Using everyday life, you know, the rest to help you increase your confidence
in your self esteem. How youdiddling? How you diddling on this fine
Saturday morning. Yep, two weeksin a row, I haven't managed to
get a podcast out in time bymy usual standards. And it's probably happened

(00:23):
again next week because I know I'mup for a really busy week next week,
which, having said that, alsosuggests that I should be planning that
now. If I've declared to theworld that I'm not going to get something
done in the next seven days, well what's the excuse I need to I

(00:45):
need to organize my time to dothat, don't I talking of which I
had a conversation this week with somebodyat work, somebody I manage, who
was basically saying there was their departmentare getting some really good results, and

(01:06):
well, really, they've had somereally good results this week, and they
would saying I can't take credit forit, because you know, it's it's
out of the norm. It's they'vehad a growth of I think it was
one point six percent just in oneweek alone. And I said, hang
on a minute, of course youcan, because yes, okay, it

(01:27):
could be coincidence that this week thosestats are out of the ordinary. But
you've been applying yourself to this projectweek in, week outter the last I
don't know, eighteen months. Andfrom small accorns grow big otries, don't

(01:51):
they. It's the it's the powerof the is it James the book Automic
Habits and I don't know. Ithink it is. Isn't it? Um?
If you haven't read it yet,you should Automic Habits by James Clear,
He's about the One of the ruleshe talks about is the sort of

(02:12):
one percent rule. It's about umevery single day, just applying yourself and
by one percent. And if youyou know, if your target is to
to read, if your target isto become a reader, then you need

(02:36):
to get an habit of reading abook every day, sorry, not a
book. You need to get ahabit of reading every day. And you
know, let's say you're in youread by sort of ten pages a day,
last seventy pages a week. Butif you just increase your daily reading
by one percent amountain too, Idon't know, you know, ten point

(03:00):
one percent. You repeat that processweek after week, month after month.
The transformations over a year are massivebecause it's something like, you know,
over the course of a month,an extra sort of ten pages or something,

(03:25):
which may not seem a lot, because that's essentially what you've just done
in a day, but that's ityou have through no effort, because it's
this habit that you're this sort ofhabit being something which you're doing subconsciously and
you're doing naturally. You've just donea whole day's worth of exercise, in

(03:52):
this case reading without even thinking aboutit, because you know that is if
there's three days in that particular month, you've actually done thirty one day's reading.
It's the it's the sort of powerof consistent incremental growth. And to

(04:19):
two things I wanted to say withit, it was, first of all,
my employee had to be reminded thatthe results you're getting today or last
week, and the results you're goingto get next week and not necessarily reflective
of the work you've done over theprevious ten days, the reflective of the

(04:42):
habits that you've created and the systemsand processes that they'd put in place over
the previous couple of years. Andthis thing doesn't it's not reflective if you
work really hard for two weeks. You might not see that result in two
weeks time. But if you keepapplying yourself day after day, month after
month, a bit like this podcast, I'm over a million downloads. Now,

(05:06):
that didn't all happen in the firstyou know, it wasn't consistent.
Say I've recorded one hundred episodes, then NASA is it ten thousand? That's
ten that equals ten thousand downloads perepisode. No, it doesn't. It
doesn't work like that at all inthe first couple of months. I'd be

(05:26):
lucky if anyone listened to it.So this thing, game's momentum, whatever
you're looking to achieve in life, that's the key thing. That's the key
thing to remember. It's not aboutthe outcomes. Focus on the focus on
the systems, focus on the processes, focus on the intention, and hey,

(05:48):
who knows, after a while, you might start to see the results
as well. From a confidence andself esteem point of view, people regularly
contact me saying they want higher levelsof confidence and self esteem, and I've
quite often given them challenges to goaway and just look at this in a

(06:10):
bit more detail, reflect on whatthey're currently doing or not doing. Quite
often I'll contact them after a weekor ten days and say, how are
you getting on. I haven't hadtime to look at it yet. What
are you planning to do? It'snot about allocating eight hours to reflect on
your confidence and self esteem. You'dbe better off using finding five minutes every

(06:32):
single day food for thought. Havea fantastic day, have a fantastic weekend. Goodbye,
