anything else is going on, like the Knicks actually got
Jalen Bruds And so I was like, I'm good, I'm good.

Mets with the greatness of your non Alvarez and another
home run to bolster his a l m v P posse.
But that was good. I know, I know, I get

hurt today, but yeah, the world doesn't like me sometimes.

before we get into James Harden. I am so incredibly
nervous that even though all signs point to Jalen Brunson

signing with the Knicks, everything the Knicks are doing, they
make the trades yesterday to all all for him, right,
all for Jalen brunn This is not hey, we have
no no, it's all for Jalen Brunson. There's quotes from
Rick Brunson, his dad add former Nick. Yeah, look how
close they are and how close they've been with Leon Rose. Yeah.

Look it's a faded company. They're getting Jalen Bronson. But
if they don't get him, this might be the most
embarrassing Nick's headline in a decade, where they have made
all these moves strictly for one player. We're doing this.
We're not doing this to go try to get to

John day Murray. But I no, no, no, Jalen Bronson's
our guy. He's he's Nick Royalty, right, come on, you
want you want to get Cleveland Royalty. He's Nick. Right.
I am so nervous that they're gonna botch this. And
suddenly the Mavericks are gonna swoop in and they're gonna
give him the money and he's gonna say, yeah, it's
where my heart is. They've done all of this specifically

to get him, and if they don't get him, this
this is the Knicks in a nutshell. This is the
Knick's entire friend. This is twenty years the Knicks summed
up in one storyline. They went all in, made trains
to move on. They wanted to get a guy whose
dad works for the Knicks, who played for the Knicks,
who his family has all kinds of ties with the Knicks.
If they somehow don't get him, that's how bad it is.

And I am ready for the embarrassment of that. I
am so ready for the because I'm like, it's it's
I feel like I'm so nervous that it's going to happen.
It's like I have to get that my mind right
with it, that hey bye bye by this time tomorrow,
I might have to deal with it. Yeah, I mean,
there were a couple of things with with Bronson, right.
Tim McMahon of ESPN and had the story that Brunson

could have been signed to a four year extension for
fifty five point five million dollars by Dallas before the season.
They didn't offer him an extension until well late. Uh
so it's like all I made it, no contract talk
after the season started. That was Rick Brunson talking about it.
And so now you're looking at the price of poker

being reportedly utter ten million dollars and everybody has jumped
as fast as they can to declare Jalen Brunson the
next big thing. Oh look what he's gonna be able
to do? It's like, we don't we don't know, right,
I mean, maybe maybe the playoffs are the pretend to
some breakout superstar to be, but you have no idea,

and it's the Knicks son their history. I gotta say
I'm a little bit skeptical, but grateful that we're going
to be around watch it all unfold and see the chaos,
you know as it is, Like today was just full
of story after story where you just laughed, go, oh,
how he wants to be that guy? So you know,
you have those kind of kind of things that may

look the NBA has just given us story after story
so we don't have to live in Baker Country. We
don't have to spend, you know, countless hours dissecting every
bit of bread crumb out there, if you know, to
see if we can sway public emotion in the Watson hearings,
No NBA silly season is upon us, and man, it's

James Harden, in one of the first big moves of
free agency, has declined his forty seven million dollar option,
going to become a free agent, but he wants to
negotiate a new deal with Philadelphia that will allow them
to have roster flexibility to build a better team, including

use of the full ten and a half million dollar exception.
Hardness supposedly talked with the seventy six is about this
specifically since the end of the year. I want to
help them reshape the roster towards championship contention. Just for
a second, now, James hard and his team oriented. Now,
James Harden, his team oriented. Wasn't team oriented with the
Rockets when he decided I'm gonna blitz my way out

of there. No, don't want to be here anymore, don't
want to go to meetings, don't want to go. In fact,
when I've had it enough, I'm just gonna have a
press conference, say the situation is untenable, drop the mic
and walk away. No no, not that team, No, no, no, no, no,
but the Nets. James Harden team guy. No, not enough
to get in shape, not enough to actually show that
he can be a difference maker with the Nets. Doesn't

