(07:54):
their feelings, and he liked Kenny Mayne into his feelings
a little bit. And maybe maybe I'm raw, but I'm
certainly not going to conceive that you're a hundred percent right.
Oh of course, I told you this was gonna happen
from the beginning. I've been the Aaron Rodgers whisperer. If
we except not whispering, because you know that's bad radio,
because whispering on the radio ever works. Except I've been
a lot louder than that. But I've been the loud Aaron.

(08:15):
I've been the Aaron Rodgers loud whisperer this entire time. Yes,
I can even do it like Marv Albert, not exactly
what good a Constanton mine? Did you sit in the
corner and hold your breath when you didn't get what
you wanted to? Did? No? I didn't. But that doesn't matter. No, no, no,
it doesn't matter, because that's not kind of where we're
at here. But I'm not saying that what Aaron Rodgers
wants he's going to get. But this is what he wants.

(08:38):
And if he doesn't get it, how does he go back?
If if sometimes you recognize you're wrong and you buckle
your and you say let's go after what No, no, no,
but not after after This is what he's holding out
of a mini camp. He wants, he wants out. He
he talked to he finally did the public in everywhere
he said, why do you want? What's wrong with the packers?

(09:00):
He said it, but he didn't say I definitely want
out in that moment he said, it's Chennys. Why do
you want to get traded? Why do you want to
leave the packers? And he said, this is what's going on,
and he and he and he answered about how culture
and personality, but he never said it was an untenable situation.
How is it tenable? Now? All there holding out for

(09:20):
a minicamp? Who all the all the reports we have had,
if things were okay, why isn't he there? Then? So
if things are okay, then why is he there? Because
he's he would be the long extended Honeymoon files teller. He's, well,
that's kind of weird. Uh, you know, stop, No, No,
that is weird. And maybe they're both gonna be the

(09:40):
Top Gun two premiere when they have at this. I
don't know, maybe that happens that way. But if if
all that was true, things would be unfolding differently. And
while he's made statements, we know that he is unhappy
all of the reports that have gotten out. Aaron Rodgers
has told people, I don't want to go back there.
He has not refuted one of those stories. He has
not once said, hey, and that story Adam Schefter had

(10:02):
NFL Draft day that was wrong and I can and
I can't believe that. But this is saying I'm not
gonna go back and play for that team again. This
is not theater of I want money or I'm gonna
sit out. This is I'm not gonna go back and
play there. This is not about money. This is one
of those things. It's not about money. Aaron Rodgers is
a different dude. Not many people hold out because they

(10:23):
don't like the way the upper echelon of the front
office runs things. But this is Aaron Rodgers. This is
what he wants and he's not getting it. So when
you hold out for things you're not gonna get, you
don't go back in and say, okay, I tried. No,
he is gonna sit out until the Packers trade him.
I don't see that. I still don't see where this
can end with Aaron Rodgers walking back in and playing
quarterback for the Packers. And I'll just we're we're a

(10:47):
week end to the period by which they could have
solved their cap issues and moved on, because I'm sure
people are calling and wanting to get things done. Why
haven't they? Then he doesn't want to go back, okay,
so he can he can hang out. He's got another month.
He doesn't join the next six weeks, he's not going back. Then,

(11:08):
he's not going back. He's not If he goes, he's
not going back. He just can't wait to watch them
tell him to beat it. That there's a better taking
an inferior offer, dude, there's a better chance of Derek
Rose getting the first place m v P vote. And okay, no,
wait a minute, okay, let me let me, let me
change that little bit. There's a better chance on Hey,

(11:28):
remember the fans are divided, Jason, the fans are divided. Yes,
WoT someone think about the fans. They don't like this
at all. I don't like the acrimony. It's it's just
gonna be more videos of Aaron Rodgers on vacation, more
of it, and and we're just waiting for it to end.
How we told. I told you it was gonna end.
The minute they drafted Jordan's Love. That was the beginning

