Speaker 1 (00:01):
Geist.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I'm a homegrow that knows a little bit about everything
and everybody.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
You don't know if you don't lie about that. Right, Hey,
y'all was up.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's Lauren de Rosa and this is the Latest with
Lauren de Rosa. This is your Deli Dig on all
things pop culture, entertainment, news and all of.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
The conversations that shake the room. Baby.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I feel like we haven't been in studio for a while,
like we've been doing so much. We were in Philadelphia
for the Norfolk Dell State Game Delaware University one of course, yes,
and then we were in la for the Ebony Power
one hundred where I was honored as a media Maven

(00:43):
for what we do here on the Latest with Laura Rosa,
the podcast and also our work that we do over
at the Breakfast Club so Low Ride as. That is
a congratulations and a shout out to you guys, because
if I made the list, it's because of y'all. So
y'all made the list. We was outside and then we
headed to d C. I did it live conversation with
mar Saint Martin for the HBCU First Look Film Festival,

(01:04):
which was an amazing conversation just about everything she's doing
in the space of not just being talent, but like
creating uh you know, television and movies and from a
very young age too. I mean she's actively doing it now,
but I mean with the with the movie Little and
doing that with her family at nine years old and
where she is now. Super inspiring conversation. I love being

(01:25):
in conversations with people that are doing things that I
want to do, that I am learning from. But then
following that, y'all.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Who are got little hair somewhere here on my lip?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Following at Tamaron Hall, drum roll please, Tamaron Hall aired, Yeah,
so aired live on not Live, but it aired on TV.
It aired on ABC, and then after that it also
hit their YouTube channel, So you guys will be able to,
you know, go and check that out in full. But
I definitely wanted to take some time to talk about

(01:59):
it full and like just react on my experience here
on the Ladies with Lorna Roses. So first of all,
let me just say that it's just it's fire for
me to be in these spaces as a person that
is like learning as I'm going. So being in the newsroom,
you know, it's a very different experience than what I'm

(02:20):
experiencing now with the Breakfast Club. And we've talked about this,
it's a big part of it is just like you know,
you guys get to know me a little bit more personally.
The story comes from me versus an outlet. Even if
it comes from Breakfast Club, it's me that you guys
are hearing and seeing or centering upon.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
So all that has been like really new for me.
And there is good with the bad.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
There is praise with the critique, but it's also been
a very different space for me because production wise, like
the Breakfast Club as a radio show is so different
than working in a newsroom where you know, there's like
it's like editorial and it's just just it's very different.

(03:01):
So being on the Breakfast Club and seeing the impact
of it, and I mean when I say impact, like
literally it's changed my life. And its last year year
that I've been there officially, but two years that I've
been even associated with the brand. And I was on
television in La before. So TMZ, you guys know, have
their daytime and prime time evening shows and then and

(03:24):
week week and in the daytime they come on in
between a lot of the big daytime talk shows like
I remember, you know us, Wendy.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Page six us.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I've said TMZ for so long when I talk about it,
I'm so used to talking about it as if I'm
still there. But TMZ used to come on and then
there'll be Wendy and the Page six had a show
at one point, and that was a lineup, and I remember,
you know, Ellen was there, and then tammeron Hall got
her show, and then Wendy.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Left and Sherry Shepard and all these things.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So to be in a space now where instead of
being as a part of a conglomerate because you know
of a brand, right like TMZ is in that conversation
and you know, gracing conversations with these shows.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
It's like Laura the Rosa was on The Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Club that I'm on the Breakfast Well, that freaks me
out still. I literally have days where I'm like, y'all,
I can't believe I'm here. But also Laura l Rosa
on Tamor and Hall, just like, wait, what I'm a
guest on Tamor Hall. And the craziest thing is is
that you know my goal I said this my first
day on the Breakfast Club, that I wanted to show.

