This This is KFA in News withChris Hockey, presented by the Saint Paul
Saints. Good morning, Zach Calverson. Here in for Chris Hockey. It's
the News on the Fan presented bySaints. In the saintspaceball dot com,
where you can find all your informationon the Saint Paul Saints, including their

(00:24):
upcoming schedule and promotion. Some greatstuff coming up over at chs Field.
Get down to today Saintspaceball dot Calm. Here we ready, Corey, Yeah,
We're ready. All right, herewe go. Minneapolis City Council deliberating
on a proposed change to the city'sTobacco Products Ordinance, aiming to set a

(00:46):
minimum price of fifteen dollars for mosttobacco items excluding taxes. The plan also
seeks to eliminate coupon usage, increasepenalties for selling to minors, and close
a loopolo indoors smoking in some establishments. They are emphasizing the public health benefits

(01:06):
of such measures, targeting tobacco relatedillness immortality, particularly affecting communities of color.
However, concerns arise regarding the potentialimpact on businesses, with some arguing
that against the price I claiming itmay not deterear smoking and could adversely affect
sales. We have learned over thelast Handle leaders that Zach Alberson is triggered

(01:26):
by about five or six different things, the number one being the cooke Freestyle
machine he hates. But we've alsolearned that taxing nicotine or specifically cigarettes,
even though he's a non smoker, drives him up the wall. So a
fifteen dollars minimum tobacco product sale orprice, Zach your thoughts when we talk

(01:49):
about gambling laws. We don't needyou to be a gambler for you to
want, you know, us tohave the freedom to gamble. When it
comes to marijuana, we don't needyou to smoke weed. We just need
you to understand that some people liketo smoke weed. So I like to
return the favor and say, listen, I you know, if we're gonna

(02:10):
make it, if you want tomake it illegal, then we can talk
about that. But as long asit's a legal product, I just fifteen
dollars, I just already that almostthat Yeah, in Minneapolis, it's already
insane. So bend your hands up. Okay, So my rebuttal is I
am. I am definitely pro humanchoice on what you want to do on

(02:36):
a lot of things, except maybewhen your lifestyle and health choices affect how
much I pay in health insurance. So look, if you want to live
a lifestyle where you're gonna knowingly suckdown cancer sticks, okay, get your
own health care. So the numberto the Minnesota State Legislature can look it

(02:58):
up for you. If you wantto make it legal, we can do
that. But until it's illegal, then you don't get to talk about pricing
because now you're meddling in the privatesector and private business and you're taking I
think anything anything to deter outside Iget it out. I want to come
down hard and maybe we do.Is we get a big plank, a

(03:19):
big wooden plank, and you haveto walk on it with your hands wide
out wide, and you have tobalance yourself on your way, and then
if you can make that walk tothe other side, then you can get
the cigarettes. We can just keepmaking harder at making it harder and harder.
How about that you have to wina game of initials to to you

(03:40):
know, get an opportunity to buycigarettes when we where do we stop here?
Well, that would be great forme as long as they go to
Initials game dot com and but yeah, that'd be good. That would be
a lot of money for me.That would be fantastic. That's what we
should do. Just get every singleuh cigarette seller in Minneapolis an Initials game
and if you want to buy apack of initial or a cigarettes part of

(04:03):
Initials. Yeah, it's it's fine. I mean that against making it illegal
necessarily. I'm just against making it, you know, trying to you know,
tax a living hell out of peoplewho are trying to participate in a
legal product. Now, if there, if there was a way that they
could take that tax hike, thatprice hike, which is basically just going

(04:25):
to be gigantic margin for the actualcost of bringing these these products in,
if you would take that percentage andgive it to the healthcare communities and and
these companies. I know that's crazybecause they already make billions of dollars.
Any way that it can reflect ongetting lower premiums for people that actually try
to make good health choices, I'dbe okay with that. Now, I

(04:46):
don't have any faith that that couldhappen because nobody's actually going to like follow
the guidelines and actually do it legally. There's going to be corruption all along
the way, and people are goingto pad their pockets. But in an
idyllic world, fine, if youwant to increase the price hike, then
you got you got to give thepeople that are trying to make better choices
a little bit of a break. Is the Minneapolis City Council not factoring in

(05:10):
that meat sauce? Paul Lambert Onesaid that the coolest success rate you can
possibly have is smoking a cigarette.I mean, why are we charging people
so much to look cool? Imean we're a pretty hip city. Yeah,
why not a massive tax on alcohol? Yeah? I think that's a
good choice. You know, youknow how many people, uh, you

(05:30):
know, the tax burden on peoplewho drink and do stupid things on that.
If we only tax the hell outof alcohol and then maybe that can
go into you know, a fundto make it so, you know,
we can spend less on police.See. I will be zach, I'll
be hypocritical. I would be alittle upset if they were gonna they're gonna
increase the cost of booze across theboard. But I would say, the

