Jonathan Correia (00:07):
Welcome to talking

Lindsey (00:08):
Did we get it?

Jonathan Correia (00:09):
Well we did and then you interrupted me

Lindsey (00:13):
is that it? Did we do it?

Jonathan Correia (00:15):
Damn it we almost we almost did it. Welcome
to Talking Titans, the Eye OnHorror minisode series where we
watch and then talk about TheBoulet Brothers Dragula Titans
now on Shudder I'm your hostJonathan Correia, Eye On Horror
is the official podcast ofiHorror.com and with me is our

(00:35):
Eye On Horror producer LindseyGant. Lindsey How are you?

Lindsey (00:38):
Hello I am doing good.
I am at my mom's house inColorado in a blustery weather
which I'm not used to being inLA most often now but I am
bundled up and I am a good to adish on Dragula

Jonathan Correia (00:51):
it's it's really weird because you're
you're usually just in the otherroom. But now so when I say like
how are you doing? It's nosecret really?

Lindsey (00:59):
How are you doing?

Jonathan Correia (01:02):
And also joining us is author writer,
publicist, fellow podcaster, allaround one of my favorite
people, Waylon Jordan, Waylon.
How are you?

Waylon Jordan (01:12):
I am frozen. Like yeah, the people of Colorado. I
love you. My husband is fromColorado. We we love the cold up
there. We do not love the coldin Texas. Fuck all of this.

Lindsey (01:27):
What is your what is your temperature today where
you're at?

Waylon Jordan (01:29):
Well, when I woke up it was 50 degrees this
morning. And right now it's 10so Oh,

Lindsey (01:35):
well, when I woke up this morning, it was negative 10

Waylon Jordan (01:38):
Oh geez.

Lindsey (01:39):
All day long.

Waylon Jordan (01:40):
Screw That

Lindsey (01:41):
no Colorado people are not used to this weather either.

Jonathan Correia (01:45):
I know guys, it's been real brutal here in
California too. I'm wearing myone of my ponchos is right now.
It's just like a really cold 65right now. And it's going to
drop to like a 45 later. Oh,thats so bad

Lindsey (01:57):
I'm so sorry.

Jonathan Correia (01:59):
Oh, no

Lindsey (01:59):
take me back. I'll be there next week.

Waylon Jordan (02:01):
I'm really not gonna say what I'm thinking
right now Jon.

Jonathan Correia (02:05):
I haven't lost my New England blood if that's
what you think I'm beingsarcastic

Lindsey (02:11):
Says the guy who's actually in a poncho right now.

Jonathan Correia (02:13):
Yeah, dude Lindsey got me this poncho? It's
comfy ass poncho. Yeah. Anywho.
Before we get into Talking
Disrespectfully Fuck all of you

Lindsey (02:26):
Disrespectfully.

Jonathan Correia (02:31):
The second episode opening up with Coco
first of all, everyone's alreadylike, oh my god, I can't believe
they did that. Oh, again, alwaysmaking it about themselves. And
then Coco just comes indisrespectfully. Fuck all of
you. Icon!

Lindsey (02:46):
What a way to quick kick off an episode.

Jonathan Correia (02:48):
Damn, dude, she came hard.

Waylon Jordan (02:50):
And not only did she read everybody, but she
wouldn't let them talk. Shewouldn't let them. You know,
every time they tried to saysomething. She was like, no. Oh,
okay, Astrud, let's make it allabout you all over again. I
loved that. I was like, wow,

Jonathan Correia (03:06):
my favorite was she's reading everybody. And
then she goes, Oh, and Hoso!Because everyone else has chimed
in about something except Hososo she's like, ah, it was almost
like she was trying to sneak outof the room. And Coco just
grabbed her By the wig, it waslike ah bitch, you're in this
too? How does it feel to be thesmartest person in the room? I
mean, again, it's one of thosethings we kind of talked about

(03:27):
it the other week, were someonecalling out everyone else. Not
not a whole lot of like, youknow, self, you know, calling
out in that. But I think theyall needed to hear it. As we saw
in the first few minutes. It wasimmediately back into that. And
it's like, Coco made a reallygood point of like, Hey, listen,
you know, you have to understandhow this type of behavior and
this toxicity, even if it's notdirectly at someone can affect

(03:50):
the vibe and the mood of theroom. And if someone is going
through real life stuff likeMelissa was going with her
husband leaving that'sunderstandable that it would
affect her so much.

Lindsey (03:58):
I'm so glad that she called out and Hoso because I've
been waiting for someone anyoneto call out Hoso this entire
show. Like she's just beendragging on the drama so hard to
be able to call her out. Andthat way it was really needed.
And I think she took it to hearta little bit. I think everybody
kind of took it to heart. And Ireally appreciate the way that
Coco went about it because shewent hard and she went firm,
like a strong parent with astrong fit, not fist with a

(04:21):
parent with a strong will.
Saying you all messed up hereand you need to be called out on
this. I don't want to have to bethe one yelling at you in this
way. Yeah, this is the only wayI'm being heard. And so if you
all don't listen to me in thisway, and she pulled back she was
like, I want to be talking toyou about this at this level.
But you guys are not listeningto me. How can I have these
conversations with you if that'snot happening? So I really

(04:44):
appreciate it was entire GreatCoco moment.

Waylon Jordan (04:48):
This was the only way they were gonna listen. And
it was interesting to see howafterward everybody's attitude
kind of shifted a little bit andit was like okay, next to the
last episode. Let's get to worklet's do the thing.

Jonathan Correia (05:02):
Yeah, cuz it wasn't a scream she didn't
scream at them she she raisedher voice she yelled but she
wasn't screaming like your BitchFuck you cunt! it was I'm
talking at a louder value volumebecause you're so you'll listen
but I'm saying things and you'rehearing it I'm saying coherent
thoughts. She's not just sayingyou're a piece of shit you're a
piece of shit. She's goingaround and saying like, this is

(05:23):
what we've been seeing this iswhat's been going on Fuck all of
you, but then gave time to belike, but listen, we can still
be cool just like drop thisshit. You know, you saw everyone
really take a and especiallyVictoria, you know, Victoria had
a moment of like, let's not befriends and then like Coco kept
saying her bit totally ignoringit. And then by the end of it,
Victoria was like, because Idon't want to lose you as a
friend. It's like yeah, sohaving that moment of like

(05:45):
calling people out but then alsotaking the moment to Alright,
now that we're all vulnerable.
Let's

Waylon Jordan (05:49):
Yes, now that I turn you all into raw nerves,
let's figure out what we'regonna do,

Jonathan Correia (05:56):
which was then pushed into this week's Frieght
Feat because the Boulets hadeveryone do a light detector,
right after

Lindsey (06:05):
Which was honestly kind of perfect. They all needed to
be shook up a little bit. Andthen I mean, we can talk about
the the trust element that comesout of it also, but it's just
there's a lot that went into it,I think was really helpful for
this level.

