(01:09):
But we've also got some topics, don't we, mister Joe Rico.
We got prospects, we got stuff. How you doing, Buddy?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Doing very well? Man.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I think the baseball gods have been on our side recently,
because every Monday, it seems like we've got something. In
the last few weeks, Roman Anthony, the Drafael Devers trade,
and now we have another top prospect coming up, not
the one I think we were expecting to see first necessarily,
but a great pitching prospect going to be debuting this week.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, and that's kind of how we're going to start
out the show. Chase Burn's going to be making his
major league debut on Tuesday. And I have come the
thing that has come with Chase Burns has come the
full revelation. I said this on leading off. I actually
said this on ITL. I have come full circle. And
it's it's an l of the circle for me that
(01:57):
you can all these moves you can make at the
expense of Bubba Chandler at this point, because you were
alluding to the guy that we didn't expect. We've been
expecting Bubba Chandler week in and week out, and we've
had questions week in and week out, not just is
Bubba Chandler gonna come up, but would you drop Chandler
for dot dot dot? Last week that ended up being
(02:17):
like would you or maybe the week before, would you
drop Bubba Chandler for Jacob Mizerowski. And that's where like
maybe even you you might have been a little bit
more staunch about it like that you would. I've been
really on the fence because it's like, man, you've you
held on so long and I don't know, and you know,
you're talking about guys that have some questionable like long
term sustainability. But then like Miserowski comes out, throws over
(02:39):
two starts, eleven no hit innings and just has a
great in his second start. He's awesome. And then you've
got Chase Burns coming up. But they gave very little time.
They want to win, they're committed to that. Chase Burns
has maybe been the best pitching prospect in all the
baseball from a performance standpoint this year. And the third
piece of it, Joe, is that Bubba Chandler has stunk.
(03:00):
He has not gone three innings in three of his
last four starts in June, he has a ten era
in June. He's failing to go deep. He's still walking guys.
The command and inconsistency is all over the board, and
the pirates also stink. They stink, so why would they
press this up. He's got to prove a little bit more.
(03:22):
This isn't just like, oh, you know, Triple A kind
of got to him. So the question would you drop Bubba?
Would you drop Bubba Chandler for Chase Burns has been yes.
So I don't want to make this so much about
Bubba Chandler, But if I remember correctly the last couple
of weeks, you've been on the fence about that, I
think it's kind of a resounding. We would drop Bubba
Chandler for Misarowski Burns. We would drop Bubba Chandler for
(03:45):
guys like Jose Soriano, and that's, you know, with our luck,
Bubba Chandler get called up tomorrow, but he's stunk and
we can kind of move on.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I am kind of torn on this a little bit
because you know, the theory that I've seen some people
throw around recently is that Bubba's just kind of hit
the Wall just because he is a little bit frustrated
about not being called up.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
He has nothing else to.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Really pitch for in the minor leagues, and I think
I've seen some people suggest that maybe he's just, you know,
not really excited to be pitching in Triple A anymore.
So it's maybe not that he's not giving his best effort,
but there might be something mental.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Going on there as well. I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Like, if Bubba got called up, I think he'd still
be a huge priority. Like let's say we heard that
Bubba got called up tomorrow. Would it change your opinion
on him versus Burns at all?
Speaker 1 (04:30):
No, No, it wouldn't. That's the other thing, Like I
get what you're saying, but I don't buy it as valid, Like, oh,
you're kind of bored and you don't like it will
still be good. Like to me, bored is you go
five innings, maybe you walk a couple guys, you give
up a couple earn runs. It's not that you go
two and two thirds of an inning. You don't you
(04:52):
fail to get to the third and three of the
four starts. That's not bored or not being challenged. And
it's very reminiscent of every bud He's questioned today and
over the weekend has been other Rutchman's on the io
Samuel Bosio time. No, it's not, and this is coming
from their coaching staff where they literally were asked, I'm
(05:12):
forgetting the guy's name now completely forgetting the name. That
they're like, is Besaio an option? And they said, we've
heard this, but no, what we want out of him
is to be dominant on all facets of the field,
and he hasn't even been a thought to them. And
I'm translating that to Bubba that I think it's kind
of the same thing. I think they want Bubba to.
(05:35):
Maybe in the very beginning of the year he did
kind of reach that and they missed an opportunity. But
then he's faded. What is he accomplishing right now? He's
not getting outs, he's not going deep into games, he's
not not walking players. You're not doing anything that's not bored.
That is a systemic problem. And maybe the pirates knew
that the whole time. Maybe it got activated in this
(05:57):
game of manipulation. I don't know what it is, but no,
Bubba Chandler doesn't look good right now I wouldn't feel
good after him. Like again, he's a ten era in June.
