Fox Sports, Let's rockout us go man oh man man,
a man of shivits as your grandpappy used to be here.
Yeah and how well, Hey, we're gonna go old school today.
Because it is a Thursday. Danny g got us inspired.

(01:15):
We're gonna go over the most catchy or annoying old
school jingles.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Start thinking about them. I got a couple. They bring
back those memories.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So in the future, according to Demolition Man, Taco Bell
wins the fast food Wars. We learned that, and we
also learned that they listen to jingles on the radio.
So these are the future hits of America, the jingles
we grew up with you Thursday, could I tell you
it's it's not the same thing. But the second day
in a row we mentioned Demolition Man. Yeah, people must

(01:45):
say that's your favorite movie. It's a great movie.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
I think it's good. I ever saw it.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I demolition You know Jack Black secretly makes a cameo
on that movie. If you watch closely, Well, it's a
good one. I know you're all about the Three Seashells,
but when you know how to use it, when you
think of Demolition Man and they talk about how jingles
of the future. Yeah, because there's a famous scene of
Benjamin Bratt and Sandra Bullock, who are officers in the future,

(02:13):
cops in the future, singing along to the jingles on
the radio. But you and your kid and your girlfriend
and everyone watching twenty second TikTok and Instagram videos and scrolling.
Isn't that sort of the attention span they predicted? Yeah,
I guess it's not jingles you know in the car,
but your bird brain's like scroll scroll, You have a
track in our day, And this is why we want

(02:34):
you to start thinking about it. We sort of knew
the words to those jingles and we like them. Kids
today are like almost allergic to commercials. Don't your kids
have a freak out, freak out macho man style when
commercials come. My kids are little macho man Randy Savage.
When when they're watching i don't know, some dumb YouTube
video of some other kid playing or opening up presence

(02:56):
or whatever the hell.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
They're watching boxing videos, all of a sudden that YouTube
ad comes on.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Dad, Daddaddy, I'm like, we had I'm like, you don't
realize the.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Skill that you're that you freaking out, Oh you don't
understand the skill your dad had? Like what do you mean?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I'm like, when dad was a kid, I would time
that commercial. Go get some gushers and oreos and a
juice box, and I'd slide back into the living room
just in time for the show to come back on.
Oh yeah, I was saying, you're a little younger, but
you remember that skill.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Right the commercial kicked on here, I.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Guess ready after these messages, well, they'll be right right back,
and then you'd go slign across the house in your socks,
grab a little breakfast.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
And then come back.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Oh man, So think about it, your favorite jingles growing up.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
We do that today throwing it back. But there's a
lot of sports and life going on.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
So if you had a seventy six er sort of Wednesday,
a bull sort of Wednesday, not a playoff Jimmy Butler
sort of Wednesday. What we're gonna talk about that in
a second. Something else I want to let you know
coming up, have you ever been c blocked for a job?
A lah Bill Belichick. We're gonna talk some Belichick, We'll
talk some NFL jingles, NBA. You get a little bit

(04:11):
of everything. A lot of fun here with Kavino and Rich.
But I asked Danny g as we sat down before
the show, as he rocks his Boys in the Hood
shirt on a throwback Thursday, I said, Danny what team
loses their pizazz in your opinion more because of injuries
the Pelicans without Zion. If they win the play in

(04:33):
or the Heat without Yemmy Butler, he's the answer. If
they win, what's it? They're both the heart and soul
and face of the team. What are the Pels without Zion?
But then again, what's the playoff magic for the Heat?
Like without Yemmy Butler. I don't want to steal Danny
G's answer, but I will say I completely agree with him.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
What you got doing?