(04:30):
God gave me the latest with Laura de Rosa the podcast,
and I remember doing the podcast. One of my biggest
things was trying to figure out the video. And y'all know,
it has been a labor of love for us. I
promised myself after I left Tamar Hall that I was
going to post more of my videos. And we're consistent,
like we're here, we're in the studio, the cuity looks great,
we're shooting. But it's been such a different journey being

(04:54):
the only person sitting and talking and like it's my opinion,
my voice, that's it. Like I don't have Charlomagne a
bounce off of or Envy or Jess or like anybody else.
I'm not in live conversation with someone like when I'm
here ninety eight percent of the time. Every now and
then we do have like guests, you know, very rarely,
it's me And I've always wanted a talk show to

(05:17):
be able to do that, and then God gave it
to me.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
And I was like, oh, shoot, wait, guys, so you're saying.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Like like people are just gonna hear me, like in
this room, and I've had a little bit of imposter syndrome.
So even with us uploading the videos, like when I
finally get out of my own way and I upload them,
they do so well, but a lot of the audience
is always like, why you upload your video so late?
And I'm like, y'all, it takes me a lot to
just get to the point where I want to post

(05:42):
it and want to deal with all of the like engagement,
which is great. You guys are commenting, y'all are opinionatd
y'all agree, y'all don't agree.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
It's great, But I don't know why.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
It's just been a very different journey for me because
I've been asking for this for a while, so to
be on Tamor Hall and to be there during a
podcast or episode where she's literally talking to me about
things that we've done on the podcast, mainly the Diddy trial,
which was a big turning point for us and a
big turning point for me independently. I think, you know,

(06:14):
being on the Breakfast Club, like I said, made it
elevated things, but the Diddy trial and you know, everything
that has happened since then has been a very different
world of like it's just me, and that is very
different it's a very it's like night and day. It's
also different than the newsroom because like even if it's
just your opinion and it's just your quick take, you know,

(06:36):
you speaking to an affiliate, you have research to back
you up, you have editors, you have like there's so
much more that goes into it before the world gets
all of this stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
And I have to think like that for myself. Great
thing to learn.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Because I was talking to Marsee Martin in DC at
Howard and we'll have that conversation here on the podcast.
I'm ana get it to you guys this week so
you can hear it as well. And one of the
things she was, you know, talking about to the students
and honestly to me, I was listening, it's just about,
you know, she uses her everyday experiences and her voice
and things she likes, she doesn't like, doesn't like, her trials,

(07:12):
her eras you know, the hard time people give her,
not crediting her for certain things because she's so young,
and all the ups to create the content in and
know even what type of people she wants to work with.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
That she does it.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
And I was just listening to that, and then I
went to Tamrahan and I'm like, girl, you got like hello,
Like the the mic is on SIS, Like is this
thing on the mic.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Is on five million downloads?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Like you gotta stop, You gotta wake up like you
And I'm not asleep at the wheel, but when I
say wake up, it's more like step into it. Like
you're not an imposter. You are here, You're driving this vehicle.
The show is here, the people are tuned in. What
you gonna do about it besides step up and do
what you're gonna do what you say gonna do. And

(08:00):
we're delivering our episodes daily, you know, and everything as well.
On the audio side, but video y'all has been I've
been like, you gotta do better.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
You're gonna do better.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
And don't get me wrong, my audio listeners, I will
always make sure I have audio only exclusives for you guys,
my little riders on the audio side, because y'all been
rocking me since day one. We ain't had no video,
so make sure I always do that. But being on
Tammer Hall just really motivated me to want to like
get this out there more and also the video aspect,

(08:29):
but also just to hone my skills, like I was
watching her navigate throughout the conversation and and you know
the first thing, you know, when we sat down, she
was just so personable. So we sat down and I'm
the crowd is going like because mind you, like, you
know they're there. They hype the crowd up before the
show starts, but when you walk out, it's just you,

(08:49):
the crowd and her and the reaction like we had
to wait a second for people to calm down, just
for us to speak. And I'm like, man, like all
these people are here and excited for me, let's take listen.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Goodness, Yeah, I'm getting a who w y'all y show
and jah that one a b. Thank you for joining
wherever you are good dum wow, thank you going once

