Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's always something about the younger generation that the older
generation doesn't like.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
What what did? What did?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Seventy somethings that are sending something's now complain about.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Us about, uh that we were probably lazy, watch too
much TV and played video games. Well, but the difference
is is that those people you're talking about, they didn't
have TV, they didn't have video games, right, and they
didn't have telephones or the internet or whatever. So they
had to work their ass off and they didn't you know,
they weren't able to get what they needed from a
convenience store, so they had to grow everything they ate,

(00:33):
and they had to make their own es and sew
their own sweaters. I had stuff and walk backwards naked
in the snow both ways up in all to work.
I have used the line before my kids.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
You know, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I wasn't on my phone all day When I was
your age, you didn't have a phone exactly. That's why.
You know.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Sometimes sometimes they're they're sharp enough to come back with
me at that.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
And other times they just kind of take it as
the criticism that it is. Absolutely well, I guess where
where does it end? Like what's next? In already like,
what are your kids going to be complaining about with
the you know five and six year olds that are
out there right their AI droids will be going to
school for them. You know, you haven't wiped your own
ass and dates?

Speaker 4 (01:11):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Okay, you know that neck keep having the robot do
it for it.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
See, my kids kids will be able to like stay
at home and send their AI robot to school to
learn everything and then bring it back to them.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
There's already a movie out there, it's called Surrogates. You
ever see it?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I haven't. With Bruce Willis Andrews, you're a big movie guy,
I have not seen that movie. But you know what,
I'm sick and tired of you not seeing the movies
that I reference on that just me this radio show.
You and Jackson, you two idiots. Don't you do that
movie thing together? That podcast or what?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Actually?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Watch them all in every movie I bring up? Okay,
listen to this four nine, four or five one. We
just referenced Ferris Bueller's Day Off off the ear. Anders
said he hasn't seen it. That's amazing. Is that appalling
that he hasn't seen it? I mean, one should Anders
have seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He's twenty eight years old.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
How many movies did we watch that came out in
the sixties, because that's essentially the same as Ferris Bueles down.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I haven't seen a ton of movies that came out
in the sixties. What is the what is the nineteen
sixties version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Casa Blanca? I
have no idea. I mean I get it. I just think, Uh,
there's a movie already out there. It's called Surrogates, but
Bruce willis where they just stay home and they plug
into a machine and they have these these androids that

(02:25):
live their lives for them. So like you, you would
you would come out here on Main Street and Belvy
and you'd see a bunch of androids walking around. But
they're very lifelike. They like they look like you at
your best, before you got gray hair. They looked like
me at my best, before I got so fat. They
look like Andrews at his best, before whatever happened to
him happened to him. Yeah, okay, before Jackson got so

(02:46):
hairy and chubby, all those things. Like you would you
you would have a android of you walking around living
your life. Going to work. If you get into a
car accident, it's no problem. It's not you, it's your
android that did it. And it's called Surgus and it
came out like twenty years ago. Honestly, I remember the name.
They were way ahead of that idea in that movie.

(03:08):
And the thing is is you stay home and because
you're not doing anything, you're just plugged into a machine
all day. What happens to you? You get fat? Right,
you get fat, and you can have didn't happen in
Wally as well, andres I think the same. Yes, that's
what I was gonna bring up to. It's like, go
watch the movie Surrogates with Bruce Willis and you'll get
a glimpse of the future. So anyway, it's not like

(03:28):
there's a big football game happening on Sunday. Let's just
goof around for the first nine minutes of the radio
show Huskies in Purdue on Saturday. No, I'm talking about
the Lions and Eagles on Sunday. That's a big one. Big,
that's a big one. The game tonight Jackson Patriots. Look,
I mean, we got Taylor coming up today to make

(03:48):
her pick. Later on we'll see if she chose poorly
or chose wisely last week. But you you gave me
a stat off the ear that the Jets in the
twelve and a half might be the plate.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Well, I like the just twelve and a half, but
money line goes the way money line goes. The Thursday
night double digit underdog like the Jets are has never
won in the history of Thursday night football. There has
never been a double digit underdog to win straight up.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
But I do like the Jets and the points. Yeah,
well it's a lot of points, man, And you would
think at some point the Jets are gonna wake up
and at some point the Patriots are gonna take a
little bit of a step back. So we'll see. But
Hawks Rams on Sunday is probably, I don't know, man,
maybe the biggest regular season game these guys have played
in November. And I don't know, God, how many years, man,
I mean, they haven't been seven to two and six years,

