Speaker 1 (00:00):
Don't every day a week ago up the breakfast club.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
You'll finished for y'all done.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
It's the world most dangerous morning to show to breakfast club.
Charlamagne to god NV and jets on here. But Laura
Lero says, here, our guy Charlie Mac pulled up right.
You know Charlie Mac, he keeps, he keeps something going on.
And Charlie Max that he wanted to bring us some chocolate.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
We talked to us. Charlie Max, what is this great
premium chocolate, fine chocolate? Got my man sheet here? Sheet
is the CEO. What's up? She of BNAR Chocolate family,
very historical family called the Calabu family. Okay, talk to him,
talk to him. She Yeah, we came from Canada.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
We're about to launch our our products here here in
the United States.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
We do fine chocolates. We bought a company meet another
person back in two thousand and eighteen. But it's a
fifth generation chocolate here. His family has been doing chocolate
since nineteen eleven. Everything that we do is organic, natural,
premium products, premium ingredients. We do a lot of community
work out and back in Canada in terms of not
just like you know, being a company that is profit driven,
(01:00):
but we also focus on a lot of you know,
giving back to the community and making and making sure
that we're being impactful and what we do as a
as a cultural in our organization, like second third generation,
this is fifth generation. So yeah, yeah, So our guy
here is Bernard Calibo. He's a he's a so. So
the brand here is so we're launching a new brands
we do. It's called it's gonna be called Bernard. Just
(01:23):
like you know, we're you know, building off his legacy.
But you know, so we we bought an existing company
with him. He's been doing chocolates for forty years himself.
He's in Canada. But but like I said, he's a
craftsman and everything that we do is uh premium.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
How did you connect with Charlie Meck Charlie, I want
to get into.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Chocolate, Charlie.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
You know what, I'm gonna be honest with you. I
always like I hear about I've always been a candy guy,
but I'm not a lot. I'm not always like chocolate.
And then sugar, you know again, diabetes is big enough.
So for me when he told me it was no
like refined sugar, and I was like wow, and then
he talked about the community aspect of it. So for me,
that hit my heart, you know what I mean, I
kind of pulled the mardstring, like, okay, so we got
(02:01):
a healthy dessert. Yes, I'm saying, if you will, premium
dessert because when you taste it right like that that
you haven't tried it yet. But the gummy, the gummy
and chocolate gummy, it's a really rich kind of I.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Don't even like gummies and I've been tyrannies.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
You want, now you want? Like So for me, I
think the thing that really hit me was the community aspect.
Anything that's going to kind of give back, and that's
the thing he came to me with. At first, I
was like, okay, let's talk about it. And then like
I said, the sugar, we don't know in the community
because we use sugar and salt so much, it's like
it's killing on community. So for me, it was like, no,
there's no sugar, there's no there's no sugar.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Correct, Yeah, well no, no, no processed sugar.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
We don't use processed sugar. Healthy options. And then there's
so many benefits in terms of people having cancer and
things like that. In terms of what we're provided. So
it's not just I'm saying we give you chocolate, it's
benefits from the infused situation and so.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
And the reasons I guess, I guess with Charlie the
nice thing. So it was it was through someone from
from will Smith's temk. A friend of mine introduced me
to Charlie.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah, we've we've you know, been connected now for a
couple of years. But you know, now he's part of
our team and even our management team. Like we're we're
out there trying to you know, connect with people, different
people and you know, from different spaces. So as we
you know, do things in the United States, both with
our two companies, like the Infused Company and the regular
(03:21):
Chocolate company, that we're connecting with the right people and
we're finding ways to like being like I said, be impactful,
like you know, working with marginalized communities, inner city youth.
I did, like before I bought this company, I worked
for the Prime Minister of Canada for three years as
his main advisor for my province, which was Alberta. And so,
but I have have had different businesses in my whole life.