(11:49):
of the end that pushed every That was phase four
of the Marvel Aaron Rodgers universe, where hey, this is
this is the beginning of the final phase. Where again,
if there was a way that could end with it,
I still haven't seen it. There's been no way and
and and you can disagree and look, and I know
that you don't like how he's gone about it, and
I'm with you on that there's certain things he could

(12:11):
have done. And are you really holding out because of
the front office? Is really that big a deal? No,
that I get. But there's no way that this turns
into a solution that is satisfactory because normally the solution
is I'm holding out, all right, Well there's no more money.
Well I'm holding out, all right. What if we figured
some money around and gave you like an extra three
grand so you don't lose face? Great, let's do that, okay,
And now I'm back in And that's how it all works.

(12:33):
But what about a meeting to try to figure out
where that disconnect is? Because he said it wasn't about
Jordan love, right, He was on record saying it wasn't
about Jordan's love. He said it wasn't about Matt la Flora.
I love those guys. I'm loving you. Do you feel
me loving you? So if that's legit, then how come
he can't go in and have a meeting with the
other guys and say, all right, how do we how

(12:54):
do we commer heads prevail so we can build this
team from my last three to four years and dominate
this division. Keep justin fields and and Jared Jared Goff,
I said, Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins. I two thinks
had a pretty good moment there. And then I had
to say, Jared Goff, you did. But but I could

(13:15):
have talked about Dan Campbell wearing helmets and and wanting
a lion on the sideline. No, I didn't do that
coming at your knees, alex One. Let's definitely save the
part where Harmon said, can you feel me loving you?
Let's let's save that you got. And the second thing
is if they wanted to have a meeting, they would
have had it come back. Roger says, yes, I'll go

(13:35):
in under underneath the waterfall. It's not it's not gonna happen.
Note the beauty of nature and recognizes what he's got
is a beautiful thing. Why would he not want to
run it back with Davante Adams one more time? Twitter
at how about a fresca? Mike gets swollen don the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. I'm

(13:57):
telling you that's it. There's just no solution. We have
more on maybe the craziest story of the night so
far in sports. You know, I gotta say it's not
very often I invite a Major League baseball team to
my practices because I go over individuals with my twelve
year old girls softball team. But after what happens to night,
major League Baseball, we're gonna have to have that happen again.

(14:17):
A couple of big deals come in your way right now,
Jason Smith, Mike Carmon, that's next right here, Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with
My base friend Mike Harmen. Yo. Right now, second quarter,

(14:40):
two and a half to go before halftime, the Clippers
with a ten point lead over the Jazz fifty four
to forty four. We'll keep you updated on that. But uh,
it's not been a great year for fundamentals for one
Major League baseball team. The Pirates have really struggled with
certain things like when there's a groundball to first base,
you just step on the base to end the inning.

(15:01):
And now they're having problems with home runs tonight as
one of their players at a home run but didn't
touch first base, so got called out on appeal. Not
what about the neighborhood rule. Yeah, yeah, but it's not
something that really happens. Brian Hayes at a home run

(15:23):
in the first inning off of Walker Bueller, but it
wasn't one of those hey it's gone. He thought it
could have been off the wall. So he was rounding
first base trying to see where the ball was and
missed first base entirely round of the base for his
home run. The Dodgers appealed, he was called out. Uh.
This contributed to the Pirates five three loss to the Dodgers.

(15:44):
So I let the Pirates know this. Hey, tomorrow at
my daughter's softball practice. I mean, we're in the playoffs now,
but I will take a few minutes to go over
what to do with the ball when it's hit to
you when there's two outs, and actually touching all the
bases when you round it, either on a home run
or a double of some kind of play. Just knowing
how to touch the bases, that's we're going to do
a practice. I'll spend some time on that. So it's good.