(09:33):
for joining untow. Thank you man. I'm so excited about
this show to day. Yes kay, y'all, hi, Hi listen,
I am so excited about this show.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
And when you talk about things being such a good feeling,
it's like, you know, one of my biggest things I
feel like I prioritize and I always say to myself
and maybe I'll make myself a little anxious by saying
this too, is that as much as people are like saying, hey,
we love what you do and all the things. I
want to make sure that like that's not making me

(10:22):
be comfortable, Like I still want to like go hard.
I still want to be inquisitive. I still want to
show up trying to learn. I still want to like
when I mess up, like Lauren, you messed up, you
gotta do better, Like I just want to make sure that,
like now that people can see it and can hear
and it's tangible. This you know, this dream that I've
had in my head for so long of like what

(10:44):
I would be doing, how I would be doing it.
It's literally like I'm waking up every single day, y'all.
I swear I'm doing exactly what I've always dreamed of doing, right,
But because I'm here, I just want to make sure that,
like the quality stays here as well too, the quality
of the work. So you know, I get emotional or
got emotional there because you know, it's just take a

(11:07):
little while. Like I am grateful every single day just
to be able to pay my bills off of the
things that I love to do. Because there was a
point in time where I was working so many other jobs,
I lived so many lives career wise, just because I
was waiting for entertainment to pay the bills. So I'm
just grateful for that as well. But it's just like
a I'm really here doing this type of thing. And

(11:29):
I've always heard people speak about imposter syndrome. And I
had a friend asked me one time, like, how.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Do you get over that?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Because you're in a space now where you know what
you want, You've demanded what you want and you continue
to and you know how you want people to deal
with you, and you know how to instruct people on
your team. But I feel like as you walk into
new doors and new levels and you know you're dealing
with different things, that it creaked right on back up
into you. And I was watching myself on Tamor Hall
and I realized, I'm like, you've been dealing with a

(11:56):
post syndrome. Like this conversation I have with tamer Hall,
and she actually brought up, you know, a good point
of you know, just fighting your way into things. And
I don't like it when people use the bully in
my way onto the Breakfast Club And that was shout
out to Carlos King that that interview I did there.
People always bring it up and always bring up that line.

(12:18):
And I know people bring it up because it's such
a strong, like you feel it, but I don't like
it because I don't know. I just don't want it
to sound like aggressive. But I mean, shoot, I did
keep showing up and didn't go nowhere. And another thing
too that I thought was like really interesting with Tammer
and Hall was in real time. I think I realized

(12:43):
what my needs she was. So me and Tamer Hall
were talking about the Diddy trial and she's talking about,
you know, because she's a seasoned journalist, like she's been
doing this for some time, and she's talking about, you know,
what drew her to the platform and she found out
about you know, the Ladies with Laurna the roads of
the podcast during trial, and I have gotten a lot

(13:04):
of critique about the fact that, like I take you
guys on a journey with me, I'm taking you out
to different events we on the road. I remember one
episode I did literally from the car at the BET
Awards because I needed to get an episode in and
I wanted it to be fresh right when I left
the awards show, and I refuse to go to a
studio and I refuse to do an evergreen episode, and
you know, but those episodes do so well for me,

(13:26):
and Tammer Hall brought up the fact that the reason
why she locked into the podcast and what made her
realize like, oh this girl has something was that raw
I'm bringing you with me, I'm barely edited. Let me
tell you how I feel for real on top of
put the story together with the facts A sick a.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Listen, we're saying, that's what I liked about and I
like about your podcast. It doesn't feel over edited. Yes,
I feel like you're kind of saying if I say
it this way, I'm gonna keep it this way. And
that's the authenticity of live reporting. Yeah, that's why I
always liked live TV because I used to tell me,
once it's out, it's out, I.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Can't get it back.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yes, and it worked for me too because people also
didn't like it.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
So now they're in the clown. Now we're getting to
the jar Art bark Well.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Did they not have liked because I love and Laura
le Rossa.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
If the Break on Earth, I don't know, y'all. My
goal and going on the Tamor Hall Show was like,
I want the world to see me in this space
and be like, baby girl need a talk show. I
want network execs to see me in this space and

(14:32):
be like, what are we developing and why haven't we
considered lorn La Rosa?