(04:36):
going back to twenty nineteen with Pete, so it's been
a while. And we were talking about this yesterday on
the radio show that you look at all the PFF
ratings from this game, it's the number one versus number
two offense in the NFL number two versus number six defense,
with the Hawks being number six. This is just by
their grading system, by the way, not overall numbers, yardage whatever,

(04:57):
number one pass offense versus number two pass offense, number two,
run dy versus number five run dy, number four coverage
versus number nine coverage. I mean, it's crazy. This matchup
on Sunday is just gigantic, And it's gigantic from a
talent perspective, it's gigantic from a coaching perspective. It's gigantic

(05:18):
what it could mean for the division. You know, we
had a little ticket at the Emerald Queen before the
year began and the Hawks to win the West at
like plus five eighty or whatever it was. And what's
that now? You said two hundred Hawks win this game
on Sunday. I'd love to see what it is on
Monday morning.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Well, the division percentage in a win versus a loss
for the Seahawks in a win fifty five percent and
a loss seventeen percent.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Wow, so fifty five to seventeen they win. I'd have
to go back in what are the odds now to
win the West? You know what they are now? Before
the game on Sunday, So it's fifty five if they
win wine seventy.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Okay, I mean that's a huge I mean that's a
pretty gap right there, win or loss, even though I
think they're gonna lose. But I also think they're gonna
beat the Rams the next time. I mean, should Let's
let's be honest.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
You're like, you know, you're just like your man where
you go? Should anybody expect dark Cloud.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Talking about I'm the least dark cloud person on this
entire show.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Fine, okay, but I will thinking that. But I'm also
a realist.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I'm also a realist, and I don't think any Rams
fan or any Seahawks fans should expect that their team
is gonna win both games in this rivalry.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Let's do this. We'll table that conversation for later. Mike
Conger will be here at four o'clock. He's not so
negative like Dick as Anders, by the way. They'll be
here at four low fun with Audio. Rick new Heisel
is gonna join next courtesy at taco time. As we
continue from the five twenty bar and grillm BELLV. You
don't forget the American League MVP and National League MVP,
but we don't really care about that one. We know
who's gonna win that. That'll be announced in the four

(06:53):
pm hour. We're gonna have before you live when it happens.
Right here on ninety three three KJRFM.

Speaker 5 (07:06):

(07:27):
now with Rick new Heisl, Here's Softy and Dick.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
All right, big thanks to our friends at Taco Time,
as we have planned our flag today at the five
twenty Bar and Grill here in Bellevue, Brazens Randy, Joseph, Cody, Joey,
the entire crew here Taylor. We love him and we
love being out here. We also love winning. We also

(07:51):
love making bets and having them come through. And that's
what our friend Rick new Heisel is doing right now.
Four and one in his last five picks on the air,
I'm sorry. Five and one in his last six selections
on the air, including Notre Dame slamming and I mean
slamming Navy last Saturday to get back in the wind

(08:11):
column after a loss with wake Forest and Florida's Day, You,
my friend young man, are on what we like to
call a run. Congratulations.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Hey, I met wake Forest.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
I missed it by a week. They waited the next
week to.

Speaker 7 (08:25):
Knock off the big Virginia team. I missed it by
a week. But I'm happy to help anybody in need.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, well you're helping us man. We appreciate that. But
you're back over five hundred and six and five. We'll
get your pick of the week coming up here in
about twelve minutes. But let's just go back to Madison. Man,
what in the heck happened at Wisconsin? Huskies go out
there and they lose thirteen to ten to a not
very good Badger football team. Explain that one.

Speaker 7 (08:52):
Well, unfortunately, it was an uncharacteristic off night for the offense.
I'm looking at the statistic here, and while the numbers
aren't far off from what I think, there were too
many drives that ended in three and out. You know
four drives in college football now, with the new clock
rules where they are letting the clock run and you

(09:15):
go out of bounds and the clock starts again. They're
trying to get everything down to that NFL window of
three hours. You don't get that many drives and when
you have four drives and listen, Luke Pickles a defensive guy,
He's going to have a good defense every time out.
And that's the case this year. They just don't have
an offense. And that was the case again this last Saturday.