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Well, I'm kind of conditioned to watching Pelicans basketball without Zion.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh, that's true that I'm used to.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
And I will say I thought of a couple of
almost star players on the Pels rather than the Heat.
I think of who on the Heat you killed?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah, we were like Heat Bam.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
The Pelicans do have ingram Nance, Junior McCollum, They got
other guys. But I think it's it's a shame for
the NBA because those are two bottom seed possibilities that
would be really fun if you got an eight seed
with Butler and an eight seed with Zion, But two
eight seeds without them. Doesn't that make the first round

(05:35):
one versus eight's a hell of a lot more boring,
and your Friday night a hell of a lot more
exciting because you got two star players out.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
But I couldn't agree with Danny G. Moore.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Not only do the heat suffer and do Miami fans suffer?
I feel like we suffer as NBA fans playoff? Jimmy Butler,
what are the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Playoff? Jimmy.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
This guy steps it up, turns it up, and I
think that's the bigger impact for sure. If you don't know,
now you know MRI on Thursday, he gets the MRI today,
mcl issues in the right knee, likely to miss a
few weeks. And of course Zion got the left hand
thing well, left hammy injury after two weeks. Say, I
was gonna say length of the diagnosis, yep. What's what's

(06:18):
interesting is I know it was sort of a long shot,
but damn by our pal and your pal update superstar
Monci Bolanos. She came in here yesterday and she goes,
all right, I'm making a video for Fox Sports. What
do you think is in the finals? Sent you that
you know, put your phone in your face and she said,
you know what I think? The Heat could make a run,

(06:40):
and then Jimmy Butler's down I said the same thing. Well,
she said that because I said the Heat, and Rich
made fun of me. He was like, oh if it
was two years ago, and then Moncey backed me up, like, no,
I think they could. Yeah, of course, you know he
gets injured. Yeah, that sort of takes the steam out
of that idea. But I just think it takes the

(07:01):
fun out of it. I love watching Jimmy Butler come
playoff time. I love seeing him step it up. He
had so much fun, so much pizzazz alone. Well, I
don't think is that fun.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Remember two weeks ago on the show, we were looking
at odds rich and we were looking at teams that
were maybe going to be in the seventh or eighth
spot that we thought had had a little shot potential,
and the Heat were one of the teams we brought
up in the East.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I think they both bring that competitive factor equally.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I will as far as.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Fun factor for the casual view are just like, man,
I want to watch for fun without Jimmy Butler's definitely.
Let's just say when the playoffs kick off, if the
Heat do win and the Heat take on the Celtics.
That's an interesting matchup if Butler's healthy because of what
he does in the playoffs without him. The Pelicans with

(07:48):
Zion against Oklahoma City, So that's exciting without turn it
over to the Fox Sports Radio Nation eight seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox. More impactful the Pelicans without
Zion or the Heat without Jimmy Butler. Let me ask
you another question, a major blown. It really sucks. It
really does to not have your two star players for
each team. Let me ask you a follow up. If

(08:12):
you were he's doing nice little sip of your coffee.
That was a loud sibbing. Well rich, the best part
of waking up is Folgers in your cup?

Speaker 2 (08:21):
What happened to Folgers?

Speaker 1 (08:23):
But let me ask you. You got tickets to a game,
put yourself in the scenario of I'm going to a Pelicans.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Game, Oh Zion's not playing.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Now picture yourself going to a Heat game. I'm here
in Miami, Oh Jimmy's not playing.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Way more impacted. But what would make you more mad?
Butler not there with the Heat. It'd be like what
I was.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
It would be like when I was a kid going
to say stadium and I'm looking at the score.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
But I'm like catching but no Gary Carter, Mackie Sasser.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Way more disappointing. Jimmy Butler has a star power flare.
I'm not saying Zion doesn't bring it and he's not
having a great season and he's not impactful.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
It's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying star power his.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Ass Fiir fun Sar, especially around the playoffs, like he's
synonymous now with the playoffs and stepping it up and
bringing his best, bringing his heart and he's sort of
rooting for him to get over that hump.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
So yeah, for me, it's Butler easy.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I agree with Danny g and again your feedback at
Covino and Rich eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Tough break for the heat, but congrats to the seventy
six ers and congrats again to the Bulls who just
won big last night. I think in the world of sports,
that's gotta be if you're talking about what's on the.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Top tier of fan letdowns. In the top tier, number
one answer, let me get Steve Harvey and his fat
mustache what upsets fans.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
The most number one answer on the board could very
well be chick in a key injury before the playoffs. Like,
that's the worst in any sport, any sport. If you're
star wide receiver, your quarterback, your heart break, you're starting pitcher.
I mean, knock on wood, but I don't want it
to happen for him. Just got hit with the whammy.
If you're gonna talk about game shows like Bryce Harper