even make it eighty two games before the Nets have
to say, you know, we need a new guy because
you're not the guy. No, no, no, not that team
James Harden. Then the team James hardenho shows up in
Philadelphia is still not in shape, not the same dynamic player.
Philadelphia gets bounced from the playoffs. Oh now, now James Harden,

faced with forty seven million dollars and the last pay
day of his career. Now he's a team guy. Now
I want to help win championships. Now I've had had
that that that that moment of clarity that has come
to me. I've had that moment where I completely understand
the NBA. Now this is how we build and I

want to win. I've done that. Now my epiphany in
the NBA is here. No, this is a complete load
of crap and all he's going to do is sacrifice
ten or fifteen million this year. Hey, you take my
ten million, use it for the exception, get another good
player in here, and then have another year tacked onto
his deal for thirty five million dollars. So in the end,

instead of getting forty seven this year, he'll lose ten
or fifteen million this year to seem like I'm a
good guy getting it back. But you're gonna give me
thirty five million next year, right, because nobody else is
going to give James Harden thirty five million dollars. Nobody is.
And he knows it. He knows that he's at the
end of getting paid. Kyrie knows he's at the end
of getting paid. James Harden knows he's at the end.
So here's hard and hey, now I'm a team guy.

Now I'm a good guy. Now now I'm gonna help
everybody trying to win a championship because I James Harden,
da dada. No. All he's doing is saying, I'll give
a little bit back now, because this is how business works.
All right, I'll get ten or fifteen million less next year,
but the year after I'll get thirty five million and
it's thirty five more million than he was gonna get. Where.

You don't know what he's gonna get after the forty
seven million, the big paid days could could dry up.
Maybe the Sixers decide, yes, James Harden, you've used your
Jedi mind trick. We'll go a three year deal with
you and give you an extra thirty five million on
top of that. James Harden, Yeah, just see through all
of this crap. James Harden is not suddenly a team guy.
He's not suddenly someone that's seen, Hey, I've I've turned

over a new leaf in my life. Yeah, I've seen
it not happening. He's just going to try, because that's
why this is the story today of James Harden opting
out of taking less money so he can own that
part of Hey, I'm a good guy. And then it's
just gonna be Oh, I've convinced the Sixers to give
me more money than I would have lost, and I
come out ahead in the deal. That's all this is.

James Harden is not suddenly in you guy a new
NBA player and I've I've got I got a new
direction in mind life. No, forget it not happening. Well,
I look, I'll give the benefit of the doubt, and
maybe you had a moment of clarity. You watched the
chaos go on. What do you really think that's gonna happen. Well,
that's the problem that I have with it, right in
a vacuum. James Harden coming to this epiphany himself is cool.

The problem is Dr Rivers is still there. So you know,
in the end, I think your ceiling is only so high.
But I look at that squad and you gotta like
what you have coming back on paper right relative to
the rest of the Eastern Conference. Right where we talk
about the knicks, we talked about other teams trying to
make moves. Right, No, you don't have anybody coming back

from some crazy injury here like you do in all
these other spots, right, everybody Middleton will be back and
he'll be just the same guy or better. Okay, maybe
maybe not. Go on down the line, Hey, this guy
resigned here, this guy might shuffle, you might have a trade.
There's still a lot to work out. Six Ers, at
least from a core perspective, are pretty good. So so

maybe James Harden has watched all the hot take nonsense
and w W e works from all the other members
of the NBA elite, including well one of his former teammates,
and just said, out of hell with it. You know,
if I win, I could be in those conversations too,
I got stuff to say. Hell my jerseys retired in
clubs nationwid So I don't know. I'll buy it for

a minute until it blows up. Right, you give up
a little, get a lot in theory later. Right, the
money is a whole other thing. It's more just the
the symbolism of it, the wired up and and maybe
to appease Joel Embiid a little bit, maybe because he
was getting salty towards the end, and maybe this causes