Jonathan Correia (06:17):
Well, I mean, that the lie detector test
answered a lot of importantquestions like Are you keeping
secrets in them titties? Some ofthem were keeping secrets and
them titties, you know?

Lindsey (06:27):
Some of them were glad that that's clear.

Jonathan Correia (06:30):
Important questions like oh, so would you
dress up as a lizard for forAstrud in the bedroom but more
so it was definitely getting tolike some of the hit some real
fucking nerves like do you trustyour fellow competitors? All of
them said no. And thenafterwards, they're like,
weirdly, that kind of brought usmore together and trusting each
other more because now we knowthat we all don't don't trust
each other.

Waylon Jordan (06:49):
Now that we all know that everybody is in the
same place when they when theybrought it down. It was very
interesting to see them askeveryone in the room. Are you
the one who was sabotaging Cocoand then the reaction afterward
when Coco was like, Well, Idon't know.

Jonathan Correia (07:09):
Well, they are not sabotaging me. And I might
not think that I'm beingsabotage but something's going
on. And then just tells the offscreen producer Don't look at me
like that. Adorable.

Waylon Jordan (07:21):
Oh, and then well, maybe you're just haunted.
I loved that too. Like, obviously, everything else has
been, you know, wiped out. Soyou must be being haunted

Jonathan Correia (07:30):
Coco. The sabotage is coming from within

Lindsey (07:34):
I do love though the ultimate trust they put into the
the house.
lie detector machine. Like ifthat was bieng on the lie
detector machine. I'd be like,This is so dumb. This is so
faulty. Like why are we evendoing this doesn't make any
sense. But they took everythingthat came out of that as truth.
And I think that's fun.

Waylon Jordan (07:51):
And asking Astrud, do you think that you
belong in the final three? Andyou're saying

Lindsey (07:56):
really good.

Waylon Jordan (07:57):
And that was something when she said no. And
they were like, Yep, she'stelling the truth. I was like,
oh shit,

Lindsey (08:04):
Moment of self reflection.

Jonathan Correia (08:06):
She did clarify in the boudoir that she
didn't view herself doing betterthan any of the others in the
room. Like she still saw herself there and wanted to be
there. But she couldn't seeherself doing better than the
others. And that'sunderstandable. But it's also
it's that's rough. That's reallyrough to admit and to kind of
think about and then yeah, wesaw it affect her into the

(08:28):
boudoir. But this week'schallenge was a reimagining of
classic horror icons, I thoughtwas phenomenal. Pretty much
across the board everyone veryfantastic. Really cool spins. I
think Eva has made me thesaddest because I'm such a huge
Mars Attacks fan. I'm obsessed.
It's one of my next tattoos isgoing to be Mars Attacks
inspired and her look was so onpoint. But it was again, kind of

(08:50):
like in the previous season.
Bitter Betty did Elvira it wasto the point there wasn't too
much deviation from that. Andher prosthetic was coming off a
bit mid performance too. So thatkind of knocked her down in a
time when you have to beabsolutely perfect.

Lindsey (09:07):
That's why I like this episode so much because I'd love
her performance I love that lovethough such a cool look, but
still wasn't as good as otherpeople's looks and what didn't
exactly for the challenge.
That's why I just love thiswhole final floor show for this
episode, because everyone wasjust so great that it was just
such an exciting showaltogether, but I love Evas
look. I don't think that it wasbetter than the ones who are the
ones who were performing. But Imean, I think it was really

(09:30):
good.

Waylon Jordan (09:31):
And it was interesting to see her do
something that no one wouldexpect because you go into
talking about horror icons MarsAttacks is not the thing that
jumps to my mind immediately. Soit was good that she jumped
outside the box on that and didsomething really cool and like I
think it was Joe Bob told heryou know, I don't think of them
as icons, but if they're iconicto you then go for it. You know

(09:52):
that kind of thing, which wasreally cool. We do have to talk
about Coco here though becauseCoco did full drag and did the
Boulet Brothers and holy shit.
She was amazing. She lookedfucking amazing.

Lindsey (10:06):
She nailed it. Oh my god, the look the performance
and then also twisted enough tomake it exactly her own. Yeah,

Jonathan Correia (10:13):
it was such a great blend of the Boulets and
Coco's drag that just cametogether so cohesively, and she
was fucking hot. I'm sorry, I

Lindsey (10:25):
Don't apologize!

Jonathan Correia (10:28):
I was definitely crushing on Coco's
Boulets look, but yeah, she andshe nailed the performance too.
I thought that was the funniestfucking thing that they're like
let the floor show begin. Andthen it's a repeat of the
Boulet's intro. But with Cocoinstead, and then she does or
does her impression and she endson that like perfect like little
doing their sign off. But eventhe sign off was a bit of Coco

(10:50):
or she adds her own littleinflection and then her

Lindsey (10:53):
it was so good. And honestly, I was thinking about
it. I was like, I want to seeCoco in that same position of
the Boulets is like I could seeher being the host of one of
these shows just how sheperformed that Well. I would
love to see more of that.

Jonathan Correia (11:04):
I think we all agree Coco needs her own show. I
don't know whats its going tobe. Just give her own show where
it's just like half of it is hertaking bong rips and talking
about ghost stories. And thenthe other half is like some form
of competition that she gets toread people on then another
great legendary look to come outof this one was Victoria with

(11:25):
her Cryptkeeper which was notexpected

Waylon Jordan (11:28):
not expected. But again, nailed it. I mean, like
the perfect sort of taking theicon and and making it your own.
I mean, you know, with that godawful Brown. I mean, just that's
the worst color ever. And shesomehow still made it work ya
know

Jonathan Correia (11:47):
If she hadn't nailed the performance, which is
the voice and the puns. If shehadn't nailed those, she would
have bottemed them because thatlook is you can't do much more
with the Cryptkeeper withoutdeviating too much from it. But
she nailed it. She really didmake a drag Cryptkeeper come to
life and she had the book. Whenyou open it. It's tales from

(12:08):
Dragula. Like such fun detailsin there.