(05:55):
the catch is what I drink. The result of me drinking does not directly
affect the people standing next to you, you know, well, not in
a sense that cigarettes smoke in anyany sort of area as I'm walking.
I don't want to smell yourself.I don't want to inhale your cigarette smoke.
Okay, Well if I do hotbox, sit in your own car.
Okay, what if I do thathot box stuff is sweet? I

(06:17):
mean, we can talk about itwas that way too. You can talk
about you know, trading cigarettes likelike marijuana, and that you can't do
it publicly. We can talk aboutthat that bad weed. It doesn't smell
good. I mean, yesterday Abbotripped us for what he called quote pot
talk, which sounds and I said, let's start a podcast, Yeah,

(06:39):
a hot talk. I go.I didn't like the way that sounds.
Let's rolls right off the tongue.Hot talks. Also, when marijuana becomes
I mean, you look at someof these states that of legal marijuana.
The taxes is obscene on it.But you know they're making a lot of
money. We gotta you know, but like Nevada, the weed tax in
Nevada is obscene. We're kill Theweed tax in la is obscene. Oh,

(07:01):
California, they've basically gotten back tothe black market, because there's no
reason why why would you buy itlegally when you can get it for half
priced from correct the guy down theroad, which, by the way,
shockingly might happen with cigarettes, inwhich case you have fun with that.
I'm surprised. It probably already doesit? Does it does happen? I

(07:24):
know that's that's good. That's abig thing in Europe, supposed to illegal,
illegal activity. But I mean,my god, fifteen dollars for something
that I don't even want costs likea dollar. Well, whatever, Zack,
have you ever thought about running forpublic office? I no, too

(07:46):
many skeletons I don't have. Yeah, no, it didn't work out.
They'll talk about the education. They'llprobably pull up the transcripts and read it
out publicly. They already did that. Let's pull up white bear leg probably
smarter than seventy percent of the peoplein front of me. But wait,

(08:11):
no, in the in my class, I was gonna say, I mean,
you got sauce, but the otherthree of us, go after yourself.
You're not smarter than those guys.Yeah, not smarter than those guys.
Yeah, leave those guys alone.Time. The idiot yeah you got
more? Or was it just acigarette bit? I mean, I mean,
if the rest of it's not worthit, just skip it. I

(08:31):
will just say it because I thisis interesting to me and some other people
that the University of Saint Thomas isdelaying their new planned arena because of environmental
impact, which sucks. So wereally need that arena and it's gonna be
delayed. So lame. Okay,I like this. I like this,

(08:54):
like little version of what grinds Mikeyears. Yeah, this is good.
Yeah, little Andy Rooney of Zach. O's trying to stay consistent as best
I can. Maybe we should dothat, just like five minutes a week,
just let Zach air his grievances. What's pissing off Zach this week?
And it's gonna be something so outof nowhere it's going to confuse us all.

(09:18):
Oh, before I do sports, can I tell you what I saw
yesterday on my way home. Andit was the weirdest thing I've ever seen
in my entire life. I feellike this is one of those things where
we should go to the phones andhave the fans. But is this gonna
be another guy with no head?Great point? No, this is this

(09:39):
the babaduke no real thing, realone legit. It's not an alien,
it's not a wizard. All right, there's a chance that this vote is
going to be split, as theresfour of us. But Ben, do
you want to hear this when weget back or not? I guess I
have to. That's a yes,Zach m hmm, thanks too? Yes
is Max? You know I'm rollingwith my boys. Sauce man, Come
on, yeah, I guess Idon't have to vote. What a tease?

(10:03):

the Power to Your Morning Show.It is Thursday, So Ben Leber is
here. Parker Fox and the Gofor Basketball team joins at eight. Mike
and Nory, assistant coach of theMinnesota Timberwolves ahead of the Suns Wolves first
round matchup on Saturday. We'll joinus at eight thirty. Max is there,
Zach is there, I'm Corey Kove, that's Mesaus Paul Lambert Sauce.
You said you have a story youwould like to tell us. We voted.

(11:16):
It was unanimous, kind of yeah, oh, you're the only one
that didn't want to. But maybehow do you know I wouldn't have said
yes because you hate me. We'llsee it one today with the program password
draft. My draft board is complete. If you had the Latin ranked one
through eight, if you had thelast pick and I was the last one
on the board, you'd just sayI'm not playing and you'd walk out.

(11:39):
I'm not happy right now? Whybecause you clearly looked at my draft board.
Yeah, you would you I'd bethe last person you'd want to play
with. Pick A simple, hesays, walk out of the draft.
Hoss. Yeah, whoever is playingus would get a get a first round
bomb up, it says. Pickeight says make up medical diagnosis pass out,

(12:00):
oh past Okay, I was justgonna ask about that. Was that
I blackout all the time? MaybeI just will have a medical emergency and
you guys just like let me outof the tournament altogether, just bringing coke
zero. Maybe? How come,Ben, how come you're not draftable?
How come you're not one of theeight players when he's on? Yeah,
I can't because of course you can. You can take a day off.