He's not gone. He's gone to the third inning once
in four starts. That's not going to make me feel
good about throwing him to the majors Right now, he
can get a little fastball slidery. So no, he's behind Misowski,
(06:19):
he's behind Chase Burns. It does not change if you
have the ability to hold him like sure, but it
has been at the expense of a lot of good stuff,
and unfortunately it was wrong. And I legitimately do not
think we now see Bubba Chandler until August, based on
what we're doing, based on futures game and the break
in between and him being behind and the walks and
(06:41):
this team sucking, and frankly, I think the best thing
they could do at this point is wait until September
so he doesn't lose prospect eligibility or graduation, and then
have him be in the rotation at the start of
next year so they can compete for a PPI first
round pick the following season, because what else are they
accomplishing when he has stunk so bad?
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Yeah, I think you're probably correct there. I wonder if
something would change if you got called up. But I
think to your point as well, they're not going to
be in a huge hurry at this point. There're seventeen
games under five hundred. You know, I can't remember exactly
where they were in the standings when Skeins got called up,
But Skeens didn't have any of those real struggles at
Triple A, so it's a little bit of a different situation.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
So I think I'm probably with you.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
There is there anybody else you think that warrant, like
if you have one of those minor league stash spots,
like who would be the top stash at this point
if not Bubba?
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Still so uh And and I know we got a
hand raised in the queue and a couple questions we're
gonna hit in a second. It's a great question. We
did the prospect segment today. I almost wanted to kill
the prospect segment today and maybe for a couple of
weeks because A I think we're in a really bad
time leading up to the All Star break, but B
I think the majority of the guys are up. I
(07:53):
think the guy when you talk about stash, the words stashing,
it's specific. Sometimes we in those videos about here guys
to pay attention to, and Da da da. But the
degrees of what's worth stashing is not equated equally. And
we've gotten so many of the guys that have been
interesting and so many of the big players. There's only
(08:15):
one player to me outside of it, okay two, if
you want to count Bubba into that. The only other
one that's really worth stashing is Andrew Painter, and I
think I would take Painter over Bubba right now. Painter
has had thirty almost forty innings in Triple A. It's
been a little bit of a waffy start, but he's
got a great four pitch arsenal. I've seen him in play.
(08:37):
He's a major league pitcher. But there's nobody out. The
closest next is Bryce Eldridge as a hitter. And then
you're talking about a crew of players that aren't stash worthy.
Then you're talking about Chase the latter, who is not
worth stashing, but if he gets called up, he probably
would be worth picking up. So the idea of stashing
(08:57):
is pretty far gone. I'm not advocating to just dump
Bubba Chanler for no reason, but if he's taking up
a bench spot, right now, I would rather that bench
spot go to Andrew Painter, or I'd rather go to
another guy, because I'm really concerned about what this is
and maybe this will be the fire at the end
of the day to light it up. But I'm I'm
kind of out, I'm kind of out on one waiting
(09:17):
for this right now. And there's always a rookiear two
that does this to us. You know, Hell, Jenna Camenarow
did this in the first half last year. It took
him forever to come up, and we're like, he's coming,
He's coming. It just always happens, and it happened to
be Bubba. This got turned into more of a Bubba
thing real quick. Before we turn the subject here, let's
do a prediction on Chase Burns's line. This is actually
a tough matchup against the Yankees. It is at home
(09:39):
in Cincinnati, but you got the Yankees here. Prediction on
the line, and do you think Chase Burns is a
season stashable guy, Like, do you think this is going
to be short lived if like Hunter Green comes back,
or do you think this move keeps him in the
rotation for the majority of the season. Obviously, unless he
like implodes.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, a lot of.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
It will be performance based, but I think that he
is probably fairly safe. I wonder what the leash is
going to be on Brady Singer because he hasn't really
been good outside of the early part of the season,
and also Nick Martinez. They started using him in relief
the last couple of outings because he's been pretty poor
as well. So I think there is an avenue for
him to stay in the rotation going forward. In terms
(10:19):
of a line prediction, I don't know if they've said
anything about a particular pitch count, but I'd imagine this
is probably something like four innings, six strikeouts, a couple
of walks, two or three earned runs, something like that.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
We're pretty close. Yeah, I haven't heard anything of like
what the pitch count is going to be. I feel
like it's going to be in the eighty five pitch range,
maybe ninety. I'm gonna go five innings, I'm gonna go
six strikeouts. I'm gonna say three earned runs, one homer.
He's going to give up. But you know, we're closing
in on that quality start territory. I think he belongs
in the same discussion as Jacob Misarowski, as does Painter.
(10:57):
Nobody else really outside of Bobba. Nobody else really did
do in that discussion, and that's why it's kind of
the dog days of prospects. You know, they're like, there's
no double A guy that looks like they're gonna happen.
All the triple A guys are kind of up, so
the stashing market is pretty low. But that also all
of this to be said. To wrap that up, that
might be why if you have the ability to hold
(11:19):
onto bubb but it might be worth it because there
will when he is called up, there will be a
fight for it. It's just I think it's going to
be quieter and I'm probably gonna be a little bit
more picky about what that first start looks like. But
I truly do think it's going to be a while,
and I think Jase Burns is going to have not
a Miserowski like five innings, no hit type of line.