Lindsey (12:11):
Yeah, John, she would have bottemed so hard. Had she

Waylon Jordan (12:14):
Yeah, you know, see, Lindsey I was gonna let
that go. I was just gonna letthat go. But you know,

Lindsey (12:20):
I was like, nobody's gonna let this go bring it to
the surface.

Jonathan Correia (12:26):
Bring it bring it to the top

Waylon Jordan (12:27):
how hard exactly would she have bottomed?

Lindsey (12:30):
NO! JON! Stop trying!

Jonathan Correia (12:32):
You guys call me out, I don't try.

Lindsey (12:38):
But No, but seriously, she did so good. And I honestly
thought she was lip synching toa track of the Cryptkeeper
initially, like the voice was soon. I don't know, like, where
that came from. Because, youknow, we've been laughing at her
entire season about herinability to act, line? So like,
you know, from that whole bit, Idon't know where that came from.

Waylon Jordan (12:58):
She's had such a hard time with any kind of
performance. I mean, you know, she can certainly she can work a
look and everything. But as faras performance goes, nobody was
expecting that from her at all.
And to just see it but ofcourse, you know, earlier in the
episode when she like pulled outthat fake knife and started
chasing everyone around theboudoir. I mean, I didn't expect
that either. And that was a lotof fun. It's like she finally

(13:21):
got to the point where she wasjust like, Okay, let me just cut
cut loose and have some fun thisseason. You know, because she'd
been working so damn hard theentire time.

Jonathan Correia (13:31):
Yeah, it was nice seeing her cut loose a bit
because she is I don't know ifit's how she presents herself or
how she's presented in the edit.
But she definitely comes off

Waylon Jordan (13:38):
uptight.

Jonathan Correia (13:40):
I wouldn't even say uptight, but just like,
you know, it's one of thosethings where it's like, oh, man,
you're the coolest person in theroom. I'm nervous around you,
you know, and then like, they'rejust quietly standing there and
then you go to talk to them.
You're like, Oh, you're just aperson. She's presented on a
pedestal so much that it seemsunapproachable but she she is
very approachable. She's veryfun. I love seeing her cut
loose.

Waylon Jordan (14:00):
I'd approach I would so approach but we've
already discussed anyway,

Jonathan Correia (14:06):
so on to Hoso Who's

Waylon Jordan (14:09):
Oh, so killed it.
I loved that look with withSamara or rather not.

Jonathan Correia (14:15):
Yeah, She was very clear.

Waylon Jordan (14:16):
I just lost the name.

Jonathan Correia (14:18):
Sadaku

Waylon Jordan (14:18):
I had it. I mean, she killed it. I loved what she
did with the VHS tapes and thehair and everything. It was a
really cool look. Yeah. And

Jonathan Correia (14:27):
what they showed of the performance she
went for it. She was crawlingall over the floor. She had like
the hair all over her face andwhatnot. And this was again,
she's doing I don't know if sheheard our critiques. Probably
not I mean this is allpre-tapped but she she didn't go
too much with things you know, like she had all these different
elements, but it was all tight.
It was all in there. It madesense. It wasn't just like
building onto it. Like justkeeping adding Legos to a set it

(14:50):
felt very cohesive with her wethair and then the hair be
incorporated into the dress.
Yeah, it was phenomenal.

Lindsey (14:58):
I definitely did like this look quite a bit and I know
that it's already is a moviecharacter, but I kind of want to
see Hoso's interpretation as themovie character like, you know,
with a very strongcharacterization of face and
that makeup that she does andthe stringy hair, it was just a
very cool look that I coulddefinitely see in a movie like
that. So I mean, it's probablyone of my not one of my favorite
books of hers, she's done areally great looks really top

(15:19):
notch from her.

Waylon Jordan (15:19):
And she's always so detail oriented, everything,
nothing is half done when shedoes it. I mean, she may do too
much, but nothing is half donewhile she's doing it.

Lindsey (15:28):
Right. The judges were correct in saying that, like
maybe if she hadn't done all theVHS tapes or the TV bits that
they would be harder torecognize that character was but
because she right off the batpresented it in that way. We
knew immediately who she was,was able to frame it in that
context. So context is alwaysimportant. So she did that

Jonathan Correia (15:44):
Yeah, I think she learned her lesson on making
really well.
sure people knew what she wasafter hagfish. Yes,

Lindsey (15:52):
Hagfish. You don't know. Fish, fish, the Korean
specialty.

Jonathan Correia (15:57):
Now, the final performer that we haven't
discussed that had a bit oftrouble with the context was
Astrud with her cyberpunkPredator look, which I didn't
hate. But it felt more like itwas a cyberpunk warrior that was
emulating predator thancyberpunk predator, if that
makes sense.

Waylon Jordan (16:17):
Yeah, I don't know. Just the look. The look
never came together for me. Iyou know, I knew what she was
doing. Because she told us whatshe was doing. But the look, it
never solidified for me. I don'tknow it just when you get down
to that final cut. And you know, two people are going home and
whatever. I mean, you can'tleave anything out. And she did

(16:41):
not feel like she had completedwhat she was trying to do.

Lindsey (16:44):
I think it was really solid luck if she was at the
club or at Burning Man. Yeah, that would that would have been
like, you know, the highlight ofthe entire night probably at one
of those clubs is seeing thatkind of character, but just
wasn't up to up to par for whatwe're seeing. For other
competitors.

Jonathan Correia (17:00):
It was a great look that I think would have
made her pretty safe earlier inthe season. But yeah, we're
getting into top three, especially in comparison to the
others. It just wasn't quitethere.

Waylon Jordan (17:11):
Well, and let's face it, Melissa nailed the
Predator earlier in the season.
So coming off of that, oh, yeah, that and then you come in with
this. I mean, it's gonna pullcomparisons. Yeah, Melissa
definitely nailed it more thanAstrud did.

