Despite loving what you do, being constantly told how to sit, how to stand, whether you’re wearing the right lip color or if you’re too dark for a role can take its toll.

Continuing our Mental Health Awareness Series is none other than Theatre and Film Actress Germôna Sharp.  In our honest talk, Germôna talks about her journey of enoughness and how she learned it’s okay to not be okay.

Germôna loves the arts!  With a grandmother who is also an actress in L.A. and a grandfather who is a singer and actor in Atlanta and both sides of her family being lovers of entertainment, it was only right that Germôna took her chance at being center stage. She has been singing since she was three years old and acting since she was twelve, with her very first acting role being in her high school production of “...For Colored Girls”. She has graced the stage in many different theatre productions such as Blood Done Sign My Name (RLT), Sister Act: The Musical (RLT), Caroline, or Change: The Musical (JTP), Steel Magnolias, and many more.

She is also a film actress and works closely with an up and coming production company in the NC area, EazeDay Entertainment.

But behind all the perfect fitting clothes and immaculate makeup, Germôna still struggles with the names she was called in middle school where she was severely bullied and mocked.  Though she made great strides in her adulthood, the toll of it leaked out as anger and an over-encompassing need to “look the part.”  This led to depression, isolation, stress and stagnation.  It wasn't until she got a wake up call from an unexpected place that she woke up to the support around her and discovered a deeper passion.