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Like that was my goal.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I have a law.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
We were talking, you know, prior to this, and I
was telling, you know, my my friends. I had my
friend Sharon Fontaine shared the beat, who is a makeup artist.
She was there, she did my makeup. Dante the hairstylist,
Dante Lloyd, Dante the hairstylist did my hair. Shout out
to Diggy dig on Instagram who was the assistant stylist,
Jamon James, who's my least stylist there as well, and

(15:02):
of course Patrick Neary on the camp.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
And all those names that I've said.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Patrick gets relatively new to the team, but he's been
working up with us since the podcast launched. But all
those names that I've said to you guys, I've known
these people since I was like twelve, thirteen years old
and we have always been doing this. Sharon has been
doing my makeup since I was modeling back in Delaware,
like in high school, middle school. Dante has been doing
my hair forever. I've known Diggie and Jayvon and you know,

(15:28):
we've worked together in the fashion space and like you know,
always and putting together my outfits and my looks for
different things and photo shoots and I've been you know,
amused of theirs for some time. So to be backstage
with them number one, that was emotional for me as well,
because it's such a big moment.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
It's like, yo, we've gone from it.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
And Jayvon James, who is my least stylist, his mom
was actually there with us as well.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
She came to see the show and there's.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
A moment in the vlog where she says, like, literally,
I'm trying to get my words together to react after
I filmed, and she says.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
I don't know what you're emotional for.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
We always knew this was going to happen, and that
got me, Oh my god, I started balling because it
literally like I've always known that this was going to
be what I was doing, So to see it.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Happen, just watch you break down.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
And it's just great to be doing it with people
that like you've always been practicing doing it with, Like
you know, I do believe that like you do. Got
to meet new people along your journey and you know,
bringing new people with new ideas sometimes, but I've been
blessed to be surrounded by people who have new ideas
and who have passion and who are elevating, and they've

(16:38):
been my tribe before, and we've been doing this together
or dreaming about these things together for a very long time.
So you know, it was just natural for me to
be like, oh wait, I can put them on payroll.
Come on, let's do it. But yeah, I was back
there on backstage and I'm telling them this is how
I want to look. Like my vision for this is

(16:58):
is when those ten bam, when those tam Fam doors
open and you see Laura La Rosa walk out.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
I wanted to give I have arrived. This is my shelf.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Sorry Timmer, and I ain't taking your job, girl, but
I wanted you to feel that it's and like I
there were so many people who watched it and just
you know, the story resonates with them. But also I
think you know, we accomplished that goal visually, which was
for me, it's like everything with purpose, Like I don't
want to be anywhere where I don't understand why I'm