Jonathan Correia (17:26):
And so that's where we ended up. We ended up
with Hoso, Victoria and Cocomoving on, with the top looks of
the night and Eva and Astrud inthe bottom. The Boulets already
said earlier to before thejudges deliberation that when it
came to the wrestling episode, they saved Eva, that was the one
that was going to go home thatnight. And because she didn't

(17:47):
make top this week, should theysent her home so they kind of
spelled out like no, these twoare definitely going home
tonight before then, but westill had to sit in the boudoir
with them while they werebecause the boudoir or the
boudoir after this whole seasonhas felt like this is where they
make their last stand. This iswhere they make their comments
to everybody. I don't know howmuch of that actually factored
into it. But it felt it felt itfelt very raw. Like going in

(18:10):
there. It's like, oh, we knowyou two are kind of going home
tonight. Yeah, this seems alittle fruitless.

Waylon Jordan (18:16):
But go on and say what you got to say. Yeah, I
mean, at this point, might aswell.

Jonathan Correia (18:21):
And then of course, they both ascended. What
No, they had all the competitorsascend this time,

Waylon Jordan (18:26):
except for Hoso

Jonathan Correia (18:28):
yeah. Because Hoso won the challenge. And so
the remaining, the other fourcompetitors all ascended the
mountain, Coco and Astrudascended the mountain and we saw
Astrud go home. And it was inthat moment you really saw on
Eva's face. Fuck, I'm goinghome. I'm up against Victoria
right now. There's no way andshe didn't she was right. She
went home, but they went outstrong man like Eva and Astrud

(18:50):
did some really great art thisentire season. I know Astrud
never won a competition, but shestill put out some really great
stuff. And this is definitelynot the last we'll hear of these
two performers. They're bothphenomenal. But we do have our
final three now for Titans.

Lindsey (19:07):
And you know what, let's call it there. We're done.
Yeah. That was the finale. Andoh my god, there were three
winners was fantastic.

Jonathan Correia (19:14):
Well, real quick, before we do go into the
finale, let's talk guest judges,we had Joe Bob Briggs and Harvey
Guillen, which are always fun tosee, fun to have on again, these
are guests that again, I wouldlove to have like an after show
with them. Like just, you know, have the Boulets talk with them
a bit more especially HarveyGuillen, because I don't know a
whole lot about him outside ofhis involvement with what we do

(19:35):
in the shadows. Love to hear.
Yeah, I

Lindsey (19:37):
mean, that would be a really great instance, to have
them on the podcast to chatabout all this stuff. If you're
gonna have them come on theshow. That means that it means
something to them. So why not?
Let's hear more about who thesepeople are that Boulets gonna
bring onto the show.

Jonathan Correia (19:49):
Build it into the production day, an hour at
the end of the day, just sitdown and interview people. Yeah,

Lindsey (19:54):
that'd be definitely interesting hearing that.

Jonathan Correia (19:56):
So

Waylon Jordan (19:58):
then there was

Lindsey (19:59):
no

Waylon Jordan (19:59):
Finale

Jonathan Correia (20:01):
Then like approximately a week after that
episode The finale

Lindsey (20:06):
tragedy struck.

Jonathan Correia (20:08):
I don't know about. I don't know about
tragedy. Let's start from thetop. So we have the top three.
And it's the finale. And thisepisode already started off on a
totally different vibe. Therewas a lot of talk very early in
the episode about how this iskind of like the closing of the
first chapter of, Titanssignifies the closing of one

(20:31):
chapter of Dragula and and so itfelt a little special. The
Fright Feat challenge for thethree was to come on to the
Boulets podcast Creatures of theNight

Waylon Jordan (20:40):
Was it really though. I mean, was that really
a fright feat? We've we've beeneating brains, we have been
digging through guts andeverything else. And now Okay,
we're gonna have a fright featwhere you get to come on the
podcast and talk to us what thehell,

Jonathan Correia (20:55):
which they did previously, but they did one on
one interviews, which I don'tthink they used in the podcast,
just saying that you're bringingthem on to the podcast, but then
we don't hear the things on thepodcast, but they brought all
three at once. So I feel likethe challenge was to see like
how they would handle kind of amedia thing while trying to
share while trying to be seenwhile with others because it was

(21:19):
all three of them at once. Butlike it was just a nice little
interview. You know, there wassome tea spill there was you
know, fun anecdotes,

Waylon Jordan (21:25):
they looked fabulous. I mean, all three of
them looked amazing coming outthere.

Jonathan Correia (21:31):
Coco tweeted afterwards a picture of her from
that said she came dressed fortheir funerals.

Lindsey (21:38):
And she did is suited up

Jonathan Correia (21:40):
dressed to the nines as much of a fright feat.
It's yeah, it's a little bitback to the armwrestling. It's
like, okay, I mean, yeah, kindof,

Lindsey (21:48):
I do see how it's like really good to have that kind of
interview as like a who do wethink will be able to take on
the Dragula lineage? And just togo and talk about Dracula to
more people, that kind of thing.
You know, it's it's all part ofa show and a spectacle and who
can take that on? I see whythat'd be valuable. I don't
think it's right to call it afreight feat. But I mean, I

(22:08):
enjoyed the interview. I thinkthey've done it before where
they've had interviews and itwas it was fine. I really liked
Victoria's interview I was kindof surprised by that I thought
was a really charismatic andreally fun hearing the
conversation. So yeah,

Waylon Jordan (22:22):
again, all of a sudden coming into the last
couple of rounds. SuddenlyVictoria had all of the
personality that Victoria neededin this moment. Yeah, but

Jonathan Correia (22:34):
again, as like the final challenge thing, then
even they changed it up with thefloor show they said that the
floor show had to show off allthe tenants of drag which at
first sounds very exciting. It'sOh shit, they're gonna
incorporate filth horrorglamour, that horror. It's gonna
be great. It's gonna be all thetenants because usually those
final floor shows are so insaneit's like oh shit you really

(22:55):
went for it with the filth ohshit you really went for with
the thing now you have toincorporate all of it. And then
we get to the floor show andit's every other floor show
because that's what the regularfour shows are the regular floor
shows are them doing all thetenants of Dragula off or trying
to do all of them so I think bycombining them again it sounds
exciting on paper but when itgoes into practice it's hard to

(23:18):
execute especially with whatlittle time they have what
little you know prep they getyou know with all of that don't
get me wrong they were all solidperformances but it didn't feel
like a finale performance frommost of them. And again, I'm not
knocking the art I'm notknocking what they did because
they they were all great I'mjust it's the finale you're
expecting something crazy you'reexpecting something big you're