(10:07):
getting injured before the baseball playoffs, are Garrett Cole going
down before the tribute that too, though, like really going
all out right, just going next level hustle. In fact,
to both guys, you're right, maybe like just that extra
you know, put into high gear and you get a
little tighter. Yeah, it's just going that extra, that extra aggression,
that extra oom.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I'm surprised Zion got her because we learned from Azzi Gian.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Fat, don't pull fat, don't pull fat, don't pull fat,
don't ball. Is that what it Was's quote? Fatn't Well.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Ever since the Lakers beat them for that end season tournament,
the story's been Zion got a personal chef. He started
hitting the weights the gym, so he leaned down and
he got in some good shape. Yeah, well that's a
good point. How do you do it?

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Muscle burns fat, so he clearly got some muscle on there.
That muscle pulled and there you got it. Yeah, you
know what that would be. The Pelicans got to be
super devastated as far as where they stand, not only
Zion being out.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
If you rewound a couple of weeks ago, they were
as high as I like the four or five seed like.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
They were they were in you get called a tight
conference and now you're playing for your life tomorrow night
without your star player. As we said earlier this week,
that's the name of the game. Injuries is a part
of it. You can pick these things and we'll go
to your phone. Calls the question we pose we gave
you our side or my side, it's it's Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Danny agrees Rich.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Who's impact I think I think I'd be more disappointed
as a fan not to see Zion. But if you
ask me who's more impactful coolly disappointingly fans of each team,
we get that, So more impactful Pelicans without Zion, heat
without playoff Jimmy. We'll go to your phones now eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox at Covino and Rich. By

(11:58):
the way, Happy National High five Day, Oh high five dB,
off the top of your head, Dan Bayer, I was
looking at him as the sports expert. He probably hates that.
Stumped the buyer, stumped the stump dB. Do you know
who invented the high five on National High five Day?

Speaker 2 (12:15):
No? I don't. It wasn't Tamas Edison. Just so you
know it was I'll give you a hintstling, No buyer.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
It was a Dodger, but then he was a trader
and he went and worked for the Giants organization.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
There's your hint. I have no idea the answer. I
will tell you in a minute. To tease Steve in Ohio,
what's going on, buddy boy?

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Hey Steve?

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Yeah, I think the biggest h impacts won't be buy on.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
But because the thing that everybody forgets is dunk and
Robinson can shoot man and they don't even play him
right now.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
If he comes in the game tomorrow, he could replace.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Like that, you think, so, I don't know I've replaces
like that, but you're right, good shooter. I will say
though that, uh, it really is a question. We could
pose that is what sucks more?

Speaker 2 (12:58):
You know what, man?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
He makes a good point, though it could be a
great opportunity for Robinson to step up and the impact
is less noticeable. It's like when your star pitcher goes down.
If some dude steps up wins a few games, it
makes that loss so much easier. And it's always possible
that it happens.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I would say, when a starting pitcher goes.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Down, someone of a Garrett cole stature or a you know,
if Garrett calls out for six weeks and the guy
filling in wins three games, Listen if the filling right
in six starts, if the fill in goes three and one,
whether no decision or so, then it didn't lose much,

(13:39):
you know, and you got to think to yourself, is
that possible? So you just need someone to step up
a little bit.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Before I got cornered into playing the high five trivia game,
I thought you were going to ask me who I thought,
Zion or Jimmy Butler. And I think the point that
you have to say playoff Jimmy actually makes it Zion
because there is a different Jimmy Butler, and yeah, playoff
Jimmy is magnificent. There's also times when Jimmy Butler's just
been Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
I think the.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Pelicans need Zion, yeah, because he is who he is
when he is playing.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I know he's still such a young man, but I
think Zion also needs it because you know, as the
years pass that the is he a bust? Is he
working out? You know, I've heard people discuss like he's
still what is he twenty four? He's still so young
that it's crazy to be like, is he done? He
could be an MVP in a couple of years. The
league's changing over we don't know, but I think Zion

(14:34):
needs step one in the play. It's definitely more impactful
for Zion as far as personally. Yeah, Jimmy Butler, we've
seen him step up in these moments, No knock on him.
For Zion to not be playing right now personally more
impactful for sure.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
It is a good thought about zion ceiling being higher
because he's a question mark in the postseason. That's the
first time we ever got to see him in postseason action,
which really doesn't even count for posting. He's say more disappointing, right,
but him dropping that forty like that, was he going
to do that every single playoff game?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
We don't know. That's the punn but even though they
came up short. When you saw him turn it on
in the second half, you're like.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Oh wow, this this is sort of fun. Let's go
to Bill in San Antonio. What's up, buddy, Billy, Billy boy,
what's that.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Man trying to call you?

