Good Morning Owning.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Everybody is dj n V, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne, gud we

Speaker 10 (02:41):
Good morning me, Me, Good morning NB Jeff, Charlamagne, how

Speaker 4 (02:46):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (02:49):
So this morning marks day twenty two of the government
shut down, and for millions of Americans, the impact is
getting harder to ignore. Across the nation's airports, frustration is
also The FAA says nearly nineteen thousand flights were delayed
and more than sixteen hundred canceled between Saturday and Monday,
with the worst backups in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and Newark.

(03:11):
That air traffic controllers and TSA officers are still on
the job, but without pay. And it's not just airports
feeling the pain. This Friday, hundreds of thousands of federal
employees they will miss their first full paycheck since the
shutdown began, and starting Monday, federal courts will begin scaling
back operations. Meeting civil and criminal cases could be delayed

(03:32):
and staff furloughed as funding runs out and another important
deadline in just eleven days, several states say they will
no longer be able to fund Snap Food assistants, a
lifeline for more than forty two million families. Meanwhile, lawmakers
they are still at a standstill. The Senate failed for
the eleventh time to pass a short term funding bill
that would reopen the government to November eleventh, and the

(03:54):
House remains out of session. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
and House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries they have asked to
meet with the President, but the White House says that
Trump will not sit down with Democrats until after Congress
votes to fund the government, something Democrats call impossible without
his cooperation. When asked about it, the President doubled down, though,

(04:16):
saying he will not negotiate until the government is reopened.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Let's listen to what he had to say.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
You know, the country is.

Speaker 13 (04:22):
So hot right now, and they've never voted against you know, continuation.
They've never voted again, They've never done that. They're doing
this because they have Trump derangement syndrome.

Speaker 14 (04:33):
But I will I.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Would love to meet.

Speaker 13 (04:34):
I would like to meet with both of them, But
I said one little caveat. I will only meet if
they let the country open. If people want to go
back to work, they want to be served, they want
to they need the services of some people, and a
lot of people need the money the payroll. So I'll
do it as soon as they open up the country.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (04:57):
Well, while Congress goes back and forth over when they
will negotiate, the rebel effects are stacking up fast, miss paychecks, halted,
food aid layoffs, federal firings, and experts warned the country's
headed toward a crisis that we have never seen before.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
So yeah, in regards to the snapping food assistance man,
I am an ambassador for the Food Bank in New
York City.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I also do work.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
With the Hope Center in Charleston, South Carolina, So I
would encourage everyone to find a food bank of food
pantry in your.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Area and do what the government isn't doing.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
And that's tossed him a couple of couple of dollars
if you haven't despaired, because you know, trust me, things
all about to get really real out here.

Speaker 10 (05:33):
Absolutely, And while millions of Americans are waiting for their
next paycheck, President Trump says he's the one who's owed
money two hundred and thirty million dollars, to be exact,
and he wants the Justice Department and to cut the check. Yep,
So he's filed a formal complaint seeking compensation for what
he calls years of wrongful investigation dating back to the

(05:53):
Russier probe in twenty sixteen and the mar Lago Classified
Documents case. Now, both cases were dropped after Trump returned
to the White House, but now that he's back in office,
the President says those investigations hurt him financially and personally,
and he believes that he is entitled to damages. Now,
the tricky part is any payout would have to be
approved by Justice Department officials that he appointed himself, including

(06:17):
some of whom worked on the cases that we're just
we're talking about right now. So during a press conference
at the White House, Trump joked about the unusual situation.

Speaker 15 (06:26):
Let's listen, but look.

Speaker 12 (06:28):
What they did.

Speaker 13 (06:28):
They ring the election, and as you know, we had
in one case sixty minutes how to pay us a
lot of money. George slot Medoppolis had to pay us
a lot of money that they already paid. You know,
they paid me a lot of money because what they
did was wrong. And you know when somebody does what
wrong now with the country, it's interesting because I'm the
one that makes a decision, right and you know that

(06:51):
decision would have to go for us my desk, and
it's sorefully strange to make a decision where I'm paying myself.
In other words, to get to have one of those
cases where you have to decide how much you're paying
yourself and damages.

Speaker 12 (07:03):
But I was damaged.

Speaker 13 (07:05):
Any money that I would get I would.

Speaker 12 (07:07):
Give to charity.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Man, if he wasn't the president in real life, he'd
be my favorite movie villain.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Do you hear me?

Speaker 6 (07:12):
Trump wants reparations and he's gonna get it because the
Justice Department is his.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
He said, I gotta pay him.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
How much I'm gonna get myself, which is a weird
situation that.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
White house ballroommate go pay for itself. Trump really deble
what you got on his ballroom? Homie?

Speaker 6 (07:26):
What you got on his plane? Okay, this is crazy.
You realize how unprecedented this is.

Speaker 10 (07:34):
We are in uncharted territory for real, a sitting president
asking his own administration to pay him millions for investigation.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
And he gonna get it.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yes, I wish I could ask for reparations for myself.
Yeah you can't.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
He gonna get get it.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
Every his Justice Department, like he just come essentially trying
to figure out how much to right myself. Oh, it's unbelievable.
It's unbelievable. All right, some believe I've never seen anything
like it.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yep.

Speaker 10 (08:03):
Well, we will continue to watch that Justice Department. They
declined to comment on that. So coming up at seven,
a new study says we're giving too much of our
energy away to texting.

Speaker 15 (08:13):
We'll tell you why.

Speaker 10 (08:14):
We'll tell you why, and why that's taking a bigger
toll on your energy than you think.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
I'll tell you one thing this second Trump term is
make America griff again. Okay, this is the great American
Griff ain't even a griff. He's just like, YO, give
me me man, all right, I need a little bit
of everything.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It hasn't even been a full yeah yet.

Speaker 6 (08:28):

Speaker 11 (09:28):
I worked at all these you know that. Just the
food story. Yeah, yeah, I worked with a distributor. Well,
long story short. They kept messing with me, they kept,
they kept, they kept, like all right, they kept putting
me in the freezer and tell me I was your
best best forklift operator. But you give me the worst
ring to work with the worst people. And you're doing
it on purpose because they know how I get and

(09:52):
I let them get me like that.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Well, listen, don't do anything crazy. You'll find another job.

years up here.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
I listen the Madden level. Just on that right now.
You know what I'm saying. But you know it's America.

Speaker 12 (14:03):

Thank you, my brother. I appreciate you.

Speaker 14 (14:13):
Man.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Hello, who's this Hey, good morning.

Speaker 12 (14:16):
This is Crystal.

Speaker 7 (14:16):
Call it from Norfolk Crystals.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I'll be out there this weekend.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
What's up with you?

Speaker 20 (14:22):
Hey?

Speaker 21 (14:22):
Good morning, y'all, Good morning, Charlottegne just peace, gay and
I just wanted to share, like I'm so frustrated with
this situation going on with the governments.

Speaker 12 (14:32):
I'm a federal worker. I've been a federal.

Speaker 21 (14:34):
Worker for seven eight years. We've been through this before with.

Speaker 12 (14:37):
Shutdown, but it has been nothing like this. It's so chaotic.

Speaker 21 (14:41):
I work in the operating room.

Speaker 12 (14:42):
We are mandatory staff.

Speaker 21 (14:44):
We still have to come to work, and we know
we're not getting paid.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
When the last time you got paid.

Speaker 21 (14:50):
So we've got a partial pay check. The last time
we got paid, so it was two weeks ago. We
got a partial paycheck, but my check was short, almost
a thousand dollars.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
Lord have mercy, So you were you able to take
care of your rent this month and your car note
and all that stuff like that.

Speaker 21 (15:04):
I was, thankfully I'm in a situation where my fust
work and sty able to take care of that stuff.
But there are a lot of people I work with
that have two federal workers in their household. You know,
their their income come from the federal government, so nobody
can take I know people that a personal summer loans
to take care of that, and so they don't get
in per se.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
I don't think people realize, like I think it's what
sixty seven percent of the country is living paycheck to
paycheck absolutely, so they don't understand how this government shut
down is impacting whole households. Like she just said, one
check throws everything off one missing check.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Absolutely, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 21 (15:40):
Well, here we're trying to work two jobs, trying to
uber and then the cherry on the cake is it's
still supporters of this administration at work and we got
to sit air listen to them justify how it's a
Democrat cau like. It's ridiculous. I'm so going to work
this morning, every day. I know I'm not getting paid
to get harder and.

Speaker 12 (15:59):
Harder to go in.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
But that's what I don't understand.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
Number one, I don't understand how Democrats are losing in
the messaging game when it comes to something like this
when Republicans control every you know, branch of government. And
I don't understand how those people even care whose part,
whose fault it is when they're just not getting paid.

Speaker 12 (16:15):
That's that's it.

Speaker 21 (16:16):
But anyway, thank y'all, y'all have a good day.

Speaker 12 (16:19):
Thank you for letting me today.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Absolutely get it off here, y'all. It is really really
real out here.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
Eight hundred five eight five. We got to lead this, Laura,
come it up.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
We do.

Speaker 22 (16:30):
With all that going on, the White House has had
to take some time to respond to Diddy in the
conversations about.

Speaker 23 (16:35):
Him being commuted.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Okay, what he say.

Speaker 23 (16:38):
No, we're gonna talk about it when we come back.
They said some things just say.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
No, oh my god, like, oh my, that'll be crazy.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
We'll talk about.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Even care. Were like, yeah, okay, well.

Speaker 7 (16:52):
We'll get to that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning,
the Breakfast Club, coming straight back. She gets somebody that knows,
somebody get into detail.

Speaker 23 (17:06):
I'm a home girl that knows a little bit about everything.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
She'd be having the Latest on.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
The Law, The Latest with Lauren La Rosa.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Sometimes you have.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
Fact, sometimes you have details. Sometimes you have a little
bit of everything. It's the Latest on the Breakfast Club.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Talk ll cool bab Brandia, good morning.

Speaker 11 (17:23):
Now.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
You know Ice running down on people for wearing counterfeit
goods now?

Speaker 22 (17:28):
It is fun, Yes, it is because I care about
her animals, about animals when you need to be caring
about not getting sick.

Speaker 9 (17:37):
And you look here, you look nice, but put something on.
I don't need you coming in here coughing and sneezing and.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
All of that.

Speaker 8 (17:42):
It's a layer and it's October. Don't cough char.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
That you dirty come his mouth?

Speaker 3 (17:47):
You see that right?

Speaker 23 (17:47):
No, he don't cover nothing. He's just all over there,
all right.

Speaker 22 (17:51):
So let's get into the latest, because the White House
has had to take the time to come out and
dispute the fact that President Trump may be muting Diddy
this week. So you guys, remember we reported that TMZ
spoke to a high ranking White House official who they
say told them that as early as this week, Shawn

(18:11):
COLMBS Diddy could be commuted by Donald Trump. So a
high ranking White House official came out yesterday and said
there's zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would
have gladly explained had they reached out before running their
fake news. The President, not anonymous sources, is the final
decider on partons and commutations. Now, after this statement hit,

(18:31):
TMZ went back and updated their story in their headline
and they're standing by the report. So they posted the
White House Communications Office is saying our story is not true.

Speaker 23 (18:41):
We stand by our story.

Speaker 22 (18:42):
Our story is accurate, and that headline and that update
is still on the site as of this morning. Now,
I had reached out to the White House trying to
get a statement from them.

Speaker 6 (18:51):
White House, how you just reach out to.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Connections. You got connections, dad.

Speaker 22 (18:59):
Right, But also there's a communication office. Okay, so the
White House did not respond to me. I did try
again this morning. Maybe it's because you're sleazy, you know,
they don't like you. But there, I thought that their
email was interesting. Has nothing to do with Diddy, but
I just thought it was interesting. Their email response that
is automatic, says due to staff shortages resulting from the

(19:19):
Democratics shut down, the typical twenty four seven monitoring of
this inbox may experience delays. We asked for your patience
as you worked through this matter. As you await your response,
Please remember this could have all been avoided if the
Democrats voted for the Clean Continuing Resolution to keep the
government open.

Speaker 5 (19:34):
The press, the press.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
All that came into email.

Speaker 22 (19:36):
Yes, the Press Office cannot accommodate requests or ask or
emails at this time.

