(00:02):
Bigger wheels do not fix potholes. It's a fantastic saying, Hey, this
ain't about rollerblading, It's really not. It's about the fact that, as
you know, I've got some rollerblades of Christmas and trying to get out

(00:23):
regularly both Saturdays and Sundays with myseven year old daughter, and trying to
get out a few times to jointhe week as well, and I've got
some eighteen meal wheels, and Idon't think I've been out on the sidewalks
and the pavements of the UK withouthitting a cracking a road or a pothole

(00:46):
or something in just ending up onmy ass. Can I say that?
On this podcast? Ended up onmy bottom? And someone said, get
some bigger wheels, because by definition, the bigger the wheels are, the
less you will, you know, get caught in a hole that will,

(01:12):
you know, trip you up.So that okay, good points. So
I've been obsessed is a strong word. I don't think I've been obsessed,
but I've been doing some research thelast probably two weeks on bigger wheels one
hundred and twenty five meals. Soyeah, one hundred and twenty five meal

(01:37):
wheels pretty much what sort of aseventy to eighty percent bigger. Yeah,
that'd be better. I mean I'llfall over less, I get out and
about more, get some more exercise, it'd be a smoother ride. Bish
bosh, get on in order. And I just so happened to Ring.

(02:02):
I saw his YouTube video and thenthey had a phone number on there.
Gave him a call and just saidwhat do you think? In I just
explained my situation. I'm forty eightyears old, I've only been skating six
months and what are you thinking? And he straightaway went His opening comment was
bigger wheels don't solve potholes or don'trepair potholes or something, and I giggled,

(02:30):
and he then went on to explainthat you're looking you might be looking
at the wrong metric, the wrongthing. You're solving an issue by focusing
on the by not you need toidentify the core issue and then consider whether

(02:53):
your solution has identified the core solution. And I then put the core problem
and then put the solution in placefor it. Right. That makes sense.
I haven't butchered that too much. And it also reminds me to I
heard a story a few years agowhere I think it was the University of

(03:16):
Canada or something, one of theuniversities in Canada, the business school we're
working with. It could have beenhospitals in Asia, somewhere in Asia at
least to reduce waiting times. Andapparently this one student didn't quite understand the

(03:40):
assignment, got it all wrong, missed a few lectures or something, and
came up with this theory that alot of people in Asia, they get
discharged from hospital and then have toreturn within sort of the first ten day,
is because of complications with their healthbecause there's just not the experience and

(04:04):
expertise at home and knowledge to beable to support that recovery. So what
they identified was, you know, get better sort of documentation and training for
those at home on how to supporttheir their family members, and therefore it's

(04:26):
going to massively reduce waiting times. And apparently, you know, when the
whole entire university came up with lookingat appointment systems and how people get sort
of initially checked and then referred, and yeah, all that type of opening

(04:48):
times and all this type of thing, this one student who misunderstood the assignment
single handedly reduced the waiting times forthis particular area or country or what have
you. And again it's about understandthe core problem and then find the solution.
And I was with these skates thinkingpotholes. I fall over a lot.

(05:14):
I need bigger wheels. And theguy said to me, but you
also need to if you've only beendo this, you know, six months,
and you're forty eight years old,you need to build up the strength
in your calfs and your ligaments andyour tendons and your knees and your ankles.
And that's part of the issue. As soon as you hit the slightest

(05:38):
bump it's probably uncomfortable. Well,if you can stick with it in other
six months, get out every day, and gradually you won't notice those because
your ankles and your knees were thatmore as shockers orbits, and your muscles
and your calf will become you know, the muscles required to support your there

(06:00):
will grow. And that's that's thecore issue. Don't you know potholes are
always an issue in any country.Don't think it's just a thing that needs
bigger wheels. And I'm like, wow, okay, you've put completely a
different light on this, and Iappreciate it. And this is a podcast

(06:23):
about confidence and self esteem and motivation. So what does that all mean?
It's it's it's to me a commonissue that people who struggle from motivational motivational
issues from the ability or the lackof ability to actually take action and the

(06:50):
drive required two succeed, and thosewho suffer from confidence self esteem. You're
a place where quite often you're notaddressing the core issue. I've heard the
analogy used quite a few times.Once I lose a bit more weight,
I'll start dating. Well, you'reconfusing the two issues here. The thing

(07:14):
isn't once I lose weight, Iwill have What you're saying is once I
lose weight, I'll be more confidentand then I can start dating people.
No, and that's two completely differentthings. You're mixing your dietary habits with
your ability to socialize and interact withpeople. There, it's completely different things.
You're looking at the core issue here, which is your confidence and self

(07:39):
esteem. Then if you address thatin the first place, then that's nothing
to do with whether you can go. You know, that's nothing to do
with your diet, is it.It's just to do with addressing your confidence
and self esteem to give you enoughto be able to go out and talk
to people and start potentially dating them. And the same rule apply with everything

(08:01):
and anything you're looking to achieve. You have to think, consider what the
core issue is. It's difficult,it's not an easy thing to do.
Some of these things are deep rooted. It's things that you know, we'll
go back to your childhood. Thereare things that need to be explored over
time. Quite often you need thehelp of someone else, maybe someone who

(08:26):
is not close to you, becauseagain they have biases, they have preconceived
ideas about what's right and what's wrongand why you're in this position. I'm
not suggesting as me. It canbe me. It can be me if
you want to get in touch, but let it be somebody. Let somebody
help you with this. Spend thetime to do this, Spend the time

(08:48):
to get this right. Think aboutit. It's the core foundational skills attributes
required for you to to grow asa human being and succeed and be a

(09:11):
better person tomorrow than you are today. If you want to talk about this
in more detail, if you wantto talk to me about this very issue,
get in touch. Would love, would love to help you. On
Twitter at Blundell Underscore James. That'sBlundell beat l U N D E L

(09:35):
L underscore James. Have a fantasticday. Think about those core issues that
are holding you back. What areyou going to do about it? What
are you going to do about it? Take the action. Do something today.
Whatever you do, whether you contactme or not, do something today
to address those core issues, evenif it's just five minutes, even if

(09:58):
it's get it yourself a journal andjust start making a few notes. Do
it today. Can you do that? Of course you can. I know
you can. I've got faith inyou. Let me know how you get
on. Have a good day.Goodbye,