a reduction in friction there and that locker room. Now
I'll buy in. I still don't want him on my
team in in my eight hypothetical, you know which one
of these guys would you want? Of those veterans players.
But in terms of a movement made for you know,
some of the good and for part of it. You know,

he knows what damage he's done to his reputation, his career.
Maybe he cares, maybe he doesn't, But I'll at least
give him the benefit of the doubt because I'm feeling
benevolent here. You're like a seventies Sixers executive going, yeah,
let's go why not, Let's give him money. Let's give
you I know, we saw what he's been like the
last decade. Let's give him money. Let's look at it.
It's like you should be working for the James Harden
is like, oh, I wish this guy was on the Sixers. Oh,

he believed, he believed in me. Turning over a new leaf.
I want to get this armed guy in charge of
the team. Can I get him? Can I get Doc
Rivers to report to him he's gonna give me money? No, no, no, hey,
look at this. It started from a report of hey,

So I mean that's that's a pretty good starting point.

spend the entire show talking about Freddie Freeman. But you know,
pesky NBA. Uh, A big trade that went down today
as the Hawks trade in little Gallinari in three first
round picks to the spur Rs and the Spurs send
back all star guard Dejontay Murray. Uh. This is one
of those trades that twenty teams in the NBA saw

this and said we couldn't do this, like really, like
we we could. Why why didn't we do this? Why
didn't we call? Do we just not want to call Popovich?
Because it's like in fantasy when you're calling the guy
and you lead, you think, oh, he's just gonna ask
for an arm and a leg and I'm not gonna
make a trade with him. I mean, really, there's twenty
teams looking at this going they just stole a twenty
five year old All Star player who was a twenty
(20:30):
one and eight guy, and for some reason, the Spurs
decide we just can't make it work because we're not
good enough to be really really good and all Murray
is good enough is to keep us miserable or to
keep us just, you know, somewhat contending, but not really.
This is they stole him, They stole him from San Antonio,
And this is where so many teams are going, Why

didn't we call them? Why do we go the Knicks
had a much bigger pack? And why why couldn't the
Knicks give up more they wanted Dejon Murray? Why could
the Knicks said they had more, they had a better pack? Kids?
Then what the Spurs were offering to the Knicks I

I mean, there's so many teams going, why didn't why

guy away. I would have called for him. I can't

with him on Twitter? No, those are the fantasy reactions
that you had. Twenty teams, twenty teams just saying, how

first round picks, but their first round picks. This is
the twenty five year old star guard. Remember he's also
good a draft guys in the first round that won't

trade that really makes you stand up and take notice. Right,

your Hawks and what they could be. I mean, Dominique
Wilkins can give them two or three minutes a game,
one or two thunder dunks and you know, it takes
over to a whole other levels. Sure spud Web can
play a few minutes minutes from Kevin Willis and Doc Rivers. Yeah,

little bit and the best thing about being a point guard,

Because this is gonna vault the Hawks into the East Finals.

option of an all star player that is comfortable with
the ball in his hands, doesn't have to worry about
getting his own shot. He is comfortable. There. You have

two incredibly big options, and over the course of eighty
two games in the playoffs, there is more than enough
for both of these guys. I mean, really, this is
how good the Hawks are gonna be. Then they've become

where this is nothing but great stuff for them. They

great day for the Hawks because they went out and
got a guy that now suddenly you are thinking NBA Finals.
If you are that, you weren't thinking that before today.
You're thinking, maybe we bounced back next year. It wasn't
a great year for us. This year we can get
back to the team we were a year ago when
we beat the Knicks in the first round of the
playoffs and we were no. This is now you're thinking
you are NBA Finals type team with this trade. This

was an absolutely gargantuan deal. Well, you know my general rule,
and I've I've talked about it a lot. Those that
are new may may not have heard the analogy. And
and maybe you have one of these in your own family.
But my mom used to be the you know, save
it for good thing, Like every day was not a
reason to use a nice new towel set that maybe
someone had given her for the holiday, or when we

would go out and we'd find some cool blouse for
now that goes to the back of the car, back
of the closet, and I'll where it for good Well
what was good enough? Like, we didn't go travel a bunch,
we didn't eat out a ton, so it just kinda
would eventually be given away to goodwill. So it got
a home somewhere else, which was great, but mom never
used it. Likewise, here you're looking at you know, the