(09:35):
They owe just barely over two hundred yards of offense.
You can't go three and out four times because you're
wasting opportunities to distance yourself from them. And the longer
you teep up keep a home team in the game,
the more that crowd gets excited and the more they
become involved.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
And that's exactly what happens.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Rick.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
The Dodge are up ten to three at halftime, and
I tweeted only half in just really, can we just
put our knee on every possession in the second half
and punt and win ten to three? Because that's how
bad the Wisconsin offense was. Their leading passer was their punter,
and you gave them a touchdown by fumbling the ball
in your own seven on a pass play. So as

(10:13):
a coach in the second half, when you've seen a
first half play like that for the Wisconsin offense, do
you maybe go into more conservative mode and say, listen,
we're just going to play to win this game ten
to three or ten to six.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
You have to be able to adapt to those kind
of situations and find ways to get one more points
than the opponent. That's exactly right. And as I look at.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
The second half, you know, you.

Speaker 7 (10:38):
Go out the first drive, there's a fumble, the second
drives the three and out, you went minus seventeen yards,
then you miss a field goal, then you punt again,
and then you're out on downs. I mean, that can't
That's a formula for disaster. And unfortunately that's what took place.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Well, and now there's you know, a question about kind
of maybe a little motivation, right, and we're talking to
a master motivator here, Dick and Rick Newall, a Northwest
champions two thousand and two, pulled that out of a
mass when the Huskies were four and five and they
found a way to win three games in a row.
So I don't know, I mean, do you need to
motivate these guys as much as you did back in
the day, because I mean, you got NIOL money on

(11:17):
the line for next season. For these guys now, Rick.

Speaker 7 (11:21):
And l e L money on the line, and there's
still that coveted idea of ten wins. Ten wins is
a is a magic number in the world of college football.
Ten wins season is still worth its weight in gold,
and it's one thing that everybody kind of you know,
remembers with a badge of pride. So the fact that

(11:44):
you're six and three, you got Purdue, You've got who's
next week before Ucla Ucla, and then you've got Oregon.
You win those three games and go nine to three
and go to a great bowl game, You're gonna be
real good about yourself.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Should we just assume that because they're back at home,
that this is a blowout against Purdue, and that demand
will be Demond and all these guys will be themselves
because that's how they always are against mediocre to bad
teams at Husky Stadium.

Speaker 7 (12:14):
See the problem with that is we assume that they
were going to go beat Wisconsin. We have to get
a great effort. We have to get back to being
the team that we've seen be really consistent over the
course of the season, in particular Demond and if demand's
the leader that I think he is that I saw
in that practice field, he'll get everybody's attention to get

(12:36):
that accomplished.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Well, this is a Purdue football team that's lost sixteen
consecutive Big Ten games going back to the last game
of the twenty twenty three season. Ryan Walters was their
head coach a year ago, and now they got Barry
Odam who was with Walters at Missouri a few years back.
But honestly, what you know of this Purdue team, is
there anything that should concern anybody?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Honestly, Well, they're going to play hard very Odam.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
See one of those hard charging guys.

Speaker 7 (13:01):
But if you're looking for some measure of motivation, the
Huskies on that defensive side are playing for Ryan Walters,
and this is a chance to show Purdue that they
let go a really good coach and let's go play
our tails off for Coach Walters. That would be a
great evening for him to remind those folks that made

(13:22):
that decision that he still has a lot in the tank.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
You mentioned the UCLA game next week, it could be
the last time the Huskies face the Bruins at the
Rose Bowl. What do you think of the judge yesterday
denying requests for the restraining order that would prevent UCLA
from moving to Sofi Stadium?

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Seems like it opens up the door for the Bruins.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
Yeah, you know that that leaf was probably ill advised.
It's pretty favorable to the Rose Bowl, but I think
Dan Guerrero thought there was no better place to play
now that they're so far. Truthfully, if UCLA wants to
make a move and come a football school and one
that wants to play for big prizes, you got to
find a way to get a stadium right there in

(14:05):
campus or at least in Westwood, uh and get people
involved in the thing and make it feel like a
home field advantage. And I don't know that there's anybody
in the administration that really wants to push that kind
of energy towards that stuff. So Sofi is a little closer,
but it's still a band aid. UCLA needs to figure

(14:27):
out another way if they really want to become a
player in the football side of things.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Well, Rick dew Heisel's with us courtesy at Taco Time.
Get his Taco Time Pick of the Week coming up
in a minute. I saw where Rick George the Colorado
ad is gonna step down. And I remember that great
scene couple of years ago when they beat TCU and
the opener and him and Dion were hugging it out.
Remember that after the game, everybody's happy. And I don't know,
I mean, with Rick George stepping down and Dion's health

(14:53):
problems he's having, you think Deon Sanders is long for Colorado.

