New Zealand's motorcycle racing community is remembering Shane Richardson as a fierce and passionate competitor.
The 29-year-old father of two has died in an 11-bike crash in the first lap of the British Supersport Championship.
An English 21-year-old also died and another rider was badly injured.
Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave weighed in on the collision.

in my stomach.

What happened? A rider lost control after the first right hand.
It was the third race of the weekend, and just
and that was just a domino effect after that, Yeah,
so ten other riders hit and yeah, unfortunately it's I

mean unfortunately, it's not the right word. It's he's lost
his life and he don't lose your life when you
go to play a game. But this is the thing
about motorsport is the ultimate sacrifice is not even in
your control. It can be moments away someone else made
the wrong call, someone else made that right and also

inches there's a Scott Dixon documentary which is fascinating, and
that's when he had a massive crash in Indianapolis, and
the car hit the pit wall and it missed his
cockpit by probably about a meter, and that was it.
Emma Davis Dixon, his wife, said, I saw that and

I thought, oh, it's my turn. I e it's my
turn to be a widow. Out of that whole film,
that's what I walked away with the most stunned.

So so I imagine the people who love these guys
who do and it's generally guys who do this kind
of racing, the day that they retire as a very
happy day for everybody, for the family, for the people
who love them.

Now, the thing is, this is the sport that they love.
The adrenaline, the speed, everything that's integral to this sport
can also result in the ultimate sacrifice.

the sport that generates the most acc claims.