(12:22):
They could play it at twelve fifteen. Sure, we could work around your
twin cities live. I don't knowif you guys knew this, but you
know, but these like these thesebig boy jobs, I have no you
know, they come with like justa certain amount of vacation days. I
did not know that. Oh really, what a waste of time? Yeah?
Really, nobody should tell you whatto do? You're Ben? Uh

(12:43):
saw us? Go ahead? Okay, yes, Iday, you woke up.
No, so I left here yesterdayabout ten thirty and I'm driving home.
You did an hour and a halfa ripping. Yeah you were there.
You got ripped. I know everybodygot ripped ed. Some drive and
home on Highway one hundred and Iget off on the road that I get
off on to go home. Andit's right by what used to be the

(13:07):
Dinah High School, right then youknow that area very well yep. And
I'm not making this up now. This is a visual thing, which I
know sucks for radio. But therewas a guy who was walking down the
street and every two steps he wouldtake, he would like pop down and
like twist left and right right, not that weird kind of like how yes,

(13:33):
like the Dak Prescott worked out,Like the Dak Prescott workout exactly so
like and they were like bend andtwist. Yeah, like he would do
like a lunch he would do thisand then like oh oh, I see
okay, so like like a halfsquat and like a okay, so he's
he's doing some kind of exercise, fine, more than I'm gonna do right
sure, right, but like everybodyat that intersection is looking at him,

(13:58):
like everybody has stopped, like beforethe stop signs, and everybody's like looking
at him, and I'm like why, Like I get it. The guys
he's trying to work out. He'swearing like these goggles that made it look
like he had fly eyes, likehe was like bug eyes. It was

(14:20):
the weirdest thing I've ever seen somuch soman alright, I don't know what
he was doing. But the guywho was who saw it from right,
who had the best angle of it, almost rear ended the car in front
of him because he couldn't believe it, because he'd take two steps, twist,
turn, and then he'd like stopand look. So was he pretending
to be a fly? I think? So? I don't know what it

(14:41):
was. It was in workout gear. Yeah, no, it was actually
working out. He was in likenormal clothing. But I as I drove
as a crazy person. But asI drove now that it might have been
my neighbor, so I might wantto watch out. But as I drove
away in the review mirror, Icould see him still popping and squatting with
these like bug eye. It wasso odd. I don't know what it

(15:03):
was. So you saw a humanfly? Maybe yeah, Jeff Goldblum,
who will be back next week?I don't know what it was. It
was super odd. Great story sucks, I get that, and rich,
but you don't see that every day. That would have been a great Twin
Cities Live story. It would been, Yeah, you should find that guy

(15:24):
would never how you guys ever regrethow you voted? No, Maxwell loves
me. Yeah, No, thatwas a great story. Maxwell was fun
watching you, you know, reenactwhen don't you? Isn't that something you
would be like, like people joggingand running all the time. Great?
Cool, But popping and popping andsquatting with bug eyes on is weird.

(15:46):
But if that guy's like a newfitness guru, well then good for him.
How was his form? It wasgood? What if he's a superhero
vigilante and you're dismissing him. Whatif he's saving the Twin Cities one crime
at a time, didn't you, judge? Didn't Handcock have goggles like that?
Exactly? Yeah? Maybe it washim. It's that's exactly what it
looked like. Max. So youwere a spot on, were you there?

(16:08):
Yeah? No, that's what's oneof my clients. Yeah, I
think this guy's name was hand Ithink it was heard. There was a
a literal and figuratively they put aD in there. Maybe is that it?
That was it? That's a greatstory. Oh it's not great story.

(16:32):
It wasn't great, But I sawit yesterday and I wanted to tell
you guys, I don't want yourlive Well aware when I saw it.
The first thing I thought of it, this is gonna be great tomorrow,
and then I forgot about it tillI got here this morning. Thank god
you remember. Thank you Max.That story makes you sound stupid. That's
not true. That's not what makesme sound stupid. It's everything else stupid,

(16:52):
stupid genius like you. I foundit compelling. Thanks at the beginning,
a middle and end, rising dramaconclusion. I mean, I wish
I had a time machine, whyso you could hear it again so I
can go back and yeah, seewhat a story? See this? Fella?
Whoa whoa? Okay, would youlike to do sports? I'd love
to. It's time for Fan fiveon the Power Trip presented by All Around

(17:22):
Property Preservation. The Minnesota Twins lossfour to two yesterday due to a Cedric
Mullins walk off two run home runin the ninth. That's the Twins' fourth
straight loss. They did get agem out of Pablo Lopez. He went
six scattered two hits. At onepoint he retired like thirteen in a row.