Speaker 7 (14:58):
I'm gonna say what I've s that all along. I
think you're going to see him on game day with
coach Saban.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Yeah, I think that's coming now.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
I haven't talked to him.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I have no.

Speaker 7 (15:08):
Indication that that's the case. But this job is hard
and he doesn't want to lead campus to go recruit
and that's just a I mean, he knew his son,
and he knew Travis Hunter. That was a great place
to start. But those guys don't grow on trees. You've
got to find guys, and if you're just doing it
by the phone, good luck with that. And I just

(15:30):
think he's going to look at himself and with his help,
say do I really have the energy to go out
and start chasing and the answers probably know, which is
why he's going to take a probably lucrative offer.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
To go hang out with those guys. On the ESPN desk.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Rick, I saw Colin Coward making a comment today on
a statement you made about Notre Dame this week, basically,
you know, kind of saying their brand is helping them
in the CFP rankings.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Maybe you know, explain why you think that is.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
Well.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
I think they need to build a statue for Jack Swarp,
who was one of the four guys that built the
college football playoff to.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
The twelve team deal that it is now.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
He and Greg Sankee and Bob Bowlsby and a guy
the named Craig Thompson who is the commissioner.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Of the Mountain West.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
Those are the four architects of it. And the deal
was that you'd get to twelve teams. Notre Dame wouldn't
be able to get one of the buys because they
wouldn't win a conference championship. And now that's no longer
a rule after one year, so now they can get
a bye. They certainly have. They can draw up whatever
schedule they want. They have four games that really looked

(16:35):
like they were going to be tough, and they're gonna
if they go two and two of them, they're going
to get in and it's ten and two. Notre Dame
because they're, you know, like the Rolling Stones. I guess
it's good for college football, but it's the easiest path
out there. And for that, Swarbrook deserves a statue. Maybe
not touchdown Jesus, maybe not that level, but something close.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Rick Neuheisel is with us, what are the odds of
Johnny money Line Materier tripping up Calin de borr and
Alabama and Tuscaloosa Saturday.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
You know, I like their chances defensively because they're a
pass rush unit and Alabama really can't run the ball.
They just haven't even with jam Miller being back, they
haven't started to run the ball. They're down in the
SEC stats on that side of it. So if you
can harass Ty Simpson and make him a little bit erradic,

(17:31):
you've got a great chance in this game. The question
is can Matier throw the ball.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
Down the field?

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Against Tennessee he averaged less than six yards in attempt
and to me, that's the number that's got to change.
I think he was like one hundred and fifty yards.
If he gets two fifty and that number goes to
eight or nine, they're gonna be tough because he is
running the ball. He had eighty yards against.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Tennessee, Texas and Georgia at Georgia. Who do you like
and is this an elimination game for Texas or do
you think a three lost Texas.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Team could still make the champion or the College football playoffs.

Speaker 7 (18:04):
I do think a three loss Texas team could make
the championship, but only I think if they win this one.
I think the game against A and M at the end,
if it were, you know, an overtime thriller or something
like that, they could still get there by virtue of
having this win and.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Catapulting a little higher.

Speaker 7 (18:23):
I like their chances in this game because this is
not your normal Kirby Smart team. This team's more of
a I guess, really just a fast team. On defense,
they don't have a pass rush. They're last in the
SEC in facts, last middle of the pack in pass defense,
and Arch is thrown for seven hundred yards.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
In the last two weeks.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
So I just think that Texas has a chance. Starts
kind of got Arch on track and the receivers are
now understanding.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
What where to be when to be there.

Speaker 6 (18:55):
I like Texas in this game.