I think it's a tough Yankees team, but I think
(11:40):
you're going to see some pretty decent success with his
pitch arsenal very early on. So be careful, though, be
careful about starting him against the Yankees in general. That's
kind of scary again. Friends, You guys can come and
check us out at Fantasypros dot Com slash chat completely
brain farted there to come and hang out Mondays five
pm for this live show that we do every single
(12:02):
week that you guys can come and hang with us,
hang with the rest of the crew, hang with the
rest of the people, join up all the rooms Fantasypros
dot Com, slash Chat. We would love to have you all. Right,
let's get to some of the questions. I think we
lost our hands here, but let's start with solely NRFI
the NURFE. Do we like Cam Smith or Addison Barger?
(12:23):
Rest of season? Cam Smith moving up in the order.
He's been on an ice little hot streak. Barger has
been pretty ridiculous. This is gonna be a tough one
for you, Joey. But what do you think Barger or
Cam Smith?
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I think they're both super super viable just because of
how bad third base is. If I had to just
pick one, I'd probably go with Barger. And the main
reason is that he has already gone through his initial
struggle phase at the major league level.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
He was up last year. He was terrible.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
He was awful last season, had to go back down
work on a few things, and now he is seems
to have hit his stride, where with Cam Smith there
have been a few ups and downs, but I don't
know if he's really necessarily hit that wall that I
expect a lot of rookies to hit at some point
go through some struggles, not necessarily like Christian Campbell level
where they have to get sent down, but I expect that.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Smith will eventually stumble a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
He's striking out still a little bit too much for
my liking twenty seven percent. It's not terrible for a rookie,
but I just think that Barger is a little bit
more polished at this point.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Well, Cam Smith did go through it, dude. I mean
he hit won twenty five in March to twenty four
in April, so he was walking into May as a
sub to twenty hitter and questions about him being sent down,
and then he picked it up and he hit three
oh seven in May and two seventy five in June.
But I mean he literally even if he account March,
he had two twenty four in April.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Yeah, he was a ninety five WRC plus at March.
In April, so he was like a little bit below average,
but it wasn't like startlingly bad.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
He was okay.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
The batting average is not great, but I think overall
it was still not a bad offensive out, but he
was still walking. He definitely picked it up in May,
won thirty WRC plus one eleven in June. But I
just feel like there is a point for just about
every single rookie where they will go through their one
for twenty five phase or something like that, and I
just feel like Barger's kind of put that behind him.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I think it's very close. I think it's very close.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Both of the lineups are about equal in terms of
the overall output, I think, but I would.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Just slightly lean towards Barger. It's yeah, very close.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Though by the way, I'm agreeing with you. My choice
is Barger here, but I just disagree with like the
cam Smith hasn't gone through it like Cam Smith did
go through it one hundred percent, went through it and
he got out of it. But does that mean there's
not another one coming there? Definitely could be. I think
this is very close. It's the hitting profile of Barger,
and then maybe like to your point, like Barger hasn't
(14:41):
really gone through it. But if you're banking on the profile,
fourteen percent barrel over fifty percent hard hit rate. He's
lowered to strikeouts over last year, which is really great.
You know, he's getting the ball in the air, he's
pulling the ball a ton more. I very much like
what Barger's doing. There's a little bit more stolen base
equity in Cam Smith. I think it's very, very close,
(15:02):
and Cam Smith belongs in the discussion, but I would
go Barger with you. And then Sully had asked, would
you drop Josh Smith for Barger? Yes, I think we
both agree.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Right, Yeah, Josh Smith has been so good and he's
eligible everywhere, and he's just he's really a solid, well
rounded guy.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
But I think you'd have to go with Barger there.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I completely agree. All right, always over, invite, always over on.
That's where the hand was on the podcast. Maybe what's up?
Always over?
Speaker 2 (15:30):
What's that? Man?
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Keep going a little bit louder.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
We got you all right?
Speaker 2 (15:36):
What're about now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah, we're good. We're good.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Okay. So I just have a question because like I'm
in a Yahoo Fantacy league and I'm stuck with Goldschmidt,
Nick Kuragey, Christian Walker, and I really need some more pictures.
It's kind of a you know, could I should I
drop Walker?
Speaker 2 (15:55):
So I've tried.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Trading them from almost anybody within reasonable and no by.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
You trying to get your mouth close to the phone,
it's breaking up a little bit. Or wherever you're talking,
can you hear me better?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Now?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Oh buddy, now you're now you're on the podcast? Yes, absolutely,
so you you you got the three first basement we
heard you're looking at pitching and you're looking at dropping Walker.
What are the decisions or choices.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Like who to add?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Is that way? Do you have any names against? Or
is that the question should you drop Walker for?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:30):
So, I mean like it's it's really just gold Schmid,
Nick Kurtz or Walker? You know Jacob? Was it Jacob
Blowpez the athletics picture? I really like him, he's looking good?
Or should it just like hold on his hand?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
What is man?
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, twelve man? Okay, even better? I would It's a
good it's a great question. The first part of the
question most important thing. Can you cut bait on Christian Walker?