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yesterday? I wanted to shout out to what you were
talking about, Benigans and all those little establishments.

Speaker 7 (15:24):
Oh yeah, man, you worked there when you and then
I finally got my name on the wall for around
the World.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
I don't know if you remember.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
That, of course, yes, yeah, Antonio.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
It closed just right after that one, and I couldn't
very afford to go to that place.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Benigans used to have this campaign where you try every
beer from around the world, right, so you had to
drink like a hundred beers and then eventually you'd get
your name on the plaque.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
He finally got his name on the plaque. He closed down.
That sucks.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
We talked about that yesterday because Applebee's is the official partner,
official bar and grill of the NFL now and we
had this theory that mid level restaurants are coming back.
We posted a clip about it if you want to
see it at Covino and Rich and of course it's
on the podcast to search.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Cavino and Rich. Thanks.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
We'll do one more quickie here from Wes and cheek
Goll What up, che Wes and Chico.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Hey, I was going, guys, heybody, So I was thinking
about what you're talking about, going to a game and
expecting to see somebody. When I was a kid, I'd
never been to a pro football game, huge Niners fan.
Parents finally looked it up. We're going to go to
the game. We got great seats, kind of near the tunnel.
Montana comes out and he's in street clothes, devastated, and

(16:36):
at the time, I'm a little kid, I'm like, who's
Steve Young. Luckily he turned out to be Steve Young.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yeah, kind of cool if you don't want to see
Joe Montana and his wranglers. I was gonna say, Alicia
got Young, I thought you were gonna say, And then
came out Elvis Gerbak, Right, Yeah, Young, that's that's that's
pretty cool that you got to see him though. Yeah,
you got flash forward. You guys saw the beginning of
Rock Purty in the same exact Yeah, that's something that Danny,

(17:02):
as a ninercent you would think I would think more
about And until you said that, I never realized how
special that sort of is.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
And in the corniest.

Speaker 8 (17:09):
Way to nobody, wasn't that in like Mexico City that
I did?

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yo? We were there.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I was sam when Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt and they
put Purty in, and I remember everyone's like, when you're
at the game, you don't hear the broadcaster, so you're like,
is Jimmy g done? Is he hurt?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (17:25):
We didn't realize that I'd be there for the first
official game of the guy who I'm wearing on my
shirt today, Brock Purdy.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Look at that.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
I was at the game where Don Mkowski went down
with an ankle injury and was replaced by one Brett
Farr for the Green Bay Packers against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Now had a little more hype than Perdy did because
of the trade. He was a second round pick by Atlanta.
But still talk about the start of you know the run.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
It was that game legendary. I got you all beat though.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
I was at Todd Morina, Todd Moreno his first game
at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
No way.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Yeah, this fan held up that said Todd, you are
the future, dude.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Weren't you also there when your brothers started that legendary
Reggie chant That's right, that was this other guy up.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
In the fres Ken I think his uncle Rip.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
I saw some wild thingide Instagram. Hold on a second,
have you guys ever you know you've scrolled through doing
the bull scroll or the Endless Late Night, can't fall
asleep scroll on TikTok or Instagram?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
You mean every day?