Atlanta Hawks are insert your favorite team in every sport.
I'm always for screw the future, right, You've got to
be cognizant of what's down the line, don't get me wrong. Right,
where the money is allocated, how much flexibility you have,
those things are important. But if you have a team
where you look at the Eastern Conference and you you
look at the players that are on the roster right now,

and you have the legitimate opportunity to maybe vault several
teams and give yourself a shot to playing into June,
what good are the picks? See what I did there? Lakers? Uh?
You know what good are those? Right? You go make
the move for now? And that's what the Lakers did.
They got their title and now they're in hell. But

they got that title. You take that back, Well, they're
they're the Lakers, so they they're hell. Do a different standard, right,
The Atlanta Hawks. What do you got spud Web highlights,
Dominique Wilkin highlights. And for you, Jason, you live in
that era where Doc Rivers was still running around with
that uniform. No, it's still not my f I passed
the ball to Kevin Willis not my fault. I gave

it to him, he didn't make a shot, not my fault.
That's that's not me. It's not me. Human highlight, real,

something that can push things to a guy who's older
and some future picks that you have no idea, because
remember the old thing. If you're not in the lottery,
what's the difference, right, how many of those guys are
impact players. Hell, even in the lottery, it's a crapshoot.

But once you get past that, like what's the value
most most of the time, and obviously everybody's gonna fire
off their outliers. They're gonna tell me about the second
round stars, the guys that took weird paths. I stipulate
that that's the fact I'm talking about. On the larger
sample size, we see it time and again. Al Right,
he got his guaranteed money. He was an end of
the bench guy, and his career ended after three years

or two years or a year or never even got
got out of the G league, right, I mean, there's
all of those stories that the NBA is rife with.
So here, yeah, make the big move and make Smith
happy so he can pick them to go to the finals. Again.
I'm telling you, man, they have an NBA Finals team
and they should waltz to at least the East Finals
next year. That's when you when you get that kind

of an impact guy. Again, I didn't know they were
giving them away. Where was everybody else? I have, hey,
you and then they're gonna they're gonna call the Spurs
and go they You could have called me with an offer.
I didn't know you're giving them away. You still should

circling on bringing back Magic Johnson to run the Laker.
Now they are circling Backmagic. What do you do? Then

back to bring d'angela right now, they have circled back
on Kyle because they have circled back to make a
trade for Buddy Healed, who they wanted last year. They
wanted to get him from Sacramento. Remember it came down
to Buddy Healed, Russell Westbrook, and Lebron in a d
said we want Westbrook. They got Westbrook. That went away.

The Lakers. Sure at this point where they take Buddy Hill, Yes,
also right, he is at a much lower level of
value than he was a year ago. He was already
dealt once like he had a he had a good
year last year, but already being dealt once. The Lakers
have that one bullet to fire of Taylor Horton, Tucker,

Kendrick Nunn to try like that. They've been trying to
give Taylor Horton any kind of deal. Hey you want

who with oh sorry, yeah, just come into the side

bad does it look? How bad does the optic look
for the Lakers front office? If they don't bring anybody in,

you have a bad team. You're bringing the same players back.
It's just gonna be different because of Darvin hamp No.
They need to do something. The only assets they have
is if they can move Kendrick Nunn, who's coming back
that that people had interest in last year before he
got hurt. And Taylor Horton Tucker, who they've been telling
everybody how good he is, but if it was really
that good, they would keep him. So they need to
do something. These are the only pieces they can move.