If you have Goldie and Nick Kurtz. Yeah. I think
a general question at this point is I don't trust
Why do I trust Walker anymore? If you have needs
(17:07):
in other spots. I don't think the pitching sounds like
it's super awesome, But like I would go emmage in
over Jacob Lopez, and I would cut Christian Walker for
some stream of able type of pitchers I had saw
that he had also put in the chat, like lower
Jacob Lopez. I'm not sure who. I'm guessing that's Edward Cabrera.
(17:28):
Would you cut Christian Walker for any of those guys, Joe, I.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Don't think you really need him necessarily now.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
One thing I will say about Christian Walker is that
there are still a lot of things I'd like in
his profile.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
He's still got a good launching.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
It still hits the ball hard twelve percent barrel forty
six percent hard hit rate. You know, he's underperforming a
lot of his expected numbers. I think he will turn
it around. But considering your first base situation, he is
probably the most viable drop there. I just none of
those names that you mentioned are terribly exciting in a
Yahoo unless it's a deeper roster, like unless your commissioner
added pitcher spots. G N can be dropped. Lopez is
(18:02):
probably ring in that sense, and I think the same
thing for Cabrera. They're more so streaming types than must
roster players. I agree that at Walker is probably the
drop there, but I you know, are there any other
names on that waiver wire? Because none of those guys
are really exciting to me.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
I agree with that.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I think if I were to do any maybe it's
Walker for Cabrera, but I think he's a little bit
more streamy. Let me present this to you, then he's
I think he's had said in the beginning, like Paul Goldschmidt,
he's not getting any any bites. Would you put Nick
Kurts out there? Is he? You know everyone's talking about
Kurds the nine homers in fifteen days. He's hot if
(18:39):
you think Christian Walker can bounce back, And I do agree,
the profile looks That's been my struggle with him all
season long, is the profile just looks the same as
it always does. I mean, he is striking out a
tiny bit more, but everything from expected batting average to
barrel and I'm getting frustrated because it's like two plus
months of this. What are we supposed to do, but
(18:59):
it does look like it's starting to kind of click back.
If you believed in Christian Walker, do you think it's
a better move to trade Nick Kurts He's probably the
hottest of name value in there for an.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
SP Yeah, I don't mind it.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Like I think that you could probably do pretty well
for Nick Kurtz, depending on you know, if you kick
the tires around enough in your league, you could probably
do pretty well on him.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Just worry a little.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Bit, like if you trade Kurtz and then if Walker
just happens to not turn it around. Let's say he's
kind of hit the wall and he just he is
what he is at this point, which I still think
there's a chance he turns it around, but for argument's sake,
let's say he doesn't and you're stuck with Walker and
gold Schmidt. And gold Schmid has entered into what looks
to be a pretty legitimate short side platoon there with
Ben Rice at first base. He's been sitting against right
(19:43):
handed pitching over the last week, so he's been really good.
But if he's not going to play and you're stuck
with Goldschmid and Walker, that might put you in a
bit of a pickle at first base if Walker or
Goldschmidt doesn't, you know, pick things back up again, and
they're both kind of old to expect a lot out
of at this point.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Point always raise the hand again. Was there a follow
up to that?
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I don't. Did y'all hear the pictures?
Speaker 2 (20:03):
I was listening.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Uh no, well you you wrote like lower Edward Cabrera
and then what are the options any others?
Speaker 4 (20:11):
So, like I said, I don't know if you heard
it was on the phone. I can't really want to speaker.
But Gildo Morton, Jeffrey Springs, Sevarino, you know.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Co Walker for Gilito right now. Geildo has been dicey,
but three straight really good starts. He figured out this
and thank you for the question. By the way, they'd
figured out rotationally, like where his release point was was
a problem they with the four seam, and then once
they fixed that, you saw the velo come up a
(20:45):
mile prour and he's had good success. I would dump
Walker for Gilito outside of exploring a potential. Nick Kurtz
higher named Pitcher, but you're probably not going to get
the value of it. Would you drop Walker for you?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
I think of the names listed.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Just looking at it, I think I might go with
Eric Lauer just as a streamer for this week. He's
got two starts, the first one against Cleveland, who have
been awful, second worst offense in June behind the Pirates,
and then on the weekend he gets to face the
Red Sox, who just lost the rather significant piece of
their lineup as well. So and Lower has been pitching
really well this year, so I think I may for
the time being, if you can't pull off a trade,
(21:24):
I might use that as a streaming spot and pick
up the two step for lour.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
There you go, good good stuff there, love it, Ay,
it's our it's our boy. Mctunda mcdundah, what's up brother

Speaker 2 (22:21):
What up? Hey, how's it going? I'm in a ten
team head to head league?
Speaker 1 (22:27):
There? Do I continue to just keep rolling Austin Riley?
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Or I have Nolan Ronado as well as well too,
so do I just stick with kind of?
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Ronado has been kind of more consistent, as.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
In like you're benching Riley for Aeronaudo or what? Yeah, okay, Well,
I mean Riley's hitting two seventy two on the season,
He's got twelve homers. He's hitting two sixty three this month.