(23:41):
expecting something insane it'shard it's again when you're
first season finale and withMelissa B. Fierce coming down
the runway as a naked bloody nunwith rosary beads up her ass
like you have expectations

Lindsey (23:55):
I really appreciate the craft that went into this last
episode in terms of Coco likemaking those legs for the spider
those were insane and thenVictoria creating an entire
mannequin of herself thatactually looked like herself and
then you had Hoso Make thatthose giant arms off of her
creature they're all very cooland very well made and well

(24:15):
crafted so I really appreciatedseeing the craft of those
features but the performances tome all across the board just
were not there it was more justlike demonstrating the some of
the ascetic I mean Victoria wasdoing a whole thing showing
here's where here's where shecame from and here's where she
is now and here's her presentingherself as is like fully formed
figure and it was likeinteresting but a bit a bit too

(24:36):
self reflective on the nose formy interests and seeing at this
point in time just wasn't reallywhat I want to see from her.
It's not like I want to see herinner fully formed I want to see
where she's gonna go now I wannasee more excitement like is this
the most she can do? Where am Igoing to keep where's she gonna
go from here? But it seemed likeit was more of like a grand tour
of what she's done. Not whereshe had going from here.

Jonathan Correia (24:57):
Coco again took it for me with it. it
because not only did she makethose spider legs but kind of
like what Astrud did with theoctopus and like had getting the
sway of the floor down she wasreally killing it doing the duck
walks as as the spider fun

Lindsey (25:11):
I love that

Jonathan Correia (25:12):
and eating all the people on stage that that
was so fun

Lindsey (25:16):
the way the leg

Waylon Jordan (25:17):
slapping a little ass, you know, just Oh yeah. Oh,
I mean, come on. She did put ona hell of a performance. But the
the energy of the entire episodejust felt really subdued
compared to what we had seen forthe rest of the season. I don't
know. Was that just me? Or wasit like,

Lindsey (25:34):
not just you.
Absolutely.

Waylon Jordan (25:36):
It all just felt really low energy going into
that final show.

Jonathan Correia (25:42):
Even the song choice. I understand. You know,
it's a Boulet Brothers original.
But even like that song, itdidn't feel like a finale song.
If it was an earlier challengething. Awesome. It was very
subdued. It was very it wasn'tthere. It wasn't Time to Die,
you know, which had a bit moreenergy. You know, she's also
just like, a silly song. Iadmittedly like Time to Die.
It's

Lindsey (26:04):
STOP YOU DO NOT we've made fun of that song so much.

Jonathan Correia (26:08):
I know. I know. I know. It's a silly song

Lindsey (26:10):
Its more catchy than that song from last night. Yes,

Jonathan Correia (26:13):
I that's infectious.

Lindsey (26:15):
Yeah, I just really don't understand why Bloulets
have to do everything. You don'thave to be musicians right now
on top of everything, and thenforce them perform to your songs
like I can't imagine likerunning a show, and then being
like, oh, and then everybody'sgonna sing my song and then come
on there and then do that song, which is like not is inherently

(26:37):
not a great song. So I don'tknow why they're trying to make
that part of thing when theyhave so much else going for
them. It just felt extremelyforced when they do things like
this.

Jonathan Correia (26:46):
Well, and that that was kind of one of the
things with this finale episodewas how much of it, I would
understand if it felt morecelibate celebration, and like
extravagant and big ofcelebrating where Dragula has
come from and where it is now.
But the tone didn't feel likethat it did feel more somber and
almost felt like an end end

Lindsey (27:09):
yeah,

Jonathan Correia (27:09):
not and not a happy one. And it was like, we
have to incorporate everything.
We have to incorporate thepodcast, we have to incorporate
the music career, we have toquote, don't forget, after we
reveal the winner, which we'llget to in a second, we have to
spend a minute or two talkingabout the world tour, you know,
and it just kind of felt like Idon't know, it's it felt like
the show was ending. And it waslike, Don't forget these other

(27:31):
things that we do, because AMCis shutting down. You know that
that's kind of it might just bebecause, you know, I'm reading
on the news a bit too much withwhat's happening with AMC
Networks, but it really feltlike oh, don't forget, these are
the things we do just in caseShudder doesn't exist next year.

Waylon Jordan (27:49):
Yeah. And I really hope that's not the case.
I really

Lindsey (27:54):
Shudder is like the best thing going for. Going for
it right now.

Waylon Jordan (27:57):
Exactly.

Lindsey (27:58):
This whole like last season or last episode really
felt like the problem I washaving with a season in total
was the Boulets just had thishand on it the entire time. And
they didn't want us to forgetthat. So anytime that they were
like we're the Boulets, we'regoing to change things up. And
that's just because I would thisis what we want to do going
forward. This is how we're goingto change things. And don't you

(28:18):
forget that we're the ones incharge here. And that's great
that that is their show what'sreally want to do, but it feels
like a little bit too heavyhanded,

Waylon Jordan (28:25):
especially when some of it seems so chaotic. I
mean, like there was no one incharge. Yeah. And and I almost
wonder if that's part of whatwas going on in the last
episode, too, is like, No, we'restill in charge. We're still
ahead of this. You know, eventhough things have been
completely crazy the entire timewe've been doing the season, it
was really weird. And then afterthey all get through performing.

Jonathan Correia (28:50):
We don't see them again.

Waylon Jordan (28:51):
We never seen them again,

Lindsey (28:52):
which is extremely wild. Because most like every
other season, we've at least hadan episode where there was the
last supper where they come andlike talk and dish on the entire
season with all the othercompetitors and kind of just get
things out in the open and talkabout things and see where
they're at or they come back onand have the final like judging
element and then announce whowas the winner. And so but but

(29:15):
this episode, we had none ofthat.

