JJ McCarthy's awesome. Excuse me,but it was so abundantly clear they were
trying to get to three. JJMcCarthy could still be awesome and then we'll
forget about all this. But wedid have to settle, and I'm fine

cool with this because they got aguy that they clearly loved and then Dallas

twenty three, going we just haveto jump up a handful of spots and
we can have almost our pick ofanybody on the defensive side of the ball.
So this defense Dallas Turner at whatseventeen were the seventeenth pick in the
twenty twenty four NFL Draft, theMinnesota Vikings select Dallas Turner. Yeah,

yeah, I mean, nobody sawthat coming because everybody thought I did Dallas
Turner did. Did you see thosesunglasses he was wearing? He could see
him too the future. Yeah.He everybody thought he'd be a top ten
pick. Everybody thought he'd go toAtlanta. That's another story we can talk
about. It's no sense, itmakes no sense. No, I love
it. I love it too well. It was all Maddie is. That's
such a huge boost to us,right, We needed that was to get

McCarthy to ten or eleven? Isit being ten? That was kind of
gigantic for that not to be Whatthe hell are they? I have no
more? The Giants not taking aquarterback. We had to dodge that bowl
and I could pick six. Imean, but they were in kind about
that. They just spend fifty milliondollars on the quarterback. I don't understand
it for because and you say whatyou want, Kirk Cousins. The Vikings

never drafted a first round quarterback.They kept Sean Manion as the backup so
no one would push him for thestarting job. And he doesn't even take
a training camp practice, and they'vethey've not only drafted his replacement, this
is somebody that in a year ortwo might be the starting quarterback. It's

so odd. The only team thatyou maybe have to ask that you would
be more shocked about taking a quarterbackis the Chiefs. This is the most
shocking pick I think in a longtime. What are they doing? But
if they loved the guy that much, go get him. Yeah, But
you also, you're building a superbowl roster. That's what their goal is.

He doesn't help you win a superBowl. That's what Aaron Rodgers always
got pissed about, is Jordan,you gotta get me a weapon. Right
when you're Kirk Cousins and you goto Atlanta because you think they're super Bowl
ready, they're just a quarterback awayfrom a super Bowl. And then they
draft a twenty three year old MichaelPenox is gonna be twenty four. In
about a week and a half,he'll be twenty four. He's had about

nineteen season ending surgeries. That's theother so by the time he even gets
in there. Because Kirk Cousins dealis really a two year deal, right,
not four, it's really two.But so you're talking about twenty six,
right, maybe if Cousins plays thenext two years, you're talking Penis
doesn't take over until twenty six yearsold, right. If I think the

third deal, they'll year three.They have to decide right away. Otherwise
a chunk, a good chunk ofhis year three contract is guaranteed. I
think so it is. It isessentially they could get out after two years,
but they can't have it. HawSo if this, if they love
this guy this much and grabbed him, more teams should do that. And

I know Aaron Rodgers had said hewould be annoyed because he wanted more role
players around him and that he feltthat was a wasted pick. But a
lot of it was too I'm theguy. I don't want another one in
the room staring at me wanting totake my job. That's what it was
about. He would say, theother stuff. He would say all the
right things. But I think moreteams should do this and say, all

right, Kirk, it doesn't work, and it doesn't matter if they go
and win a super Bowl and Kirkis awesome. No one's gonna really look
at this and say, you idiots, why did you do this? Yeah,
but but it might be a goodbackup. Even but if Roma Doonzay,
the guy that was picked later asa monster, a guy they could
have used, then people will saythat it just on a team. Unless

you're picking like in the top threeand you're just a barren team and you
need a quarterback. That makes sense. But at the eighth pick, that's
a luxury pick. You take thebest player available. You take Dallas Turner,
you take Terry and Arnold, youtake Roma Doonzay, you take any
one of the other defensive linemen ordefensive ends, and you take a quarterback.
What is this Falcons family? Ijust don't just going on. I

don't get it. But I lovewith the Vikings did. And maybe the
Achilles isn't healing the way. That'sanother thing that they brought that up a
lot. Even if it's going totake him a month or so to be
ready. You don't draft a quarterbackeighth just to delay Kirk a month,
you take one in. This justmakes no sense. Again, advantage Vikings
because it was a pick that madeno sense ahead of the Minnesota Vikings.