He's not like he doesn't look like the second ish
round pick, but he's got a higher average and he
had last year. He looks like he's pacing out full
(23:02):
season stat wise to at least still be a twenty
five homer guy if he doesn't jump into it profile
like we talked about with Walker kind of looks the
same outstead of a few more strikeouts. I'm pretty big
team Austin Riley still, if you, I guess, if you
wanted to play matchups, I'm not super excited about Nolan
Aernatto regardless, But Arico, what do you think? Are you
(23:23):
still comfortable with are you do you have any worries
about Riley? I guess.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Really, I mean, looking at the last month, over the
last thirty days, Riley's hitting two seventy one he scored
twenty one runs, four homers, and in the same time
period Aeronato hitting two fifty five five homers. It's not
too far off in terms of the stat line. But
I think I do trust Riley more. If you wanted
to play, you know, day to day, week to week matchups,
I guess that would be okay. But I definitely have
a lot more confidence in Riley going forward. This week,
(23:51):
the Cardinals are facing the Cubs and then Cleveland, so
there's some decent pitching matchups mixed in there, and then
Atlanta's got the Mets with Burn Mantas Holmes canning, and
then they're facing the Phillies later in the week. A
couple of lefties in there as well, so i'd probably
start Riley this week.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Still.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Honestly, yeah, I think I kind of agree. I'm just
I'm there. That's that's what I'm doing with Austin Riley.
I'm holding tight. You want to play any pitching matchups,
you can. But I think this is like the third
Austin rally thing I've seen as a recent I kind
of think Austin Riley might be a bye. You know,
if you're having the question and a couple other people
are having the question, I think from a market standpoint
(24:30):
out there, maybe you can go and look around at
Austin Riley owners. I mean, Ronald Acunya, the tide lifts
all ships?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Is that right? Is that?
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Roughly? Cising boats say.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
It something like that, A rising tide lifts all boats.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
I think, yeah, you're wrong. That's going to get me
to do a Welsh.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah that thing right there. I think Ronald Acunya makes
everybody else just a little bit better. Uh it's yeah,
close enough, but not quite Elshism. Mctnda's I almost had it,
so it doesn't quite fly. I'll tell you guys of
this right now. This is an Easter egg for this show.
If you want to watch Joe Pisipia laugh, ask him
(25:15):
about I did a welshism in a meeting last week
that almost put him on the floor, and hindsight, when
I think back on it, it's it was really bad.
It was a really bad one. I'm not gonna say
it here. I'm shocked that Joe never brought it up
up the next day. Maybe thinks I would have been
(25:36):
annoy I really don't care, but I did one. It
was It's a popular saying and Mayor and him both
started dying. Mayor had to say something about it. Joe
lost it and never said anything about it. We haven't
talked about it since. It's probably from a from a
me getting saying's wrong standpoint top five. It's fantastic. So yeah,
(26:01):
if you guys can get it out of Joe Piezapia
on leading off, there's your Easter egg to do that,
because I'm shocked he never brought it up, but that
was pretty close to him.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
I'll do that on Thursday. We'll try.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Oh I forgot yeah when I'm not here, great, thank you. Yeah,
if it doesn't happen sooner, all right, let's get to
some other questions that were in the chat. Here. Now
the big dance is O'Neil Cruz a fair trade offer? Oh,
for Austin Riley? Look at that, it's a ten team
Rodo keeper. So I guess I can't. I guess he's
offering O'Neill Cruz to get Austin Riley. I'm still weirdly
(26:36):
very much about O'Neal Cruise, even though the batting average
has just struggled this year to eleven. God, his counting
stats are so loud. His XBA is like twenty five
points higher. The strikeouts are really killing me because guys,
every other category, for the most part, is so much higher.
(26:57):
Barrel ridiculous, twenty three percent at average, xivelocity best in
the league, max ex velocity best in the league, Wolbacon
one of the best in the league, hard hit best
in the league, fourteen percent walker. He is so ridiculous
on that, but he's striking out like crazy and really
struggling with batting average. I gotta be honest with you,
(27:20):
I probably still prefer O'Neal Cruz, which leads to me saying, yeah,
it's a fair trade. Cruises really struggle from a batting
average standpoint Riley. What you consider a Riley season is
like a two eighty thirty homers, ninety five ninety five.
So if that's what you want, I think that's fair.
Oneal Cruz has a little bit of like it could
(27:43):
be anything. It could be two twenty with twenty homers
and forty stolen bases, or it could be two seventy
with thirty homers and sixty stolen bases, or it could
fall apart. I just I prefer the upside and volatility
of Cruise over Riley. But I think it's pretty fair.