(16:05):
You gotta stick with the fundamentals, baby, Come on now,
joining us now on the hotline for more on this
than the other big stories in Major League Baseball MLB network,
Fox Sports Radio Baseball insider extraordinaire. Who was born on
first base but forgot to touch first base? That is
John Paul Morossy JP. What's happening buddy? That is quite

(16:26):
an introduction on all levels, my friends. Well done, well done. Yes, uh,
unfortunate times. Indeed, for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They do pick
first in the MLB draft, which I suppose is a
good thing on the day that you make the pick.
Of course, it involves losing a lot of games previous
to that. But Cabrien has got a great, great future

(16:48):
ahead of him, tremendous young man, great hitter. But yes,
as you point out, that was not the best of
moments this evening. It baffles me JP that this is
the same team that's happens to I mean, really, this
is where if you're the coaching staff of the the Pirates,
you go, okay, if we get the one bone headed
play over the course they're okay, I get that, but
now you got the second one, and now you're wondering, well,

(17:11):
what's going on over there? I mean it's it's it's
really not. I mean, one thing you could say, Okay,
I get it, but two things like this, you go,
what's kind of happening? Now? Well, I'm not so sure
that we would necessarily blame Derek Shelton for this particular moment,
because it is typically not the purview of the major
league manager to advise his charges to uh in fact

(17:35):
touch first base. Uh. That that is that is sort
of assumed. That is, that is assumed knowledge at this level.
And and Cabrant knows that. Of course his father a
long time major league player as well. So this this
is known to the Hayes family as well. It's it's
known by Derek Shelton. The Pirates, though, there is a

(17:55):
certain truth that when when there is an overriding narrative,
and yes, I would say the the bias play is
one that sticks to the memory a bit more. Uh
that that one is very apropos of the way things
are going for the Pirates, and unfortunately for them. Uh,
Sidney Crosby is not playing hockey uh, any longer the spring,
and so I think that when the Penguins are not

(18:17):
having a long playoff run, it does uh, it does
not obscure the the longstanding and aptitude of the Pirates
in quite the same way. So they will hope for
a better day. They will perhaps the draft the shortstop
of the future, depending on what direction they go, or
maybe they picked Jack lighter, but better days to add

(18:37):
for the Pirates and the draft board. But as you
point out in the standings, not so much. They may
also be picking first in the two draft as well.
All right, let's get into the sticky situation that's in
golfing major league based uh and uh. Look, maybe they
could just say they were emulating a young Peter Parker
from far from home in terms of trying to come

(18:59):
up with something. But Spider Tach, well, you've got Garrett
Cole quote. I don't know how to answer that. When
I asked if he ever used its spin rate for him.
Trevor Bauer down, Jason is all nervous about Jacob Degraham.
What do we have going on here? JP, Well, it's
an important question, and obviously we have talked a lot
in our Conversation's last couple of years about what's going

(19:22):
on in the game, and and why we are seeing
such a decreased amount of balls and play and and uh,
the all these three true outcome rates and and and
the overall batting average being down so far. And I
think that based on Baseball's investigation, this meaning the illegal

(19:44):
use of foreign substances according to Baseball rules on the
mound is at least part of the reason. How much
of the reason is it, We are probably about to
find out, because enforcement is going to begin. Now what
that looks like Buster only had the report, this could
be up to eight times again, guys, eight random checks

(20:06):
on on pictures to make sure that they're not using
those kinds of substances which have become as detailed by
Stephanie Epstein and Sports Illustrated, rampants are around the major
leagues at the point that eighties and nine, according to
Stephanie's story, are using this stuff. That's that's incredibly pervasive

(20:27):
throughout the major leagues. And so we're about to find out,
guys that that if if pictures are believing that that
a ten game suspension without pay and with tremendous damage
to reputation is the penalty here, guys, that that all
of a sudden, if they're gonna stop using it at

(20:49):
the drop of a hat literally now this week, then
are we gonna see batters having much more success. I
I go back to one of the key things that
was said in in Stephanie's story, which was that for
all the different conversations that we have had, very genuinely
and authentically about the game, shifting, throwing the first base,

