If selling feels hard andyou've been just trying to find the
right platform and it stillfeels hard.
For example, maybe you decidedyou wanted to try TikTok when you've
been on Instagram.
Maybe you've decided you wantto try YouTube even though you've
been podcasting.
I'm sharing with you why thismight feel hard to you and why you
(00:21):
aren't converting and making sales.
And it's a surprise that youprobably don't realize, but I'm going
to give you the three keyproblems and how to fix them in this
episode so you can create whatI'm calling rooted or grounded sales.
(00:42):

Chronic illness who want tostart and grow a business online.

(01:02):
I faced the challenge ofadapting traditional business advice
to fit my unique circumstanceswith chronic illness.
Feeling frustrated and moreburned out than I already was while
managing my chronic illness tobecoming an award winning coach.
With a flexible, sustainableonline coaching business.
I found the surprisinglysimple steps to starting and growing
(01:22):
a profitable business withoutcompromising my health or my peace.
Since then, I've helped dozensof women.
Just like you learn how to dothe same.
If you're ready to create a thriving.
Business that aligns with yourlifestyle and.
Well being, you're in theright place.
Together, we're shifting thenarrative of what's possible for
women with chronic illness andhow we make a living.
(01:43):
This is Business with Chronic Illness.
Okay, first and foremost, whyare we talking about this?
Oftentimes when I'm talking tomy clients, one of the first things
that comes up is is thisspiral of not being enough, falling
(02:07):
behind, feeling like they'renot cut out for this because they
have inconsistent energy andthey quote unquote feel like they're
not disciplined or pushinghard enough through whatever trauma,
chronic illness, drama andlife things that they've got going
on in their life.
For example, you could havewoken up this morning and you had
(02:30):
a whole day's work of lifeplanned for your business, for your
family or whatever and yourealize I can't even move.
I need the windows closed, Ineed to just keep my eyes closed
and I can't get out of thisbed right.
What happens in this moment isit often goes into overdrive if you
(02:51):
haven't done some of the prework I'M going to share with you
in this episode.
It drives up some common fearswhen it comes to your business, especially
when it comes to sales and marketing.
All of this fear comes upbecause you're feeling like you're
not enough and that you aren'tdoing enough.
(03:12):
Because of that, it leads tosome decisions that could harm you
physically and emotionally.
So instead of making confidentdecisions, you end up in the fear
paradigm, the survival modewhere you say yes to the wrong clients,
you're clinging to strategiesthat don't work, or you're throwing
(03:32):
money at quick fixes that youcan't even follow through with because
you don't have the capacityphysically health wise, to do it.
And all of this results infrustration for some of us, shame
and a feeling that sales andhaving a business is just not the
thing.
Right?
(03:53):
But what if the problem isn'tthat you're inconsistent or that
you're too sick or that.
Or that this isn't for you?
But what if.
But what if you've been taughtor conditioned by this world and
everything that we see onsocial media that in order to sell
and have a successfulbusiness, you have to assume that
you're a machine, that youhave to push through and grind through.
(04:16):
You have to hustle it out.
What if you had a framework, though?
What if you had a way toregulate your nervous system and
your thoughts first so thatyou can sell from a place of calm,
peace and even curiosity.
And I'm going to be sharingthat with you today.
(04:37):
Look, when you wake up in thatpain and your body says nope, and
your entire day that you planfor, as I mentioned, at the top immediately
gets set back.
It doesn't have to mean thatyou're unprofessional or that you're
going to lose clients or thatyou can't keep up.
Okay, you're not alone in lifeand being a human, it's all about
(04:59):
how you show up within yourbody and in your business.
And that's exactly what I'mcalling the rooted sales process
and how it's built foraddressing this.
I came up with this conceptrecently just listening back through
content for my clients, fromsales calls, from listening to my
(05:19):
clients and also seeing howI've, I.
How I've come to understandsales and marketing and business.
It's really a, just adifferent way of talking about what
we talk about inside myprogram chronically you and profitable,
which is my program thatteaches you how to build a aligned
business, a business thatworks with you from mindset to business
(05:42):
marketing and sales thathappen without you always being on
to leveraging systems andcommunity to create the results that
you want so that you don'thave to do this alone.
This is what happens inside ofchronically you.
And profitable but rootedsales is birthed from that.
Okay, and here's how rootedsales solves three problems.
(06:05):
There are three problems thatI see and I know and I've seen this
happen with my clients kind ofbecome kiboshed by applying rooted
sales.
So number one problem is youcan't stay consistent is a problem
that you have.
You feel like, I can't stay consistent.
My energy is toounpredictable, My life is too unpredictable.
(06:27):
It looks like when clientscome to me and they show up with
energy on Monday, and byTuesday, they're on a completely
different space.
They're having more pain,maybe there's more brain fog, they're
excruciating pain, newdoctor's appointments, all of that,
right?