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Yeah, I'm just looking at a couple of different dynasty lists,
like our consensus dynasty rankings. It's Cruz twenty six, Riley
twenty eight. Another really prominent member of the industry has
Cruise at twenty six and Riley at thirty one. This
feels fairly even to me. I don't have a huge
problem going either way on it.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
I do to This is a great question that uh
pig Bird pig Bird jet fan who says it came
from football, But you asked what pitcher had the best
fantasy season ever. It's a great question. I'm trying to
look this up to see if I can find.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
It well, to give me a second.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Yeah, well, I'm looking this. Well, here's one thing. Is
this like I seeing guys from like best Fantasy. This
is from like the nineteen oh eight that doesn't count here,
I'm trying to see if they can give me any
other players who comes to mind just real quick while
I'm looking this up.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
And let's still like.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Those thirty years by the way, because like just for reference,
someone's this article is like Christy Matthewson in nineteen oh eight,
Like nobody cares about that. The old the most recent
pitchers were Eric Ganie and Sandy Kofax. Like, let's think
of the next the last like thirty years.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Eric ganye, wow, as a reliever, I'm surprised. So I'm
looking at the ras ball has a historical player Raider,
and according to them, the greatest season ever by a
starting pitcher was nineteen ninety nine Pedro Martinez thirteen and
a third two hundred and thirteen and a third innings,
twenty three wins, two oh seven ERA point nine to
(29:41):
two whip, three hundred and thirteen strikeouts in the height
of the steroid in the height of the steroid era,
And actually number two is also from the same season,
Randy Johnson ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Randy Johnson with your boys out there in the desert?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
How uh.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (29:56):
How far back is this tracked?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Goes back to nineteen oh three?
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Okay, so here's where I get a little bit lost.
I'm not surprised people don't realize how great Pedro was.
That three hundred strikeout season is ridiculous. If I'm thinking
top five, I feel like Nolan Ryan would be three
of the top five. Am I wrong? Is he in
one of the top five seasons in strikeouts alone?
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Maybe it was a ratio thing. I'm scrolling the highest
rated season. They have him as the forty third best
pitching season of all time nineteen seventy three.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
What did he do?
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Three hundred and twenty six innings? He had twenty one
wins to eighty seven ERA, three hundred and eighty three strikeout.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
No, here's hold him back? How is hold him? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:43):
How is that the forty third best season?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
One twenty three whip? I think that's what did him in.
No way.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
I almost cursed. You almost made me curse there for
I woul show we were on almost four hundred strikeouts,
thirteen innings and twenty plus wins. Is the forty third
best pitching fantasy season ever.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
I mean, when you're going they're just drawing from such
a big sample size, right, Like there's guys going back
to what's the earliest.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Like the math year is that Roto points this.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Is four five by five standard Roto.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I don't understand anything. Then that's that was roughly. I mean,
you have to resay it because I could be wrong.
That was more strikeouts. There were almost as many wins
right as the Pedros was in.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
It was a two eighty seven era, so the era
difference is almost a.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Run, okay a little bit the whip.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
The whip is a difference of one twenty three to
zero point ninety two, So that that's kind of sure.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
That's dramatic. But what were the strikeouts and win differential?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
So three eighty three for Nolan in terms of strikeouts
and it was three thirteen for Pedro, and Pedro edged him.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Out by two wins twenty three to twenty one.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
I just like what I want to see that in
a points perspective, that's like seventy more strikeouts and two
less wins. The math doesn't quite math to me. I
guess if you are valuation in Rodo, it's like, yeah,
that's a pretty underperforming whip. But I don't know. Great
question though maybe I'm totally off there. But three hundred innings,
(32:18):
almost four hundred strikeouts, twenty something wins, Like, I don't
know what to do there. But Pedro was absolutely incredible
and I like it. Joe just shared the link in
our chat. So actually, one thing you can do. You
come over to the discord. You can click on the
cleaning up room. You can see the questions, and you
can see the link for the Player Raider Best Seasons
of all time, which is one hundred percent going to
ruin the rest of my day. I will be sitting
(32:40):
here staring at them. It will ruin everything. So thank
you so much.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
One last thing I was going to ask you is
who do you think has, according to the site, the
greatest hitter season in history?
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Barry Bonds.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
According to them, it was Ronald Acuna's forty seventy burning
the dollar value.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Work see hitters was Bonds two.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
To his showhand I'm looking fifty talking about how are
they rating this?