And if they're they realize they're stuck with Russell Westbrook,
they'll make a move like this and Buddy Hell will
be a guy that comes in and maybe they you
something crazy and it gets bigger. But he's a guy
they wanted they're talking about him, they have the assets
to go get him, and this is the one they
want to right that wrong from last year where he
was the missing piece coming in. He was the shooter

Lebron needed in the team needed. We're gonna go get
Buddy Hill. They have to do something. He's their guy.
They're going after him. Now, this is going to happen.
I feel very confident that at some point in the
next few days, Buddy Hell is gonna wind up being
a Los Angeles Laker. Look at you trying to be
all Joe positive. I did that at the beginning of
the hour, and you mocked me. And now you're saying
that suddenly because you're talking about James Harden actually actually

trying next season. Yeah yeah, And I'm telling you, if
if Indiana is looking to the future, is Taylon Horton,
Tucker and Kendrick Nunnery, is that the thing that's leading
them to the Promised Land? No? Right, I mean, look,

the Mets have made a big trade or you know,
anything else is going on, like the Knicks actually got
Jalen Bruds And so I was like, I'm good, I'm good.

Mets with the greatness of your non Alvarez and another
home run to bolster his a l m v P posse.
But that was good. I know, I know, I get

hurt today, but yeah, the world doesn't like me sometimes.
With that, we have figured out you know who else

See so now that's asked and answered. That was I mean,
that was the beauty of it. For four hours yesterday
we didn't have a lot of I told you, so's

to test, the test which way the wind is blowing,
like I'm not giving it any air. So I think
we mentioned Deshaun Watson for about thirty five seconds today

like this is this report is a waste of our
time to even debate at this, So we moved on
to other, more more pressing things. So you know, I'm
glad you're feeling better. A nice recovery because you got
some winn to do, you know, with your kids softball
and stuff, so we do. You don't have time to
be felled. And I got and I got free agency
tomorrow with the Knicks, man, I got, I got some stuff. Man.

Well you know what. We can talk about the Knicks
yesterday now let me as well. We did, but it
was it was fair and balanced coverage of the Knicks.
But let me just say this, because this is completely true,
before we get into James Harden. I am so incredibly
nervous that even though all signs point to Jalen Brunson
(04:44):
signing with the Knicks, everything the Knicks are doing, they
make the trades yesterday to all all for him, right,
all for Jalen brunn This is not hey, we have
no no, it's all for Jalen Brunson. There's quotes from
Rick Brunson, his dad add former Nick. Yeah, look how
close they are and how close they've been with Leon Rose. Yeah.

Look it's a faded company. They're getting Jalen Bronson. But
if they don't get him, this might be the most
embarrassing Nick's headline in a decade, where they have made
all these moves strictly for one player. We're doing this.
We're not doing this to go try to get to
(05:26):
John day Murray. But I no, no, no, Jalen Bronson's
our guy. He's he's Nick Royalty, right, come on, you
want you want to get Cleveland Royalty. He's Nick. Right.
I am so nervous that they're gonna botch this. And
suddenly the Mavericks are gonna swoop in and they're gonna
give him the money and he's gonna say, yeah, it's
where my heart is. They've done all of this specifically
(05:47):
to get him, and if they don't get him, this
this is the Knicks in a nutshell. This is the
Knick's entire friend. This is twenty years the Knicks summed
up in one storyline. They went all in, made trains
to move on. They wanted to get a guy whose
dad works for the Knicks, who played for the Knicks,
who his family has all kinds of ties with the Knicks.
If they somehow don't get him, that's how bad it is.