Speaker 23 (19:43):
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
Oh yeah, that's on government websites and everything. Yeah, their messaging.
You don't got to like them as a party, but boy,
they're messaging. Is they want When they want to be
the narrative into your head, they will. And the narrative
is the government is shut down because of the Democrats.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
So Diddy is is We don't know if Diddy is
might or might not be getting pardoned.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Possibly it was on this desk. Possibly it's not. We
don't know.

Speaker 22 (20:07):
So this happened before y'all remember that his attorneys reached out. Ye, No,
they went on. They did interview saying that they were
having conversations with Trump, and then they did other interviews,
probably the same week, saying oh, no, no, no, we're
not having conversations with Trump.

Speaker 23 (20:19):
I think that there is something happening.

Speaker 22 (20:21):
Behind the scenes, but it keeps making news and somebody
doesn't want it to so it.

Speaker 7 (20:24):
Shouldn't they know. That's what I said the other day.
Why are they talking about it? Just be quiet, do
what you gotta do, and when it's done, you know
it's done.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
Is it true that they be charging for pardons. I
don't know if that's a real thing, but always hear
that right, and it wouldn't surprise me coming from this administration.
But I know whatever they charging, they gonna charge double
for Diddy plus tax.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Been so critical of Trump.

Speaker 22 (20:46):
Yeah, and there are some reports right now which I
did reach out next to the White House about having
her back at I saw a report that Trump is
also considering taking us off the table, not doing it
because he's worried about his response from his base, because
Diddy has like publicly like dragged Mega and him.

Speaker 23 (21:02):
They don't he's from the report.

Speaker 22 (21:04):
According to another White House source official, he's taking us
off the table because he doesn't want the backlash from
the Mecca Rise.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (21:13):
Now, in other news.

Speaker 22 (21:15):
Kevin McCall, he's talking about being on EBT right now
because he says Chris Brown owes him money. Let's take
Chris Brown, you gir your man. Let's take a listen
to Kevin Max Max.

Speaker 24 (21:27):
I got an eb T car that brow in May
ninety whatever the million, and they say kkkkk Matt, can
I get twenty five thousand for them folk songs?

Speaker 4 (21:37):
I owe you?

Speaker 11 (21:38):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
I just want to leave Broup to who he is.
I'm not even tripping though.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
I got an eb T car, like what the bro?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I can't even get nothing, bro, man, I want.

Speaker 24 (21:48):
To see the car here so I can think I'm
a man.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
That's a fair.

Speaker 13 (21:56):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Hey, that's why man, Hey, damn bro.

Speaker 24 (22:05):
I had to go up and that mother hide my
face with the bells like COVID bro, like every every money.

Speaker 18 (22:15):
Call.

Speaker 8 (22:16):
What's crazy is he ain't even out there that that
is crazy.

Speaker 22 (22:20):
Yeah, oh yeah, because everything that's happening with the Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I respect the honesty though.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
I mean there's a lot of people in the industry
probably in the same boat. That's why I be encouraging
folks to go to trade school. Okay, because with the
way the economy is going now, you're about to see
a lot more people in the industry having to be
honest like that. I thought COVID was gonna be with
you know, pushed a lot of artists to that. But
you know, the PPP loans came in, the stimulus checks
and all the other small business loans, and people was
able to front a little while longer. But boy, the

(22:46):
way things are right now.

Speaker 9 (22:48):
But Kevin recall need a little bit more than you know,
trade school. He needs some help, like you need to
see somebody you've been been needed help.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
But the crazy thing about this, they've been having this
conversation for like ten fifteen about this, and Chris said
he paid him, and Kevin said that he wasn't paid,
and he wasn't paid right whatever the situation like royalties
and publishing and all of that. Because his name is
on deuces, he's a featured artist on Duces and he's
a featured artist on Strip.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
Yeah, well some big records. I know them records made
some money and they definitely got big roady.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Checks recroduces what two three times platinum? I think the
Strip is platinum. So yeah, but I just you know,
when you signed contracts, I don't know you know who
signed off or what it was.

Speaker 22 (23:26):
I was about to say, you got to kind of
know the business behind and how that was, like, you know,
set up whatever. Well, Chris Brown has seemingly responded. He
posted on this instant story last night remember this. You
can't walk across a burnt bridge. And you know what's
funnier than a troll, A broke one with a like
the side smiley face. Young Thug also saw the interview
and he posted to his ex account, Kevin McCall hit me,

(23:47):
I'll give you the twenty five K you need, and
I know C B would give it to you. Also,
bro he a real one. He said, people are just
busy sometimes, my brother.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I mean, Chris is right, you can't walk across the
burnt bridge.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
But if I owe you, I don't know if he
owes him or not, but if I do owe you Bridge, Burtha,
and I'm gonna still give.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
You what I was.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
But they've been going back and forth for years and
it's been nasty.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
It hasn't been like a you know, hey, you owe
me this money figured out on caught like they've been nasty.

Speaker 22 (24:11):
But even when it's come saying though, why not caught
like what I'm saying, you go to legal and other places.
In the interview, he was talking about things even with
like his daughter that he shares with even myself, and
he says he hasn't seen her in like years. At
this point, he was talking about to start the legal process.
It's a couple hundred dollars, but financially he's dealing with
so much other stuff. He says, the last little bit

(24:32):
of money that he got he bought his mother house
and he paid whatever he could and back through child support,
and he's kind.

Speaker 23 (24:37):
Of at his end right now.

Speaker 22 (24:38):
Like so I don't think, you know, financially it he
can do court right now from how it seems in
this interview.

Speaker 7 (24:44):
So I'm sure Kevin. Kevin will be calling us later
on today.

Speaker 9 (24:48):
What I'm saying, he reaches all lot, He reaches out
all the time. Oh okay, but with the last little
bit of money.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
I don't remember what you thought he was. Let check
your Instagram.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
I guarantee you hit you on your Instagram.

Speaker 9 (25:02):
Yeah righte texing my phone like I know, Kevin, Kevin
to school whatever. But you know, but the last bit
check that he had he brought his mother house. Mom
would have been living with me, especially if you was
this a long time ago?

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Was this?

Speaker 22 (25:14):
He didn't specify the year, But I also too don't
know what the circumstance was that his mom was, like
you know what I mean, like what her situation was
that he needed to go like get her that crib
with the money that he said he.

Speaker 6 (25:23):
Had better not look at that video and chuckle or
know anything, because that could be anybody at any given moment.
Now what industry you in, I don't care what it
is you do for a living, That could be you
in two seconds.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 22 (25:38):
Wishing him the best, I mean, and that he gets
on the phone with Young Thug because seems like Young
Thug wants to help him.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
That's good.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
I'm proud of Young Thug for doing it. That's what's up.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
That helps him?

Speaker 7 (25:48):
Yes, yeah, all right, all right, when we come back,
we got front page news that was the latest who
Lauren's breakfast Clug morning warning.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Everybody is DJ Envy just hilarious.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
Charlamagne to God. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get
back some front page news.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Me mee?

Speaker 10 (26:02):
Good morning Envy, Josh, char La Maage, how y'all doing.

Speaker 12 (26:04):
Good morning girl, Good morning.

Speaker 10 (26:06):
All right, well we start this hour in New York
City where a federal raid on Canal Street erupted into
chaos as ICE agents moved in and crowds fought back. Now,
the sidewalks of Canal Street, usually packed with vendors selling
knockoff handbags and watches, turned tents that witnesses say agents
they swarmed the area, ordering people to clear out. As
shoppers and vendors they scrabbled to grab their belongings.

Speaker 15 (26:29):
Panic spread.

Speaker 10 (26:30):
People ran in every direction, some falling as they tried
to get away, and also shouting at officers. Now, federal
officials say the operation was part of Homeland security investigation
into counterfeit goods, which agents from IC, the FBI, the
ATF they were on the ground to help out with,
but witnesses described the scene as a standoff with armed

(26:51):
agents in military style trucks moving through the area, and
Department of Homeland Security says at least one protester was
arrested for assaulting a federal officer, and the NYPD says
it had no involvement at all in the raid, but
by evening protesters they gathered outside of twenty six Federal Plaza,
where detainees were reportedly taken the calling what happened a

(27:13):
show of force, an unnecessary force and terrifying for immigrant workers. Now,
at a press conference, city officials, they condemned the raid,
calling it shameful and an overreach of federal power. Let's
listen to that.

Speaker 7 (27:26):
There is no excuse for sending military style vehicles and
a national law enforcement response for street vendors.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
None of this is about public safety.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
It is about fair and chaos.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
Ordinary New Yorkers on their way home are coming home
stood up and.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Said what you were doing is shameful.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
And ICE's response to that was escalation and violence.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
So I didn't know ICE gets involved with folks wover
counterfeit goods like ain't.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
Well, it's legal immigrants. They're saying that people that are
selling the count offit goods or legal immigers.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
That's never noticed it. I'll be that we be down
there all the time, we used to work down there.
I never, you know, noticed they were illegal immigrants.

Speaker 7 (28:04):
But I mean, you don't know who's illegal, l who's not.
You don't know who's illegal people paperwork.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
What is an illegal immigrant.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
What I'm trying to say is I don't see a
lot of Mexicans out there. That's what I was trying
to say.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Oh wow, not be Africans out there at all.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yes, that's what they were, some of them illegal, that
is true.

Speaker 10 (28:24):
They were asking for passports, they were asking for identification.
Video shows, you know, people who look to be African
being arrested, people who look to be Asian being arrested.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
So that's been going on for years.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Like they've never hid, like they out there in broad daylight,
like they're not high.

Speaker 7 (28:41):
Every they run that cops are coming to. Everybody just
just scattered. But yeah, they've been there for like you said.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
Forever, good laid out on the sidewalk like yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Do want y'all to know too.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
If Mundannie gets elected, you're gonna see stuff like that
all the time. It's gonna be military in the street,
it's gonna be ice agents, every federal authority you can
think of. I saw Trump yesterday speaking from the White House,
and Trump was like, you know, you know, it looks like,
you know, mun Donnie's gonna win. But you know, remember
everything goes through the White House. And he was like, well,
at least this White House it does. I was like,

(29:13):
damn yeah, and it don't. By the way, everything's not
supposed to go through the White House from on a
local level. But he's letting you know, Madnni becomes mayor
of New York City, were gonna be were gonna be there.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
I'm on your I'm on your ass.

Speaker 10 (29:26):
Absolutely well. Yesterday's event wasn't an isolated incident. In Los Angeles,
there was a separate ice operation that left two people shot,
including a TikToker and a US marshall. And in Chicago,
another raid led to another dramatic scene. And in Chicago
they now have to wear or A federal judge has
ordered them to wear body camera video to limit the

(29:49):
and limit the use of tear gas. So ice rays
happening all over the country and a warning for parents
this morning. It's a game that millions of kids play
every day, but Florida's a Toorney General says Roadblocks has
become a breeding ground for predators. He's now issuing criminal
subpoenas to the company, accusing the popular online gaming platform

(30:10):
of failing to protect children from sexual predators. Now investigators
say predators have used Roadblocks to communicate with and groom minors,
even bribing them with the game's virtual currency known as
roebucks to send explicit photos and video. Now, experts warn
is part of a much bigger problem that stretches beyond Florida.
The subpoenas will now allow prosecutors to dig deeper, searching

(30:33):
for evidence tied to suspected predators, victims, and whether the
company failed to report abuse or put proper safeguards in place. Now, Roadblocks,
which has seventy million daily users worldwide.

Speaker 23 (30:46):
Says it takes safety very seriously.

Speaker 10 (30:48):
In a statement, the company said it blocks images and
video sharing, filters private information, and uses AI tools to
monitor harmful comment content. But still the pressure is mounting.
Lawmakers in both California and Louisiana have already filed lawsuits
accusing the company of not doing enough to stop predators,
and dozens of families across the US are now joining

(31:10):
in similar lawsuits.

Speaker 8 (31:12):
It's crazy, very crazy. But you know, I shout out
to the people.

Speaker 9 (31:15):
I don't know if you have ever seen the people
will take mad into their own hands where they have
this these group of guys they'll pose his kids like
on these games and they catch predators like that. I
don't know what they do with them, but like they
catch them and then they act like they want to
meet up with the person and then they actually stream
themselves meeting up too.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, they don't get hurt. Yeah, yeah, I know, because
they're not.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
I mean, I love the fact that they're catching these
nasty ass individuals, but they don't get to the point
they're not police, but they're gonna get themselves hurt. But yeah,
I love the fact that they all catch these these now.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
But they don't never catch them and beat their ass,
Like you know, that's the only thing I never used
to like about Chris Hansen.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
It's like, don't just catch him.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Sometimes they do.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
Like sometimes there's a group of guys that so when
they be doing it, but they also get locked up
doing it too because they stream theirselves doing Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
But yeah, they need to get some white white vigilantes.

