The 29-year-old father of two has died in an 11-bike crash in the first lap of the British Supersport Championship.

An English 21-year-old also died and another rider was badly injured.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Darcy water Grave Sports store coasters with me right now, Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Darce, isn't it lovely coming into the studio when the
host says to you, it's lovely to see your face? Darcy?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hell kind Also, I was going to say, the color
combo that you've got going on well matched you hat
to your T shirt and that's an effort.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
And then you see you notice these air Max nineties
are also like a paler green with yellow and and
that matches socks. If you've got cameras in here, check
this out.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Oh lord, and the underwear, thank you very much, has
on these matches had in his T shirt.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, and it's gez.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Honestly, you're going to get a b s A about
that from me. Just say I went and bought a
pair of Ammax nineties. Isn't that a lovely retro kick
to cut to be fine? You can we talk about
now Shane Richardson, who's passed away. I understand from people
who understand motorcycling and stuff like that, he's a really

(00:57):
big deal in this particular field.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
He was running at the next level down the Supersport Championship,
just the supports to the British Superbike series so hard
for obviously the friends and the family, the young kids,
the wife. You can't what do you say.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Because he's young, isn't he about twenty seven to twenty nine?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Some sheer I believe he's twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Two kids. It's tough.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
It's and I'll keep saying that. I said this so
many times before. When you see a big axe in
a motorsport the amount of people out there go, yeah,
check that out, And I just get the sinking feeling
in my stomach.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Was it an eleven pilot?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
What happened? A rider lost control after the first right hand.
It was the third race of the weekend, and just
and that was just a domino effect after that, Yeah,
so ten other riders hit and yeah, unfortunately it's I

(01:57):
mean unfortunately, it's not the right word. It's he's lost
his life and he don't lose your life when you
go to play a game. But this is the thing
about motorsport is the ultimate sacrifice is not even in
your control. It can be moments away someone else made
the wrong call, someone else made that right and also

(02:18):
inches there's a Scott Dixon documentary which is fascinating, and
that's when he had a massive crash in Indianapolis, and
the car hit the pit wall and it missed his
cockpit by probably about a meter, and that was it.
Emma Davis Dixon, his wife, said, I saw that and

(02:39):
I thought, oh, it's my turn. I e it's my
turn to be a widow. Out of that whole film,
that's what I walked away with the most stunned.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
So so I imagine the people who love these guys
who do and it's generally guys who do this kind
of racing, the day that they retire as a very
happy day for everybody, for the family, for the people
who love them.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Now, the thing is, this is the sport that they love.
The adrenaline, the speed, everything that's integral to this sport
can also result in the ultimate sacrifice.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Totally listen. I'm speaking of it, of hurting yourself. And
what does it surprise anybody at all that rugby is
the sport that generates the most acc claims.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Probably not that I'll expect. Quite a few people jogging
would probably do themselves injuries, wouldn't they Because.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Once ran and fell over and broke his finger while
jogging while jogging.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Well, that's a lot of people doing ankles and doing
this now. But according to the ACC back in twenty
twenty four, one hundred and forty eight million dollars of
public money, yes for ACC for rugby players.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I think we should stop rugby. What do you think?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
No, no, it's just maybe Paud and Bill just ban
rugby fanners. Well no, no, I carry on doing it.
But we're so lucky in this country. We have a
system that if you break yourself, if you don't have
an like the advert you leaned up under the care.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Of because we're banning ciggies because we don't want to
pay for those people's healthcare. So remember you should ban
the rugger.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
What means you ban everything? Getting out of bed in
the morning, the running, you cannot move, It doesn't matter
what don't you did, your breathing. Don't do it cost
us money? Thank you? You know I did actually have
an R the other day. Did you have a big
like chainsaw and a pole? And I was chopping some
bushes down that I can't reach that one. I'll just
climb up, have an R.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
And who did the bushes?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Nobody? I'm looking up at this thing. It's annoying the
Bejesus out of me. But the thing is, I'm not
with a chainsaw lodged in me at the bottom of
the tree game. So that acc that campaign worked.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Because you, Darcy, Thank you very much appreciated Darcy water