Jonathan Correia (29:17):
No. Instead we're treated to a digital
hallway with everyone'spaintings up and they each get a
little quote

Lindsey (29:24):
everyone from the season. So you saw everybody who
had left and then had a littletiny voice soundbite

Jonathan Correia (29:30):
which at first I was here for because of course
it starts off with Teletubbytoilet bowl Yeah, I was so happy
that toilet bowl got anotheranother shout out but it kept
going and I was like this isthis little weird this

Lindsey (29:44):
is like we should be crowning somebody right now like
what's happening and I wasshe absolutely earned it more
than any but she's come on to

Jonathan Correia (29:47):
like, Oh, this is leading up to the crowning
and then it ends and I gottagive credit to whoever said it
on Twitter. It ends on a JPEGannouncing that Victoria won
the show three times now and asfar as I've been fighting her
which she earned she earned likea motherfucker but That's it. It
just ends on ends on a photo andthen a minute commercial for the
World Tour which don't get mewrong we're getting tickets

(30:07):
ass off to get there and this iswhat we do to celebrate her win
we're going in May but it feltso anti-climatic
there was no celebration here.

Waylon Jordan (30:23):
There was no cele- and that's the thing.
There was no celebration at theend of this it was just over. We
showed her picture we said thatshe was the winner and then it
was over and there was we didn'tget to see was she excited what
did she say? Nothing. I mean, wegot nothing and it really felt

(30:43):
like the Boulets, you know, whatever for the rest of the
season, but they tripped on thefinish line with this one.

Lindsey (30:51):
This one it's kind of a problem that I've had with most
of the finales on the show iswhen you let me I love the blood
being dropped on them that'svery dramatic and very cool when
that happens but then you don'treally get them to say anything
else afterwards it just cuts theblack and goes to credits after
that and I want to have more oflike what are you feeling right
now? Like where do you want togo from here this is so
exciting. I want to hear morefrom you but they never do that

(31:11):
they always cut it off.

Jonathan Correia (31:12):
Disagree, I love that I love that so much

Lindsey (31:17):
like haha fuck you Lindsey you you're not gonna get
anything whatsoever where you'regonna just completely cut to
black without not even givingyou the Carrie moment

Jonathan Correia (31:24):
which I will admit for like the first four
seasons and what they did withResurrection I always loved the
build up build up build up hereit is and done like I've always
loved that when it firsthappened I was just like what it
caught me off guard so much andthen it became such a fun thing
to expect but to see it go somuch further with it. It makes

(31:44):
me go now I don't know how Ifeel about how you have been
ending it Yeah, it's it's roughman. The Twitter responses have
been insane people accusingWorld of Wonder who produces
RuPaul from stealing the footagefrom the finale to what was the
one of the Nathan Fielder onewhere it's like Look what I got
for your dinner? Nothing

Lindsey (32:06):
nothing. Yeah, no Twitter and Reddit and the
Shudder Titans reviews are alljust going nuts for this episode
in a negative way.

Jonathan Correia (32:17):
But it's it's understandable because let's
look back on the season. Let'stalk about the season as a whole
because as a whole. They weren'tjoking when they were going like
this is the Gagula season. Theymight have gone a bit too hard
with it, but it was bigger.
These were some of the bestcompetitors to have ever been on
the show. This was some of thehardest challenges some of the
hardest fright feats for themost part, there was a couple of

(32:37):
weeks where it was like okay,we're just having fun here but
let's not forget that drowningfucking fright feat that was
horrible. And then all of asudden it just kind of ends it
was they were going so hard forso long and it's been an insane
season. And you know, we'vetalked about it before saying
thank you for bringing backearly 2000s reality show level
Yeah, drama and then ratchetnessand then it ends on a JPEG I

(33:00):
can't get that I can't get thatthought on my head. As soon as I
saw that tweet, I was like Idon't I'm sure it wasn't a JPEG
but yeah,

Lindsey (33:09):
could very well have been felt like it. Yeah, I mean,
I did like this season as awhole like I really had a lot of
fun with it. I think I reallyenjoyed the people who were on
it. People were fighting likecrazy to get to the end and it
really showed and there werelike some spectacular players
here. It wasn't my favoriteseason of Dragula. I think
there's been a lot moreinteresting ones I love season

(33:29):
three. I think it's probablybeen one of my favorites. Then
season four is also reallygreat. I mean all of them are
really great. Like I love thoseseasons for all for their very
unique ways. But I think thisone felt a little bit too too
polished in a way that like feltlike I missed some of the older
earlier Dragula that felt a bitscrappy and trying to pull it

(33:50):
together instead of havingactual money where they can make
it shine that kind of miss thegrime mist the

Jonathan Correia (33:56):
punk rock nature of those seasons a bit.
Yeah.

Lindsey (33:59):
And that's what I appreciate about Coco quite a
bit is she really brought punkrock to it in a thing that felt
very not punk rock.

Jonathan Correia (34:05):
Waylon, what were your thoughts, your overall
thoughts on the season,

Waylon Jordan (34:08):
you know, I had a lot of fun and I you know, just
sitting and watching all of thework. I think that's one of the
things that I do love so muchabout drag and one of the things
that I love about shows likethis is that I don't think
people outside of the communityrealize how much work really

(34:30):
goes in to every look to everyou know, this is not just
pulling a wig out of a bag andthrowing it on and that kind of
thing. You know, I love that wegot a lot of that I love that we
saw them really working. I lovedthem having to work together and
work against one another andeverything. I mean it had the
drama it had you know so many ofthe things that you want out of

(34:51):
a show like this, but I reallythink unfortunately that this
season is going to be sort ofjudged by the finale, I think
That's that's a real shame.
Because there was there was somuch that we we saw throughout
the entire season that was justfabulous. I mean, it just the
looks were amazing, the work wasso good. And then to have it

(35:11):
coming down to this, I reallyfeel bad for everybody involved.

Lindsey (35:17):
I feel like if they were actually having problems
with finalizing the show withwhat for whatever reason, they
should have just cut the lastepisode and been honest about
saying we can't provide thelevel of quality we want to do
for the show, we're going toannounce the winner in our tour.
And that's going to we're goingto try to do some sort of like
performance there and have thatbe it something else besides

(35:37):
just letting it fall apart.
Because I also wish they're moreupfront with like the fans and
things with what's going onbecause they're being constantly
questioned about it acrosssocial media, but they're just
kind of turning a blind eye orturning their head to it a
little bit in a way that I justwish it was more focused about
what happened because obviouslysomething went wrong. Like
that's just not the level ofquality we've come to know and
understand from Boulets.

Jonathan Correia (36:00):
It felt like remember at the very beginning
of the pandemic, when there wasa lot of shows that hadn't
finished their seasons yet. Andthen their seasons came out in
those first few months or like

Lindsey (36:11):
yes, it felt like the Coronavirus just started popping
out right then they had to closeit real fast.