But one of the you know,when we first hit the off season one
of the first things we all talkedabout was I would argue we did need
a two hour podcast about the secondYeah, well, nam about Buttholes.

lot of us, myself included Iwanted, let's re sign Kirk Cousins.
Let's draft the future. Yes,right. If you had said Cousins for
two or three year extension and wecan get our hands on JJ McCarthy or
Drake may or whoever, I'd pickeleven, I'd say, home run,
let's go, let's keep it going. Uh, that's exactly what the Falcons
are doing. And Kirk didn't wantthat, right, which is unbelievable.

What was the reaction at the draftparty when when Pennix was selected. I
mean there there was a shock andyeah, yeah, because that was the
most affected. I mean that iswhen I started watching after the brief run
on quarterbacks every pick, I waslike, who's going to jump up?

And when I would say the pickis in instead of it's been traded,
I'm like, yeah, just waitingand waiting and waiting and waiting, and
then the giant and watching and takea quarterback check this out. Oh so
weird. Listen, this is agreat, This is a great and he
might not even be just covering hisbutt. This is a really good point
on his point a part. RaheemMorris, the Falcons head coach, said

this about why they picked pinnicks.We don't want to be picking on anymore.
And Terry's done a nice job ofgetting some really good players, some
quality players, but we don't beback in that position. So let's move
forward. Think about the future.I addressed that right now. He said,
basically, we're going to be sogood next year. We're not going
to have a low draft pick likethis again. So we got to get
our future quarterback while we still havea number eight draft pick, because we're

gonna have the number thirty two draftpick from here on out and the Vikings
might end up with one of theirpicks or something. Well, that's the
other rummers. Somebody said yesterday thatthey might lose a first round pick next
year, that that might be thepunishment. Yeah, that was why they
did it. Here's a Rushears commentingon whether or not they did it because
of Kirk Cousins' injury. It hasnothing to do with the injury. I

think if we were fortunate enough wetalked about it to have Kirk for his
twelve year career with us, westill be in that position thinking about potentially
going to get our quarterback. We'regoing to get the quarterback for the future.
I have a quick question, andI know you can't see the future,
and I know I can. Iknow it looks like Dallas turner Ken.

It looks like Dallas turner Ken.He didn't if you started the draft
process, probably you started with youknow, in January, with all the
bowl games right December and all that, with all the bowl games, right
they played on two National TV Bowlgames Washington Huskies did. Why did you
sign Kirk? You knew you couldget him at the eighth overall ball for

sure. Why did you even signhim then? That's the other thing.
You could have taken Dallas. Youcould have taken Pennix at eight, and
then you had even more money tobuild a team around him. Why even
sign Kirk Cousins, that's my question. I don't know. But like I
said, the beauty, when Penixgoes off the board at eight and the
Vikings are three picks away, you'relike, well, now, if you

really want McCarthy, you probably gotto get up and get him. You
know, the threat of the Raidersand the Broncos, all those teams that
were right behind the Vikings. Iknow Quazy said that he had a confirmation
that other teams were interested in theJets pick, and that's why he had
to move up one spot and giveit a fourth in a fifth. Who
cares whatever, take more, Idon't care. Correct, Take as many

as you want. Correct. TheBroncos in the race must not have wanted
it too badly, because that's notlike a here's an offer you can't refuse,
right if it's Oh, they hadto move up otherwise Sean Payton was
going to do it. John Paytoncan't offer more than that to get his
guy, which means he was contentwith bon X correct. I don't think

the Vikings were content with bon Xor they were worried that the Vikings had
that additional ammunition if necessary, sosort of just putting the feelers out and
then saying we absolutely if the Vikingsso badly want to move up, they're
going to be able to offer moreno matter what. So maybe that was
enough to kind of keep them atbay. But another reason why I'm excited