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I mean your life essentially, mean every minute of my
day after this show, I remember because it was the
late great Vince Scully making the call. The timing doesn't
make sense for it to be Kershaw Randy Johnson, but
they were supposed. There were two scratches in the starting
position for pictures and like making the spots start today

(18:47):
Randy Johnson and Clayton Kershaw two like it was one.
It was like a Hall of fame. I know it's
I know what you're I know what you're trying to say,
So Kershawn, not Greg Maddox. That would be too old.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
There was too not for a lander.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I gotta find it. But it was one of those
where nobody's ended up being legend There was two, nobody's
making spot starts because someone was in and it was
like it could have been an All All Star game,
kershaw Land or something maybe kersher Yeah, if someone knows
filling my dumb blank at Rich Davis. But you know what,

(19:27):
but that's cool. I think it's always fun to be
there for those moments. Now coming up, we are going
to talk some old school jingles and a throwback Thursday,
a little more NBA. And I gotta ask in your career,
do you feel like you've ever been blocked the old
sea blocking with you? Yeah, almost every day on the

(19:48):
years and years that end, especially when we were single. Guys,
I'm not talking about guy. Let's you get a word in.
You're talking to a beautiful woman. Guess who steps up
and ruins the whole thing, Dann Bayer. Do you know
that's the Roberts Davis. You know that's the only time
Cavino and I almost like fought. Wow we were at
a bar and not the name drop, but I remember
what it was.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Do you remember what? Wait, we've argued, but like fought.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Okay, do you remember when Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook
made a movie together? It was like some garbage, like
rated our comedy. But we were at this party for
this movie and Covino's talking to some beautiful girl and
I walk up to him, like, hey, what's going on man?

Speaker 2 (20:24):
And I start talking the girl. Covino, no joke, grabs
me with my shirt with a fist. It's like, get
the f out of everybody. I was like, whoa, that's
I was making my movie. This guy's like, hey, what's
going on? I get it. I'm I beat it.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
And by the way, that movie was Employee of the
Month in two thousand and six.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
That's how long I've known you. Damn ye hate you.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Before that even All right, well, hey we got more

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Boom, Trust Your Eyes, Cavino and Rich No on Fox
Sports Radio, Happy National High five Day. I got that
answer for you because pee brain Davis over here forgot
to give it to you already.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
I'm sure Hi five, Hi five? Hie Why?

Speaker 1 (22:48):
And in twenty minutes old school and fifty hits top
jingles of all time we throw it back. It can
be sports related. I still remember the Baseball Bunch jingle.
That's the theme song. That's different. Well, oh, I still
remember twin notes that jingle. That's a jingle note. I
guess it's more stretching a little bit. I'm stretching, but
you know, commercial jingles. We're gonna discuss that. But your

(23:11):
feedback phone calls all appreciated here on the Cavino and
Rich Show, eight seventy seven ninety nine one Fox Live
from the tyraq dot Com studio. So two pieces of
business I got. We got to give you two answers.
Answer number one, who invented the high five? Because today
is National High five Day? I'll let you do the honors.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Cavino.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
The year was nineteen seventy seven, which in itself is
amazing to think what the high five didn't exist before
nineteen seventy seven. The answer is, I don't think so,
not really, but it was popularized in this moment because
Dusty Baker for your Dodgers, Danny Gep, Dan Byer.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
You hear this.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Dusty Baker hits a bomb, hits a home run, and
as he crosses home plate, he gives a high five
to Glenn Burr. So Glen Burke. Dusty Baker invented the
high five. Glen Burke also became the first openly well
after he retired gay baseball player.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
So props because.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
They invented something that became a thing in seventy seven
and we've been doing it ever since. That's why they say,
when one of your friends comes out, you high five. Yeah,
I just made that up. Yeah, that's Dusty Baker said.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
He was approaching the dut or the plate or the
duck or whatever, and he had who is it again?

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Glenn Burke had his hands up and he's like what
do I do? So he just he's like, all right,
so I'll just hit his hand. And then the Dodgers
ran with it.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
And it became a thing and just shook hands as
they rounded the bases.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
You know what would be funny.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Imagine if Dusty Baker decided to tickle his hands a
little but imagine also said he wanted to tickle his hand,
and now we'd be doing instead of high five's hand tickles. Yeah,
I mean so a cool story though, And today's national
high who invented the stick shift? You know where one
person goes to high five, one person goes to five.
I've done that so many times, so I'll take credit
for it. Another fun fact? You know who invented my bad?