(21:10):
and no pitch, intentional walks, etcetera, that all these changes
would not make the same magnitude of difference of doing
the one thing they're doing right now, which is stepping
up the enforcement of not putting substances on the baseball.
I think it's this. It's worth a shot because we

(21:32):
all agree, all of us love the game, the product
has not been as compelling as it can be. And
if this is the one thing that fixes it, God
bless everybody, let's let's move forward with it. Well here,
and I get the danger for Major League Baseball JP,
because here's the thing. Let's let's just say it seems easy, right, Okay,
if you're worried about pitching and the pictures are using
you know, the spider tack or whatever it is to
try to grip the ball. If that's illegal, they got

(21:55):
to come down on it somehow. And coming down on it,
there's a lot of pictures who are going to get
caught with this, And even if it's the case of hey,
you're caught, don't do anymore. However they want to do it.
They don't want another Mitchell Report scandal. But that's how
it's gonna play out. If suddenly there's you know, four
dozen pitchers that that are caught using this stuff, it's
gonna be another situation. It's gonna be like p E

(22:15):
d s in Major League Baseball. So how do they
go about it? How do they ban this stuff? That
means it very quietly, they say, listen, you get caught
with this X and Y. It is gonna happen. But
it's it's really tough to keep that stuff quiet. J P. Well,
it is. But but here's the thing. It's it's against
the rules, and it's always been against the rules. This
is not a new rule that's being put into the

(22:37):
the MLB official rules. You're not supposed to have stuff
on your hands that's not rosin or your own spit
when you're throwing a baseball period. These balls it is
a very strict process. It's got the Delaware River mud
on it. It's the balls are rubbed up by clubhouse attendance,
uh previous to the game to make sure that they're ready,

(22:59):
and they're not or not. Of course, one of the
things that's really important to point out is that they're
not pearls, as they're said in the game, and they're
not perfect white baseballs. That they come out of the
box when they when they get to them out, they're
actually rubbed up with much there's there's something on them
already to make them able to be gripped. And I
do think, with all due respect, these are professionals. They're

(23:20):
the best people in the world of what they do
and and to me, I don't think that when these
when major league pitchers were seven eight years old, that
they were going to their moms and dad's grandparents saying, hey,
for me to be able to play by games today,
I need to have a bunch of gunk on my
hands to be able to throw my pitches. No, that
is not how you learn the game. It is it's

(23:43):
it is not a necessity. You might think that that
you might need your spider tack to be able to
compete at this level. But you don't. And I think
that number one, I hate to sound kind of old
fashioned about it, but but but number one, you just
gotta follow the rules. And number two, we've got so
many incredible scientists in our country. You mean to tell

(24:04):
me that if we really put our heads together as
as with the scientists, sports scientists, etcetera, that they could
not find a substance that does what a lot of
offensive players say is okay, which is, yeah, get a
little grip on the ball better so you don't hit
me in the head. Yeah, find that substance, but but
do not have it in such substantial ratios on the

(24:27):
mound that you're able to to use it as as
something that gets you. Now ups these RPMs in your
fastball that we've never seen before, it's like darn near
jet engine RPMs. This is this is insanity. What's happened
in the game. And I think baseball is realizing just
how much this is depressing the offense, and so you

(24:49):
fix it. Period that they took the first two months
of the season to assess the situation. All the substances
that were taken on the that we're there, documented on
balls that we're taking out of play. It's there, it's happening.
Baseball has the data. They now know what they're gonna do.
And and I think in general, if people are cheating

(25:10):
and now they all know they're not supposed to be cheating,
like really now know, like hey, listen, I realize it's
against the rules. But we're all telling you now, like
we're actually gonna start monitoring this stuff. Then you then
if and if you keep breaking the rules, that's on you.
I really think that the pictures have to find a
way to do their jobs at this level without relying

(25:31):
on something that's illegal to get them through. I mean,
that's that they don't need this to be good. They don't.
And if it makes them a little bit less effective
and it makes the game better than the process, I'm sorry.
That's that's that trying off. I will take every single
day of the week interesting to see if we'll actually
get the shift. See what I did there. He's over

(25:55):
at MLB Network of course, uh the NHL Network as well.
Fire it up for the Stanley Cup playoffs. You hear
him on Fox Sports Radio with us each and every
week find him on Twitter at John Morrosse. He leave
out the H HI mom j O N M O
r O S. I. All right, we're into June JP,
so it's time we start thinking about trades and chaos.