(17:44):
He had one run, he struckout seven the off. The twins
bullpen is brutal. They gave upthree runs on six hits. They are
six and eleven, and I thinkI saw our guy Doe tweeted yesterday that
they've been six and eleven like tentimes in franch history and only once have
they ended their season above five hundreds. Did you challenge me to walk on?

(18:04):
They're off today. They battled Detroittomorrow at seven to ten. Joe
Ryan goes for your twins. That'sTwins News, brought to you by Quantum
Fiber Saw. Seventeen hours ago,you tweeted nice bullpen. I stand by
that. I stand by. Eighteenhours ago, you tweeted Pablo Lopez as

(18:25):
a stud. I one hundred percentstand by that I stand Twenty hours ago,
you tweeted draft thoughts. No otherteam looking for a quarterback in this
draft has two first round picks,so the Vikings have the best offer to
any team looking to move back, and that's why a trade should happen before
the draft. One hundred percent standby. I stand Oh, that's a

(18:48):
that's a quick question for our mockdraft that we're going to record after this.
Yes, are you going to allowa trade? Like? How should
we do that? Well, ifwe allowed trades, then we're only going
to go to the third pick, right or the fifth pick? That's true.
Well, I think I think weshould do two versions. Okay,
I think that we should just we'lldiscuss both of them, yes, yeah,
okay, yeah, I think thatwe'll we should go all the way

(19:10):
to twenty three like, which wewill, yeah, which you said already.
And then I think that we shoulddo a second one, a quick
one where okay, what what happensif Yeah. Here's here's the flaw in
the allowing trades argument. Let's say, who's who's got like picks? I
don't know, seventeen seventeen seventeen isthe Jaguars? The Jaguars? All right,
who's got the Bears? Who's pickingnumber one in our mock draft next

(19:32):
week? Ben? You are?Yeah? You are? Yeah, I'll
give you forty six first round picksfor the first pick in the draft.
Deal. Okay, I'm taking CalebWilliams. That's how that should work.
I don't get it. Why wouldI care what I give up in a
mock draft. I just I'll giveyou forty six first round picks. Yeah
we have. That's what we don'tdo trade. That's why you don't do

(19:53):
trades, right, because then youcan fake it's fake equity, it's a
fake exerc Yeah, this first round, in that first round, and next
year's first round and sixteen second rounders. Okay, that's a little bit like
monopoly money. Monopoly, But wehave to decide we have so the best
way to do it is the waywe've always done it, which it's it's
all right. If the Patriots stayat three, they're going to take JJ

(20:15):
McCarthy. But if I'm in thisspot, I'm looking to you, say
what you would do. That's whyI would try to trade with this team.
I would try to trade with thatteam. I would try to move
down to this spot. But ifI have to stay at three, I'm
taking blank. That's how it works. And then we waste everybody's time for
an hour and a half and gohome. Yeah, it'll be great.
It's fun. It's my favorite dayof the year. It is it's it's

(20:36):
your super Bowl. I'll keep going, max O. The Wolves play their
first playoff game this Saturday against theSuns at Target Center at two thirty.
The Wolves are one and a halfpoint favorites in that game, but they
are underdogs in the series. Yeah, I mean they are zero and three
against the Stuns. But I doI I still see them coming through.

(20:57):
I just don't. I just don'tthink Anthony. They've been kind of abarition
games. Anthony Edwards has not beenvery good against the Suns at all this
season. I think you just youcan't keep him down for seven straight games
or four straight games or however manygames along the series. Is so,
I still think that they're gonna comethrough. Man, if Phoenix is tough,

(21:18):
they're gonna I think the Wolves aregonna have to go a little bit
small ball, maybe not do theuh because usually they pretty much have like
Cat and our Cat Rudy and nowis one of the two of those three
on the floor at almost all times. I think they're gonna have to go
more small ball, maybe even mightbe blasphemous, might sound stupid, but
maybe even consider starting Nikkeil Alexander Walkerinstead of Mike Conley. I don't know,

(21:41):
just because I mean Nikile Alexander Walker. Looking at the stats, he's
done really well play defensively against someof the Sun's best players, particularly Bradley
Beal and Devin Booker. So he'sgonna be really key in our wing defenders
like him and Jade McDaniel's need tomake a big impact defensively because that Sun's
team is just high powered and we'veseen it. The Wolves have the best

(22:02):
defense in the NBA pretty much allseason, and the Suns have still just
shot them off the floor three differenttimes this year. So I think Nikkeil,
Alexander Walker, Jade McDaniel's, AnthonyEdwards, their defense is going to
be huge in this series. SoI expect not to get a lot of
minutes out there. And uh yeah, so I think they got Game one.
Like we've talked about the momentum, they just for the momentum's sake,