(17:29):
there in accordance to my purpose in my alignment from God.
Like ever, like, no matter what I'm going through whatever, listen,
I always want to be like, all right, okay, God,
Like why like why am I here?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
What am I getting from this?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
What is it that you I say that prayer before
I start anything, Like, God, I just want you to
speak through me.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
I want people to see and feel you through me.
Let's go like, let's you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
And whatever comes from this, whatever opportunity, I'm grateful for
it already and nothing comes from it. I'm grateful to
be here and be in conversation and I thank you
for for everything thus far. So that's always, you know,
one of the goals, and I think that we accomplished
it and it's it's been a very successful reaction.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
So if you guys have checked out the podcast, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
If you've checked out the full episode, please let me
know how you're feeling.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Follow me on Instagram Lauren the Roads.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
I give you guys that handle every episode, so you
shouldn't know boy now, but I want to know how
you're feeling.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I got to meet Blues Clues. What's his name? The
host from Blues Clues, y'all. I was backstage because.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
They told me it was a podcast or episode where
basically she was spotlighting people who work in entertainment but
have podcasts that like are like centered between like people
and like entertainment, so like kind of like vloggish but
like entertainment and like very like. I guess all podcasts
are people based, but that are reaching people per se.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
See Burns, what's is that? Spellers? That name? Okay, Steve Burns.
I got to meet him, Steve Burns.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yes, I was backstage and we were waiting to go
because I was a top of the show, so I
was first the first segment, right.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
And I look up and I'm like, is that the
guy from Blue Schools?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
And we're all looking at him, and everybody wanted to
say it, and everybody wanted to ask for a picture,
but we were all nervous to because you know, sometimes
when you meet a kid like not kid, because he
was a grown man, but he appealed to kids.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
He was a generational talent that spoke to children.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
A lot of times, when we meet people who have
worked in that space forever and now years have passed
and are doing other things, they don't want to relive
that they don't want to be known as just that,
so I didn't want to go up to him and
be like, oh.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
My god, Blue Schools.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Can we take a picture? Do you still have the
T shirt? But he was cool and I did ask,
I did take a picture. I did ask before I
took the picture, like, hey, it's good if we take
a picture. But it was exciting to hear about his
journey as well to in meet him backstage. So yeah,
shout out to Tammorun Hall.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
And the team over there.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
I just wanted to give you guys a little bit
of insider like behind the scenes. And well I didn't
even mention how that the moment came about. The moment
came about very organically, so you.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Know what's crazy.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
I had actually been working in like the publicist like
marketing space, so when I whenever I am without work,
it's a natural thing for me to just be able
to like help people build something or tell a story
in some way, and they paid me for it. So
that is how I was sufficing when Breakfast Club wasn't

(20:31):
able to pay me at the time and the guest
hosting was happening and I was out of TMZ just
moved to the New York had rent. You know, I've
been doing some things with ESPN and skape writing wise,
and that came to a full stop. I was like,
all right, bet, trying to get the hustle on. So
I had a couple of brands that I was working
with in the marketing and PR space, and I was

(20:52):
pitching a client, Devin Loves Numbers. He is an amazing kid, genius.
Shout out to Devin Love's Numbers and their team. I've
been pitching him for all the talk shows. Jennifer Hudson,
Sherry Sheppard, Tamer Hall and I have friends at all
these shows, right from EP to producer to AP like easily,
easy phone calls, easy text, and you know, we were

(21:14):
able to land some things.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
But in the midst of that conversation, the podcast drops.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
So in the midst of this conversation, you know, the
breakfast Club, you know, stuff is happening. I get back
onto the breakfast Club, all the things happened, the podcast drops,
and one of my homegirls who works with the Tamer
Hall show, she's a producer over there, hits me up
and she's like, hey, I've been pitching you for the show.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
A lot of us over here.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
I've been pitching you. We want to get you on
the show. Where's trying to make it work? And there
were a couple of days ever thrown at me, dates
ever thrown at me didn't work out, and I'm like,
they're not interested, Like it's not really much for me
to talk about yet, like she has like real celebrities
on her show, Like what am I gonna talk about?

Speaker 3 (21:52):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (21:54):
And that's again the producer news that's girl in me
is like you are not the story, which is I
feel like it's a great attitude for me to keep
and what I do, like I got a balance the two,
but I gotta get away from this imposter syndrome. But yeah,
so they came back again with another date and I'm like, oh,
they're serious, like they really want me to do the

(22:16):
show and we mean it happened And after I wrapped
the two producers one is still there, one is not
there anymore. She's formally a producer of Tammer Hall reached
out to me and was like, do you know how
epic it is that last year around this time you
was banging out our door trying to get your clients
on and now they're like, we need to have her

(22:36):
on this show, and not only have you on the show,
but we need to lead the show with her. We
need to have this conversation. I've been watching the podcast,
I've been watching the diddy updates. This needs to happen,
and I'm like, man, you just never know what is
in store for you, like never, And that's why I
always want to stay head down doing the work, Like
I want to make sure that that is my model,

(22:57):
Like if you don't know nothing else about me ever
in my career, I want people to be like, nah,
but she showed up the work though, or that girl
be working. That is literally what Brown Girl grinded is,
Like nah, that girl'll be grinding though, like she'd be hustling.
