Speaker 1 (00:01):
George. I'm a homegirl that knows a little bit about
everything and everybody. You don't know if you don't lie
about that, right Lauren, Hey, y'all, this is Laura la
Rosa for the Latest with Laura Rosa. I am here
on the scene at the courthouse following Diddy being denied
bond for now what a third time, but this time
(00:22):
being after the verdict has come down. So we talked
about earlier Diddy being found not guilty on three out
of five charges, the Rico charge specifically not sticking. He
was looking at up to life for that Rico conspiracy
and it did not stick.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
He was convicted for engaging in transportation of individuals for prostitution,
two accounts of that. Now there's a conversation happening around
this bond being denied about you know this was this
fair or not. As we prepare to talk about that,
I want to take a look behind us, because what
you see are Diddy's children and Diddy's family are loading
(00:56):
into these sprinters. Now. When they left earlier from this
exact scene, the vibe was a bit different. You heard
people chancing free Diddy, you heard people cheering, You saw
them dancing I don't know if this will be the
same exact feeling when they are walking out this time,
only because the bond has just been denied. And obviously
that was a very emotional moment for his family who
(01:17):
thought that their dad, you know, their child's father, their friend,
their confidant may be coming home until his sentencing happened
in October. Now let's get on into it. So as
we came back up into court today, the judge went
right into it. The judge said, listen, I hear what
(01:38):
the defense is saying about him being allowed to be
able to go home until the sentencing happens. The sentencing
will be early October, right, And Diddy's team has actually
act for a speedy sentencing because the judge has just
heard and watched all of this information over the last
eight weeks, and they're like, while it's fresh in your mind,
we want to make sure that the sentencing happens soon
(01:59):
because with their going is, they're gonna want a very
They're gonna want a sentencing that has some empathy in it.
They don't want the judge to lose that right. The
judge made it very clear from the rip that the
bomb was denied he went into the reasoning and he
talked about the fact that there was additional violence with
Jane Doe following the indictment, following the fact that Diddy
knew that he was under a microscope. They talked about
(02:21):
the fact that in all of the other cases, and
Diddy's team argued this in their response, like they argued, down,
I wish I had a recorder so that you guys
could hear how Diddy's attorney pled and begged for him
to be able to go home once the bomb was denied.
But the judge that, listen, we're really talking about any
previous case, law, right. They brought up a few other
(02:43):
cases where a number one you know, Diddy team kept saying,
this is very exceptional, right, because the circumstances are so
different here, right, And they said it's exceptional because in
previous cases pimps were involved. Diddy is not a pimps.
And they made a point that like the you know,
in this one per particular case, the pimp that was
involved made over one point four million dollars did he
(03:03):
did not make any money off of his acts. They
also brought up the fact that normally in cases like this,
there are businesses, business entities that make money off of
the actions that happen in a ring like this or
in whatever. This is his prostitution thing that the judge
and the jury believe that Didd he is guilty of.
And they made it very clear the only person being
(03:25):
charged for this and that will serve time for this
and as serving consequence for this. There's no business entity here.
It is just Sean Colmes. So they tried to pose
those two US arguments. Did these team? The judge listened
and heard them out. Did He's attorney probably went for
a good twenty thirty minutes. He talks about his kids
being in the stands and you know his kids, you
(03:45):
know some of their mothers not being here, talking about
Kimporter and you know the tragic death of Keimporter and
them needing their dad around, And even that emotional plea
it did not work. The judge brought it right back
around and said, let us not forget where we left
off before you started this pleat his bond has been denied.
We basically the court is saying they are afraid that
(04:07):
Diddy is a danger to the community because of the
Cassie video, because of his blatant disrespect for the law
and the court and the government, and his actions following
the indictment coming down, including his incident with Jane, including
everything they found in the hotel room when he was arrested.
After everything went down, They're like, listen, we can't trust it,
and we won't. We will not. The craziest part of
(04:31):
this all is that the judge was able to cite
specific lines, specific lines from the defensive testimony where they
conceded to the violence, domestic violence, but violence that did
he did? I thought that that And even during that
I remember like the third line in did he looked
over his attorneys and there was one point where his
attorneys mentioned that did he wanted to speak to the
(04:52):
judge himself? And then Nicole Westmoreland, who is the black
woman attorney on did He's team got up and began
to go have a commerce with Diddy, and I'm assuming
she was kind of advising him on that if that
were to happen. It didn't happen. He didn't even get
the chance. The prosecutors stood ten toes down on we
will work with his team and the probation offices to
(05:13):
make sure that he gets a speedy sentencing because we
hear them, but it is a danger to the community
to release him, and the judge agreed Diddy will not
be released on bond. Tuesday, July eighth, there will be
a virtual hearing where they'll get on and discuss some
of the sentencing, just the logistics of everything and how
all that will work. But no, Diddy is not walking
(05:35):
free today. What's crazy about this? And just having conversations
outside of the courtroom one of the biggest things, because
I said it in my last video, I wouldn't have
been surprised if the judge had given Diddy a bond,
only because I felt like he had began to almost
be able to see the full scope of everything, like, yes,
these things happen. Yes he was caught right handed doing
(05:57):
some of these things. But the drug addiction come into play?
Did alcohol come into play? Bad decision making has been
in play from the very beginning, right, But I began
to weigh different things that the judge made wait because
obviously a jury weided they did not convict him on
some of the more serious charges, right the judge very
(06:18):
different story, very different story, And I'm not surprised that
it was denied. I've said in my earlier videos that
you also like this was brought up earlier. The violence
and the things that he did and his disregard for
the law were brought up earlier. That is literally the
reason and the judge ever brought this up the first
multiple times that did he was denied bond was because
of his violence that they saw on camera, and a
(06:42):
judge did not want to give him a chance to
endanger anybody else. So we will say lots. We will
stay here, we will stay on the case physically not here,
but y'all, I'm gonna keep yall updated with the latest
because that is what we do. Unfortunately, for his family,
they will not be celebrated on a holiday weekend with
their dad, with their grandpa, with their is he a granddad?
They ain't no granddad with their dad with their you know,
(07:03):
their their friend with their confidant. But you know, they
do still have sentencing to look forward to, and I
think Diddy's team made a really, really good argument about
making sure the sentencing happened fast while the judge has
all of these memories and test someone that's fresh in
his head, because what they're gonna want to hope to
is is that the sentencing is not harsh. So I'll
keep y'all updated. Make sure you guys check me out