(22:26):
for confidence sake, just for theflow of the game. You got to
you gotta punch back and at least, at the very very very least make
it a close game, because noneof the games against Phoenix have been close
thus far this season. You gottapun You've been knocked down three times,
you got to get back up andswing right one hundred percent. And I
mean just imagine the Target Center. It's been rocking all year. It's going
to be a next freaking level onSaturday. I'll be there. I'll probably

(22:51):
be doing fan line from there,so that'll be a lot of fun.
But yeah, it's it's gonna be, it's gonna be next level, and
that place is just gonna explode ifthe Wolves come out there and just punch
the Suns right in the mouth.Nordo and I will be the pregame to
the pregame and we will have apsports guy right at noon on Saturday.
Hell yeah, and it's for twentyWhat a better day to have the wolves
first playoff game? Yes, sir, not me, So I'll be I'll

(23:12):
be stone coldes over now. Obviouslywe have twenty will happen during the game
as well. Whoa gonna be whatthird quarter, twenty third quarter or twenty
exception mind blown? Maybe early fourthon it? Yeah, gonsmirkers only.
Oh yeah, the Wolves only havelike two wins against the Suns in the

(23:34):
last since that's not twenty twenty one, that's not good at all. But
again, it's hard to just dominatea team that much. I think gonna
win. I expect the Wolves tofight back one hundred percent. This is
a this is a not only awinnable series. The Wolves will win this
series, mark my words. Wehad two more playing games last night,

(23:55):
h Maxo, the Sixers beat theHeat one O five to one oh four.
The Sixers will play the second seasNew York Knicks. The Bulls beat
the Hawks one thirty two one sixteen, so whatever cares. So tomorrow the
Bulls will battle the Heat for thefinal UH seed and they will get in

(24:15):
to play the Celtics and the Pelicanstonight, will bat or tomorrow will battle
the Kings to see who gets toplay the Thunder. That's tough for both
the Heat and the Pelicans because he'slooking like Zion Williamson is not playing for
the Pelicans, and it's looking likeJimmy Butler. Yeah, Zions. I
mean it's and it sucks because hehad forty points against the Lakers. He

(24:36):
had the best games player his career. He was amazing and brought them back
into that game. And yeah,it looks like the Heat have some Cinderella
to him almost every year. Imean, they went from what the play
into the NBA Finals, So Ithink it's I think the Cinderella bit is
over with no Jimmy Butler pretty muchno chance. I mean, the Bulls
aren't that good of a team,so they could probably beat the Bulls.
But once you face off against Boston, which could have been an interesting series

(25:00):
of Jimmy Butler was healthy, Ithink that'd be a sweep. So tough
luck for Miami. But freaking Phillyversus New York is gonna get greasy.
Man. That Philly team was upat the top of the Eastern Conference for
most of the year until Joel andbgot hurt. And that's why you saw
some of those teams in the EasternConference on that last day. They did
not want to smoke. The Buckswere not trying to win their game.

(25:21):
The Cavs were not trying to wintheir game. Nobody really wanted to play
Philly. They didn't look the bestlast night because Joel Embiid is still ailing.
But if he can get back healthy, man, that series is going
to be a hell of a series. Well said, do you guys care
about the playing tournament? Did youguys watch it at all? I don't
care about it. I watched itinto it? No you not really?
I then nope, Zicho, that'ss mac. I thought it was.

(25:45):
I mean yesterday for sure, becauseit's Lebron and Steph Curry and I mean
it's it's it was the end ofthe Warriors dynasty or probably the last time
that we see Steph Clay and Dremondplay together. So I definitely made sure
to watch that because that's that's historical. Man. Same thing with the Lakers
game. So I like to playa tournament. It's a lot of drama.

(26:07):
The NBA yesterday announced that they weregiving Johntay Porter a lifetime ban for
violating the league's gaming rules. Hehe gambled a lot, and he is
now never going to play in theNBA again. At one point, they
said that he gave an NBA betterto place an eighty thousand dollars parlay that

(26:30):
would have won the gentleman who betat one point one million dollars wagering that
Porter would underperform in a March twentiethgame. Tough rank for John Tay Porter
right one point one million DraftKings didnot pay that bet out because they red
flagged it. Help me make itthrough the night. As I said about

(26:52):
an hour ago time time, ifDavy and I are doing the same thing
and he's making one hundred and seventynine twenty nine million dollars for a five
year contract, life's pretty kill makeit you know what. Speaking of that,
I think the NBA should just uhyou should just take Michael Porter Junior
off the off the team, justto the Nuggets, just you know,
just in case, just in case, we know, we don't know for

(27:14):
sure what's going on. I thinkyou know, you know, if Porter's
in on it, that the Jokerhad some gambling. Uh, exactly,
sure, Jamal Marie and Joker gotto go. Is to spend them all
until we know for kilt an unassailablefact, you know, just to spend
them all guilt. And you heardsome stuff about SGA and Chad too,
right, yeah, that they wereinto this stuff. So all right,
the thunder or out. The Nuggetsare out. Celtics probably did some gambling.