Speaker 7 (18:57):
It feels like when Start took Texas to Alabama a
few years ago.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah. Yeah, well, Rick, before you get your pick. The
Jetfish rumors just continue to fly. He had to address
him again on Monday. I don't know if you heard
that or heard the clip, and he came out and
just said, Look, people don't know what the hell they're
talking about. All these lists I'm on for coaching jobs
across the country. You know my family doesn't want to
be here. Well, it's because my kids are in high

(19:23):
school and Tucson has got nothing to do with them.
Not liking Seattle. Blah blah blah. I don't know if
people really are buying it. To be honest with you,
I'm not even sure if I'm buying it entirely. But
I mean, why you just call it for us, right,
I mean, you give us a talk of time, pick
of the week every week. Anyway, just call it is
Jetfish the coach of the Hussies next year. Is he
coaching somewhere else?

Speaker 7 (19:44):
I'm saying he's the coach of the Huskies next year. Yeah, yeah,
I'm saying that you don't have anything to worry about.
I think he's telling you the truth that his daughter
wanted to finish school with some glassmates there in Tucson.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
So they're letting them do that.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
The only thing that could happen that would maybe change
his mind.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
If I'm thinking.

Speaker 7 (20:04):
Back to the great words of Bear Bryant, Mama called,
you know that's Ford is where he went to school.
But I don't see that happening. I actually think Lane
Kiffin's going to take that job. And so I'm going
to say Jed is in Seattle, and I think Jed's
happy in Seattle. I mean, I was with him this summer.
That wasn't an act. He likes where he is.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
At Rick, it's time to get over five hundred on
the season.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
He's already over five. I thought he's six and six
and five, six and five.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
I've battled back.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Alright, alright too, I'm going with the number eight two
Baja tacos for my Taco Team Time pick of the week,
along with tater fries and coke.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
What is your Taco Time pick of the week.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
Okay, so I really kind of was sniffing around this
under with Iowa and USC on Saturday. It's supposed to
be a big rainstorm in LA and we saw that
play out last week with the Oregon game.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
But I'm going I'm not. I'm gonna take Memphis on
the road.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
At East Carolina.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
I think Memphis is a good team. They were gonna
be the team that was going to the CFB. They
got knocked off by Tulane. I think Memphis' offense is
too good. They're a little I think a two point
underdog in Greensboro. Give me the Tigers.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
I'm gonna give you a little early Christmas gift. I'm
gonna give you two and a half. How about that?
Memphis plus four and a half on the road the
East virus? I love it all right, Ray, Before.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I leave, guys, yes, before I leave.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
I don't know if any of my old guys are listening.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Tomorrow night.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
They're gonna have a little soare over at the University
for the two thousand Rose Bowl championship team over Purdue,
the two thousand and one Rose Bowl champs, and I
can't be there unfortunately. I know the shutdown just ended,
but I couldn't guarantee a flight back to my gigs
in New York. So I just want to say to

(22:00):
those guys, what a thrill it was to coach them,
What a thrill it was to be on the Rose
Bowl field wearing Husky purple. And it's a memory all
have for the rest of my life. And I could
not have gone down that tunnel with better bunch of guys.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
Go Dogs. It was the privilege of a lifetime.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Yeah, they'll be honored this weekend at the game. Great stuff, man,
we're talking a week coach, appreciate it, Thanks coach.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
All right, guys, take care now.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
All right? Rick new Heisel with us. He likes Memphis
and the two and a half against East Carolina for
his Taco Time pick of the week. Let's get the
factor fiction right now? Where's that to go? Glad you're
with us, it's your shot at our weekly.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Thousand bucks and the ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's
Fact door Fiction, probably presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and
hotel where every Day Feels Lucky. Fact Door Fiction is
on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
All right, here we go, Thursday's Dick Day. We were
at the five twenty barring rail big thanks to the
Lucky Ego casino where every day feels Lucky factor fiction.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
What do you guys, Sometimes you gotta put your feelings
for an individual player aside and look at the situation.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Oh the number.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
The Minnesota Vikings have been very competitive recently and have
not won a lot, but they have. They did beat
Detroit two weeks ago. They lost a close one to Baltimore,
a close one to Philly. They get a Chicago team
that is finding a different miracle way to win every
single week against bad teams. They won by one against Vegas,
one against Washington on the last play against since he