(26:19):
And let's look at the n L West Giants, the
top Padres four and six their last ten. They need
to get some more offense, Yes they do. Joey Gallo
is one name to watch. Their reports indicate Devin Dennis
Lennon in The Athletic that there's some interest there which
we should not be surprised about because of course A J. Prother,
the GM of the Padres, was a long time Texas

(26:40):
Rangers exec and that that, of course is where Joey
Gallo plays now and where he has always played as
a professional, and so there's a long standing connection there.
They need some the Podres for me. Of course, they
got Trent Grisham on the i L now and he's
a tremendous player. Doesn't get enough credit. But Machado really
hasn't hit. Um Osbur has been a little slow to

(27:02):
hit a little bit lately. Tatis has been great, but
they need some more offense. You're exactly right, and and
when your team is this good And when you've already
made this many moves and you have this obvious need,
you couldn't have to finish the job and bring in
that one more bat. And I also think, guys into
your question, Mike, they need to bring in someone who's

(27:23):
been durable and and Joey you know, certainly has had
some injuries in the past. He's a very athletic guy
who has been able to stay on the field a
lot here lately. And and for a team that has
had some issues with minor injuries to to key players
and in some cases major injuries, they need someone who's
durable and and there's a lot of ways they could

(27:44):
do it. I think, of course it's it's in the division.
I'd be a little surprised if it worked out where
they trade with the Diamondbacks. But where of course they've
got David Peralta as Drew Black Cabrera. Cabrera is a
really good fit for me. For a lot of different teams,
veteran guys switch it or he's been there. He's one
of the the world's series. I look at Adam Fraser with
the Pirates, another good name, and and Fraser is a

(28:04):
guy by the way Mike and Jason, how about the
Yankees like the worst team in baseball among left handed
hitters this entire season? What this is the franchise of
Babe Ruth. Guys, we have not had to say the
days of the Bambino himself, the Great Bambinos. My kids
are watching The Sandlot every second day. I can give

(28:25):
you every single bit of dialogue in that movie right now.
But the Great Bambino, this is the franchise is the
Great Bambino. They can't hit from the left side. They
need a lefty bat So Gallo or Fraser Peralta, any
of those guys would help the Yankees right now, a lot.
You're killing me. It's so good. That movie is so
great and stood the best of time. My daughters are

(28:47):
watching it now all the time. And I gotta tell
you what the tilted world see and they think is
the funniest thing ever. And uh, the kids pretty pretty
pretty obvious, right there. Don't do that. You can follow
on Twitter at John Rossi. That is at John Morrossi,
Fox Sports Radio, ammably Network Baseball Insider JP is always buddy,

(29:10):
appreciate your time. We'll talk to you next week. My friend.
We got to the sand, a little bit of hockey
mentioned great game happening tonight, abs and Golden Knights, and
you know, I was passionate about that whole sticky situation issue. Man,
this is this is the game we love. Let's get
it back to being what we fell in love with it.
I thought, I feel right now, guys, alright, Spider tack
for everybody there goes John. Spider tax sounds like like

(29:32):
a rejected title of a Spider Man movie. We got
to get the formula right. We got far from home good?
What else do we have? We have no way home? Great?
What else do we have? We have homecoming? Great? What
else we have? Spider tach? Someone say some spider sper No,
I don't. I don't know spider talk. You could bring
it into the world of the Sopranos. Now that's next level.

