In this episode of The Latest with Loren LoRosa, Loren checks in from behind the scenes as she prepares to travel to South by Southwest and the HBCU Battle of the Bands in Charlotte. Even with a packed schedule, the show must go on—and there’s a lot happening in entertainment and culture right now.

First, Loren breaks down disturbing new developments in the case involving a woman accused of shooting at Rihanna’s Los Angeles home. Police audio from the arrest has been released, and more details are emerging about the suspect’s mental health struggles and social media posts targeting multiple celebrities. The incident raises serious questions about celebrity safety, fan culture, and access to firearms.

Loren also reflects on how moments like this change the way we look at celebrity interactions with fans and the media, referencing past moments involving stars like Justin Bieber.

Then the conversation shifts to the Academy Awards race, where Michael B. Jordan and Timothée Chalamet are both in the spotlight for Best Actor. Loren explains why Oscar predictions are leaning toward Michael B. Jordan—and how comments Chalamet made about theater and ballet have sparked backlash among some voters.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
I'm a homegirwl that knows a little bit about everything
and everybody, you.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Know, if you don't lie about that. Right, Hey, y'all,
what's up.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
It's Lauren L Rosa and this is the latest with
Lauren de Rosa. This is your Deli dig on all
things pop culture, entertainment, news, and all of the conversations
that shake the room.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Baby.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Okay, y'all, So checking in behind the scenes of the grind.
I am actually preparing right now to head to Oh
it's going to be a crazy next couple of days.
I am preparing to head to Texas for south By Southwest.
It will be my first time there, so of course
I will be bringing you guys all of the good
stuff from south By Southwest. And then I'm going to

(00:48):
be heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. This is actually my
first time in Charlotte too. This is my first time
in Charlotte, like where I'm actually getting to like be
there and experience Charlotte and like, you know, all of
that stuff. I think I was there for maybe about
an hour or two before, like just flying in through
their different airports. But yes, since my first time as

(01:09):
an adult in Charlotte and I'm doing a battle, a
big HBCU Battle of the Band's there this Sunday, the fifteenth,
which is also Oscar Sunday. So it's gonna be super
busy because y'all know we tuned in and we tapped in.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
It's a countdown into the Oscars.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
So yeah, I'm literally just running around getting all things,
all life, all everything together for that.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Okay, amen.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So yeah, it's busy, busy behind the scenes of the grind,
but blessed to be busy and you know, grateful to
be busy. Still, But that's just a process because whenever
I'm traveling for work, everything still must go on, like
the show still must go on. We still got to
know what's going on. We still got to know what
the latest is. I'm always working on stories, exclusive angles,
and just trying to figure out how I can run

(01:59):
it up, how I can not running up just like
you know, making some money. But I'm always thinking about
how I can optimize, like what is a new angle
on the story? Who can I talk to on this?
How can I personify the moment? How can I you know,
all of the things. So moving around while doing that
is not the easiest because I've learned that I'm such
a sit down being my schedule, being my practice type

(02:21):
of person. But with this job, I've been blessed to
be able to go out and do things like this,
So I'm excited. And what I normally do is so
that I can stay focused on stories and still deliver
you guys a great show on Monday morning after being
at self by south West and.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Being in North Carolina and just doing all these things right.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I try to, and I'm not the biggest planner, but
I've had to learn to becoming. I overplan, overprepare, so
the packing and everything is beginning now. I am also planning, like, Okay,
what content will I be able to do while in
these places and how can I bring you guys that
in real time? And if you for any of our
other episodes, and I'm traveling to places, whether it has

(03:07):
been the Forward Cruise or Ghana or shoot. I even
took y'all to court for the Diddy Draw. Like anytime
I could take you guys actually into the scene or
wherever I'm at, I do it.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
So that helps a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
So make sure you guys tune in for those upcoming
episodes of those conversations and actually go.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
This is This is a podcast with low Riders.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Y'all know I love to treat this like a vlog
because you know, I'm a vlog girl by nature. That
you know, the vlog and is all of the things
I used to love when I could do it more often.
So y'all come everywhere with me, So stay locked for that.
Speaking of all things moving and changing, let's get into
the latest, because after her house was shot up ten times,
at least ten times, I think Rihanna is getting on