Speaker 6 (32:08):
Yeah, yeah, get about three or four white vigilantes with them,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
So it looks like a collaborative.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, I watch it all the time, and I love
how these.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
People but that's all.

Speaker 9 (32:21):
Yeah, but they can still do it that these people
need to be in jail, like trying to lure these kids.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
And the police station.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
Oh yeah, yeah, I got no problem with with with
both forms of justice.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (32:34):
And so while parents are worrying about how kids use technology,
adults aren't off aren't off the hook either. So a
new study, I don't know if y'all do this, but
I know I have been caught doing this. The new
study says the way we communicate online maybe stressing us
out more than we realize. So if you've ever found
yourself accidentally arguing with someone over text and suddenly you're
five paragraphs deep and it's way too late to call, well,

(32:55):
researcher say, there's a reason that that happens. They found
that arguments over tech last three times longer and get
four times messier than when people talk face to face.
So the study, which was published in the Journal of
Social Relationships, it says that it all comes down to
what's missing, tone, body language, and real time feedback. Without
those cues, messages can get misread, emotions run high, and

(33:18):
what could have been a quick disagreement now turns into
a full blown text method message marathon. So if you
guys ever found yourself like standing and steel, like stand
and steel, just texting with somebody over an argument.

Speaker 9 (33:31):
Yeah, because you forget certain things that you said, like oh, dang,
I gotta say this.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
So yeah, you got to Yeah.

Speaker 9 (33:38):
And when you and in the moment and you argue
with somebody face to face, you on a spot right there.
Nah you get let me give me like a couple
of minutes. I'm gonna send you some Yeah, get you
rock now.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
You you're stupid. But I need to call you. You
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
I don't even like all you over the foor. I
need to look at your face to face and see
you in the eye. You know what I'm saying. That's
what I like.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
There's nothing better than that.

Speaker 9 (33:57):
I like both, but I like textus by and then
blocking them so they can't respond when they see me.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
I just called somebody like that too.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
I've been waiting.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
I've been waiting a few years to catch this person.
I caught him too, boy. I called him and I
called it and the Crazy Party. When they saw me,
it was like, y'all need to talk to you. And
what threw me off is that they act like they
had something to say to me, and I was like,
how what are you? It felt so good to get
it off. Wow, Oh it felt so good.

Speaker 10 (34:26):
All right, y'all. Well, that is your front page news.

Speaker 7 (34:38):

Allen will be joining us and we'll be talking to
her next.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
You don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning,
The Breakfast Club, Good morning everybody.

Speaker 7 (34:49):
It's DJ Envy, Just Hilarius, Charlamagne the guy. We are
the Breakfast Club, lonl the Roses here as well, and
we got a special guest in the building, a.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Legendary, the legend.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Some guests a special. Some are legendary and iconic.

Speaker 7 (35:03):
That's right, and we have the iconic, the legendary, Miss
Debbie Allen.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Welcome, thank you, good morning. How are you feeling? I
feel really good.

Speaker 18 (35:13):
I'm on New York Time, I'm on New York Air.
I'm feeling good to be in New York. I like
I missed the city. Every time I come. It's so
much happening. Saturday morning, I woke up and there was
this big protest outside the whole. I heard all this
noise and I looked down and there was like half
a million people in Times Square. And then I went

(35:34):
to new restaurants and.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
Saw new shows, two new shows.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
I love New York absolutely.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
Yeah, condolences too on the loss of your mother.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Absolutely.

Speaker 5 (35:47):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
Absolutely.

Speaker 6 (35:49):
And I was I was thinking about you when you
was coming in man, because you know, you've built such
a legacy, you know.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Broadway, television and film.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
When you think about the word legacy, now, does it
mean what you've done or who you've helped?

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Do it after you?

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Oh? Well, you know what I would have to say,
who I'm.

Speaker 18 (36:08):
Helping, because that's real legacy. You know, I have so
many hundreds of kids that I'm educating at the dance
school and across around the world with the you know,
the Internet has allowed us to be international, you know,
we can have these ig classes. Yeah, legacy, I think

(36:30):
has to do with the future and what see if
you're planning, what path you have lit that helps people
find their way.

Speaker 7 (36:38):
When you started dancing and you got into drama, did
you know that that was going to be your career?
Did you know that was that? Because even to this day,
you know, I have kids, I was telling you that
dance and I always think to myself, well, what does
dance take them to? But then when I look at
your career, I'm like, there's no there's so many possibilities.
Did you ever think that that was going to be
a career.

Speaker 18 (36:58):
I was determined that four years old that that was
going to be my career because we were watching television
and we would watch musicals would come on every Saturday morning,
and I so wanted to replace that Shirley Temple honey.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
I wanted that.

Speaker 18 (37:13):
To be me going up and down those steps with
Bill Robinson and all those glorious musical films.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
I saw myself in that world.

Speaker 18 (37:21):
And then it was a challenge to get the training
in the segregated South.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
Where I grew up. But Mom was always very resourceful
and she.

Speaker 18 (37:31):
Found ways, and yeah, I think children can see themselves
and this is why you have to make it possible
for them by letting them see other things. I remember
when Mom wouldn't let me go to the circus because
she wanted me to go and see this East Indian
dance company. And I was kicking in screament. I want
to see those clowns and those lions. But when I

(37:54):
saw that dance company, I saw a whole nother language
of dance that I didn't know I had not seen
I was probably eight years old. But this is why
we have to expose our children to more, which is
why right now we need more and more and more education,
more cultural problem programs for children, art programs, and just

(38:16):
take them on those field trips, take them to see
art exhibits, take them to see dance concerts or music
concerts or you know, little plays at the why anything
that is outside of the box of the video games,
sounds of it all and television. Mom used to make

(38:36):
us think that the television was broke, so we would
take our butts outside.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
That's what makes it so important to DEBI ALA Dance Academy, Right.

Speaker 5 (38:46):
Congratulations, it's quite a landmark.

Speaker 7 (38:49):
Let's let's talk about what that means. Because, as I
was saying, when I'm out there on the road with
my daughters. A lot of times we don't see too
many people that look like us. Yeah, and a lot
of that is not because we can't dances, because we
can't afford it. The traveling, the costumes, the privates, it's
a lot. And I didn't realize until I jumped in
and my wife bead like, we need another check. I'm like,

(39:10):
another check, but it's so expensive. So talk about the
importance of opening that school.

Speaker 18 (39:15):
Will The Debiel Dance Academy is in cultural Oases that
now has a middle school, has programs for boys, elders,
cancer patients.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
But for young people.

Speaker 18 (39:26):
It is designed to be an open door for whoever
it is that has the spirit of the dance can
come through that door and find the class and I
will get a program for you. I basically said no
to competitions. I've been asked year after year after year,
and I don't do them because I want children to
compete with themselves. I want them to be in the classroom.

(39:49):
I want them to be in the dance studio and
see where am I? Did I do that turn? Can
I balance? Can I do the passe? Can I you
know what is it that I'm can I do that
tap break? And I think it's great. Like you say,
the competition world is a great experience. It teaches children

(40:10):
performance and a lot of things and does cost a
lot of money, and so it would be not possible
for so many of us.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
It's just not possible.

Speaker 18 (40:19):
So where I'm living, I am raising money every minute
of my waking life to give more opportunity to the kids.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
I mean, right now is very.

Speaker 18 (40:29):
Difficult with all the foolishness that's going on in Washington,
the foolishness is going on with the nonprofit world. I mean,
you can't even write a grant now and say you're
focused on brown and black children.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
You can't even say that. You can't say you're.

Speaker 18 (40:47):
Dealing with disabled you can't. I mean, there's so many
this is ridiculous. So it means that we're going to
just become more grassroots the way we were in the fifties, honey,
because that's what it was. You have to get your
community together, and there's a big community of diverse people
who want to see the arts prevail and programs prevail,

(41:10):
because that's the future.

Speaker 5 (41:11):
What the creativity that it takes.

Speaker 18 (41:14):
To create a valet like revelations, is the same creativity
that will cure cancer. It's the same part of your
brain that we are developing creativity. You have to think
outside the box to figure these things out and to
come to some you know, understanding or level of accomplishments.

(41:35):
And to me, creativity is the closest you can be
to God is to be creative. So the DeBie Allan
Dan's Academy is a real purpose in my life and
my husband, Norman Nixon's life, my daughter's life, my son,
the whole community. We have a community of parents and
people who love us in the nationwide because we have to,

(41:58):
you know, throw that tin cup out there. I mean,
if I could say a million people just send me
two dollars, it would help us get through a whole
year of programming an opportunity. We have a program called
we have a program called Sons of Data, and that's
for the boys.

Speaker 5 (42:19):
I have more.

Speaker 18 (42:20):
Boys in my school than any school I bet in America.

Speaker 5 (42:23):
I don't make them wear the tights.

Speaker 18 (42:27):
They can come to ballet class and their shorts or
the sweatpants, but they are there. I mean, I got
thirty boys and there's a program Sons of data that offers.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
A scholarship for them.

Speaker 18 (42:38):
If all they have to do is say I want
raise the hand, I want to come wow, and then
they're there. David Cobran has been very supportive of this program,
but it needs to expand.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
I just don't have enough hours in the day.

Speaker 18 (42:54):
To do all that I know I could do, and
I just have to keep working. And I have a
great tea that is helping.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Me now while we're here.

Speaker 7 (43:01):
Just tell them how they can donate because people listening
right now and you talk about the school. If somebody
wants to donate that two dollars, like you said, a
million people, how can they donate?

Speaker 18 (43:09):
If you go on the Debbie Allen Dance Academy dot com,
you'll see there's a program called Rhythm of Giving. Or
you can just see how to get in touch with
Diana Bartello, or just how to drop through you know,
PayPal or what got you might want to do.

Speaker 6 (43:26):
It's interesting because you've been directing your choreographing for decades.
How do you keep your art evolving when the culture
itself always keeps shifting so fast.

Speaker 18 (43:36):
Well, that's what's exciting, because I'm with these young people
all the time, and there's a new language every you
know a.

Speaker 5 (43:44):
Couple of years that you have to you know.

Speaker 18 (43:47):
I mean, the Afro beat right now is everything I was.
I have been Mariah Carey's creative director many times, and
last year when I worked with Jenna Tompkin to do
her show, I introduced the style of dance, the Afro beat,
into the choreography and it was amazing to do Joy

(44:10):
to the World with that style of dance. The dancers
were on a respiated child with the first number, because
that Afro beat is serious. Yeah, it's fast, but it
takes a lot of energy to do it, and they
loved it.

Speaker 5 (44:25):
So that's what's beautiful.

Speaker 18 (44:27):
The nature of the universe has changed, and anybody that
doesn't understand that, well, sorry, what.

Speaker 22 (44:35):
Do you teach or how do you teach the artist
you work with, like a Mariah Carry or even like
Ashanti Eve been working with her for some time too,
about longevity and as things change, because things will change,
like how do you teach them how to you know
relevance and impact?

Speaker 23 (44:48):
Like what the career you have?

Speaker 25 (44:50):
Well, I don't think I have to teach Mariah Carry
about longevity. I mean, she's been the songbird for so long,
and she's got a new album out, and she is
one of these creative geniuses who writes her music and
I've never gone into a production where she didn't have
an idea about what she thinks it is. So I

(45:15):
don't know if that's I mean you're asking me about.

Speaker 22 (45:17):
I guess it's like the mentorship because even the way
that people look at you and how you handle just
anything you deal with and throughout your career, there's a
lot coming your way because of who you are. Mariah
Carey has a lot coming her way every day. I
guess I'm asking what the mentorship between you and these
women or men that you're working with that are these
big stars, What does that look like?

Speaker 18 (45:37):
It's very personal, It's very personal. I think part of
what I bring wherever I'm working is a.

Speaker 5 (45:46):
Motherhood, embrace, push knowledge, idea.