(29:55):
Said that you are right, Spider. I'm gonna reject spider tacks,
but it's very stick I thought you said you are
right now. Instead, what if like the spider tack was
like some kind of webbing that just got sticky. Okay,
maybe we can call the webbing spider tack, But spider
tack for a movie that's too much. Can't have that? Well,

(30:16):
I mean it's a technology you can sell. I mean
if I if I were Disney, I'd be packaging that
right now. Spider Attack might be good. I mean, like
spider Now, there's a video game attack my that might well.
See now they see now you're thinking, Mike, now that works,
Spider Attack, not spider Tech. Spider tech. Spider tech, but

(30:37):
I don't know how spider tech does. Uh. Twitter at
about a frescop. Mike gets swollen down the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Now, the thing
for me, Mike is that Baseball's got to decide how
deep they want to go into this situation, because you know,
the point I was trying to make what John Paul
is that yeah, you can get rid of the spider tack,

(30:59):
but it's a really bad headline. It's a look at
all these pictures now that are told you can't have this,
you can't have this, you can't have this because it's
gonna get out because the pictures are they're not going
to stop unless you absolutely tell them too and make
them and then it becomes it's almost like a mini
Mitchell Report story. So it's it's I get that. Baseball
has kind of stuck me. It's the easiest solution. Okay,

(31:19):
you can't put all that stuff on the ball. We're
gonna allow you this to keep your grip on the ball,
and that's it. Now, if baseball wanted to do that, okay,
but then they're admitting we gotta have something to rub
up the balls you can put a grip on it.
So it's a difficult situation. It's just how far do
they want to wade into this? And the good news
is that this has become so public the past few
weeks and months now with this that it's almost impossible

(31:41):
to ignore. So it's almost like baseball has to figure
that solution out. It's a tough one. I'm gonna give
them that, and not it's not an easy thing, but
it's almost they have to deal with this part of now,
like now we've given a voice to it. What's what's
making baseball difficult to watch? Okay, it's the pitching because
of the spin rate, because of the substance. Okay, let's
take care of that. So at least that's something now
that and be ignored. How you do it? Good bleep

(32:01):
in luck, but at least we know, well, you know,
you gotta try to find a fall guy. You gotta
find something to blame and and find this is it.
Here's the thing, though, is what are we gonna do
the here's the splits on every picture from June five
going back to the beginning of the year, and then
we're gonna have a separate set of statistics because we're
watching for the drop off. How much is the acceptable

(32:24):
threshold of drop off for a picture after June six
before they're thrown into what constitutes uh well, not quite
Mitchell report. How about a witch hunt? How about that?
So where you have to keep answering questions about it
for the rest of the year, so over the first
two months of the year and going back to last year,
right because Garrett Cole answering as he did today, that's

(32:47):
just bad. Right, you're in charge of knowing what what
you're doing with the ball, and if you want to
just say no comment, you've you've implicated yourself, unfortunately in
this case. Uh but just saying oh, I don't know, well,
you know you're whether you're using something or not. So
let's just take your ten games suspension or whatever. The case,
maybe and move forward. But you know, acting like you

(33:10):
have no idea. It's like you're one of the top
pitchers in the game and you got paid an awful
lot of money for being one. Uh And unless you're
now going to call into question everything he's done, which
to some degree, maybe it does. And that's the hard
part for baseball. All the the great of the game.
And I know you're gripping right now, is that maybe
you've gotten to a point where it's all right, how

(33:30):
deep does it go? We really don't want to know,
do we do we really here? Let's just use up
the balls and then it will be even Be sure

on the I Heart radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever

(34:16):
you get your podcast, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my bass friend Mike Harmonatness. Right now on
the National Basketball Association, the Clippers and Utah sixty two
fifty seven. Donovan Mitchell starting to heat up now for
the Jazz. He's got twenty three. He is the only

(34:38):
player on the Jazz in double figures. So it's been
a big last few minutes. From is that Utah has
started the second half on a ten to two run.
Mitchell started to run. Yeah, well true, Mitchell did, Yes,
Mitchell did. He's got all ten points so far for
the Jazz to begin this half. So Mitchell's on pace
to score. Well, that's TV scores all the points here
in the third quarter. In fourth her he lit up