And I am ready for the embarrassment of that. I
am so ready for the because I'm like, it's it's
I feel like I'm so nervous that it's going to happen.
It's like I have to get that my mind right
with it, that hey bye bye by this time tomorrow,
I might have to deal with it. Yeah, I mean,
there were a couple of things with with Bronson, right.
Tim McMahon of ESPN and had the story that Brunson
(06:32):
could have been signed to a four year extension for
fifty five point five million dollars by Dallas before the season.
They didn't offer him an extension until well late. Uh
so it's like all I made it, no contract talk
after the season started. That was Rick Brunson talking about it.
And so now you're looking at the price of poker
(06:53):
being reportedly utter ten million dollars and everybody has jumped
as fast as they can to declare Jalen Brunson the
next big thing. Oh look what he's gonna be able
to do? It's like, we don't we don't know, right,
I mean, maybe maybe the playoffs are the pretend to
some breakout superstar to be, but you have no idea,
(07:14):
and it's the Knicks son their history. I gotta say
I'm a little bit skeptical, but grateful that we're going
to be around watch it all unfold and see the chaos,
you know as it is, Like today was just full
of story after story where you just laughed, go, oh,
how he wants to be that guy? So you know,
you have those kind of kind of things that may
(07:36):
look the NBA has just given us story after story
so we don't have to live in Baker Country. We
don't have to spend, you know, countless hours dissecting every
bit of bread crumb out there, if you know, to
see if we can sway public emotion in the Watson hearings,
No NBA silly season is upon us, and man, it's
(07:57):
kind of crazy Twitter And how about a fresk might
get swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best