Speaker 18 (45:54):
I mean, I just said a lot of things that
I don't know if you've got all that. But when
people work with me, they know that I come with
a huge experience in many things, and sometimes it's very
intimidating to people. I've had some battles that you would

(46:15):
be surprised, and I think it has a lot to
do with my expertise and ability. I'm an executive producing
director of Gray's Anatomy. We're in season twenty two. We
you know, Shonda Rhymes put me there to be an
integral part of keeping that show in energetic and moving.

(46:37):
And I hire all the directors. I hire new directors.
Felicia Shaw just became a director on Grey's Anatomy.

Speaker 5 (46:46):
Yeah she's a new one.

Speaker 8 (46:48):
Yeah, we kind of like her.

Speaker 18 (46:51):
But there to work with incredible showrun and make Marinus,
who you know.

Speaker 5 (46:59):
Are every outline. I'm part of the casting, you know,
and I've.

Speaker 18 (47:05):
Worked with dps who are brilliant. I produced the movie
Amista with Steven Spielberg, which will always be a big,
big accomplishment for all of us.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
It's not just me.

Speaker 18 (47:16):
For all of us to get that movie made, you'd
be hard pressed to do it today the way things
are going. But I have such a wealth of experience
that is a big thing that I bring.

Speaker 5 (47:29):
So I see things very quickly. Yes, I can make
decisions very quickly.

Speaker 11 (47:35):
You know.

Speaker 18 (47:35):
I'm here doing auditions for Joe Turner's Coming Gone, and
I'm seeing such wonderful new talent that I had not
known before. But even in that process, I can see
immediately this one has the potential, this one is talented,
but not right for this part.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
I mean, it's just experience.

Speaker 6 (47:56):
I love people who got intention. You know, you said
at four years old, you knew you want wanted to
do dance. Yeah, how did that lead to something like?

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Same?

Speaker 5 (48:07):
Well, because I stayed the course.

Speaker 18 (48:09):
And I went and studied and did the work. I've
been taking dance class my whole life. I was here
at the New York School of Ballet. Richard Thomas, John
boy on the Waltons, his dad and mom had the
best ballet school here in New York, the New York
School of Ballet.

Speaker 5 (48:26):
And I was like a little, you.

Speaker 18 (48:28):
Know, urchin, trucking around the streets and bought my dance card.
And in my class, I'd look up and Rudolph new
Reev would be in the class, or Mikhayel Barishnikov would
be in the class, Margot Fontange, these are icons in
the world of ballet.

Speaker 5 (48:45):
And then right across town, this is Alvin Eateley. Alvin
eately you know you, I don't know.

Speaker 18 (48:56):
I think my effort has proved even successful because I've
always done the work when you come up in the
dance world, it's.

Speaker 5 (49:04):
Like being an athlete.

Speaker 18 (49:05):
It's why Kobe Bryant and I were friends. He loved
dance and we had a very good relationship.

Speaker 5 (49:11):
You train, train, train, train, train.

Speaker 18 (49:13):
You can't shoot enough, you can't practice enough, you know,
jump shots, whatever they're practiced. You know those drills that
they do to stay in shape. You have to do
the work. And this is something young people really need
right now to understand that you don't get to get

(49:34):
there and stay if you.

Speaker 5 (49:35):
Haven't done the work.

Speaker 18 (49:36):
Misty Copeland, oh my god, Misty Copeland. You know she's
retiring tomorrow night from the American Ballet Theater. I will
be on stage with her. She invited me to be
on stage with her. But this is not an ending,
but a beginning of what else she's gonna do.

Speaker 5 (49:55):
Yeah, but she trained train, train, train train.

Speaker 18 (49:58):
You know, I've had parents come in you you your
daughter's and dance, and I've had parents say, well, my daughter,
you know, she just miss Allen. She just feels like,
you know, she's doing the same thing all the time.
I said, because she needs to. She has to learn
how to point that foot turning out, I say.

Speaker 5 (50:18):
Damn it.

Speaker 3 (50:21):
You said you and Kobe were friends.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
How did y'all get tight? How did y'all get so cool?

Speaker 5 (50:25):
Well, Kobe actually grew up in Italy.

Speaker 18 (50:28):
Fame was one of the biggest shows internationally Italy. I
still can't walk down the street, it was that popular.
So I came to a Laker game and he was
on the court and he looked at me and he
was like ah, and I was like.

Speaker 5 (50:42):
I'm looking at him, like oh wow. And then that
admiration was there.

Speaker 18 (50:49):
And then years later he actually was interested in learning
how to attack dance.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Really did you teach you?

Speaker 5 (50:56):
Well, we didn't get to that, but we were going
to get to that.

Speaker 18 (50:59):
And it was Michael Jackson's death that really kind of
brought us closer because Michael was somebody that I was
very close to. And I was talking about Michael on
television as saying he practiced practices.

Speaker 5 (51:19):
I said he was like Kobe Bryant. I said that
in an interview, and then Kobe called me, said, Debbie,
Michael and I were friends. I'll say what.

Speaker 18 (51:27):
He and Michael had become friends, and so we started
talking and he was writing these incredible books and we
were making plans to turn one of his books into the.

Speaker 5 (51:39):
Most incredible Broadway show. We were making plans.

Speaker 18 (51:44):
He had a whole universe that he was creating with
animators and composers, and he brought me in because he
respected what I do and what we could do together.
And when we were building the DeBie Allen Dance Academy,
which is now the Rhymes Performing Arts Center, because Shonda

(52:05):
Rhymes gifted us the building, which.

Speaker 5 (52:07):
Was amazing, amazing, but.

Speaker 18 (52:11):
We had to raise a lot of money to build it.
And so we took a meeting and Kobe was the
first one. He was He put a million dollars towards
building the DeBie Allen Dance Academy.

Speaker 4 (52:24):
Wow.

Speaker 18 (52:24):
And now we have a wall called the Kobe Bryant
Wall of Light that has all the donors and his
name at the top of that. And so we had
a lot of plans, and he loved dance.

Speaker 5 (52:39):
You know, is being an athlete to be a dancer.

Speaker 18 (52:42):
So Kobe Bryant, Wallace Annenberg, Barry, Gordy, Shonda Rhymes, the
Ford Foundation, they've been our big angels.

Speaker 8 (52:52):
Barbie is honoring you with your own triviue doll. What
went through your mind when you first got back. I'm
assuming that you're getting your own Barbie doll.

Speaker 5 (53:02):
I know, it was like getting an Oscar.

Speaker 18 (53:04):
It was like, you know, because I grew up in
Texas and we didn't have any dolls that looked like
us at all, and I was big on playing with
my dolls, and I knew about the Barbie Tribute collection,
and I was so excited when they made Shonda Rhymes
a Barbie doll, and I was just loving that.

Speaker 5 (53:26):
And mister Copeland.

Speaker 18 (53:28):
But then when they called to say they wanted to
make me one, I just was so touched because I
knew this had more to do with young people than anybody.
Although all of my older friends are buying them up,
child and buying them up, but the kids. I showed
this doll to some of the students in my school.

Speaker 5 (53:49):
I actually videotaped it. It was so precious. They were
so proud of it. They all wanted it.

Speaker 18 (53:55):
It looks like them, somebody that looks like them that
is dancing, that's you know.

Speaker 5 (54:00):
And so we.

Speaker 18 (54:01):
Worked on what she was going to look like and
how she was going to dress. And I said, let's
address her like fame, because that's your idea. Amazing let's
do fame and it puts me in a one more
realm of history that is very humbling.

Speaker 7 (54:20):
Yeah, I gotta ask you know this weekend, this week
coming up his homecoming week, right, A different world was
the reason why I went to HBCU.

Speaker 2 (54:28):
I got to see it. I seen what it was.

Speaker 3 (54:29):
So I have to ask, she.

Speaker 9 (54:31):
Is not going to teach you a one two one
two to go do at the home different.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
World off of what college? What college?

Speaker 17 (54:39):
This is?

Speaker 2 (54:40):
Every talks about it.

Speaker 5 (54:42):
Okay, so let me say this.

Speaker 18 (54:44):
A different world existed for a year before I got there,
and I was brought in by the creative of the
executives to come and see what was wrong and fix it.
And I did because I had that hbc you experience
which none of the people there had. I went to
Howard University.

Speaker 3 (55:04):
Sorry Howard University.

Speaker 22 (55:05):
I'm sorry for both of y'all because university is where
but Hampton is great.

Speaker 5 (55:15):
But you know, Howard, we were the school.

Speaker 18 (55:18):
The first school to take over the a building the
school because we were demanding black studies.

Speaker 15 (55:26):
We pulled up the gate and threw.

Speaker 18 (55:28):
It on the dean's desk. You at Brown let us.
I was had my big Afrochi and I was all
up in there.

Speaker 5 (55:37):
Two months later, you know, we didn't think about dying
and nothing like that.

Speaker 18 (55:41):
The parents were sending us orange juice and boiled eggs
and begging us to come out.

Speaker 5 (55:47):
We're gonna come out when we get where we were.

Speaker 18 (55:49):
Then what how many months later Kent State did that
and four kids were killed.

Speaker 5 (55:53):
By the National Guard.

Speaker 18 (55:55):
What the hell we knew? Say it loud Black and
I'm proude was our anthem. We had Mary McKee book coming,
We had Stokely Carmichael named them.

Speaker 5 (56:05):
They all came to Howard. We were in Washington, d c.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
Wow.

Speaker 18 (56:12):
So coming into a different world, we could no longer
do shows about people walking around holding eggs. We had
to do shows that were culturally relevant, socially responsible.

Speaker 5 (56:27):
And stilled a lot of fun.

Speaker 18 (56:29):
And we did that and so Susan fails Hill. She
is one of the most incredible writers on this planet.
She was the showrunner. But the real book of all
of when we did La Riahs, Mammy DearS, all those
shows that are so memorable, it starts with the writing

(56:50):
and Susan and who else was in that writing room.
Gina Prince Bythewood, Reggie bythewood. They were all in the
writer's room, along with Vettlee Browser who you know she
is other There was so much talent and energy and
she h together. We just engaged. And I was always

(57:11):
in the principal's office. I say, I was always called
into the network. Really, oh god, oh my god, y'all
have no idea what.

Speaker 5 (57:18):
I had to go through. And still and still.

Speaker 23 (57:21):
What were their upsets? Why were they calling you?

Speaker 5 (57:23):
Oh, because you.

Speaker 3 (57:24):
Took it from a sitcom to a social movement?

Speaker 18 (57:26):
Yeah, yeah, you know, because we did the first show
about AIDS, Whooping Goldberg. We knew Whoo people was gonna
win that Oscar. She's been my friend forever.

Speaker 5 (57:38):
I said, Whoopy, would you come, Debbie? You know I'm there.
She came, I had her. They didn't care. I said,
AIDS is.

Speaker 18 (57:46):
Killing our people, your people, everybody. We need to do
this doing shows a date rape what you know? I
was always called into the office. Why did we have
to do Why did I said, child, we can't just
talk about you know, somebody bumping in the corner.

Speaker 5 (58:01):
We're gonna do some of that too.

Speaker 6 (58:03):
So what's your process for I guess how do you
tell hard truths and still keep it entertaining.

Speaker 5 (58:08):
Basically, because that's the way the world is.

Speaker 18 (58:11):
In the middle of all this, you'll find something to
laugh about. In the middle of this, you'll see somebody.

Speaker 5 (58:16):
You want to kiss.

Speaker 18 (58:19):
Yeah, that riot is happening, but ooh baby, look at
that boyl over there?

Speaker 3 (58:23):
Who is that?

Speaker 13 (58:25):
You know?

Speaker 18 (58:26):
Real life doesn't stop because of it will stop you.
It makes you think and have to talk and address
but it goes on.

Speaker 7 (58:36):
Miss Debbie Allen has to leave as well too. Guys, Yes, okay,
you got last one?

Speaker 3 (58:40):
The last one? Do you have a last one?

Speaker 5 (58:42):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (58:42):
Like Fame showed what art could be, right and A
Different World showed what education could be. How do you
think your work has shaped how young people now see
the intersection between art and intellect and activity.

Speaker 5 (58:55):
You know, that's such a good question. And I appreciate
that question because.

Speaker 18 (59:00):
Because Netflix just rebooted A Different World the original on
and a lot of people are talking to me and
asking me. But the mind of young people, the curiosity
is what you want. You want them to be curious.
And I think when they see these shows, when they
see me and I make myself accessible, they feel like

(59:22):
they could do something too.