(27:40):
I think what you guys are doingis irresponsible. Yes see, I
get it, Ben, I'm onyour Yeah see, I'm not. I
want no part of what you guysare taking. I don't want any of
that smoke. Mark Andrey Fleury issunning a one year, two point five
million dollar extension with the Wild Zacho. The Wild play their final game tonight
against the That's Hockey. I thinkone more for the road. You know,

(28:03):
we'll really not learn much at all, but it'll be a fun night.
I'm sure they'll have plenty of festivitiesdown there at the X. So
it's weird. It's weird second timein like ten years or something that we
haven't been in the playoffs. Soyou are elected. Great, but go
Wolves, I guess the rest ofthem. Yeah, Vikings news when we

(28:26):
come back. Brian O'Neill playing Initialsat A fifteen. He makes his initials
debut on the Power to a morningshow. That's going to be super cool
to have a Pro Bowl tackle inthe mix tomorrow to play initials. He'll
join us around this time tomorrow,so probably be here for Vikings News and
then hang with us the rest ofthe way, including Initials at A fifteen.
But we'll talk to draft and somemore with Bett Leeber, former Minnesota

(28:48):
Vikings linebacker. After this on theVan Man, it's time for Vikings use
on The Power Trip presented by JoeHey. Did you guys know the Draft

(29:10):
is one week from today? Itis? It is. The Vikings have
picks eleven and twenty three in roundone. Ben on Draft night, you're
a part of the broadcast. Iassume what are you guys? Doing well.
I think that we're going to sitthere on the main stage. Who's
who's we upa church and bursch chargeand Bursis you guys sitting wax poetic?

(29:33):
Is this that US Bank Stadium?Where is that US Bank Stadium? On
the floor, big stage, Lotsof peeps, lots of interest her,
lots of tickets been sold. It'sgonna be crazy, lots of beer,
lots of food, lots of pompand circumstance. They will both be there.
All right, Let's stop for asecond think about what we've been saying,
the range of anticipation and optimism versusoh boy, this draft sucked.

(29:56):
Can you imagine being there and it'sgoing to be packed and the patriots around
the clock, and all of asudden we have a trade and the Vikings
logo pops up. That place isgoing to explode before the name's even called,
it's going to explode. And thenit doesn't matter if it's Macarthy or
May, They're going to go absolutelynuts. Yeah. And then then I

(30:17):
hope, I hope that Quacy justfor the bit, just really slow plays
the call in to the very lastmoment. Yeah. Wait, the full
ten minutes yeah, wait the fullten minutes, It'll be like trade.
It goes up on the board.Vikings now have the third pick, and
then I think they just wait, does just milk every second of that thing

(30:38):
and then and then Goodell will justslowly walk up even though they don't when
you make that trade. You know, so if you hit to bed,
is that what is the most likelyscenario? The Vikings pick a quarterback at
number three? I don't think theygo as high as three. You think
it's four or five? Which onewhat's more likely? I think it's more
likely four. You think it's four. I think if the Cardinals are willing

(31:00):
to not go I think Marvin HarrisonJunior and go down to eleven. Yes,
hey, Ben, can I askyou another question? Sure? Football
related question. So as we piecethis thing together and we look at all
the packages that teams can provide toget up to get a quarterback, right,
yeah, and you look at theVikings. We've talked that into the

(31:21):
ground, but we're going to continueto talk about it because the NFL draft
is the absolute best. You lookat a team like Denver, right,
they don't have a lot of draftpicks because of the awful awful trade for
your favorite quarterback. I don't thinkthey don't have a second round pick.
They do not, And you hearpeople the GYPA had on talking a lot
about well, you know what theycan do. They can put Patrick Sirtan,

(31:47):
who's twenty four, into a trade. But if you're a team like
New England and you know the goalto put this thing back together is to
get as young and cheap as possible, right, why would you take as
good as he is? Why wouldyou take on a player like Patrick certain
in his last year of his contractand he's probably going to be the highest

(32:08):
paid corner in the league a yearfrom now. It's a good question,
and you have to debate and talkto talk internally that do you think Christian
Gonzalez, who they drafted last year, who we all wanted, who we
all wanted, very good player?Yeah, very good? Do you need

(32:29):
to pair him up with a guylike Certan or do you think Jonathan Jones
is good enough for now? Goodenough for now? I don't know.
That's that's obviously a question that theyhave to ask. I think the likelihood
of both Peyton's bottole eyes, andI think that the team Peyton I don't