they have JJ McCarthy. This isthe first time in a long time because
I didn't feel this way about ChristianPonder hindsight aside. When they drafted him,
I was like, who is this? I didn't even know who it
was. We all know who JJMcCarthy is. We're excited about it,
but it does feel weird because A, it wasn't our first option. It
wasn't the guy we absolutely wanted,and B what are we missing? Why

didn't Atlanta take him? If theywere set on taking another quarterback there?
Why didn't they take him? Whydidn't the other teams want to jump up?
Obviously they could have traded with theGiants or someone else. So do
we know something others don't? Idon't know, but it's gonna be fun
to watch. Here is our newquarterback on how excited he is to be

in the state of hockey. Hockeywas my first love. No. I
started with I was five and thatwas my first four and I just loved
everything about it, the toughness toit, the you know, work ethic
to it. Everything about hockey issomething that helped elevate my game in football
because that's a quarterback. You're welcome. No, there's very little opportunities to

display to toughness and being around guysthat have gotten their face split open with
one hundred and ten stitches coming infollowing like two days after that, and
then screaming at the coach for takingthem out of the game while they're bleeding

a sprained ankle in a game andyou're just not gonna sit there and be

like, oh, I can't,I can't do this because I've seen people
overcome and want to overcome way worseobstacles. So being able to you know,
draw back to those experiences have beeninvaluable and you know, it's definitely

They got him with the seventeenth overallpick. Did they give up a lot?
Sure? But if he's a stud, who cares? And they still

were asked to give up was toomuch, so they said, let's gamble
and see if we get McCarthy ateleven or ten. But then the story
came out that the Patriots and inthe Vikings had both reached out to the
Chargers about the availability of Justin Herbert, and according to the sources, were
quickly dismissed that the Chargers weren't interested, And then the Vikings were asked about

it, and Quaysy said, quote, I don't know where this stuff comes
from. I wish I could tellyou how much joy we get from seeing
this stuff that gets written. Idon't know what to tell you. I
don't know where this stuff comes from. Sometimes it works out in our favor.
I can't even respond. So hebasically is saying I is made up.
But there's other sources saying the Patriotsand the Vikings asked about Herbert.

Now I wouldn't you though? Yeah, Now, to be fair, the
one of the main reasons you dothat is you just have to do your
due diligence. That maybe the Chargersare going to take McCarthy right because of
Harbaught that that's probably just a youguys taking McCarthy. But you know,
you'd be silly to not attempt forit because we'd heard rumors for a while
that maybe they're interested in moving awayfrom them, which is insane because if

It's a known commodity. Even thesegreat prospects, they don't always work out
most of the time. In fact, they don't work out. So what's

Yeah, it's a great day becausewe have hope and we never have
hope, and for at least oneday, it looks like Quasi absolutely just
crushed it right, not out ofthe park, but like like Crisoa said,

He's basically over too. He's donegreat. However, this on paper looks

fantastic. Now, if six monthsfrom now, JJ McCarthy can't crack the
lineup, or he gets in becauseDarnold can't play and he looks terrible,
I still think Koycy is going tobe make or break with this draft.
Yeah, his drafting of JJ McCarthymight be his fate either way towards greatness
or to be to be done.But that's why you pay the guy.

best drafts the Vikings have ever had. You got your quarterback, you got
a defensive player, and you didn'thave to give up your first round pick
next year. They gave up somepicks all around the fourth, third,
and fifth round this year and nextyear. That doesn't really matter. They
got two very, very good players. I think it's one of the best

drafts they've had in a long time, and nationally a lot of people are
saying it was the best draft lastnight. You know, you could give
an a plus ball's you're not usedto I'll go a plus hawksday love the

excited. If we come out oflast night and not had a quarterback,

got both the best of both worlds. We get a quarterback in the future
and a great defensive player. Twogreat players in one night. What more

made a big splash here in thefirst round. Obviously, what's the game
plan for the rest of the drafthere? Well, today, there's nothing
unless Quasy moves again, right saucethey have no picks today in rounds two

or three, so they could moveback up, but they don't have a
lot of draft capital to do that, so likely they're just out until tomorrow.