(25:00):
Do we do we break out all the fun facts? Yeah,
we know this one minute Ball because of his bad English.
He had bad English, so when he would make a mistake,
he'd say my bad, my bad, and it became NBA slang,
and then it became every day slang for other people.
So Minwball, Dusty Baker, Hey, Rich, I got.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
One for you. Who invented no no cookie monster? You know.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I'm not saying I'm not saying what the acron to means.
So I think I could say it on Fox Sports,
But what uh could we know? And I've argued this,
let me know what you think. Before before the movie
American Pie, do you remember anyone ever using the phrase milf?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Stop with that?

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Did There's a difference between popularizing something and I think
milf existed before American Pie because my friends would say I.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Invented that and Rich Hopefully we weren't saying that as kids.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah, that would be weird. Well then clearly you never saw.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Rich's mom, so jesus, hey, I don know, but things
get popularized, but they do give credit to Dusty Baker
and Glenn Burke for being the first to do it.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
People are like, what the hell was that?

Speaker 1 (26:15):
So on National High five Day, I give you a
Dusty Baker to Glenn Burke or in our favorite game
tech Mobile growing up, a little Marcus Allen Danny g
high five, I would Sam doesn't buy it. He's like, no, no,
Mayobe will be high five and regeneration it seems hard
to believe. There's a few of those where it's hard
to believe.

Speaker 8 (26:31):
It goes well, okay, I buy that, but it does
go back in the animal kingdom. There's like certain chimpanzees
that actually like class pans is like a showing of
commit community or are mating it Like it kind of
goes back to like the need for a human or
animal connection, right.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
You know, there's another one of those, like I can't
believe it. I watched a documentary about the food that
made America? Could you not watch the same one? I
didn't realize that pizza like deliver it to your delivered
to your house. But also just like Pete so Aria's
we're around until the fifties.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Like you're like what for what? Yeah, you weren't.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
There was like oh, hello, didn and become a greeting
until the phone was invented.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
People were like, oh I serious, but they wanted Edison.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
No what did what did Edison want? He wanted people
to pick up the phone and go home.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
No, that's what mister Burns Simpsons. Yeah, so there's a
lot of those.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
You're like, no where, and the high five wasn't a thing,
so today we celebrate stuff.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
It's like how nobody went out to a chain restaurant
for Italian until Olive Garden that's born.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
I'm convinced also that as a kid on the East Coast,
I never had guacamole, and like fast food, I think
got places like Chipotle and Baja Fresh introduced it to
the masses. Because you grew up in a place that
didn't have a big Mexican culture, you didn't have guacamole
as a kid. There's true to that they probably weren't
doing it. I don't remember it, you know, I remember it.
I don't remember it in rest, but I remember it

(28:00):
in my family.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Cities that still don't have good Mexican You.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Know, when I tell I tell my daughter these things
all the time, I'm like, when I was little, there
was no spinach, artichoke dip. Right, Yeah, there was no song,
vinegar potato chips that I remember, like they just sort
of emerged within your lifetime, much like the High five
on this day. Well, let me give you one more
piece of business, then we'll go to Dan Buyer's update.
I said, there's a clip on social media that fascinated me.

(28:26):
It was two legendary pictures that got scratched, replaced by
two unknown pictures who will also be Hall of famers.
And I gotta I gotta give credit where credits due.
I looked on my feedback. My goodness, you guys are
quick to the punch. Shout out to Josh Kaiser, Joey Cemente,
Travis Hint, Boycott in Confidence, Lloyd Christmas, John Mass, all

(28:48):
these people hit all these people hit me up at once,
and take a listen to the clip from the Late
Great Vin Scully, we.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
Were gonna have two veterans forty you all, Y Johnson
heavy forty five next week with all of his victories,
forty two year old Greg Maddix with three hundred and
fifty four victories. But under the headline and heading of
the best laid plans of mice and men, we have
a twenty four year old shirt Sha with no wins
and a twenty year old Kershaw with three.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Wait a second, wasn't Schureser with the Tigers? So Tigers Dodgers? Well,
how's that possible? What was the team's now diamondbackson?

Speaker 2 (29:31):
That's why? Okay, all right, but wow, that's so cool?