Speaker 5 (59:24):
That is really, that's what it's about. They could do
something to do. I'm still learning. I'm still at this
ripe old age.

Speaker 18 (59:32):
I'm getting ready to direct August Wilson's Joe Turner's Coming
Gone on Broadway in the spring, and I am in
school because you can't come up there. It's like you
can't direct Shakespeare if you don't understand the language the period.

Speaker 5 (59:47):
I am up in the August Wilson school of thought.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Deep deep, deep deep.

Speaker 5 (59:52):
So by the time we open in April, that show
is going to be amazing. But who is going to
be child tis on sale November fifth. I had to
say that outloud.

Speaker 18 (01:00:05):
Brian Morland, who actually produced Othello Denzel's Othellos, is our producer.

Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
Amazing. But I'm just saying, I'm still in school.

Speaker 18 (01:00:14):
So I'm putting together a whole pack of information about
nineteen eleven.

Speaker 5 (01:00:20):
What was happening, what was the music? Who's president? What's
happening in Europe?

Speaker 18 (01:00:25):
You got to know all of these things. What was
happening not to in Pittsburgh. Where were we with the
Great Migration? Where are we with emancipation? Where are we
legally with civil rights?

Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
You got to do the work, and I am still
doing the work.

Speaker 6 (01:00:43):
Ms.

Speaker 8 (01:00:43):
Nevillen, have you ever taught a proper t work?

Speaker 9 (01:00:48):
I just want to know. I don't know through all
your lessons. No, you need help through all your lessons.
I just want to know, Like, have you ever taught
twerkage ever?

Speaker 18 (01:01:01):
Well, you know, I don't know if I've charted, but
my husband is always on me to stop doing it.

Speaker 11 (01:01:11):
So long.

Speaker 18 (01:01:12):
Okay, I want me to do it in public.

Speaker 5 (01:01:19):
I could do it in the bedroom, but not. Yes, ma'am, Okay,
that's all.

Speaker 7 (01:01:26):
Let me appreciate you for joining us. If you're out
and about makes you pick up her Barbie doll. Also
donate to the school. Yes, and thank you so much.
And please don't be a stranger. How many time you're
in the city, pull.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Debbie Allen, it's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.

Speaker 6 (01:01:46):
Debbie Allen. Kissed me twice, y'all. Debbie Allen kissed me twice.

Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
Yeah, Like somebody don't make it sense right.

Speaker 9 (01:01:53):
What I'm talking about don't don't put that.

Speaker 6 (01:01:56):
Narrative was so sweet, and then Lauren tried to hate
and Lauren was like, I don't know why y'all think
he's so older.

Speaker 23 (01:02:00):
Women that come here sweet and you are not.

Speaker 4 (01:02:05):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
I don't want to hear nothing from Brandia.

Speaker 7 (01:02:07):
Thinks somebody said I look like a high school senior
with dress play football.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
I'm just ready for homecoming, the game tonight.

Speaker 23 (01:02:14):
That's how they would dress when they had a game.

Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
You do look like you would get killed in the
horror movie.

Speaker 23 (01:02:19):
Oh my god, yes, you'll die first behind the bleachers.

Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
Oh my god. True.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Let's get to the latest with Lauren man be coming straight.
She gets them somebody that knows somebody detail.

Speaker 23 (01:02:34):
I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
She'd be having the latest on.

Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
The latest with Lauren la Rosa.

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
Sometimes you have fact, sometimes you have details. Sometimes you
have a little bit of everything.

Speaker 22 (01:02:45):
It's the latest on the breakfast cluss to me ll
cool Bay, Yes, what you was about to say?

Speaker 5 (01:02:53):
Something?

Speaker 17 (01:02:54):
Ye like?

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
No, go ahead?

Speaker 23 (01:02:56):
Agrees that child all right.

Speaker 22 (01:02:58):
So Michael Jordan, he hasn't held the TV roles and
stepping away from his Basketball Hall of fame career until now.
So last night he debuted as a special contributor for
NBA on NBC, which is celebrating NBC's return to NBA
broadcasting for the first time over twenty years. Michael Jordan, Yes,
Michael Jordan' yes. So he made a debut last night

(01:03:21):
as a part of the opening night of the NBA.
The Houston Rockets played Oklahoma City Thunder and during halftime,
they aired a special sit down that NBC created called
mj Insights into Excellence. It's hosted by the NBC commentator
Mike Turrico, and during this conversation, Jordan basically talks basketball,
but you guys know, he stays out of the spotlight,

(01:03:42):
like purposely stays out the spotlight, which he's talked about.
So they begin to talk to him in this first
part of the series about why he's stepping back into
the spotlight now and talking basketball.

Speaker 23 (01:03:51):
Let's say a listen, why do you want.

Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
To share what you're thinking about basketball now?

Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
It's pay it forward.

Speaker 14 (01:03:56):
You know, I have an obligation to the game of basketball,
not financially, okay, I mean I think more or less
from as a basketball player is to be able to
pass on messages of success and dedication to the game
of basketball.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Still love it, love it like you wouldn't believe. I mean,
you know, I stay.

Speaker 14 (01:04:13):
I wish I can take a magic pill, put on shorts,
and go out and play the game of basketball today,
because that's that's who I am. That's that type of competition,
that type of competitiveness, it's what I live for, and
I miss it.

Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
I missed that aspect of.

Speaker 14 (01:04:28):
Playing the game of basketball, being able to challenge myself
against what people see as great basketball. But it's better
for me to be sitting here talking to you as
opposed to popping my achilles. And I'm in a wheelchair
for a while.

Speaker 6 (01:04:43):
So you're not going to be on like his Tom
Brady where he's like calling games and stuff like that.

Speaker 22 (01:04:47):
I thought it was going to be like that too,
but it is a series that they've created and it'll
be different parts. The nextpert actually airs on October twenty eighth,
but he'll be talking basketball and about like.

Speaker 23 (01:04:58):
Where the league and every NNBA and all the things
are now.

Speaker 22 (01:05:01):
They also talked to him though about the last time
he actually picked up a basketball.

Speaker 23 (01:05:04):
He said, it's been years. A sick a listen, do.

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
You ever do you ever pick up a ball?

Speaker 26 (01:05:08):
And this shit, I hadn't picked up a ball in years.
Come on, just like walk past. There's got to be
a hoop somewhere at your place. You don't see a
hoop anywhere around here. I don't the.

Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Last time you picked up a basketball and shot.

Speaker 14 (01:05:20):
I was at the Ryder Cup and I rented a
house from the owner. Sure he came over to do
pictures and grandkids, and I was beating greet and thank
him for allowing me to stay in the house. And
he had a basketball court. He says, I want you
to shoot one free throw. I said, really, So when
I stepped up to shoot your free throw, it's the
most nervous I've been in stop it. The reason being

(01:05:42):
is those kids heard the stories from the parents about
what I did thirty years ago, right, so their expectation
is thirty years prior and I.

Speaker 4 (01:05:51):
Haven't touched the basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
I hope you switched it.

Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
Absolutely.

Speaker 14 (01:05:55):
I got The most gratifying that made my whole week
is that I was able to please that kid.

Speaker 22 (01:06:02):
Can y'all imagine if he didn't make it and they
had Michael Jordan all over TikTok not making the shots.

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
I mean, I love that conversation.

Speaker 7 (01:06:12):
Yeah, and it shows how competitive he is that he
he said, yeah, I missed the game.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
I want to get back.

Speaker 7 (01:06:17):
I want to put them shorts in that jersey back
on and bust these young boys ass.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
But I mean, you miss Michael Jordan in this game.

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
How much is Michael Jordan getting paid? And what did
we just listen to?

Speaker 23 (01:06:28):
So I was confused he was going to be sidelined,
right at least?

Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
Yeah, during the game Tom Brady does on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (01:06:36):
This was like halftime conversations, Like during halftime when instead
of they going to the halftime performance, they went to
a conversation part of a conversation with Michael whatever.

Speaker 6 (01:06:46):
They was giving him the drink during the last dance
they need to give when he was doing the talking
head on the last dance, he was phenomenal. Okay, that
right there was you know, he was just laid back
and given looking.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
I didn't even I wasn't even read.

Speaker 23 (01:06:57):
They were they yeah, they were yeah, Okay, No, I
don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:07:02):
I mean, if you're read for no reason, listen, whoever
was doing the toss and head stuff during the last dance.
That's who they need that talking to MJ. Because MJ
was giving it up the last dance right there was.

Speaker 22 (01:07:14):
This is only the first part, so maybe he's gonna
get more into like some Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:07:18):
And also I don't want to watch the NBA and
hear about MJ all day. What you mean if I'm
watching game that came on during halftime of the game
half time, Yeah, I want to hear about him talk
about the game.

Speaker 7 (01:07:28):
I don't want to hear him talk about him. But
I was pre taped so they would know. But Mellow
was there. Mellow was there. He was even saw me game.
And they got their rings last night. Okay, so got
their rings last night.

Speaker 23 (01:07:37):
So I give what you're saying, though, Charlie, that definitely
get what you're saying.

Speaker 22 (01:07:40):
Well, so that's gonna be at every game. I don't
know how many parts the series is. I just know
it several parts and that the next one is airing
on October twenty eighth. Yeah, and they'll be talking about
loaded management.

Speaker 21 (01:07:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:07:55):
Watch all right, Well, as we wrap up, I have
had time for one more?

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
Why not?

Speaker 23 (01:08:01):
Yes?

Speaker 22 (01:08:02):
So free in AJ one on sixth in Park Former
Ross party. They are on the time Joiner Fantastic Voyage
Cruise and Free. They were having a conversation with some
of the audience there, and Free talks about a moment
that she almost shared with Alida that she's never talked
about before.

Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
Let's take a listen.

Speaker 27 (01:08:18):
So I was asked by Aliah to go on video
shot the video shoot, but the days got switched up
with her schedule and I had to host a tampass total.

Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Utah in La with the Great Queen my Teeth for
his sister Soja.

Speaker 20 (01:08:33):
And because I had to be there and they switched
the schedule, I couldn't make it to the thing. So
when that came across the TV, knowing that, well, I
was gonna let her leave me on the I'll definitely
even wear her. It's just it's something I really held.
Her mom and I have discussed it, and it's just
something that I like. So, yeah, Aliah, because Aliyah, you

(01:08:53):
know Sushi say space, thank y'all from allow me to
speak that out loud.

Speaker 5 (01:08:58):
I've never spoken that out loud.

Speaker 22 (01:09:01):
Yeah, So that clip was circulating yesterday and and on
this cruise, and even in that conversation, they're you know,
talking about like the some of like the highlights of
their careers, things that they won't will never forget from
their careers. But the cruise itself just brings together like
a certain era of like entertainment and phil I'm explaining
it to people listening who may not know about thenks.

(01:09:22):
I know y'all know you probably went. Have y'all been
on the Time Dream? I have not, Okay, I heard it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:25):
It was a thing.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Looking just like they said, the crew.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
And suits.

Speaker 22 (01:09:37):
They be having fun at see fun on land. They
got Neo, Kat Williams, Mary Mary ryl Underwood the cruise time.

Speaker 5 (01:09:46):
But I'm doing this forever.

Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:09:51):
Remember I used to hear on the radio when I
was young.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Legend radio thing.

Speaker 9 (01:09:56):
Yes, all right, well that is the latest birthday to
Jeff cold Blame. Y'all y'all know him, the Jurassic park.

Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
It's his birthday.

Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
Okay, happy birthday.

Speaker 9 (01:10:11):
I just watched Fly last night.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):

Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
We need President Trump to come to the front of
the congregation.

Speaker 6 (01:10:46):
There's a few things we should bring the America's attention
on this fine Wednesday.

Speaker 9 (01:10:50):
All right, yo, yo, come on, y'all, relax, You're not
the only one that work here. What you got flight,

Donald J.

Speaker 13 (01:11:12):
Trump is going for a total and complete chuckdown of
Muslims entering the United States.

Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
Would you love to see one of these.

Speaker 13 (01:11:18):
NFL owners when somebody disrespects our flag to say, get
that son of a b.

Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
You off the field right now out.

Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
He's fired. He's fired. Trump, please step up to the congregation. Yes,
you are an.

Speaker 28 (01:11:36):
When Mexico sends his pete, they're not sending their best.

Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crimes.

Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
He's a jack as.

Speaker 6 (01:11:46):
Listen, Donkey today for Wednesday, October twenty second goes to
our forty fifth and forty seventh President of the United
States of America, Donald J.

Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
Trump.

Speaker 6 (01:11:54):
There's a few things I would like to bring to
America's attention. I mean, we are on the third week
of a government shut down on day twenty one, I believe, okay,
the second longest government shut down in American history. The
longest was under the first Trump administration that was for
thirty five days. And there seems to be no end
in sight.

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (01:12:10):
Keep in mind, this is the man who promised the
economic change on day one.

Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
He said grocery prices inflation, more money in americans pockets
on day one, okay. In January, during his inaugural address,
Trump promise to put America first, okay, and he said
he would usher in a new golden age for American families.
We are ten months in and if you ask me,
his policies that made things worse for American families, Are
you living your.

Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Life like it's golden?

Speaker 8 (01:12:35):
Huh huh?

Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
Am I making this up?

Speaker 6 (01:12:37):
His administration is signature legislation, is delivering the largest Medicaid
cuts in US history. Fifteen million people will lose healthcare coverage,
not to mention taking food assistance from kids, seniors, people
with disabilities. His nut ass trade policies have made at
the cost of living.

Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
In America worse.

Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
Some studies show a thirteen hundred dollar tax increase per
household this year and the longer the government shut down
drags on essential services that stopped, and hundreds of thousands
of federal workers aren't making no paper, okay, no money whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Oh and did I tell you.

Speaker 6 (01:13:12):
That snap benefits will also stop because of the government
shut down. Forty two million people are at risk of
losing their food stamps because of the government shutdown. Why
am I telling you all these things? I'm telling you
all these things because when President Trump said it was
going to be a Golden age, he wasn't talking about you, okay,
he was talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
The rich, all right. The tax cuts for the rich
and bay allouts for the rich.

Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
First of all, yesterday it was reported that President Trump
plans to demand that his Justice Department pay him two
hundred and thirty million dollars over the past investigations into him.

Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
I can't make this kind of stuff up. Let's listen.
But look what they did.

Speaker 13 (01:13:49):
They rigged the election, and as you know, we had
in one case, sixty minutes had to pay.

Speaker 12 (01:13:56):
Us a lot of money.

Speaker 13 (01:13:57):
George slot Medopolis had to pay us a lot of
money that they already paid. You know, they paid me
a lot of money because what they did was wrong.
And you know, when somebody does what's wrong now with
the country, it's interesting because I'm the one that makes
a decision, right and you know that decision would have
to go across my desk. And it's sorefully strange to
make a decision where I'm paying myself.

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
In other words, to.

Speaker 13 (01:14:19):
Get to have one of those cases where you have
to decide how much you're paying yourself and damages. No,
but I was damaged very greatly, and any money that
I would get I would give to charity.

Speaker 6 (01:14:29):
I'm gonna tell you something, if he wasn't the president,
he'd be one of my favorite supervillains. Okay, the man
is asking for reparations for himself, all right, and he's.

Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
Gonna get it.

Speaker 6 (01:14:37):
Why because the senior department officials, he's asking what defense
law is for him, and now they are in jobs
that typically must approve any payout.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
Do I have to tell you that this is a
conflict of interest?

Speaker 6 (01:14:49):
Do you care if you are a Trump supporter that
you might be starving right now? You have no idea
how you're gonna pay your bills right now. But he
is about to pay himself whatever the hell he wants.

Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
But it's going to be too hunge than thirty million dollars.

Speaker 6 (01:15:01):
Listen, Okay, that two hundred and fifty million dollar White
House ballroom that Trump is getting built, is it gonna
pay itself?

Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
But don't worry.

Speaker 6 (01:15:08):
Trump said he's using some of his own money for
the White House ballroom, but he hasn't said how much.
And Trump says the project will be paid for with
private donations and that no public money will be spent
on the ballroom. So if we're keeping score, that's four
hundred and eighty million dollars right, Okay, So let's just
say you're a Trump supporter, Your defense will probably be, well,

(01:15:29):
the investigations against Trump and BS, so he should get
reparations for what the government did to him. Never Mind,
it's unethical, never mind, he's essentially paying himself whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
And then with the.

Speaker 6 (01:15:39):
Ballroom, I'm sure you will say, well, that's not taxpayer dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
Okay, Well what about this one?

Speaker 6 (01:15:45):
A twenty billion dollar payout for Argentina. You ard me
a twenty billion dollar bailout for Argentina.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Let's go to nine News for the report.

Speaker 29 (01:15:56):
Police President Trump is now considering doubling his promised bailout
to Argentina to forty billion dollars. The move is now
drawing criticism from.

Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
Both sides of the aisle.

Speaker 29 (01:16:06):
Trump praised Argentina's president during his visit to the White House,
calling him maga all the way the president's words. The
President initially promised a twenty billion dollar aid package to
help argentina struggling economy, but a Treasury officials confirmed another
twenty billion is now being discussed. Secretary Scott Besson says
the US would exchange dollars for pesos and Argentina would

(01:16:29):
pay it back. However, with Argentina's history of debt faults,
debt defaults. Many in Washington are still skeptical.

Speaker 11 (01:16:39):
To borrow the.

Speaker 30 (01:16:40):
Money from China to send it to Argentina.

Speaker 31 (01:16:44):
Rather than fix the healthcare crisis devastating Americans here at home.
Trump's doubling down on sending forty billion dollars to a
right wing MAGA strong man in Argentina.

Speaker 29 (01:16:54):
Today, the Treasury Secretary clarified that that extra money would
come from the private sector, not from taxpayers.

Speaker 6 (01:17:02):
Bailouts for another country's economy at a time like this,
is our economy flourishing?

Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
Is our economy booming?

Speaker 6 (01:17:09):
I thought it was make America great again, but apparently
America has been replaced with Argentina. Okay, my fellow Americans,
I ask a simple question, what is America first about
sending twenty billion to another country while Americans are suffering? Now,
some people say Trump is just using US funds to
influence a foreign election, which would definitely be a misuse

(01:17:29):
of public money. Our tax dollars going to influence another
country's election. Come on, now, now, I want to put
a button on this thing by letting you know that
US farmers who have been shut out of China's soybean
market because the Trump's trade war are really hurting.

Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
But when asked about.

Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
The American farmers who feel like he's prioritizing Argentina and
Argentina farmers more than them, he had this to say.

Speaker 5 (01:17:53):
My question is, what do.

Speaker 22 (01:17:54):
You have to say to US farmers who feel that
the deal is benefiting Argentina more than it is.

Speaker 28 (01:17:59):
The Argentina is fighting for its life. Young lady, you
don't know anything about it. They're fighting for their life.
Nothing is benefiting Argentina. They're fighting for their life. You
understand what that means. They have no money, they have
no anything. They're fighting so hard to survive. If I
can help them survive in a free world, I happen
to like the president of Argentina. I think he's trying

(01:18:21):
to do the best he can. But don't make it
sound like they're doing great.

Speaker 5 (01:18:24):
They are dying.

Speaker 6 (01:18:26):
Jesus Christ. Our American farmers not fighting for their life.
Our average, everyday American is not fighting for their life.
What is benefiting Americans right now? About what's going on
in America? Do Americans have money?

Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
Huh? How is just making America great again? How is
this America first?

Speaker 6 (01:18:44):
I just need you all to know that the only
thing President Trump cares to make great is his bank account. Okay,
the only thing he puts first is himself. And I'm
just here to make you aware of what's going on.
Argue amongst yourself, because I'm not going back and forth
with none of you magabots on social media today.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
Please get President Donald J. Trump, the biggest he huh.

Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
All right.

Speaker 6 (01:19:06):
I don't even know how you can argue any of that,
but in short mac maca supporters will find a way.

Speaker 7 (01:19:13):
All right, Well, thank you for that donkey of today.
Now we come back from a former from Housewives of
Beverly Hills and now she's in a new movie Taken
at the truck Stop, a black Girl Missing movie. We're
gonna talk to garcels Bay when we come back.

Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
That's a just hilarious love story.

Speaker 5 (01:19:27):
Yeah right, I did not hear.

Speaker 8 (01:19:30):
I didn't we was going to break.

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
I was not allowed.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
I'm a truck stop. No, I did not mean.

Speaker 5 (01:19:38):
Break, no by, and be shut up.

Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
All right, we'll talk to when we come back. It's
the Breakfast Club in the morning, the Breakfast Club.

Speaker 7 (01:19:50):
Warning, everybody is d J Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne the guy.
We are the breakfast club. Law La Rosa is here
as well. We got a special guest in.

Speaker 6 (01:19:58):
The building and be just a houlted her for that
was just so disrespectful. It was so ridiculous and out
of pocket for no goddamn reasons.

Speaker 32 (01:20:08):
Well, I didn't mean to offend your family.

Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
That's a mine of good. How was you? She said
the boys at eighteen?

Speaker 7 (01:20:15):
I said, know, you know, I met the boys kid.

Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Luckily I'm not that sensitive. I was talking about the boys.

Speaker 6 (01:20:26):
Okay, I believe you and you are fine, wine.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Feeling.

Speaker 33 (01:20:32):
I'm feeling really good. I'm really in a great place.
Work is you know, popping. I have this great new
movie that's coming out and I'm producing.

Speaker 15 (01:20:42):
It's been really really fun.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Do you miss Housewives at all? No? So you're not
coming at all, not anytime soon.

Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
Wow.

Speaker 15 (01:20:51):
No, I mean it was great.

Speaker 33 (01:20:53):
Uh, it was great in terms of like I got
a new audience and they.

Speaker 15 (01:20:57):
Were really wonderful things that happened because of the show.

Speaker 6 (01:21:00):
But I think my time was up.

Speaker 7 (01:21:01):
Yeah, So why did you leave because your time was up?
Or was it contracts?

Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
Was it?

Speaker 11 (01:21:06):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
Nothing like that. I just couldn't do it.

Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
Anymore.

Speaker 15 (01:21:08):
It was really hurting my spirit. I just couldn't do it.

Speaker 5 (01:21:12):
Yeah, that was really it.

Speaker 7 (01:21:13):
People try to put you and pit you and Bose
against each other and they thought that was no.

Speaker 15 (01:21:17):
Why no, not at all, not at all.

Speaker 33 (01:21:20):
I mean I met with Bose prior to her coming
onto the show for lunch.

Speaker 15 (01:21:24):
We got along great. So No, it wasn't anything like that.

Speaker 33 (01:21:27):
It was just I couldn't physically, mentally, spiritually do it anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
I'm big on discernment.

Speaker 6 (01:21:33):
How do you know, especially in this business, when something
does not agree with your spirit.

Speaker 33 (01:21:38):
You know what, I've been really great about choosing me
when I'm when I'm faced with something. I've done it
with you know, relationships. I've done it in other places
where I felt like, you know what, if I don't
choose me, it will probably.

Speaker 15 (01:21:52):
Not work out for me.

Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:21:54):
So yeah, I have faith and I just knew.

Speaker 5 (01:21:58):
It was time.

Speaker 6 (01:22:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:22:00):
Now, what is Suton gonna do without you?

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
Girl? I don't know that.

Speaker 9 (01:22:06):
Support but now sudden when we had bows up here,
I'd asked her about the unfollowing on Instagram because that
became a whole thing.

Speaker 22 (01:22:15):
You followed some of the ladies all the ladies. When
I left, Yeah, yeah, yeah, when I left.

Speaker 23 (01:22:21):
And I mean people.

Speaker 22 (01:22:22):
The fans were commenting why they thought it happened, and
she said, and she thought maybe it was just like
you know, you.

Speaker 23 (01:22:26):
Go through a breakup, you just want to get rid
of the reason.

Speaker 15 (01:22:29):
I just needed space.

Speaker 33 (01:22:30):
I just didn't you know, if you're I follow people
who I want to see what they're doing and I
want to support And if I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
See why I need to follow you, I don't want
to see what they're doing.

Speaker 5 (01:22:41):
No, there's no need for it.

Speaker 23 (01:22:43):
There was also the thing too.

Speaker 22 (01:22:45):
Erica, Jane, and Bowse were on Watch What Happens Live
and Andy asks about you not returning to the show.

Speaker 23 (01:22:51):
Did you see that clip?

Speaker 15 (01:22:52):
I saw the clip?