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Barry Bonds is even on this list.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
He comes in at Yeah, I don't know how they
do this. I'm gonna have to Barry Bonds.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
His nineteen ninety three season had a fifty two what
is the dollar ratio that is? They're not dollaring. This
is not dollaring to me.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Yeah, it says he was a fifty three dollars player,
which is absolutely brilliant. But I don't know how his
best season is forty ninth, like Jeff Bagwell's best season
can't be better than.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Larry Walker had a better Seaton had a better fantasy
season in nineteen ninety seven than any Barry Bonds season
in history.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I know that Larry Walker season was like insanity, like
he hit forty nine homers, stole thirty three, thirty three
sixty six average. I don't know that it beats Bonds
as like seventy three homers in one hundred.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Where's the seventy three homer season on this one. I
gotta look now, okay, this is the last thing and
then we're moving on. This has completely derailed us, but
it's fun. I'm okay. Barry Bonds this season was a
forty five dollars season. He had seventy three homers, one
hundred and thirty seven RBI, one hundred and twenty seven runs,
thirteen stolen bases, and at three twenty seven average through
(34:27):
twenty eight average. But guys, that is a forty five
dollars season. What.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
I don't get it either.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Honestly, Sammy Sosa's sixty six homer season was worth more
because he had a few more RBIs they're saying that
that Barry Bond season with seventy something homers wasn't even
a top one hundred fantasy performance. This is broken.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yeah, that's a little odd. That's a little odd for sure.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
And someone's going to complain and be like, Okay, I
don't care. Like Barry Bond's twenty something points higher than
than Sammy Sosa, had more runs, had more homers. He
literally only got beat in RBI by Sammy Sosa, and
Sammy Sosa ranked two or three more dollars worth. That
doesn't math, doesn't math to me. I think we'll ever
(35:19):
see a seventy homer ga again quickly.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Cal Rawley this year? Maybe, No, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I think seven seventy might be too much if we
ever get like a full, healthy Judge season where he
doesn't ever slump then maybe, but we're kind of running
out of time for that.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Judge is sixty two.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Homer season is also among the most valuable seasons ever
according to Raswaldt, number ten all time. If he's got
fanabody's gonna do, it's probably gonna be him.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Yeah, maybe you guys want to come and ask live
questions to me and Joe Piezapia. You can. I'm out
later this week, but my last show of the week
will be four pm Eastern on our YouTube Fantasypro our
YouTube dot com slash Fantasy pros MLB. Make sure you're
described there. We got awesome giveaways all of our videos
for leading off show if you can't go live, and
(36:05):
we will be live four pm Eastern for a full
hour answering your guys's questions. We do it every single Wednesday,
and you can even go front of the line by
putting in a super chat. You are absolutely guaranteed to
have your question answered. Otherwise you're just you're up into
the question. Gods, you just got to hope for the
best that it is going to pop up for you there.
But that is that's got me all worked up. Here
(36:28):
after all that, All right, Burn, let's do some lightning
around here? Are you ready? Matt Shaw? Drop a ble
in ten team?
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Rodo? Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Absolutely unfortunate. But oh it's a keeper. It's what I
didn't say.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
It depends on the number of keepers.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
I think if it's like ten keepers, maybe, but in
a ten team league, I think it's.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Pretty fringe even in a keeper standpoint.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
That's you said it perfectly, like if it were a
five keeper or eight keeper, like, probably not. If it's ten,
maybe to keep him. So I guess the answer is
still kind of like, yes, you can drop him. I
got fought Ober and Taj Bradley. They're killing me? Are
they droppable? Fought is one hundred percent dropable? Ober might
(37:14):
be after today, I think I want to hold on
to Bradley, But if it's a smaller ten team league,
probably Fought is without question the most droppable of all this.
What a disaster and disappointment.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Here he was sitting with like eight wins through six
weeks and I was thinking that he was actually going
to be a breakout like I thought he was, But
holy crap, it's been awful. So with Bradley and Ober,
for me, this is essentially their last week where they
have a chance. They both have two starts, they both
have decent enough matchups. If we get burned this week
with Bradley, he might not make it to the second start.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
It might be boil season.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
So he's, you know, probably number two on that list
in terms of droppable after fought Ober.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
I don't know what the hell to do with Ober.
He's been awful. I think he might be pitching hurt.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Honestly, he's just not good. He's pitching not good. So
I think you can theoretically move on from any of
any of those guys. But the order of how quick fought,
now Ober's in the middle. I might hold on to
Bradley the most, but or maybe I mean Ober's upside
is exciting, but he's been disastrous. But fought. You can
peace out. Let's see big dance. He was responding to
(38:18):
something earlier. I'm in a four outfield weekly league. I
got Roman Anthony, Nimo, Langford, Butler, and Judge. Who do
I bench? I think you can pretty successfully bench Roman
Anthony right now he's hitting one hundred.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Yeah, I'm just looking at the matchups this week at
the Angels and then Toronto. He's probably the bench for now.
I benched him for Chandler Simpson myself in one league
this week.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
I would do it.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
I don't think he's a I don't think he's a
must start at the moment, especially with all the guys
you got going there.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Oh no, let him get right and then start Netto
or Zuna in DH for the week, I'd start Neoto
or Ozuna.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Let me just quickly check. So Boston and Washington for
the Angels. In Atlanta is Mets, and I probably go
with Netto.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
All right, Okay, so we're both going Neto. Ben Brown
is always loved by fantasy pros. Almost every time he's
a two start pitcher or pitching streamer, he's always first
or second best available recording to pros. Do y'all like him,
or do y'all like him a bunch as well? High upside,
low downside? Or do you think he's an average pitcher
resids seas. That's so funny you say that because we
had something. A couple of us kind of helped power
(39:26):
a lot of the tools behind the scenes. Mike Mayer, myself,
Kelly Kirby and there was this Ben Brown thing that
came up where it was like someone's like, oh my gosh,
you know this is it might have been you that
asked this question. To be honest with you, someone was like,
you know, he's high in the two start, but he
ranks low in the rest of season, And it was
kind of one of our devs brought it to us
(39:46):
and we all kind of agreed, like listen, when you're
talking about rest of season, Ben Brown is volatile and
I don't really trust him. I think he is a
stream I think he's the quintessential streamer. If the matchups
are good with striker and their striker potential with a
great offense, I'm with it. But I'm going to pay
attention to the matchups, but I don't trust him, like long,
long term. It was a question about like, you know,
(40:09):
where we had him ranked rest of the season, and
it was in like the eighties of SPS, because yeah,
I think anything can change at any time. But it's
just funny that brought up. I'm okay with him. I
think like I said, I think he's a higher end
streamer with strikeout potential, but really tough matchups like you're
going up against the Braves, I'm probably going to pass.