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Is that crazy to think they scratched Greg Maddox and
Randy Johnson to be replaced by two unknown great two
unknowns being Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer, which is awesome.
Four Hall of famers to scratch two unknown They at
that moment cool to think that Kershaw and Schurzer combined
only had three wins in the BIGS.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
That's a really cool claim. And it's even cooler that
Vin sculling I was gonna say that makes me miss
thanks so much fun One on Thursday, surs love it. Well,
let's go to our pal and yours, Dan Bayer.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
What I do have to say that there was quite
the interesting exchange because Rich you got in Covino's case
for having his opinion about American Pie and millf and
Cavino you did not agree with Rich. But then Rich
popularized this Kershaw Brandy Johnson thing, right when all these
other people knew about it. So it's like this, what

(30:24):
Cavino was actually saying is everybody knew about it, but
American Pie brought it to the mainstream, where you, you know,
brought this to the mainstream when all the people that
were replying to you already knew about it.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Let me tell you, Dan Bayer, look at the para.
We've known you for We've known you for a year.
So now have you just discovered that I am Dicky Columbus.
I discover it and then all of a sudden it's no, Yeah,
Rich is the king, the king of discovering things that
people have been talking about for years. Once I figured
out Dan, then it makes sense doesn't exist until Rich

(30:57):
finds it.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
I'm biased. I am a Cavino guy.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
So maybe that's why you know the whole deal. But
I'm not a Jimmy Butler guy. Nothing against Jimmy. Just
took down my bucks on too many occasions. The Heat
forward ruled out of their game Friday. This is unfortunate
because of his knee injury, so he won't play against
the Bulls tomorrow. Heat made it official today because of
that mcl injury. Terry Rose here also not going to
play for Miami. The Bulls actually getting some good news.

(31:22):
ESPN says that Alex Caruso is responding to treatment for
his ankle injury and the team does have some optimism
that he could play tomorrow against Miami. More news from
the NBA, but we're talking NBA draft. Kentucky's Reed Sheppard
will enter the twenty twenty four NBA Draft forgoing his
college eligibility. Will former Wisconsin forward aj Stores transferring to

(31:45):
Kansas in the women's game. Former LSU guard Haley van
Lyft she'll transfer to TCU. Raven's wide receivers Z Flowers
won't face any penalties from the NFL after they found
insufficient evidence that he violated the league's personal conduct policy
following allegations made against him in January. Commander's Jim Adam
Peters told reporters the team is comfortable sitting at number

(32:05):
two in next week's NFL draft, adding you didn't see
a bunch of scenarios where the team would trade down
from that spot. Raised out the Angels today two to one,
Rangers outscored the Tigers nine to seven, and the Guardians
were five to four winners against the Red Sox.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Guys. Back to you, thanks Dan byer.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Coavi non Rich films by the High Five though, and
by the way, since National High Five Day, I'm pretty
sure it's at thirty for thirty.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
ESPN definitely aired.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
A documentary on it, though, if you want to watch
it later on, because I believe it took him to
the playoffs and everything else and it became a movement,
and we still do the High five to this day.
I think I said something to you once and you disagreed.
I don't know if we ever looked it up or
just thought about it. I said that the eighty six
Mets invented the curtain.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Call Low five. I think there's truth to that.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Actually, Okay, So yeah, okay, I was I thought you'd
be like get Eddy. Well again, there's a difference between
inventing and popularized the Mets. Definitely popularized because everyone hated
the doing it, Gary Carter, Everyone hated the Mets for
doing the whole step on the front, you know, the
top step of Yeah, did you remember that as kids?

Speaker 7 (33:12):
Like?

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Everyone hated the Mets because they were arrogance. Who invented
the bat flip? Joey Battista? Joe Battista, He.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
Definitely I know Bayer was there at the game. You guys,
remember who invented the lambeau leap? Think about it?

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Some good sterling Sharp wasn't like, I don't know, to
being Lannie Poppo one of the lords that were leaping
Leroy Butler, Man, that is that a fact?

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah? Wow?