(03:52):
up out of la and I'm not mad at her.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Let's get into the latest.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
So on our last episode, if you guys have not listened,
please's gonna take a listen to that episode. I broke
some exclusive news to you guys as it was being
talked about in real time. So police released a report
to media letting us know that the woman who was
responsible for shooting at Rihanna's home at least ten times

(04:18):
because it could have been more, named Evanna Lysette Ortiz,
thirty five year old woman was arrested. Now, I told
you guys in our last episode that there have been
a ton of videos and social media post circulating that
police did not confirm with her, so at the time
I did not feel comfortable with using them within the episode. However,

(04:42):
Evanna's husband has come out and spoken to several different
outlets and just talked a bit about the fact that
Havana wasn't doing okay. She had been placed in a
psych ward down in Florida, where she is from, back
in twenty twenty three, lost her custody of her child
in twenty twenty four. All of this because of a

(05:03):
mental health issue that she battles, some schizophrenic south things,
and it paints the picture that I think a lot
of us knew, especially when you know you're talking about
someone being arrested and then being booked on over ten
million dollars worth a bell for attempted murder and a robbery,

(05:23):
and you know Homicide Department are investigating it.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
So I motive there is pretty clear.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Although we haven't heard it directly from the police officers,
we can kind of understand what they're thinking is and
even though the DA hasn't actually charged her with these
things officially.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
So that was the last conversation we had.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Now since then, there has been so much more that
has come out, So there are tons of these Facebook
posts where she targets Rihanna, she targets Kim Kardashian, she
targets Cardi.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
B And we'll play some of those just so that you.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Guys kind of understand the extent of how not like
in her mind or out of it, she was. But
I want to talk about a new police audio that was.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Released respects of female sanic blonde hair and prades despecting her.
One is a fingo sic on her in thirty years
this shown is there nineteen tenty one, it's going to
be she could be wearing a cream colored blouse seventy one.
The show Marie ferguson license.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Satus expired that.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
All white cream color seventy one. Roger Snic forty one
is asking is there an unit already following the.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Vehicle or did they need someone to follow up?

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Why?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Who in front of you? Just made the left her okay,
good place. They're making a right turn into the mall
parking lot into the.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Regal and they're going to be out of my sight.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You guys can call all forward on the tech.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
He's responsible.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Reventure right and turn into the mall parking lot of
the Regals. Every advisor is a good shooting perspect so
you can say a protocol now they have the vehicle
driver is out on his knees, or they're approaching the
vehicle down Cherry's as a vehicle unit.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
They're approaching the vehicle.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
But this new police audio that was released shows the
police officers and their joint effort to arrest a Honna.
And now the police have been saying since the first
response to the media went out that she was arrested
without incident, and in this audio you basically hear that

(07:43):
she's arrested without incident because she eventually gets out of
her car and just gets down on her knees, which is, honestly,
like this whole thing doesn't seem real, but unfortunately it is.
But when you hear something like that, that sounds like
they're ending to like a chase in a movie.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But basically, once Evannah.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Leaves Rihanna's home, the shooting is it has happened. People
have called the police. There's so many police cars in
the area that she's riding through. They're all reaching back
out to dispatch and saying, hey, we see the car,
do you guys need some help? And there's this joint
takedown effort that flawlessly happens.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
So before we get.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
To that, I want you guys to hear just some
of Evanna's Facebook posts so you.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Can just hear how out of her mind she was, and.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
The way that Rihanna wants to kill me. She's the
one who wants to kill me. The way that Rihanna
wants to kill me shows that we're not going to
show this right now, but this is my heart, Lord,
and I am expecting and waiting in that beautiful time