(23:38):
and came from ten back in the fourth to beat
the Giants last week. They are living on borrowed time.
In fact, they might not win more than two games
of the rest of the year.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Don't believe me.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Check out the Chicago Bears schedule between now and the
end of the year. Give me my boy, JJ McCarthy,
your boy and the Minnesota He's gonna be my boy
for one game. Wow, gimme JJ McCarthy minus the two
and a half at home against the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Yeah, Andrews Dick has turned JJ McCarthy into basically a
football hooker for this weekend. All right, we want them
for three hours. It's fair. What do I gotta pay
for three hours? How much for three hours? JJ? What's
the line again? You say and a half? It's under Yeah,
it's gone to getting some value. Minnesota giving two and

(24:28):
a half against Chicago this weekend is the play. You
like it text in fact, you hate it text in fiction.
The four nine four five one all courtesy of our
friends at Lucky Eagle dot com, where every day feels
lucky at the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel Vikings, and
the two and a half over Chicago is the pick.

(24:49):
Get it in out of four nine, four five to one.
A little Fun with Audio next Baby on ninety three
three kJ RFM.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
It's now time for Sunday in Dick's fun with Audio.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Jimmy gawn Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo. Now let's have some
fun with audio. All right back here at the five
twenty bar and Grill in Bellevue, Mike Holmgrin is here.
We will talk some football with Mike next on ninety
three to three kjr FM. It's time, though Dick Fane,
were a little fun with audio slash. Hey did you

(25:23):
hear that? Hey, Dick, did you happen to hear that?

Speaker 3 (25:26):
What's that?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Dick? We start in Detroit, Where to Detroit radio personalities
are not happy with Fox college football broadcaster Gus Johnson.
Our friend Rico Beard, our guy, and his partner Mike
Vealeni on ninety seven point one The Ticket Detroit shared
frustrations on their radio show Monday. But before we hear
from them, let's play what they're upset about. Gus Johnson's

(25:50):
call of Indiana's game winning touchdown against Penn State last weekend. Okay,
so obviously his voice cracked, but that sounded like more

(26:10):
than a guy's voice cracking. Yes, what happened there? Was
he sick or something like a short circuit? Was he
fighting a call? Do we have any idea? I watched
the game? Okay, Okay, well I think Gus Johnson's great.
I love Gus Johnson. But here's our buddy again, Rico
Beard and his co host Mike Vlenni complaining about that
call from Gus Johnson.

Speaker 8 (26:27):
Can we say that maybe we need to give a
Gus Johnson a cup of tea or something before he
makes these calls? Can we say that a network executive
needs to sit him down and go, here's the deal,
you Potts, You're not the storyline the game is. That
was such a fake response. He didn't lose his damn voice.
He faked it. He's fake. His whole existence is fake. Guys,

(26:49):
nothing but a charlatan. What a fake ass call. He
ruins everything he touches. He lost his voice? No he didn't. Well, no,
I think he did because every play on that drive
was oh my god, because he's fake. They aren't all
that great of a play, right. He has jumped so
many sharks it's SeaWorld.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
He's a buffoon. He is a clown.

Speaker 8 (27:16):
Sounded like a cat who got hit by a bush.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Jeez, wow, how do you really feel?

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Well?

Speaker 2 (27:22):
He sounds like a seal. By the way, when he
does that impression. That's number one and number two. I mean,
I don't know. Is this a problem with Gus Johnson
because I like Gus Johnson. I mean going back to
the Isaiah Thomas call, right, jock clock turned off, game
clock and a he's gonna do it himself. I mean
that was, you know, fourteen years ago now, But is
this a running issue with Gus Johnson and his voice

(27:43):
is cracking and all that stuff. I mean, there are
people I will tell you this. I do know this
for a fact. There are people in the industry that
have told me before that Gus Johnson is very lazy
when it comes to his job, the preparation that goes
into broadcast things like that. I have heard that from people.
He's lazy. So outside of that, I like him. I
like the way he sounds on the air, and I'd

(28:04):
never heard his voice sound like that until Saturday. I
like him a lot.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
That was over the top, though, I don't know what
had was weird. I have never heard him do that before.
I've heard his voice where he can't get any higher
and it cracks.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
A little bit, right, But I've never heard whatever that was. Yeah,
that was very odd. It was almost like maybe he
was fighting some you know. He didn't talk about this
yesterday on the show, by the way, because he's a
humble guy and all that. But Kevin Harlan during the
Seahawk Cardinal game on Sunday on TV was fighting a migraine.
The entire weekend. The entire weekend was dealing with the
migraine and you would never know it. You would never know,