Speaker 5 (33:45):
Colateral from Reggie White on a strip sack and then
ran into the end zone for a defensive score.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
That's really cool, man, That's that's like something that you
can never take away from someone. Imagine that like his legacy.
No matter what, we'll always be like And guess what
fun fact invented a lambeau leap? Dude, I heard a
story personally that I didn't know recently. You know, the
Yankees famous for the role call I need a backup
on this because I really wasn't paying attention, but you

(34:11):
I think the story was and I feel like the
Yankees were doing that forever, where the bleacher creatures start
calling out the players and the player turns around acknowledges them.
I think it was like Tino Martinez his debut and
they're like Tino, you know, Tino Martinez or something, and
he doesn't know what to do, so he turned around
and waved or something, and then it became a thing.
So it's like a recent thing. My new favorite trend

(34:33):
is people in the outfield stands. I saw that's that
a Dodgers game the other day, Daddy. They they screamed
to an outfielder. I think they did this with Tatis Junior.
They're like left hand for but right hand for you know, boobies,
and and the outfielder're like, let you know what he
likes more on No way, really, that's so funny. All right,

(34:57):
Well we still got right by the way cove. You know,
I looked it up nineteen nine tinety six. Tino Martinez
played a role in They Don't you feel like the
Yankees have been doing that for so long, dude, So yeah,
he didn't know what to do. So he turned around
and he waved to the bleacher creatures. Yeah, then you're
like because he was uncomfortable. He was uncomfortable with it
because they kept cheering his name. So then they started
doing that with every position. It became a thing until

(35:18):
this day. If you at a Yankee stadium, they shout
out every player, I believe, except for the pitcher and
catcher to not distract him. And they doing it until
they get acknowledged. You let me let me give you
one more fun factor. We'll move on, because it was
the anniversary of it yesterday when the Yankees were the
first team to put numbers on the back of their jersey.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Did you know that?

Speaker 1 (35:38):
And is this a fun fact Thursday? I mean, it
seems like right, but when you wonder why did they
do that? You know, Danny, it was the batting lineup
for the Yankees. Can you believe that? One, two, three, four, five, six,
Sevenday nine, which is why all the Yankee legends have
one digit low numbers. It was where they were in
the batting Baby Ba bat third, Luke Garrick four like,
so it's based on where they batted in the lineup.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Actually, learn something on our sle learn something.

there was a viral like YouTube video of the top
ten of.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
All the Folgiers. One really got me thinking about this.
The best part of wake.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Is that that might be That's why I don't like
these lists, because I don't ever agree with them, but
I'd be the best one. But the crazy part is,
I mean, maybe maybe it's still out there for people
on a budget.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
But do you know anyone that drinks Folgers coffee? Yeah,
don't tell anybody about my wife drinks.

Speaker 9 (38:25):
It for real.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah, like when I go to the supermarket, you know
they have the biggest Starbucks.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
He's not the best part. Away Us is a classic.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Yeah, but Folgers comes to a jug and it's like
three Bucks and men drink folds and you go to
the mechanic shop and that's always like the coffee in
that the stale coffee is full of some of the
partial to chuck full of nuts and then the yellow
so Brenda drinks folders and you drink Sanka.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Is that how your morning works? Thanks Manes Scalco. Exactly.

Speaker 8 (38:54):
I have a Sanka spoon I still use just for
my normal wow learning stuff.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
But iowa sam So based on his go back Thursday,
thank agoud Old School.

Speaker 1 (39:02):

of all time?

Speaker 2 (39:07):

I don't want to give away any answers, all right,

you put up there is your favorite jingle of all time?

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Because that's the.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Era we grew up in, when we'd be watching cartoons
and we'd be singing along a lot of a lot
of the jingles we.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Grew up with.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Were memorable to the point we knew the words. I'm
not gonna lie you and I might have the same favorites.
I don't want to I don't want to steal your answer,
but it really fires me up.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Let's hear it.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Let's just say, if I want to get fired up,
I grabbed me some juicy fruit.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Juicy fruit. The taste is gonna move you. Juicy fruit,
this says Rock and his rich guy. Get my ski
shine con, get your ski shined up, Grab a stick
and juicy fruit. Taste this move take a snill? Whoa
what has got to move your window? What it's gone on?

(40:21):
Gum right? Tried to juicy fruit. The taste, the taste
and tastes you know what? Though.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
You know Cum was slaying it back then, because not
only does that song rock, but they also had the

the whole time is a little longer, and then double yeah,
that big red fresh chancer to your fresh pan goes.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