(08:55):
for you to show me what you're gonna do and
how you're gonna deliver this promise. It's in my heart
and it's in my vitality. And I'm very very grateful
to you for your abundant graces. But send Rihanna when
you die, God is taking me to my future. You
want to kill me? Shut the up, Okay, shut the

(09:18):
fuck up. Yeah, she's a witch. She's a witch. I'm
a watchman. She's a witch. Get that stupid girl out
of here, okay.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
And it and it really makes you think about like
celebrity and stand culture and all of that so differently,
right because when you think about Rihanna, and she has
the Navy, which are her fans. Rihanna is like one
of those celebrities that like everybody loves, everybody falls in
love with, everybody becomes a fan of and she has
such die hard fans and has for decades and Rihanna

(09:50):
and this also makes you think about is there now
a new level of like celebrities in what they can
can't do when it come talking about running around all
weekend for south By Southwest and I don't even consider
myself a celebrity, but when you're interacting with people, it
really does make you think about and move differently about

(10:14):
how you have conversations when it comes to celebrities and
what they do to protect themselves and how they interact
and why, Like let's think like for instance, like Justin Bieber.
Justin Bieber is a person who, same way as Rihanna,
has had fans that have literally grown up with him
since he was young. He's grown up in the industry,
He has stands, he has people that have feel so

(10:35):
connected to him because of that, who have went through
everything with him, from the issues he was having with
police at one time to you know, new music, to
new baby, new wife. But Justin Bieber has always vocally
and in his actions, never been one that cared for
like the paparazzi and people violating his privacy. Just a

(10:57):
few days ago, there was a video of Justin Bieber
leaving out of a location and he was pissed that
the cameras were there and filming him and his wife.
As they were getting into the back of a car,
he threw a water bottle at them. And every time
people talk about Justin Bieber and his issues with the media,
it's always a conversation of like Justin Bieber goes crazy

(11:19):
all the time when he comes to the media.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Media, Justin Bieber goes off on the media.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Like I think after something like this, the conversation needs
to be Justin Bieber does things to protect himself and
let it be known that he doesn't want people in
his private space. Rihanna's the type of person where I've
seen you know, cameras and especially when me used to
when I used to work at TMZ. I remember one

(11:44):
time we ran into Rihanna and she was leaving a
grocery store and she was down to talk and she
you know what I mean, Like, she's a whole lot
more of a different type of celebrities.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
She's approachable, she's relatable, and.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I mean, you would hope you want to say, I
hope something like this doesn't change her because for a
lot of celebrities and creatives and artists, they we thrive
off of the people, Like I love being out and
about what the people know, what's going on, being on
the ground, understand like you know all of those things.
But it is a scary situation when you see something
like this where it's like Rihanna could have literally been hurt,

(12:18):
if not hurt killed by a woman who in all
reality isn't even mentally stable enough to understand the actions
that she's doing. So how dare we get upset at
like a Justin Bieber or you know, anybody who feels
like I mean a Kanye West was going through at
one point too, who feels like they need to do

(12:42):
more to protect their privacy. Yeah, man, this is this
is such a this is such a crazy conversation to
be having around Rihanna. And there's a there's a new
report circulating that Rihanna has you know, packed up and
left LA. There was a private jet that was leaving
private airport in LA that is used for celebrities on

(13:05):
their private jets and their private planes. Police are still
outside of Rihanna's home the investigation it still continues.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
I'm not mad at her for getting the hell out
of la.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
If I was Rihanna, I probably would not be able
to live in that house because now we're also finding
out she was in that house with her kids from reports,
except Rocky was not home. She was there with her kids.
Not for sure who else might have been in a
home with her and the babies. But like, it's scary
enough when you buy yourself, but your kids are there
as well too, and now you got to kind of