Speaker 23 (01:22:52):
Yeah, how did you feel about the answers?

Speaker 15 (01:22:55):
Mean girls, that's.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
All most of the clip because me and Charlaune looking at so.

Speaker 22 (01:23:01):
Basically he asked about how they felt about Garsel and
not returned to the show, and they were silent, and
it was like nobody wanted to say anything. And then
when someone when Erica said something, it was like won't
he do it? Like you know, it was it was
like there was a weird pause and we were trying
to figure out what that meant, and the fans hopped
in the comments when both were here and said and
said that there was no support from her to you.

(01:23:22):
She said that that wasn't true, but do you feel
like she supported you through that season.

Speaker 15 (01:23:26):
I really don't want to go back there, honestly. I'm
here from my movie.

Speaker 33 (01:23:29):
I love that I'm selling shows, and I just would
like to stay on a positive note.

Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
My host what of them called you old?

Speaker 6 (01:23:37):
Now you're movie, I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 22 (01:23:48):
People, and we were like we I think we attached
to you so much on the show because we're in
your life.

Speaker 23 (01:23:56):
Just were fans of you and we miss you on
the show.

Speaker 15 (01:23:59):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 33 (01:24:00):
I understand what you're doing, what you're you know, I said,
it's also your job that ain't me.

Speaker 9 (01:24:04):
I'm still attached to Fancy, okay, and I know that
I know that you probably like, look, I ain't Fancy
no more either, But no, I.

Speaker 15 (01:24:13):
Loved I loved that character.

Speaker 33 (01:24:15):
I loved that job like I had never really done
comedy and meeting Jamie and you know, us having instant chemistry,
and we thought if we did thirteen episodes, we would
have been golden.

Speaker 15 (01:24:26):
We ended up doing one hundred episodes. Like, I mean,
it's unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (01:24:30):
I can't go anywhere without someone saying fancy.

Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
He says when he's out.

Speaker 8 (01:24:34):
There, like where's fancy?

Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
So it's like.

Speaker 15 (01:24:36):
People connected with that, and that's a great thing.

Speaker 23 (01:24:38):
That's how it was. When you walked in a room.
I don't know if you heard me, I was like, yes.

Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Right, yes, when you walk Damn, I can't wait to
housewives questions.

Speaker 5 (01:24:50):
It's gonna let it go.

Speaker 9 (01:24:51):
But God did it, and God is doing it because
you have not only one movie, you have two films,
but you're up here for taking that yah, which also
your production company actually shot that as Yes, amazing.

Speaker 15 (01:25:03):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 33 (01:25:04):
I mean, doing this franchise, the Black Girl Missing franchise,
has been an amazing thing. And that's what I'm so
grateful for, for getting the platform to be able to
put out things that I think will help our community,
help us.

Speaker 15 (01:25:17):
And I was sick and tired of seeing.

Speaker 33 (01:25:18):
The disparity of when black and brown people go missing,
that we weren't getting the same coverage, we weren't getting
the same urgency or validation.

Speaker 5 (01:25:26):
And we put out this movie.

Speaker 33 (01:25:29):
The first one, thinking that okay, if we can get
people to talk about it, that's a good thing. And
then the numbers went through the roof and it was
trending on Twitter at the time, and now we're onto.

Speaker 5 (01:25:39):
You know, movie three.

Speaker 15 (01:25:41):
So it's been.

Speaker 33 (01:25:42):
Really amazing and meeting amazing journalists who say, you know what,
we take accountability too because we can tell you who
the Jambinets are, the Gabby Potito's, you know, the Natalie Holloways,
but we can't tell you the names of the black
girls because we're not featured like that. And that's what
we want people to do is to know who we are.

Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
We go missing girl.

Speaker 6 (01:26:01):
Missing movie subtitle is very intentional, Yeah, yes, very intentional.

Speaker 15 (01:26:05):
Absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 7 (01:26:06):
I'm sure you did a deep dive into a lot
of the young black girls that are missing. If you
can't break it down because you know, I'm a father
of four girls. Yes, where is the biggest place that
these girls are taking for?

Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
And what reason is it?

Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
The mall?

Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
Is it bus stops? Is it coming from school?

Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
What is the biggest so I can be on actually.

Speaker 15 (01:26:25):
Everywhere, it's actually everywhere.

Speaker 33 (01:26:28):
The second movie we did was called Abducted at HBCU,
and we're really trying to teach the you know, not
only girls, but boys too, Like when you're in college,
build a community, you know, so that if you don't
show up for classes for three days, somebody's gonna go
word so and so. Like it's about having a community,
but it's also ringing the bell. And my niece has

(01:26:49):
girls in college and she was like, you're scaring me
with your movies, and I go, I'm trying to scare you,
you know, just so that we're all aware. So it
can happen anywhere the malls. There are guys that groom
the girls. I mean, there's all kinds of ways of
these girls going missing. I mean I was just in
Vegas at the airport and I went to the bathroom
and when the minute I closed the stall, there's a

(01:27:10):
whole sign about if you're being abducted, if you're being
tra So it's everywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:27:14):
Yeah, the other.

Speaker 6 (01:27:15):
Man this weekend, I took a picture because I just
thought it was it wasn't strange, but one of them
was like, if you're with somebody who wants to offer
you money, I was like what.

Speaker 5 (01:27:22):
Yeah, yeah. And they also target girls who you know sometimes.

Speaker 33 (01:27:27):
Are more vulnerable, and maybe there's you know, people at
home are working so she's alone a lot.

Speaker 15 (01:27:32):
Or there's you know, all types of ways.

Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
So I just took that.

Speaker 5 (01:27:36):
How about that?

Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
Yeah you said, you said, didn't ask you what time?
When he was with your daughter? Didn't ask you?

Speaker 6 (01:27:41):
Oh yeah, yeah, I was on the plane and uh,
somebody came on the planet is like if that's your daughter,
And I'm like, I hope so.

Speaker 33 (01:27:48):
Yeah, but I'm actually glad they're asking, right, Yeah, just
because it's so prevalent when we're you know, not everyone's
aware of that.

Speaker 22 (01:27:56):
Yeah, in this movie you talk about community. In this
movie community your truck community shows up for you in
a big way, and it's through like not that I
don't want to give it away, but they show for
you in a big way.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 22 (01:28:06):
What's the importance of not finding community but knowing how
to utilize it best in a high stake situation like
once someone goes missing and the cops won't help you.

Speaker 33 (01:28:15):
Right, and that Okay, that's one of the things I
will answer your question. But like a lot of families
have to take it upon themselves to look for their
family members because they're not getting the support they need.
So with the trucking community, by the way, there's a
there's a group of female truckers that are like badasses,
and we.

Speaker 15 (01:28:34):
Take it for granted.

Speaker 33 (01:28:34):
These people are on the road a lot, they're alone,
they're missing out on you know, birthdays and anniversaries and
what they're and their job is dangerous. So we wanted
to showcase that there's a community in every sector of life,
no matter what you doing, no matter what your profession is.

Speaker 15 (01:28:51):
It's like, let people know, you know that you're around.

Speaker 6 (01:28:55):
Yeah, one of the female truck is called and men
they pick up locked lizards.

Speaker 33 (01:29:00):
There there is that, Yes, yes, yes, yes, that is
the thing. But you know what I learned a lot
like these truckers when they go.

Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
His husband's truck driver. That's why she looked like that.

Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
But he is so okay, narrow minded.

Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
Have you all been together?

Speaker 9 (01:29:15):
You know I'm talking about this man sends across to me.

Speaker 8 (01:29:27):
No, no, no, but yes, no, I was not a lot. No,
all the of lizens they were before me. Thank you, go.

Speaker 33 (01:29:36):
Ahead, I'm sorry, But tell me about your husband though,
how long has he been doing it?

Speaker 5 (01:29:39):
So he's been in the business for five years?

Speaker 9 (01:29:41):
Okay, whatever, but like I met him three years ago,
so I was he was like two years into it
when I met him, and yeah, you know, we had
a couple of little lot of lizards hand there, you know,
but when I came in, they laught.

Speaker 15 (01:29:51):
Okay, Yeah, that was one.

Speaker 6 (01:29:53):
To know what female truck drivers called the men that
they pick up, that's all.

Speaker 3 (01:29:56):
You know what.

Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
I don't know if they have a name for him.

Speaker 8 (01:29:58):
I'm pretty sure she didn't do that research to do this.

Speaker 5 (01:30:02):
That's not it.

Speaker 15 (01:30:03):
Why how do you deal with him being on the road.

Speaker 9 (01:30:06):
I'm still trying to deal with it, okay, you know
because the schedule with my schedule and had schedule. We we're
trying to figure out like how we can balance and
then we.

Speaker 5 (01:30:15):
Have a one year old.

Speaker 9 (01:30:17):
You're still trying to balance that and still trying to
be full time lovers.

Speaker 5 (01:30:20):
That's very hard, very hard.

Speaker 6 (01:30:22):
You should Mexicans, so you know what everything going on
in the world.

Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
It's like, why did I come this morning?

Speaker 5 (01:30:30):
Are you talking about ice?

Speaker 15 (01:30:32):
Yes, that's scary for everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:30:35):
It's scary for everyone.

Speaker 22 (01:30:37):
Is not really running from ice, right, No, he's not.

Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
They're profiling you.

Speaker 15 (01:30:47):
It's a horrible place to be. But that's another topic.

Speaker 6 (01:30:50):
Why was it important to add the element of dealing
with an autistic family member.

Speaker 33 (01:30:55):
We really wanted to there's so much misconceptions about autism
and what that looks like and what that is, and
obviously there's different you know, there's different stages of autism.
So we really wanted to showcase a character that is functioning.
But that doesn't mean that just because she has autism
that she's irresponsible. And but what happened was because she's autistic,

(01:31:20):
she's dealing with somebody online and you know, we all
share too much, and she shared too much and so
then she gets taken kidnapped.

Speaker 22 (01:31:28):
So yeah, it was pretty first, what do you want
people the family members and the friends of people who
may have been abducted and you know, have went through
these experiences, they're family members and friends. There's a level
of like guilt that can happen sometimes in those situations.

Speaker 23 (01:31:43):
What do you want them to the message for them
to take from the movie.

Speaker 33 (01:31:47):
The message is really is that we want them to
be seen, we want them to get help.

Speaker 15 (01:31:52):
And I think, you know, things happen, you can't feel guilty.

Speaker 33 (01:31:55):
For that, you know, I think no matter how well
you watch your kids. I mean, things are going to
happen in life, right, But it's really about this movie
is starting a conversation making sure the families that have
missing family members know that they're being seen and that
they should be helped just like everybody else. And I'm
not saying we don't need to help other people. I'm

(01:32:16):
just saying I want us to have the same e urgency,
the same compassion.

Speaker 15 (01:32:20):
Don't say, let's wait.

Speaker 33 (01:32:21):
For two days, they'll come back, because we all know
the first forty eight hours the most crucial. Don't say, oh,
they're on drugs, they're runaways. Like give us the benefit
of the doubt as well. That's important to make.

Speaker 7 (01:32:32):
And one of the worst places that I've witnessed it
was LA, if there's a missing person, it seems like
they will wait till the last minute. It got to
the point where my wife's friend she actually passed, but
we were calling and calling, please go by the house,
check the house, this, that and the other. They were like,
we're too busy, We're too busy, We're too busy. I'm
sitting there like there's a possibility that you could save somebody, right,

(01:32:53):
And it was just like now we're too busy, too busy. Well,
we had to get a family member to actually go
out there and actually check. But I mean, I'm sure
you experienced that a lot when doing that homework.

Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 33 (01:33:02):
It's opened my eyes a lot, which is why we
need to keep doing this. We need to keep talking
about it and hopefully one day.

Speaker 5 (01:33:09):
We won't have to.

Speaker 6 (01:33:10):
Yeah, Kevin Hart and I put out a project called
Finding Tamika, and it was about a younger named Tamika
Houston who went missing in the early two.

Speaker 3 (01:33:16):
Thousands of Swartanburg.

Speaker 6 (01:33:17):
And you know, you learn that black girls and women
get less media attention when abducted compared to white victims.

Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Like this is actual data stage. They call it missing
White woman syndrome.

Speaker 19 (01:33:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 33 (01:33:28):
Actually, yeah, there's a big publication that just did a
ten page spread on John Bennet Ramsey who's been dead
twenty years, and we've never had anything like that.