(28:38):
you would never know. You're exactly right. All right, Hey, Dick,
did you happen to hear that? What's that? Dick? Let's
go to the NFL Giants quarterback Jackson Dart suffering a
concussion and Sunday's loss to the Bears. After the game,
Darts back up, our friend Russell Wilson talked about being
ready to step in for him.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
What did you realize that you might have to come
in the game.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
After that? After that pride jet John down just prepared
to go.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
You know he's tugging about I mean homework.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, you know, he made a great effort trying to
make a plague.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
You know, he did a good job. Strut of him,
tough and.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
And all that. And you know, I just was prepared.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
You know, I think you alas have to be ready
to go, you know, so I felt like I was
really ready to go.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
God, he sounds defeated, doesn't he, doscil Maybe part of
it is because the microphone was one thousand feet away
from his mouth. That may have been one of the
problems of yours. Oh, I hate it. You have no
idea how much I hate it kills me, but he
sounds defeated. I mean now that he's the third guy right,
like they went right past him.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Meanwhile, Jameis Winston is singing songs in his press coffee.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
We'll have that for you on Fun with Audio tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
So like you've got Jamis like the most happy, go
lucky quarterback maybe in the last decade in the NFL
now replacing the most sullen quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Well, Harlan said it yesterday that it's just kind of sad.
I think I agree with him that it's sad what's
going on with Russell Wilson. You know that it ends
this way for him. He's never going to be a
starter again in the NFL. And I don't even know
if i'd want him as my number two guy. No,
would you know? Absolutely not. I don't know where you
go from here? You go? Where do you go?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
That's lower in the NFL than third string quarterback for
the Giant the Browns.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Maybe maybe that's about it, But yeah, I mean, I
just I kind of want him to retire. I said
this on Twitter Dick the other day and Andrews that
I want him to retire. So we can then just
bring him back start celebrating him all the great he
did here. I still think he's the greatest quarterback in
Seahawk history. No disrespect to hasselback Er, Craig or Moon
or anybody else, but I think he's number one and

(30:45):
he deserves all the flowers that come along with it.
You kind of feel like you can't start doing that
until his career is over. All right, we'll get a
cup more here. Hey, Dick, did you happen to hear that?
What's that Dick? About number four? Because that's all we
got left ahead of the anticipated Laker Thunder matchup last night,
which the Thunder kicked their Ask God it God, thanks
for nothing, Lakers Ernie Johnson asking Chuck Barkley how important

(31:10):
that game was to the Lakers with Lebron still injured.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Lakers are eight and three without Lebron James. How big
a game, Chuck, is this for them at okay See?

Speaker 9 (31:19):
I don't think it's a big game because, number one,
they shouldn't win the game because okay See is the
best team in the NBA, and I think by a
good margin, we the Lakers just got to get Lebron helped.
They did see where they are. But I don't think
a game this earned the season matters to them.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Watch anyway.

Speaker 9 (31:43):
I think no, I think it's a I think it's
a good measuring stick for the Lakers right there.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
I do think I appreciate it. Yeah, we'll take you
to OKAC on the other side. But watch anyway.

Speaker 9 (31:55):
That's what he just said, Like this game don't mean
then it's like we'll watch.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
It should have never gone there. I'm trying to understand
why it'd be a big game anyway, It's November? What
am I? What am I miss? Huck's exactly right.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
I think what the point was that Kenny was making
is like, you're the pregame show host and you're basically
telling us it's not a big game.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
We don't on that. I get, Well, what have we
been doing about the Perdue game all weekend long? On Saturday? Yeah,
but it's one of twelve. I mean, this is one
of eighty eighty two. I mean, so you think the
Perdue game then would be bigger than the NBA game.
I mean it's November the freaking twelfth. Who gives it?

Speaker 7 (32:34):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (32:34):
A lot of people don't even start watching basketball until January.
For God's sakes, all right, we're gonna break the reigning
King and Queen of Seattle football. Mister and Missus Holmgren
have both arrived here. It's very very rare that we
see a Kathy Holmgren sighting in public, and we are
honored to have her in our presence. She will be

(32:56):
with her husband Mike by his side next on ninety

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