say right away, I want everyone to see through the

headline of James Harden from today. Okay, see through the headline.
James Harden, in one of the first big moves of
free agency, has declined his forty seven million dollar option,
going to become a free agent, but he wants to
negotiate a new deal with Philadelphia that will allow them
to have roster flexibility to build a better team, including
(08:45):
use of the full ten and a half million dollar exception.
Hardness supposedly talked with the seventy six is about this
specifically since the end of the year. I want to
help them reshape the roster towards championship contention. Just for
a second, now, James hard and his team oriented. Now,
James Harden, his team oriented. Wasn't team oriented with the
Rockets when he decided I'm gonna blitz my way out
(09:07):
of there. No, don't want to be here anymore, don't
want to go to meetings, don't want to go. In fact,
when I've had it enough, I'm just gonna have a
press conference, say the situation is untenable, drop the mic
and walk away. No no, not that team, No, no, no, no, no,
but the Nets. James Harden team guy. No, not enough
to get in shape, not enough to actually show that
he can be a difference maker with the Nets. Doesn't
(09:28):
even make it eighty two games before the Nets have
to say, you know, we need a new guy because
you're not the guy. No, no, no, not that team
James Harden. Then the team James hardenho shows up in
Philadelphia is still not in shape, not the same dynamic player.
Philadelphia gets bounced from the playoffs. Oh now, now James Harden,
(09:48):
faced with forty seven million dollars and the last pay
day of his career. Now he's a team guy. Now
I want to help win championships. Now I've had had
that that that that moment of clarity that has come
to me. I've had that moment where I completely understand
the NBA. Now this is how we build and I
(10:10):
want to win. I've done that. Now my epiphany in
the NBA is here. No, this is a complete load
of crap and all he's going to do is sacrifice
ten or fifteen million this year. Hey, you take my
ten million, use it for the exception, get another good
player in here, and then have another year tacked onto
his deal for thirty five million dollars. So in the end,
(10:33):
instead of getting forty seven this year, he'll lose ten
or fifteen million this year to seem like I'm a
good guy getting it back. But you're gonna give me
thirty five million next year, right, because nobody else is
going to give James Harden thirty five million dollars. Nobody is.
And he knows it. He knows that he's at the
end of getting paid. Kyrie knows he's at the end
of getting paid. James Harden knows he's at the end.
So here's hard and hey, now I'm a team guy.
(10:55):
Now I'm a good guy. Now now I'm gonna help
everybody trying to win a championship because I James Harden,
da dada. No. All he's doing is saying, I'll give
a little bit back now, because this is how business works.
All right, I'll get ten or fifteen million less next year,
but the year after I'll get thirty five million and
it's thirty five more million than he was gonna get. Where.
(11:17):
You don't know what he's gonna get after the forty
seven million, the big paid days could could dry up.
Maybe the Sixers decide, yes, James Harden, you've used your
Jedi mind trick. We'll go a three year deal with
you and give you an extra thirty five million on
top of that. James Harden, Yeah, just see through all
of this crap. James Harden is not suddenly a team guy.
He's not suddenly someone that's seen, Hey, I've I've turned
(11:37):
over a new leaf in my life. Yeah, I've seen
it not happening. He's just going to try, because that's
why this is the story today of James Harden opting
out of taking less money so he can own that
part of Hey, I'm a good guy. And then it's
just gonna be Oh, I've convinced the Sixers to give
me more money than I would have lost, and I
come out ahead in the deal. That's all this is.
(11:58):
James Harden is not suddenly in you guy a new
NBA player and I've I've got I got a new
direction in mind life. No, forget it not happening. Well,
I look, I'll give the benefit of the doubt, and
maybe you had a moment of clarity. You watched the
chaos go on. What do you really think that's gonna happen. Well,
that's the problem that I have with it, right in
a vacuum. James Harden coming to this epiphany himself is cool.
(12:21):
The problem is Dr Rivers is still there. So you know,
in the end, I think your ceiling is only so high.
But I look at that squad and you gotta like
what you have coming back on paper right relative to
the rest of the Eastern Conference. Right where we talk
about the knicks, we talked about other teams trying to
make moves. Right, No, you don't have anybody coming back
(12:44):
from some crazy injury here like you do in all
these other spots, right, everybody Middleton will be back and
he'll be just the same guy or better. Okay, maybe
maybe not. Go on down the line, Hey, this guy
resigned here, this guy might shuffle, you might have a trade.
There's still a lot to work out. Six Ers, at
least from a core perspective, are pretty good. So so
(13:06):
maybe James Harden has watched all the hot take nonsense
and w W e works from all the other members
of the NBA elite, including well one of his former teammates,
and just said, out of hell with it. You know,
if I win, I could be in those conversations too,
I got stuff to say. Hell my jerseys retired in
clubs nationwid So I don't know. I'll buy it for
(13:31):
a minute until it blows up. Right, you give up
a little, get a lot in theory later. Right, the
money is a whole other thing. It's more just the
the symbolism of it, the wired up and and maybe
to appease Joel Embiid a little bit, maybe because he
was getting salty towards the end, and maybe this causes
(13:52):
a reduction in friction there and that locker room. Now
I'll buy in. I still don't want him on my
team in in my eight hypothetical, you know which one
of these guys would you want? Of those veterans players.
But in terms of a movement made for you know,
some of the good and for part of it. You know,
(14:12):
he knows what damage he's done to his reputation, his career.
Maybe he cares, maybe he doesn't, But I'll at least
give him the benefit of the doubt because I'm feeling
benevolent here. You're like a seventies Sixers executive going, yeah,
let's go why not, Let's give him money. Let's give
you I know, we saw what he's been like the
last decade. Let's give him money. Let's look at it.
It's like you should be working for the James Harden
is like, oh, I wish this guy was on the Sixers. Oh,
(14:34):
he believed, he believed in me. Turning over a new leaf.
I want to get this armed guy in charge of
the team. Can I get him? Can I get Doc
Rivers to report to him he's gonna give me money? No, no, no, hey,
look at this. It started from a report of hey,
they're not going to give him a max deal. Okay,
So I mean that's that's a pretty good starting point.
No blank, you you've gotten your Max deals, and now

we come to this. Why can't we have some positivity?
All right? Because you came back UK back from being