Speaker 22 (01:33:39):
But I don't know if you've been seeing in the
news amount of Kata scott Ynger who was found dead
in Philly. I remember when her story first broke. It
was only I was watching it on like the local
and my grandmother caught me about it. And then I
remember I started seeing other outlets pick it up slowly,
but it was just you know, just seeing When I
was watching the movie yesterday, I thought about her story

(01:33:59):
because it was it took some time for people to
even know what was happening with her, and they were
begging for the public to help and they needed help
to find her.

Speaker 9 (01:34:07):
Or even the documentary I just watched not too long ago,
Where's Amy Bradley. Amy Bradley, Yes, been missing for what
it would be now, for like twenty years, you know,
and but not no slight to her and her family
or anything like that. But it's like, we don't get documentaries.
People don't look for us that long. You know, if

(01:34:29):
they ever do, they just move on. So yeah, that's definitely.

Speaker 33 (01:34:33):
Thank you for giving me the time because you guys
have a great platform and we want everybody to watch
this movie and let's keep talking about it.

Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
I need to get.

Speaker 23 (01:34:44):
Why you didn't end up on a view.

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
Oh well, they just.

Speaker 15 (01:34:54):
Went another way.

Speaker 5 (01:34:57):
When It's Tempted to Love coming.

Speaker 15 (01:34:58):
Out January thirty first, Yeah, the.

Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
Reason went out.

Speaker 9 (01:35:02):
I'm like, okay, when it's waits coming on board, Okay, Okay,
I like my job.

Speaker 5 (01:35:08):
I know that's right. How about if I come on.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
She's like, look enough to try to jump in my film?
This is like enough.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
We appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:35:19):
Definitely check out Taking at a Truck Stop comes on
the twenty fifth of this month.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
That's what Saturday, Saturday, Saturday. Definitely check it out. Thank
you so much, thank you. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning,
the Breakfast Club. Long be coming straight fast.

Speaker 7 (01:35:36):
She gets the from somebody that knows, somebody gets the detail.

Speaker 23 (01:35:39):
I'm a long girl that knows a little bit about everything.

Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
She'd be having the Latest on the.

Speaker 4 (01:35:46):
Latest with Laurence la Rosa.

Speaker 6 (01:35:47):
Sometimes you have facts, sometimes you have details. Sometimes you
have a little bit of everything.

Speaker 4 (01:35:51):
It's the Latest on the Breakfast Club.

Speaker 5 (01:35:55):
All right.

Speaker 22 (01:35:55):
So gospel singer Fred Hammond has had to come out
in defense of bishop, a bishop named Marvin Wayne's Wayning's
Wayne Wayning's I'm saying the last thing wrong. Uh, yes,
win Win Marvin Winings. Who is he is in relation
to C. C, B B. The whole Big Gospel family.

Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
Yeah, yes, yeah, I thought you was talking about Marlon.

Speaker 23 (01:36:18):
Now once I say it wrong, it sticks in my mind.

Speaker 6 (01:36:20):
Wrong.

Speaker 22 (01:36:21):
So you have to say it right to me for
me to be able to say it right, but thank
you all right, So here we God talking about the Gospel.
Let the Lord rebut the okay. So so he is
in trouble or was in trouble and fred Ham had
to come out and defend him because there was a
video that went viral from a giving service that they

(01:36:42):
had last Sunday. So he serves at a church called
Perfecting Church in Detroit and they had his annual giving
day and they were he was asking people of the
of the church community to donate one thousand dollars toward
the rebuilding and uh, you know, the continued structuring of
the church a thousand dollars at a time like this,
and to additionally, you know, get other money donated from

(01:37:04):
other you know, people outside of the church. So let's
take a listen to what went viral because he was
under fire for people thinking that he rebuked a woman
who didn't come with a certain amount of money.

Speaker 23 (01:37:14):
Let's take a listen, Hi, ROBERTA.

Speaker 34 (01:37:16):
McCoy giving faith and stand in unity with the vision
of Perfecting Church or sowing this seed of one thousand
dollars plus two hundred and thirty five dollars and receiving
the blessings to come to all that participating.

Speaker 17 (01:37:30):
Now that that's only twelve hundred dollars. Yes, y'all not
listening to what I'm saying. If you have a thousand
plus one thousand.

Speaker 12 (01:37:39):
Okay, well I'm gonna work on the other hundreds.

Speaker 3 (01:37:42):
Well that ain't what I asked you to do.

Speaker 23 (01:37:47):
So Fred Hammond is like, well, Frank, it's.

Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
Like that crazy. Yeah, definitely did.

Speaker 5 (01:37:52):
So this sounds crazy.

Speaker 22 (01:37:53):
It does sound crazy when you hear just cut up
like that, and it went viral that way. But if
you go back and listen to the four church service
in the instruction, what's happening is he had people line
up in a certain order. What he's telling her, not
that her money isn't good enough, is that she came
in the wrong order and there were so many people
that lined up. He was trying to keep it structured.

(01:38:13):
So let's take a listen to his original instruction.

Speaker 17 (01:38:17):
We're gonna do this a couple of ways. Those that
have the thousand plus one. That means you're coming with
your thousand that you're giving, plus you've asked someone else
to give. Now you don't have to stop in a thousand,
and we're gonna deal. So in other words, if you say,

(01:38:39):
past the whinings, I'm coming with my thousand plus another
three thousand, then you'll say that you understand. And if
you didn't get plus one, but you maybe came with
two hundred and fifty dollars, you're gonna come say that
this is my thousand plus two hundred and fifty with me, and.

Speaker 4 (01:38:59):
We're gonna go all the way down.

Speaker 17 (01:39:00):
So I need you in order for this to work.
I need you to come when you're called with the
offering that you're bringing.

Speaker 5 (01:39:10):
I'm still confused.

Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
I disagree with all of it wrong, but it still
sounds nasty. This guy.

Speaker 6 (01:39:16):
Yeah, I don't think you should put a number on it.
Just let people donate. Let people know what it is
that you need, right, he said he needs something for
the church. Well, and then people donate whatever it is
they can donate. I don't think he should put a
number on it or line people up and say people
with a thousand go here, and people would just go ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:39:28):
That would have seemed like, yeah, just let people donate.

Speaker 7 (01:39:30):
I guess he's gonna look at it. And I was
trying to shout them out for giving that money. But
like Charlamagne said it, it shouldn't matter. It should't matter
what you're given. If all I have is seven hundred
dollars to give, and I give seven hundred dollars and
that's my last, should be grateful.

Speaker 23 (01:39:42):
Well, he's so.

Speaker 22 (01:39:44):
Fred Hayman when he came out and defended this, he said,
organizations and churches raise money for their own all the time.
Let them do what they do, basically, And I just
was taken out of context.

Speaker 17 (01:39:52):
But Ms.

Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
ROBERTA.

Speaker 22 (01:39:53):
McCoy, who was the woman that you guys heard in
the clip and pass the linings, cleared this up with
a local news affiliate be because she was getting threats
and he was getting dragged.

Speaker 5 (01:40:04):
Because you're the woman in that viral video. He did
not rebuke you.

Speaker 30 (01:40:08):
He absolutely did not rebuke me. Now there's a difference.
There was a correction because let me clearly state that
pastor gave instruction on the lines to get into I was.

Speaker 17 (01:40:21):
Calling because the whole church was giving, and it was
our day of giving, and the whole church was coming,
and we didn't want people standing the mothers.

Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
And all that.

Speaker 17 (01:40:29):
So I was calling them by increments, and and we
had someone that had given out of before and I
corrected it, and I told everybody to listen and come
when you call.

Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
And that's all that was what happened to passing the
plate around.

Speaker 8 (01:40:46):
Niggas did stop doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:40:48):
Take it out about us is like, you know what
I mean, because the reality is you shouldn't make nobody
line up because you know, there's a lot of old
people that if you need the money, you should have
people going around collecting the money from.

Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:41:00):
I mean I've been to churches where that has happened,
you know, And like he said to his defense, churches
have a certain way that they do go back and
they ask Like I've been to churches that I belong
to a church where they will come and tell like
they will come and tell ext you for whatever they need.
Everybody saw one hundred dollars a day and and then
when they tally it up, if it ain't enough.

Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
We're going to ask you to go back.

Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
I don't agree with that, and I've never agree with it.

Speaker 9 (01:41:24):
But church after that, man, I can't speak for white
churches because I've never been to one, you know, ain't
a little boring, but I but the black churches, they
do that they will go back if they feel like
not enough was.

Speaker 3 (01:41:37):
You can't put a number on somebody's offering.

Speaker 4 (01:41:40):
You know what.

Speaker 6 (01:41:40):
Somebody got, what somebody got, and you're putting pressure on
them because some of these people will spend their last
little bit of money, you know, so on the seed
in the church, Like just tell me, hey, the church
need something, and whoever wants to offer, offer, if you
got it to offer, offer and if you got it
to donate, donate it. If not, you know, keep it moving.

Speaker 7 (01:41:55):
But that's why I feel like a lot of people
don't necessarily go to church, and they'd rather watch church
on television. They rather stream it because they don't have
to deal with that. They can give what they want
to give, how they want to give, and they don't
have to feel embarrassed if they are short a little
bit or they didn't they.

Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
Got in the wrong line, and I'm gonna use that
excuse anyway. This why I don't go to church.

Speaker 5 (01:42:11):
Now, No, no, no, you know, stop.

Speaker 3 (01:42:16):
But then they have to for a couple of thousand dollars.

Speaker 6 (01:42:19):
No, no, yeah, that that just in any context, it
just sounds nasty.

Speaker 5 (01:42:24):
I get it.

Speaker 22 (01:42:24):
Well, speaking of taking you to church, as we close off,
I told you all that the Verses is going down
this weekend, and.

Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
Megan, he's going this weekend.

Speaker 22 (01:42:30):
Yes, it's October twenty fifth at Complex con with a
no limit in cash money. Yes, I'm reading something as
I'm talking.

Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
Off the top of your head.

Speaker 22 (01:42:41):
Yes, Now for the versus, Juvenile just dropped a new song.

Speaker 23 (01:42:46):
That record is hard, that is produced by speech. It's
called you Mad.

Speaker 5 (01:42:50):
Yeah, she's talking about that.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
That's all sounds like he did what he said?

Speaker 23 (01:42:56):
Do y'all mess with it?

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
Like? Yes, I don't want to hear that the Verses
at the birst.

Speaker 9 (01:43:02):
You got still just even if you play it first, whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:43:07):
I would play because you go, you know you got
a big you gotta promote it.

Speaker 6 (01:43:10):
They don't want to hear hog back that ass up
understand ones that back and the niggas Soldier Stump?

Speaker 2 (01:43:22):
Who wins that? Who wins that?

Speaker 30 (01:43:23):
Got that fire?

Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
Who who wins that?

Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Cash money?

Speaker 17 (01:43:27):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
Live me?

Speaker 2 (01:43:28):
Who are you giving it to?

Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
That's a tough one. I'm gonna have to go with
cash money?

Speaker 21 (01:43:33):
What that?

Speaker 5 (01:43:33):
What that that?

Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
What's that?

Speaker 5 (01:43:35):
What that? That's my song?

Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
That's a tough one, but I gonna have to go
with cash money.

Speaker 8 (01:43:40):
It won't be the only one who GV.

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
I'm gonna be the only one team GV cash money,
no matter I would.

Speaker 23 (01:43:48):
Say cash money to all day.

Speaker 8 (01:43:51):
Move to the other side.

Speaker 3 (01:43:52):
I don't say cash money all days.

Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
Was cash money all day?

Speaker 13 (01:43:56):
For me?

Speaker 5 (01:43:57):
What I'm saying cash money all day?

Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
Then?

Speaker 22 (01:44:00):
But y'all probably it's probably not gonna sound right, Oh
my god, what I was going to say, because my
favorite because no limit. After a while, some of the
songs that they're going to play, it might not still
be circulating as much as a lot of cash money songs.
Like I don't know, I feel like there's certain songs
like you know, like you have those records.

Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
They both do.

Speaker 22 (01:44:27):
Generationally though, like when you go to because there's gonna
be a huge crowd at complex condics, so you all
different ages, will all those songs go through all those
different generations on both sides.

Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
I trust they getting ready cash Money.

Speaker 9 (01:44:40):
Everybody who's going is getting ready. They spinning back everybody's
records so they can know what the.

Speaker 5 (01:44:44):