Jonathan Correia (36:17):
Yeah, so they couldn't finish like their final
episode or they couldn't finishthe thing. And they would do
like it would either like astoryline just suddenly stops or
like yes, big cut to what was itBlacklist That really bad
animation episode for somereasons. And even higher
animators they hired storyboardbakers for it. That was that was
a that was a weird period oftelevision. But that's kind of

(36:39):
what it felt like somethinghappened. And they had to put
something together.

Lindsey (36:42):
And it was fully digital like that. That's a
really the telltale sign that ithad to be done in post something
had to be fixed. And therewasn't anything else that they
could have done to have actualfootage of it.

Jonathan Correia (36:53):
And I really do hope because I know I know,
Twitter and the internet's andwe are as well are being very
critical of it. But a lot ofwork went into this show so
much. And even this finale I'msure they had so much. It's
insane the amount of man hoursand prep and everything that
goes into doing this both withthe contestants and the crew and

(37:15):
the producers everything. It'sjust insane to think like yeah,
something had to something hadto had happen. I don't know if
this is going to become anotherlike conspiracy is Twitter,
right that it's World of Wonderwent in and ran it ran off with
the footage? I don't Know. Onequestion I have. Do you think
they did? Because of course tieins is kind of you know,

(37:37):
Dracula's All Stars series, right? Do you think they did it
too soon? Does this finale haveyou feeling like maybe you are
doing a an all stars thing a bittoo soon. Or

Lindsey (37:49):
I think it might depend on what they do after this.
Because if they then takeVictoria and do something
interesting with her, I can justI want to see what they do after
the fact because there have beenseveral seasons and several we
want to see back and so I thinkit was a great opportunity to
pull some of those people backand see where they're at now and
how was their skill developed.
And so I think that's reallygreat. And I think calling it

(38:09):
Titans is just is just a goodway of saying these are the
people that we think were doingreally great. They didn't make
it as far as they should have.
Let's see what they can do now.
And I think it's fine to havethis Titans now. There I hope
they have like more Titans arebringing back more people. But I
also want to have opportunitiesI mean Season Five is being
casted right now with all freshnew people. So that's that's

(38:31):
happening. So maybe there'll bemore Titans and I'm not sure
about that. But I do like thatwe had people come back that we
had seen in the past and Iwouldn't want to get to like
season eight or nine and bringback something from season one.
It's it's a bit too far awayfrom that that point several
years between

Jonathan Correia (38:48):
Oh, I'd love that because my thinking with it
is I'd like another season ofTitans. I'd like to wait a
couple seasons. Get a cut getsome more fresh meat in there.
Oh, for sure. And then yeah, areyou kidding me? Of course I want
someone from season one to comeback for Titans. Because I need
Meatball back.

Lindsey (39:06):
Yes meatball come back

Jonathan Correia (39:07):
Meatball needs to be in tight in season two,
and not just because I met herand she's such a nice person.
And so great and so funny. Butalso she's a great competitor.
She was awesome season one. SoI'd love to see what she could
bring with on on a Titans stage.
You know, what about you guys?
Who's someone that you wouldwant to bring back for titan

(39:28):
season two,

Lindsey (39:28):
you should have gave us these questions before we
started recording.

Waylon Jordan (39:32):
I just thought oh, I'm just now I'm just like I
just blanked on everybody who'sbeen on the show.

Jonathan Correia (39:39):
That wasn't on Titans

Lindsey (39:40):
Right everybody it's all gone. I want to see Eva
again. She's already on seasontwo because I feel like for the
people that we I would thinkabout that also with like Hoso
like we've seen her do so wellthe last two seasons. Is that it
for her so for Dragula likeshe's got gonna be on tour?

(40:01):
Because she made the finalthree? But like, will she be
able to ever compete again tohave a title? Like Victoria was
able to go three times? Willthere be more opportunities for
that in that way? Like, whoknows? Like what's gonna, what's
gonna happen there? Eva, someoneI don't want to see fall into
the mist.

Jonathan Correia (40:17):
I mean, if if it's been a couple of years, I'd
like to see Sigourney come back.
I think Sigourney. Absolutely. Ithink if Sigourney Beaver, you
know, really, if something may.
One of the factors is also ishow much has this competitor
changed since then? You know, because a lot of the competitors
that we had on Titans, their arthas changed quite a bit. It's
also why Dolhi was brought backSeason Four was because her art

(40:41):
changed immensely. And so shewas like a completely different
competitor. And that was thesame for a lot of these
competitors on this season. EvenErica, you know, our little
Candy Crush came she upped hergame immensely and she adapted
her art since her season. So Ithink that's a huge factor. And
I don't know how on speed I havebeen with a lot of these

(41:04):
competitors post season butPriscilla Chambers is definitely
one I'd like to see again.

Lindsey (41:08):
I know who I want to see back and it was surprised
that like, I wish that she couldhave been here for this one I
think she could have made it wasLa Zavaleta

Jonathan Correia (41:16):
La Zavaleta

Lindsey (41:17):
From season four I hated her first couple of
episodes. Oh my god, but sheimmediately flipped and was one
of my favorites through all ofseason four. I loved her so
much.

Jonathan Correia (41:29):
Could you imagine Zavaleta in the middle
of this fucking drama, oh mygod, that bitch would have I
don't know if there would havebeen drama because I think
Zavaleta What did you just likescreamed at everybody She would
just be like, no motherfucker.
I'm the drama Yeah, yes. I loveLa Zavaleta.

Lindsey (41:49):
Also want to see more Priscilla Chambers. Want to see
her come back. I know she shewas in two seasons now.

Jonathan Correia (41:57):
She had her season and Resurrections. I feel
like

Lindsey (41:59):
she could have been a Titan.

Waylon Jordan (42:00):
I'd love to see Kendra come back and take
another shot at it.

Lindsey (42:05):
Kendra I feel like I really do also. I don't know I
just have so much heart for her.

Waylon Jordan (42:11):
I do and and she was a lot of fun this season but
she just she never could getquite together and I think she's
still growing as an artist and Iwould love to see her come back.

Lindsey (42:21):
Yeah. And then of course another person we would
love to see come back maybe notfor her looks. I'm not sure I
liked her loves her performanceis great. But Disasterina.