And they disappear, notbecause they don't care, but because
they're overwhelmed by how tocommunicate without seeing, quote,
(06:50):
unquote, unprofessional whenit comes to their business.
Now, this happens becauseyou're human.
It's not because you have alack of discipline.
Your body is still workingthrough whatever processes that it's
working through to heal.
And so the fact that youaren't the same person as you are
today as you will be tomorrowis not in itself a predictable sign
(07:14):
that in some way you're unprofessional.
Right?
Neuroscience shows thatchronic stress deregulates the prefrontal
cortex.
So that's the part of thebrain responsible for planning and
follow through.
So when you're in that cycleof like, going through all of those
(07:35):
things and you're beatingyourself up for not, quote, unquote,
pushing through, grinding itout, or you should have accomplished
more today, it's kind of nulland void.
When the body is in pain or inextreme fatigue or fatigue, just
in general, the nervous systemdefaults to survival mode, which
makes consistency in yourbusiness, specifically the way you
(07:58):
probably describing it, whichis showing up every single day, which
is sitting at your computer, scrolling the Internet, fixing your
website, doing all theselittle things is impossible, just
quite impossible.
And if you are doing it, it isnot going to be sustainable.
At some point, your body issaying, we done right?
So when you apply the rootedsales response, I'm calling it, you
(08:20):
get a little bit of regulation.
You get an ability to kind ofget your mind from feeling like,
man, I have to do this thing right.
I have to do all of thesethings to letting go.
Right?
And maybe if you have thecapacity doing one thing, if anything.
(08:41):
But before you even can get tothat, here's the part of the rooted
sales system or response thatyou need to have or you need to keep
in mind, you need to take adeep breath, you need to regulate,
you need to ground.
If you're the person that's inthe bed and you are having one of
those bad days and you areinstantly triggered into thinking
how much you're going to bebehind, this is where you get the
(09:03):
chance to regulate.
Take a breath, do some deepbreathing, do some eft tapping.
Give yourself more time toprocess how you are feeling in your
body and that you're okay orthat you will be okay, right?
Rethink all of your to dolists after you've taken a moment
to regulate, right?
(09:25):
Actually cancel things,reschedule them.
When you take this moment toground and like take things off of
your plate, you calm yournervous system down enough to potentially
at some point re engage soonerthan if you didn't do this step,
okay?
(09:46):
The next part of this, you'regoing to rebuild.
So instead of chasing the ideatoday or any day, when life is doing
the life thing, thatconsistency means you have to be
doing the same thing the sametime, all of the time.
You create a persistent rhythmon the times you have capacity, showing
(10:08):
up in smaller, moresustainable ways that flex with your
capacity.
Some days this will just bethat you're in bed and you're resting
and recuperating or processingwhatever the day meant.
And the next day you willfocus on rebuilding one baby step
at a time.
Problem number two is salesfeels pushy, emotional or draining.
(10:32):
And so you avoid it.
Clients often say to me, I getso anxious even thinking about selling.
It feels like I'm forcingsomeone to do something, do something.
And that avoidance around, youknow, sales shows up in underpricing,
procrastinating and takingclients just so that you quote, unquote,
(10:53):
feel safe, even though youdon't actually be safe.
Right?
So why does this.
Sometimes sales can activate athreat response when your nervous
system is not regulated.
It brings up things from ourchildhood from feeling like rejected
conflict, which all are thingsthat can lead to fight or flight.
(11:15):
It feels extremelyuncomfortable, right?
So research shows thatrejection activates the same brain
regions as physical pain.
So no wonder it feels intense.
When you're experiencing thisfeeling of like, I hate sales, you
cannot.
One of my favorite coaches, DLSharon says you cannot do what you
(11:36):
hate.
So how do you undo this youlead lean into the rooted sales response.
In this case, you want to doall four steps.
So the four steps are thefirst two you learned in the first
problem which was to regulate, which is to take some breaths, give
yourself some grounding, reassess your expectations of a situation
(12:00):
and give yourself and yournervous system time to re engage.
When you are grounded androoted, the next step is to rebuild.
So instead of thinking I haveto do such and such a certain way,
think about how am I doingsuch and such a way in a way that
aligns with my complexity andit's actually sustainable.
(12:21):
And for the problem of feelingsafe and sailing and not feeling
like you're too pushy oremotional or like it's draining you,
you want to view yourmarketing as a way to reveal solutions
for their problems and shareyour story and your clients results
which build connection and safety.
The opposite of rejection, theopposite of conflict, right?
(12:47):
When we share our stories, when we share our results, if we've
come from that angle of we'regoing to be talking about solving
people's problems and helpingthem share their story and sharing
my client results, there's notgoing to be a lot of conflict, right?
There's not going to be a lotof rejection unless these people
are not for you, right?
Having this in mind will helpyou feel more grounded.
(13:09):
The number four step in thisresponse is to respond frameworks
that feel conversational, not manipulative.
