Beim Begriff der Body modification fällt einem spontan das Tattoo, oder auch das in letzter Zeit etwas aus der Mode gekommene Piercing ein. Doch was Menschen darüber hinaus alles mit dem Ziel vermeintlicher Selbstoptimierung an sich verändern können und wollen, ist ein ganz eigenes formen- und farbenreiches Universum. Einer, der sich in diesem Universum zuhause fühlt und als langjähriger Fachmann auch für Body modifications im Genitalbereich gilt, ist der Neuropsychologe Prof. Dr. Erich Kasten. Im Gespräch mit Dr. Marcus Mau berichtet er mit hanseatischer Gemütlichkeit praxisnah und kurzweilig über die schillernde und teils bizarre Welt der "Körperoptimierung", aber zeigt ebenso nützliche Anwendungen - z.B. von Tattoos - im medizinischen Bereich.