of those trades that twenty teams in the NBA saw

this and said we couldn't do this, like really, like
we we could. Why why didn't we do this? Why
didn't we call? Do we just not want to call Popovich?
Because it's like in fantasy when you're calling the guy
and you lead, you think, oh, he's just gonna ask
for an arm and a leg and I'm not gonna
make a trade with him. I mean, really, there's twenty
teams looking at this going they just stole a twenty
five year old All Star player who was a twenty

one and eight guy, and for some reason, the Spurs
decide we just can't make it work because we're not
good enough to be really really good and all Murray
is good enough is to keep us miserable or to
keep us just, you know, somewhat contending, but not really.
This is they stole him, They stole him from San Antonio,

didn't we call them? Why do we go the Knicks
had a much bigger pack? And why why couldn't the

option of an all star player that is comfortable with
the ball in his hands, doesn't have to worry about
getting his own shot. He is comfortable. There. You have

two incredibly big options, and over the course of eighty
two games in the playoffs, there is more than enough
for both of these guys. I mean, really, this is
how good the Hawks are gonna be. Then they've become

most most of the time, and obviously everybody's gonna fire
off their outliers. They're gonna tell me about the second
round stars, the guys that took weird paths. I stipulate
that that's the fact I'm talking about. On the larger
sample size, we see it time and again. Al Right,
he got his guaranteed money. He was an end of
the bench guy, and his career ended after three years

or two years or a year or never even got
got out of the G league, right, I mean, there's
all of those stories that the NBA is rife with.
So here, yeah, make the big move and make Smith
happy so he can pick them to go to the finals. Again.
I'm telling you, man, they have an NBA Finals team
and they should waltz to at least the East Finals
next year. That's when you when you get that kind

of an impact guy. Again, I didn't know they were
giving them away. Where was everybody else? I have, hey,

back to bring d'angela right now, they have circled back
on Kyle because they have circled back to make a
trade for Buddy Healed, who they wanted last year. They
wanted to get him from Sacramento. Remember it came down
to Buddy Healed, Russell Westbrook, and Lebron in a d
said we want Westbrook. They got Westbrook. That went away.

The Lakers. Sure at this point where they take Buddy Hill, Yes,
also right, he is at a much lower level of
value than he was a year ago. He was already
dealt once like he had a he had a good
year last year, but already being dealt once. The Lakers
have that one bullet to fire of Taylor Horton, Tucker,

Kendrick Nunn to try like that. They've been trying to
give Taylor Horton any kind of deal. Hey you want

who with oh sorry, yeah, just come into the side

offer more or less, So, Uh, this one may not
have the same laugh track to it, But is this
any closer to a reality? Uh? They have to do something.
They can't They can't do nothing, and that that's the
that's the point of the off season, is that how
bad does it look? How bad does the optic look
for the Lakers front office? If they don't bring anybody in,

you have a bad team. You're bringing the same players back.
It's just gonna be different because of Darvin hamp No.
They need to do something. The only assets they have
is if they can move Kendrick Nunn, who's coming back
that that people had interest in last year before he
got hurt. And Taylor Horton Tucker, who they've been telling
everybody how good he is, but if it was really
that good, they would keep him. So they need to
do something. These are the only pieces they can move.

And if they're they realize they're stuck with Russell Westbrook,
they'll make a move like this and Buddy Hell will
be a guy that comes in and maybe they you
something crazy and it gets bigger. But he's a guy
they wanted they're talking about him, they have the assets
to go get him, and this is the one they
want to right that wrong from last year where he
was the missing piece coming in. He was the shooter

Lebron needed in the team needed. We're gonna go get
Buddy Hill. They have to do something. He's their guy.
They're going after him. Now, this is going to happen.
I feel very confident that at some point in the
next few days, Buddy Hell is gonna wind up being
a Los Angeles Laker. Look at you trying to be
all Joe positive. I did that at the beginning of
the hour, and you mocked me. And now you're saying
that suddenly because you're talking about James Harden actually actually

trying next season. Yeah yeah, And I'm telling you, if
if Indiana is looking to the future, is Taylon Horton,