(35:00):
with around seventy points. That's good. I hope you took
the over. Uh. Uh. Meanwhile, earlier tonight, not a not
a big game as far as competitiveness, but the Sixers
beat the Hawks one eighteen one oh two. Was a
huge night for Joel M. Bead Is and be just
absolutely goes to town. Forty points, thirteen rebounds. Uh. They

(35:23):
pulled away from the Hawks in the third quarter and
and the Hawks never really made a run. But the
big question is gonna be boy Joel em Bead. How
does he not get tossed? He had a back and
forth with Clint Capella going on throughout this game, and
Capella's turning to the biggest agitator UH in the league.
Now it's like he's he decided, Hey, Draymond's not in
the playoffs, it's gonna be me. And it got so

(35:44):
rough at the point, at one point where and Bead
was so frustrated. He goes down the court and after
after an offensive play, he shoves Gallinari in the back.
Galldaria had a big night for the Hawks off the
bench with twenty one, but shoves him in the back,
is allowed to continue to play. I mean the play
is over, everything is stopped, and he runs up to
him and shoves him in the back really hard. And

(36:08):
right after that you see, well, that's got to be
some kind of flagrant too, that's got to be some
kind of suspension where no, it's not happening as much
as you think it might like to happen, it's not.
The NBA is not going to suspend their star players.
They didn't do it. For Anthony Davis when he kicked
Jake Crowder and the crotch. Didn't do it for Devin
Booker when he absolutely slammed in the Dennis Shrewter who
was up in the air in a very dangerous play.

(36:29):
They're not going to do it for Joel embiid. Okay,
so all of this, oh, should this be a little
unless you do something so agreed justus, like you hit
somebody over the head with a chair, or you go
in the stands to fight a fan. And even then
I don't know if they said, well, the fans started it.
Now they're not going to do it. The NBA has
learned their lesson from when they suspended the Sun's players
from the Big series with the Spurs all those years ago,

(36:51):
when David Stern was doing a press tour to say, hey,
we did the right thing. Uh, the NBA has learned
we're not going to suspend stars. Other guys, yeah, we'll
suspend them, we don't care. But the Stars were not
going to Suspendello beat. This isn't even gonna be a
story tomorrow. No. Gallantari got the technical file, which didn't
make a whole lot of sense. I guess you could say, oh,
he was the agitator, you know, for standing up and

(37:13):
moving him beat out of his space as he stood up,
I guess, but you know, I thought that was a
bit egregious. But even on the broadcast, they were talking
about they're not gonna kick him out, are they, and
both got both commentators like, nah, it's not that far,
it's a push. Didn't send him flying, didn't sue plex him,

(37:33):
none of those things, So play on and let him sit.
He did have to go off in like the sin bin.
He was sitting off by himself because he went off
and got treatment for his knee. Right, they put the
big rap on it and it looked like he was
miles from nowhere, so that was kind of cool. So
it kind of looked like he got put in a
penalty box. But all he had to do was sit
out a few minutes, and then he came back and
absolutely dominated forty and thirteen on the night. Are you

(37:57):
kid me? This is a guy that was the had
the quite shittable tag as to what he was gonna
able to bring to the table, and instead he just dominated.
And instead he's a guy that turns out to be
your m VP runner up. Uh, so we'll have more
on this game coming up because listen, clearly it's the
Hawks and the Sixers now a much more competitive series.

(38:18):
And we thought my Hawks, and I'll tell you why
my Hawks is a big thing. But straight ahead, I
didn't think we'd have this much drama with the m
v P vote because we knew Nicola Yokich was going
to win anyone. Was it close? Not particularly, and Be'd
finished second, alright, Steph Curry finished third, alright, no, no
turns out all the drama was about who got one

(38:41):
lone first place vote. And it also has a lot
to do with the que serrito. Yeah, that's the kisserrito.
I'm actually talking about the taco bell que Serena about Yeah,
so am I want to get a k serrito? Now?