Do you have any more hardcore feelings or anything like that?
On Ben Brown?
Speaker 3 (40:30):
I really like him. I think that he is not
quite ready for somebody to like. Not not quite a
must start every week type of thing, but a lot
of the numbers below the surface are really good. Twenty
six percent strikeout rate with only a seven percent walk rate.
ERA is ugly, no question, but he if you look
at all the supporting metrics three forty five FIP. I
look at Sierra more than any of the others, and
(40:51):
he's at three forty two. His Sierra right now, at
three forty two.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Is better than Nick Pavetta.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
It's better than Bassett, Flaherty, Chris Bubitch, Drew Rasmussen, and
he's I think he's close. Like I don't think that
he is somebody that I'm just starting indiscriminately for now.
I'm picking my spots, but he's definitely somebody I'm still holding.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Keep him into the top of the streaming pay attention
to the matchups coming up, but you know, from a
rest of season rank perspective, is still going to be
kind of low. A Rosarina moving forward, are you in
or are you out.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
I mean, it kind of depends on the situation. If
it's a ten team three outfielder league, I think he's
pretty okay, like he's kind of borderline, but you know,
if it's a deeper league, you kind of just have
to hold on. He hasn't been bad this year. He's
hitting two forty eight homers, fourteen steals.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
He's been fine.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
But I think in those shallower formats you can probably
stream if anything, where you're starting or outfielders, at least,
I'd want to hold him though.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
I think outside of three ten team three outfield I'm good.
I'm good with keeping him and rolling him. He is
hitting well this month to eighty six, so this month
that things are starting to click with some interesting profile stuff,
So I'm still good. Tomorrow Miserowski or Schemes. Is that
the matchup we have too? I think that is. I
think it's Missy in Schemes Tomorrow Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
I think that's Wednesday, unless Rota Wires got it off
maybe better.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
Well, either way, I think we have those two going
up against each other.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Ski without a doubt, Well.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
Schemes scheme is a better pitcher, but who's gonna get
the run support.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
I mean, Milwaukee's offense is pretty bad too.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
How about how about we go under three and a
half runs in the first five.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
With mine?
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah, yeah, you combine them, like the first first five
is typically four and a half. I will bet you
that game is so typical game would be like eight
and a half runs. So your your first five innings,
here's a little betting thing. Your first five innings would
typically have like a four and a half runs, and
it might be like minus one twenty or one twenty
(42:51):
five or something like that. And then it juices up
a little bit more if you go to eight. And
then if it's in the sevens, that's where it doesn't
make sense to play under five or under four and
a half runs. So I'll bet you that game is
going to be a line of seven and a half runs,
and I'll bet you the under four and a half
is going to be way too juice. But you might
be able to get close to plus money if you
(43:12):
bet under three runs between both teams through the first five.
I think I might play that. I like, Missy feels
pretty safe.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
It feels pretty safe. Yeah, I mean, Pittsburgh is so
embarrassingly bad offensively they don't scare you at all. Milwaukee's
actually had a decent June, but they also been pretty
feeble this year.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
So I think that that's a fair bet. Under three
and a half, Yeah, I think i'd take that.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
And if it opens up higher, if it's eight and
a half and you can get under four and a
half runs, you know for like minus one fifteen or something, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme.
Last one. Dynasty al Contra Taj Bradley, Gavin Williams pick.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
One oh Man, probably Sandy, Probably Sandy, but I don't
really love any of them. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
I like Sandy. He's really turned it around two point
seventy ra in this month, seems to be more confident.
This should lead to a trade, which is gonna help
him even more. I'm gonna pick I'm team Sandy on
this one. Taj and Gavin have both been just a
little eh, so, uh, this is team Sandy for me,
even though he's been Lacey.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
So yeah, there we go.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
There we go, Team Sandy, and there you go. Friends,

sold you before, it is ill and me I'm used
to being cold all year long, so I'm going to
bring the computer outside tonight, watching baseball outside in the
heat and have a couple of beers.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
Probably, yeah, you were trying to break down. I can't comprehend,
Like when I hear he's like, man, it's thirty six celsius,
and I'm just like, that just doesn't sound hot, like
one hundred and twelve fahrenheit. Even if we didn't use
fahrenheit and celsius, I'm not even get that whole discussion.
One hundred and twelve sounds hot. Thirty six anything does
not sound hot unless that's you know, earned runs given up.
(45:49):
Thirty six seems like a low number, so you're like,
whoa thirty six celsius? And I'm like, okay, buddy, it
sounds great, but it's not. Apparently it's like high nineties.

And for the Americans listening right now, who have no
idea what I'm talking about with celsius, it feels like

care about the baseball and we got it covered for you.
So thank you so much for hanging out with us.