(32:52):
think that they have enough to move. I don't think they do either.
I know that they desperately need aquarterback. They want a quarterback. I
think that they're really fine sitting atThey're not fine, but I think they
have to settle with the reality thattwelve is where they're going to be.
Now, maybe maybe they move upa spot or two. They maybe they
try to leap frog. Let's saythey try to leap frog us against you

(33:14):
know, go to the Jets orsomething like that, if if we're not
moving. But as far as thembeing players to go up to three,
four or five, I don't seethat happen. They don't have the poppet
on it. And you can say, and we've talked, and PA has
brought this up a lot when peoplewhen we first got that twenty third overall
pick, and you say, well, you got to give him everything,
because what does it matter. Youknow, Quzy might not be here when

(33:35):
those picks happen. What does itmatter to Sean Payton because if he gets
it wrong, he's probably gonna beout. But you can't say I'm gonna
give you twenty this year's twenty firstround pick twenty five twenty six, twenty
seven, because if it misses likethe Russell trade did, you're gonna have
the worst roster maybe in NFL history. Right. So I just don't see
how that team has the AMMO toget up into that three four five range

(34:00):
because I don't know why you wouldtake Patrick's certain as a stud corner,
but you're basically just taking their carpayment. You're gonna have to make that
expensive car payment next year. Yeah, And I don't and I don't think
that they I don't think that thePatriots or anybody else is looking at their
roster saying we're we're a cornerback awaywhen you're a large corner back, a

(34:22):
large contract cornerback away from being asuper Bolken because you could take Cooper Dejene
at the twelfth pick. At thetwelve pick, yeah, you're gonna have
a lot of young guys to correctcorrect. Yes, So I think the
likelihood of them moving up. Ido worry a little bit about the Raiders
just because they are I think theythey have shown that they're sort of against

(34:43):
the grain. Contrarian can be aggressive. I think Michael Penox in their movements.
The thing is if they fall inlove with one of the top four
and they think that, Okay,Pennix will be a consolation prize. Maybe
we're not super excited about Pennix, then they might move up. But the
more that we distill this thing down, I'm not sure we're gonna have a

(35:05):
ton of competition to move that highup. I don't and correct and I
don't think they can with what theyhave. And you hear people say,
well, wouldn't you rather have ayou know, you'd rather have next year's
pick as opposed to eleven and twentythree. Why you don't know what next
year's pick's going to be. Becauseif you go back to last year's draft,
you look at Houston. When Houstonmoved up to that three spot,

(35:29):
I guarantee you no. They thoughtthe Arizona Cardinals were going and I people
tweeted this, the Arizona car Excuseme that Houston Texans from twelve to three
wherever they went, just gave upthe number one overall pick and next year's
draft to move up for a defensiveend. No one thought they would be
that good. Right, So youevery pick, unless it's the Patriots first

(35:51):
round pick next year, you probablydon't know where it's gonna be. That's
why with the twenty third overall pickthat the Vikings have, they can get
immediate return turn on their investment withthat pick in Thursday's draft as opposed to
a year from now. The Vikingspackage is the most valuable package that is
available to any team looking to moveback. Yeah, it's a girthy,

(36:12):
good looking package. I will saythat in the last one of the mock
drafts. Now, there's thousands ofmock drafts out there. One of the
mock drafts on a national level thatI just saw yesterday was we keep talking
about I think maybe you know, two or three weeks ago, it was
like swap picks add twenty three andnext year's first that'll get shipped to three
or four. And I was evenlike, Okay, if you nail it,

(36:34):
I'm fine with that. Yeah.I saw a mock draft yesterday that
was it's swap of a swap oftop picks twenty three and next year's third
round pick. I'm like, ifthat's the compensation package, you do that
today a thousand times over do ittoday. Absolutely. Yeah. So if
that's what we're talking about, that'sthe range of value that we have to
give up to move up that manyspots. I think that's a no brainer.

(36:59):
You may have sweeten the pot anduse next year's first if there were
other teams competing to move up,But like you and I just broke down,
I don't think that that's gonna bethe case. I think there is
a team, either Denver or orLas Vegas that is sitting there going we
love bon Nix or Michael Pennox. We are We're just gonna sit here and

(37:20):
we're gonna wait because both of themwill probably be available at pick ten or
thirteen. And I was telling youduring the break and I and you know,
I'll regurgitate this thing a couple timesover by the time we get to
next Thursday. I will say thisthe one thing that we are not privy
to. Okay, we're not privyto the the in house meetings, the
sit downs, the conversations, thepersonality assessments and all this other stuff.