This is one that we bought eight years ago. I
(03:42):
left that job when I bought this company just because
it was a thing. But I guess when when whatever
we do, like we're trying to do, you know, you know,
I feel like even in the United States, like we're
doing we're doing cannabis, but I feel like, you know,
the you know, economic empowerment, trying to work with communities
that don't get the opportunities others do, others do, and
starts try to be and so we don't have like
(04:03):
all the answers on how we're gonna do it. So
we came with Charlie and even that was part of
the reason. We wanted to meet with someone like yourself
and talk about ways that we could you know, be
involved and actually be impactful, not just say, hey, we
do this just because it sounds good for marketing purposes,
but actually focus on the impact and let the the
you know, the money and the revenue will drive and
itself and will come and you know, everyone can can
make some profit. But I feel like there's there's more
(04:24):
to to to business and to to doing things in
life than that.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
And it's not cannabis. In is because Loauren then had
about eight ab thems.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
There's no cannabis in this so no wet we h
you're not even just one.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Would have stuck.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, So so we we brought this over from Cannadis.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
We don't.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
We don't because of the federal legalization rules. We don't
bring them over the border like that. But but we
we do make them in New York. We have a
facility in Warwick where we make cannabis edibles and we're
gonna be launching next month under so this Our chocolatear's
name is Bernard Calibo. The regular chocolate's going to be
called Bernard, and then the cannabis edibles will be called Bernie.
It's more of a playful It will be a play
a playful brand and impactful brand. So we look for
(05:00):
to that next month, to launching that.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
You want to try to press I want to try
to chocolate Charlie Charli about to have his own chocolate factory.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I'm gonna say, you know, about diversifying, we have to
do that right absolutely, And at this stage of the life,
I'm saying, we got to understand that everybody's not gonna
be well jay Z, right, so we gotta look at
business and a different degree and we got to perform same.
Think about us, A lot of things are kept from us,
you know, in terms of business, but there's a lot
of different opportunities. So for me seeing a person like yourself,
like Lauren, like myself to do something in the space
(05:30):
of chocolate, like something that we used every day all day, right,
but we never thought about ownership and never thought about
again from the space of Okay, you make money, but
then when you make the money, do you give back?
For me? Every time I'm saying, whatever is I do
in life, what's to give back? That's just what it
is for me, you know what I mean. If I
don't see a road back to giving back to my community,
then I really don't want to do that because it
doesn't matter to me that you're able to go ahead
(05:50):
and in the mask you know, great wealth and okay,
so now what are you doing with it? That's real,
you know what I mean. So and again we're gonna
do it. I'm talking about in terms of uh financial
but then at the same time helping people out just
going through anxiety, like you said, in terms of sleeping, right,
So when she she says it stabilizes them, you know,
what I mean. So he finds ways for him and
a lot of creative people. I'm saying they're dealing with
(06:10):
things anxiety and things like this is a situation where
it's still I don't go I don't go through it
per se, but I work in a space where a
lot of creatives and so to me, I'm like, it's
another way for us to kind of help them out
them And it says we're gonna go talk with a
couple of people. So we came together. It's kind of
bare gifts and and interact with people and see what
you think about them. Thank you?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
I'm trying to sell it, but more so like what
do you think about it? Honestly, it's good.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
I don't do gummy bears, but these milk chocolate cover
gummy bears, I would eat these. I would actually buy these.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
And I love chocolate covered pretzels to pass.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
It's my favorite.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Is so good?
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Okay, well you got another background, so well are we
gonna give you a whole camera? So what you do?
You bring a sample in? Because you don't know because
I look down the lobby and I'm like, okay, so
is this community out here with the books and things
like that, or is it like I'm saying, you could
kind of like, is it job books out there? Because
a lot of times people come here. I'm sure they
bring you a lot of stuff and you come here
you be like, wow, okay, over there is that these
(07:04):
gummies won't be sitting here, you know, it won't be
sitting there for Eddie. Yes, Grabb, well we got some
for Eddie too. But I'm just saying a lot of
some people are bring you products and they've been sitting
over the corner. You're like, okay, hear the last time, Cane.
So I don't want that, you know, one of some
I'm saying that people will Actually I'm saying this is
what I would actually utilize. I would pay she said,
I will pay for it if you haven't tried it yet.
But no, we want to bring some in the community
(07:26):
in the space that utilize it but helps people out
as well.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Is it in grocery stores or online or well so.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
In Canada, work across Canada. Here, we're going to be
doing it online through Amazon, so we'll be We'll be
launching our regular chocolates in the United States in about
about four months and the cannabis will be available and
dispensers across New York State.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
So they can't go order this now.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
You could from our Canadian site. You could, we could
from the Arcadian site. But we'll be doing it, you know,
with with with you know, just all the challenges and
shipping across the border, with with the tariffs and everything,
so where where you know. In about three months will
be the regular chocolates will be fully operative in the
United States.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
We thank you for bringing us. Appreciate you chocolate. Appreciate you.
I appreciate you, appreciate it. Thank you man.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Every day a week ago.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Pack your ass up the breakfast club.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
You're finish that.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Y'all done.