(13:37):
explain if they have questions, you know what I mean,
because they're seeing these things what's happening. The line between
being a celebrity being a person who builds all this
fame and impact and influence and all of the good
that you can do with it is amazing, But then
there's always this like downside to it that is so
scary because it's like your person to Rihanna is a

(14:01):
person too, But then you have people who are just
not okay. And I think the bigger conversation in this
is we're in the US, and a person like Evanna
Lazette Ortiz, with obvious mental health issues, you know, with
obvious issues that should have prevented her from being able

(14:21):
to get a gun, not only got a gun, but
reportedly got an AAR fifteen. Like that is that is
a thought that it keeps. I can't get it out
of my mind. It's like, how does she get her
hands on a gun? That is like beyond scary. And
another thing that I think is also scary as well too,

(14:43):
is that you gotta pray that there are not people
out here that are copycats that want to go and
do like, oh my god. This is just such an
ongoing conversation. You have the mental health aspect of it.
You have the staying culture, fan culture, and you know,
celebrities wanting to like be connected and be one with

(15:04):
their fans. But like now, the safety everything is so
heightened because of social media, like in access to people
into things that we typically wouldn't have access to. So
I'll keep you guys updated here. Definitely praying for Rihanna
and her family and all of this. And as we

(15:25):
switch gears a bit, I mentioned to you guys that
we are counting down to the Oscars, and you know
what is happening right now, y'all? There is now a conversation. Well,
I'm not even gonna say there is now because one
of the things that I also get upset about is
when we only start having conversations because certain because certain

(15:46):
negative things are happening. And I'm learning in the media,
speaking of media and learning and things, I'm learning in
the media.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
That that is not the way things should go. But
Micha will be Jordan, right. Michael B.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Jordan and Timothy Chalameat are up against each other for
a huge Oscar.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Michael B. Jordan and.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Timothy Chalamey are up against each other for Best Actor
this year at the Oscars, at the Academy Awards, and
all of the odds are favoring Michael B.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Jordan's.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
So you have KOLs dot com, which gave Michael B.
Jordan a forty seven percent chance of winning the Oscar.
Timothy Chalamee has a forty three percent chance. I know
there's a study on polymarket that also places Michael B.
Jordan over Timothy Chyla May And if this, if Sinner's
movie sweeps the Oscars, they are literally going to They've

(16:42):
been making history with Baby it's going to be even bigger.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
And now people are really upset.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
They're mad as hell at Timothy chala May because of
some comments he made when he was having a conversation
with Matthew McConaughey about theater and dance and ballet. And
I don't know if he understands because he's young, but
when you talk about the Academy Awards in movie making
for real and cinema and all of these things that

(17:06):
are so old school Hollywood, you are talking to the
ballet community, in the dancing in theater community, and he
has pissed the people off. Okay, and now people believe
that this move that he just made that you guys
are about to listen to will be if Michael B.

(17:26):
Jordan already didn't have it, and I know he has it,
like it's been slated that he is predicted to win,
especially after taking home that Actors Award, But if he
didn't already have it in the bag, Timothy Chalamye in
this interview just hiled the deal.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
That's takular sack.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
And I don't want to be working in ballet or
opera or you know things where it's like.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Hey, keep this thing alive, even though, all respect to
the ballet and opera people out there, I just lost.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Fourteen cents in viewership. But I just took shots for
no reason. That's no shot to hear what you say. Yeah,
So thank you guys so much for tuning in.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
It's been another episode of the Latest with Lauren le
Rosa and yes, counting down to the oscars and counting
down to all of the running around that. I told
you guys that I'm going to be doing this episode
and I'll be taking you guys into all of these experiences,
because I mean, what's the Latest without you, guys being
on the beat, in the pulse of some of the
biggest moments happening in culture and entertainment right And I

(18:28):
tell you, guys, every single episode, y'all could be anywhere
with any old body listening and talking about all these things.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
But you guys choose to be right here with me,
my lowriders.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
I appreciate you for that, and I'll catch you in
my next episode.