Jonathan Correia (42:33):
Oh, bitch

Lindsey (42:34):
Quite icon. We're kind of running low on Disasterina
pullquote. So we can use so weneed to have more of those.
Well, we

Jonathan Correia (42:42):
saw her live at some Midsummer Scream where
she did her performance to herKrampus, Krampuss song, which
was incredible. As always, I'dlove to see Louisiana Purchase
come back.

Lindsey (42:54):
Oh, yes. Louisiana for sure.

Jonathan Correia (42:57):
She became a drag mother towards the end of
her season to Priscilla and Ithink that would be great seeing
mom and daughter go against eachother.

Lindsey (43:03):
I think that's cute.
And I like that

Jonathan Correia (43:05):
I always liked Louisiana Purchase. I always
admired her drag. And I got tosee her perform during the
pandemic with an AlamoDrafthouse Present streaming
presentation with what was itthe documentary about the Church
of Satan. That was real fun. Themovie sucked, but her
performance was great.

Lindsey (43:26):
There's a lot of great people in the past few seasons
that I would love to see backagain. But I also would like to
see more from maybe even thewinners of past seasons. like
it'd be interesting to see likea showdown between all the
winners of Dragula and see andso you can come out on top and
that way, little March madnessgoing on?

Jonathan Correia (43:46):
Well, I think with that we would need to get
to at least season 10. Like Ithink that's like season 11-12
Because you need 10 contestants, right? And it's like, who's the
ultimate drag monster we'rebringing everyone back?

Lindsey (43:58):
I mean, it could be a completely different format
doesn't have to follow the sameformat. But like who like what
are some great things we can seecoming from his people? I kind
of just haven't really knownthat what they've been doing
maybe because there's haven'tbeen following them. Is it
mostly just following along withBoulets how they've been like,
have their own drag experiencesblown up exponentially other
other places? Like I'm curiousto know what they experienced

(44:19):
now that they've won Dragula?

Waylon Jordan (44:20):
Yeah. What do you do after the tour ends?

Lindsey (44:23):
Yeah, yeah, it's great to see Saint back on the series,
though, or the season as ajudge, and also Dalhia.

Jonathan Correia (44:28):
I've seen contestants pop up in various
things, you know, Bitch Puddingperforms pretty regularly also
was in Disasterinas web show fora while after season two, which
was I mean, it's Disasterinasweb show. What do you there's
not a lot you can expect, but healso can expect, you know, and
then everyone, you know, hastheir local haunts and whatnot.

(44:49):
So I mean, there's also otherlive competitions too, because
remember, Dragula wasn't alwaysa reality show. It was just a it
was a competition and I thinkthey made mention of it in
previous Seasons I think it wasAstrud or someone won a in
person Dragula competition. So Ithink that's, you know, ways of
finding people and finding whatthey're doing with their with

(45:09):
their art. All I have to say isfinal thoughts is that final
episode was a bit disappointing.
There were some really greatmoments in it though the
interviews were a lot of fun. Itwas great seeing everyone's
personality coming out whetherit was the first time or the
millionth time hearing fromeverybody their final looks,
were all just fantastic. And I'mreally excited for the future.

(45:31):
Because I mean, it's what agreat time to be living where
there's like, 20 Goddamn dragshows. On TV right now. I just
started watching Trixie Motel, and you want to talk about heavy
hand of like reality showproducer hands in there. My God.
Love you Trixie. Love the show.
But damn, does it feel like aDiscovery Channel reality show.

Waylon Jordan (45:53):
I mean, do you guys deal what We're Here on
HBO?

Lindsey (45:58):
We do. Yeah, God,

Waylon Jordan (46:00):
I just weep every week and every new episode, like
whoever came up with this showand decided to put Shangela, who
is probably about 45 minutes forme right now, because she's from
Paris, Texas, and I'm incommerce, and she's home for
Christmas. And you don't think Ihaven't thought about going and
driving around Paris, just tosee if I can find Shangela if it

(46:23):
was not so cold outside. That'sall I want to say. Shangela, and
Bob and Eureka. And I just lovethem. I love that show. And
there is so much drag on TVright now. I love that I love
that this in the midst ofeverything that is going on in
this country with so much of thealt-right and the shit that
they're pulling, you know, showing up with guns to protest

(46:45):
a drag queen story hour andthings like that, to see all of
this positive reference to seeall of this positive positive
outlook for drag on television.
I love it. I love seeing all ofit right now.

Jonathan Correia (47:00):
And various forms of it too. It's not just
one, right. And it's not justone kind of entertainment or art
because we have just evenbetween the examples that we
listed just now we have Dragula, which is awesome with it, the
horror and the alternative drag.
I'm so thankful that that sideof things is being shown. But
then you also have, you know, ofcourse, RuPaul, and like the 20
spin offs of drag race you haveWe're Here you have Trixie Motel

(47:24):
those are all different forms oftelevision that feature drag

Lindsey (47:31):
and appeals to different audiences.

Jonathan Correia (47:33):
Yeah, they appeal to different audiences.
They tell different stories butand they tell them in different
formats. They they get into thenitty gritty on so many
different aspects. It's it'sjust so great. The wealth of
knowledge that's getting outthere through the form of
reality show TV entertainment isis really awesome because we are
seatback can help change mindsthat can help expose people to

(47:57):
lifestyles that aren't theirown. I mean, it's fantastic.
Yeah, if you don't want to watcha hotel, get remodel. Cool. You
have another show to watch. Orif you want to watch something
that will make you cry cool. Youcan watch We're Here. And if you
just want to see some messybitches, put on fucking
fantastic performances that justhappen to incorporate a lot of
skin and blood and camp. We gotDragula baby.

Lindsey (48:20):
We got Dracula, and I love Dragula. More Dragula
please.

Jonathan Correia (48:25):
I really do hope that the creators and
makers of Dragula take thecritiques and you know, the
feedback from the finale thatpeople have been very open to
express. Very, very open toexpress. And they and they take
that with stride and they takethat as Okay, well, let's not do
that again. And they go forthand do more. I don't know if

(48:48):
they have to go bigger. I don'tknow if they have to go smaller.
I don't know what they need todo. All I know is they need to
just keep going. Because I loveit. It's great. I'm so excited
to see what they do next. Andyes, I do like Time to Die. Fuck
off. It's catchy. Not saying,not saying a it's a great song.
I'm just saying like I dooccasionally hum it every now
and then.