I know in the world of salesthere are a lot of scripts and a
lot of quote unquote funnelson how are we supposed to do this
and do that and all of those things.
(13:30):
Which is another reason whyour nervous system revs up when it
comes to selling.
That doesn't have to be the case.
Sales can equal servicegiving, right?
And that can, that will calmyour nervous system when you feel
like you're coming from aplace of giving people something
that they can use in theirlife, whether they become your client
(13:52):
or not, it helps you feel good.
Problem number three, this isa big one.
Especially in this time oflife right now, many have a fear
or a problem of feeling.
I've invested in programsbefore, but I can't follow through
or I haven't been able tofollow through.
Here's what this looks like.
Many of my clients feel shamefor not finishing courses or implementing
(14:16):
strategies that they've donewith their one on one coaching or
have changed their mind aboutwhat kind of business that they're
going to have, thinkingnothing they did before is going
to serve them now.
But the truth is those systemswill serve you all based on how you
view yourself in those, thosethings and give yourself permission
to be like, maybe those thingsweren't designed for the body and
(14:39):
life that I was living at the time.
Chronic illness, burning out, whatever that might be.
And it's not about the factthat I did wrong.
I got through it right.
So what happens when you feelmore grounded, when you shift this
mind, mindset, this thought process?
(14:59):
Realize that a lot of salesadvice out there wants us to feel
like we have unlimitedcapacity and we're seeing everyone's
highlight reel.
But research shows executivedysfunction and fatigue reduce the
brain's ability to initiatecomplex tasks.
So without our nervous systemaware foundation, which many of us
(15:20):
were not taught when we firststarted our businesses, we were taught
to start marketing or startlike we were taught like some generalized
idea about mindset, about howwe view ourselves, but not how that
actually affects our physicalbody and our brains.
So without our nervous systemaware foundation, a lot of those
strategies may not work foryou or if they could have worked
(15:42):
for you, you weren't quiteready because you hadn't implemented
this nervous system regulating foundation.
So how do you deal with this?
With the rooted salesresponse, last of the Rs is to root
ground yourself in safety andalignment before taking action.
(16:02):
That creates a baseline ofpeace that makes implementation possible.
Meaning do those three stepsagain specifically regulate, rebound,
reveal and respond for yourself.
And once you're rooted, anyinvestment or strategy becomes usable
instead of another shelfcourse gathering dust.
(16:26):
When you can get your nervoussystem at this pace of, at this place
of peace, this baseline of I'mokay going in and out of like, oh,
I'm uncomfortable but I'm okay.
Oh, I'm uncomfortable becausethat's business.
Oh, I'm uncomfortable, but I'm okay.
You can then go through anypiece of content that your, your
coach, past coaches orwhatever if you so choose to and
(16:48):
be able to use what is therefor you.
One of my one on one clientscame in holding onto like four done
for you clients and she wasafraid of, you know, losing them
or letting them go.
And it equated that.
She just felt unsecure, right?
But through the rooted salessystem was she that which I implemented
(17:12):
with her without her reallyusing like noting it something I've
been testing without callingit a name.
She released two misaligned clients.
She raised her ratesconfidently with two other clients
that she currently that hadand opened up a new group that's
lighting her up in a different way.
(17:33):
So here's the thing.
You can have more income withless stress and you can have alignment
with your long term vision.
That's what happens when youstop forcing sales from survival
mode and start rooting them in.
(17:53):
Flow and Peace.
So why am I talking about this now?
We're living in a time thatthere's a lot of mistrust with people.
People are taking time plusthey're bogged down with so much
information, so many things, right?
Because life is lifing so theytake longer to make decisions.
(18:14):
It's not that they take longerto make decisions because of you.
They just take a bit of timebecause of the situation that we're
all in in some different ways, shape or form.
They may have been burnt by acoach before, they may have different
financial situations that theynever experienced before.
Maybe nothing has changed andthey're just a little more shy as
a person.
(18:36):
What this does is trigger alsotriggers a fear response in you.
You end up feeling like, well, since it takes people longer to buy,
I should just say yes to anyclient that comes my way.
Meaning any misaligned climatejust so you can feel safe.
Meaning you are chasingchasing people like hunting them
(18:57):
down for investments thataren't really right for you and you're
accepting offers that drainyou instead of sustain and help you
to grow.
Rooted sales is the antidote.
It helps you reclaimneutrality and peace so you don't
make fear based decisions.
Instead you stay grounded, patient and attracting the type of
(19:19):
people that you want.
Even when the market feelsslow or people and the environment
and things are happening.
Even when those things arehappening in your life and theirs.
You are grounded, you arerooted so you don't have to push
harder to sell.
You need a system that rootsyou back into your peace, clarity
(19:40):
and persistence and that'swhat rooted sales is.
And if you're ready to godeeper, that's exactly what we build
inside of Chronically you andprofitable so your business can grow
even on your lowest capacity days.
When you wake up that morningyou feel like oh my gosh, I'm sorry.
Behind.