(37:44):
So when I talk about this thequarterbacks that I like, it's purely based
on what I've watched on film, what they do on the field. I
think Michael Pennox is the second bestquarterback in this draft based on what I've
watched on film. You have toconsider, you have to consider injury history.
And I get that there are redflags all over the place. You

(38:05):
put two red flags in his kneecaps and another red flag in his shoulder
non throwing shoulder. That's the biggestrisk if you if you trust your staff
and you're like, look, thesethings are fully repaired. There's no there's
gonna be no arthritic damage. Youdon't have future you know, uh issues
with his knees from just a boneon bone issue. And his shoulder that
was a fluke thing. It's evenif he re injures the non throwing shoulder,

(38:30):
it's gonna be fine if you getthe green flag from your training staff.
I think that he is the bestbest physical traits to transfer to the
NFL, more than immediately when I'mtalking you know, short turn, turn
main along. I think more sothan Jayden Daniels. I think more so
than Drake May, more so thanJada McCarthy. But people aren't gonna take

(38:52):
him because of the red flags. That's that's it. I think. If
you watch, if you watch thetape, the dude is fan stick and
everything that you ask him to do. If you if you want him to
run more if if you empower himto be like, hey man, you're
actually really fast, and we loveyour athletic ability inside the pocket. There
are times where you can just scrambleand we're fine with that. You don't

(39:14):
have to look for a receiver downthe field. If that's the the evolution
of his game, he's as dangerousof a runner as Jaden Daniels is.
So let me let me ask youthis. Let's say they stay put and
they take him at eleven. Whodo you take at twenty three? Because
you have to. You have totake him at eleven, right, you
can't wait? Yeah, you youjust take him then the best available defensive

(39:38):
tackle, edge or corner that youget to that point, and I think
that's where you focus. You addressyour quarterback. Now you got to you
gotta address the interier offensive line ora defensive line and probably corner, and
you know if you'll have to feelpretty good about your free agent pickups on
the edge. So maybe that's nota first round selection, but I still
think that you need to bolster quoteunquote three technique pass rush on the inside.

(40:02):
Find a guy that you can thatcan be a disruptor on the inside
at a corner. Either one ofthose solutions. At twenty three, I
think is the right thing to do. Now, lastly they move up to
three. Think how short your nightis next Thursday? It's the best.
It's like an hour. Yeah, you know we'll be out seven five.
Yeah. Well, well, wellwe'll tap dance a little bit. Tap,

(40:24):
we'll tap dance a little bit,you know, talk about the pick
and all this other stuff. We'llwait for their head coach GM that we'll
get player to come on. Youknow, we'll do our you know,
obligatory interviews, and then we out. Yeah, but if the Vikings have
a new quarterback, you could argueyou're going to do a five hour show.
That is, it's going to bejust pure fire. That we have
an advant want to go more thanfifty. He won't want you to meet

(40:47):
sauce It. No, you can'tmeet sauce It if we have a new
quarterback. And by the way,for the entertainment factor, don't trade for
the number three pick two days before. Do it when you're on the when
the Patriots are on the clock. We all want to see really dramatic which
from the Patriots, but so muchmore dramatic yeah, and that'd be great.
But what Ben was saying is Ithink some of these teams, the

(41:08):
Patriots the Cardinals are going to realizethat these other teams just won't bite.
They're not going to bite at thatcost. And the Vikings may be the
only one calling that. The Patriotsor excuse me, that Broncos are going
to go, no, we're notgoing to give you twenty four to twenty
five, twenty six, and Patrick'scertain you're out of your mind. I
think that they're going to realize thatthey only have maybe one or two suitors.

(41:34):
Yeah, I agree. And thenas you're already laid out as far
as immediate compensation packages for this year, we offer the best one, the
best we have the best available.Yep, yep, thank you. I
like that. If we do this, we're going to have almost no draft
for the next two years though, because we don't have a second and third
this year, we don't have asecond next year, and then we would

(41:55):
have to give up a third nextarea, so we would just be the
cover would be pretty bare. Ifthat one person, who I forget what
side I was on, if thatone person says it's next year's third,
Yeah, you'd have a first that'sbut then you wouldn't have a second or
third next year. We don't havea second or third. This I'm gonna
say a first round pick next year, right, But I'm just saying we

(42:15):
would have very few top end picksthe next two years. I'm willing to
gamble. I like to gamble andfor it the free agency because they're on
a cash next season. In theoff season, it's gonna be a next
fun couple of next eighteen months aregoing to be super fun. I'm telling
you, they've situated this thing fora reason. Now, if it works,

(42:37):
we don't know, and we won'tknow on Draft night if it's gonna
work, So enjoy whoever they take. H's somebody we don't want, then
let's rip the hell out of it. Yeah. But in George Fork Nation.
Yeah, that's that's come out infull force. That was very fun.
Thank you for letting me do it. Are you guys going to do
a podcast about more of your draftthoughts? Yeah? When are you doing

(42:59):
that? When he's him with hisphone call nine o'clock, Yeah, his
sex addiction hotline. I think it'sjust Tommy on the other hand, and
your dad he listens. Yeah, yeah, he just listens, all right.
